Hey Chrys! Glad to see you finally made it over here! Guess it's time to get to work then?
:)
We will need a few more people to join the RP, both now, and later on as the RP progresses. So... if you're interested... do let us know. I think as it stands we are on the look out for somebody to play the part of a young Dúnadan squire (duties will include fetching water, darning socks, and making sure my shield is shiny) and also we need somebody to play that part of a sulty elven-maiden. (Duties will include being sultry and being an elf-maiden... and maybe some other things too... fetching water, darning socks, making sure my shield is shiny... that kind of thing...)
Ah... that's about it I think.

He is quiet and contemplative, given to self-deprecating humour and on occasion sings. Is fiercely loyal to Gil-galad and his friend Alduric.

Always room for another Scatha - glad to have you onboard! Although if we do get any more dragons in here I think we will be in danger of becoming a fire hazard!?!
:)
Anyway, Chrys tells me you want to play the leader of the brigands? That's excellent news, but if in the meantime you want to take on any of the smaller roles (Gil-galad, Elrond, Isildur, et al.) you are more than welcome!

Name: Alduric
Race: Dúnadan
Age: 111
Birthplace: Romenna
Appearance: Rugged and grim visaged, with sea-grey eyes and dark hair - cropped short.
Weapons and Armour: Dagorlin (Battlesong), a mighty longsword and an heirloom of Alduric's house. In battle he carries a great shield and wears a mail hauberk and tall helm.
Personality: Grim and battle-hardened, Alduric has fought long and hard alongside Isildur his lord, escaping down the Anduin with him after Minas Ithil fell to Sauron. Known as an Elf-friend, Alduric has a love of Elven Lore and Culture and a fine voice, he is renowned among the Knights of Isildur for his recitations of ancient lays and tales, and is a great friend to Ithildin of Lindon.
History: Born in Romenna in the year of the Downfall of Numenor, Alduric was a babe in arms when the Faithful landed in Middle-Earth. He grew up in the service of Isildur, first serving as a squire, and later as a Knight in Arms, distinguishing himself in the sevice of his lord.

I can be the sultry Elf-Maiden ;), or if that part is already taken maybe I can be the page.
But guys, please fill me in! I have no clue what this RPG is about, the time line, and objective, or at least overall theme of the storyline.

Hi Guys,
May I climb aboard? Chrys has asked me to play the role of Ithildin's (spelling?) sidekick. I'm a pretty fantastic camp cook who can wield a mean cudgel in a pinch. But the best part is I can prepare a meal out of all kinds of things one would find in forest, field and stream that will make your tastebuds dance and sing! :D I can give Sam Gamgee a run for his money when it comes to knowing my way around the kitchen or camp stove.
I can also darn socks.

Chrys mentioned that she would like to see this RP up and running again,. the third time is a charm they say, and although I lead a singularly uncharmed life I'm more than willing to give it another shot. A potentially amazing RP I think, epic in scope if not in splendor. I'm not really sure what I mean by that - but it sounds like good tub-thumping to me.

Hey, TURGON!!! :D
Considering the start date of this RPG (07-09-2004, 05:19 AM) wow! Like woah!
I think I tried to join this one as well. *is seriously thinking of continuing another RPG that was abruptly stopped for very weird reasons  *
Yeah, I think RPG's like these should be finished.

I think this RP dates back a good year and a half before that date too Narya... so yes kind of strange to dig it up... but honestly... it's an amazing story and it must be done. You should think about joining again.
As for the RP you are talking about... is it Forbidden? Why was that stopped? You weren't forbidden to do it were you? That would be ironic. A real cool RP though. I even had a little part in it I think.

Yeah, that was my "baby" RPG. The first one I ever thought of that actually went far :( . And yeah, you were I think Finarfin there. Then you disappeared.
No, I wasn't forbidden to continue it. It was more of a misunderstanding between myself and some of the players.
Yeah, sure, I would love to join this RPG however, you have to fill me in. Remind me again, what is the premise of this RPG, the Storyline, the Timeline...and what part do you think I should play.
Turgon
08-13-2006, 06:13 AM
Not so much a disappearance - more a case of getting lost. I can only stand upon a tower and shake my locks out into the wind so many times. In writing I mean... I never get tired of that kind of thing in real life. It was a great RP all the same. Right up there with Chrys's Redemption and Snaga's Hope/Despair as one of the great Unfinished RPs of all time. Has there ever been a finished RP?
As for this tale? It is a love story set against the back drop of the Last Alliance. Ithildin and Alduric are two friends (an elf and a Dunadan) who go to war together. Ithildin (the elf) is betrothed to an elf-maid who waits for him in Rivendell, yet when Alduric comes to Rivendell with the host of Isildur, Ithildin's maid falls in love him. Meh... human urgency over elven serenity. So Ithildin ends up fleeing and joining a group of bandits in the Wilderland. The bandits end up capturing Alduric, who Ithildin really, really, really wants to kill. Yet Alduric sings a few lines from Turin's Laer Cu Beleg (a song Turin wrote in remembrance of Beleg) reminding Ithildin of Turin's horror at slaying his friend in a fit of madness. Everybody kisses and makes up before dying horribly before the gates of Barad-dur. Although I always wanted a happy ending... so who knows? Maybe that will change...:D

I'm willing to play the crazy elf-maid who goes for the Dunadan even if she's bethrothed to another Elf. ;) If that part hasn't been casted yet, that is.
As for unfinished RPG's, I think here there are only two finished RPG's, number 5 and 6 I think. I would love to finish Forbidden and all the new RPG's I'm involved in just to show something actually got finished, and prove that I am not the jinx.

Now that I have looked back at this thing, I remember that I had signed up for the role of one of the outlaws that the sickening elf character ends up hanging out with. Not the leader of the group, since that's not my thing. *attempts to wrap his brain around the squire idea* I didn't even know that the dude had a name yet. I can attempt to come up with a good profile for that kind of character, too, though. Ick. Fetching water, darning socks, making sure that random people's shields are shiny? Also, he was meant to be a bit of comedic type relief. I'll be back once I find some inspiration for a character as pathetic sounding as all of that.

08-13-2006, 11:43 PM
Nope. *is happily oblivious* It will just have to be a character composed purely of my own creativity. I shall not be watered down by random actors! Anyways, it looks like he'll have to be sickeningly Numenorean. Dang. I shall be sure to find some interesting quirks. *groans at sickening perfection of Numenoreans*
Turgon
08-14-2006, 01:31 AM
Yay! The Dorlas character was just something we worked out with Sting - who was to play him way back when. The squire doesn't necessarily have to be Numenorean, in fact Numenor has sunk beneath the waves over a century before. I took a liberty with Alduric really, making him a babe in arms at the time of the Downfall. Tolkien tells us that Anarion was the last child to be born in Numenor if I remember, but considering his age at the time I always found that odd. Gondorian propaganda no doubt.
Reading Alduric's profile might give you an idea as to when and why the squire took service with him. Other than that - do as you will.
YayGollum
08-14-2006, 01:52 AM
Well, pretty much Numenorean. Sure, not actually born there, but most probably born to and raised by the creepily perfect beings. Anyways, yes, I have read the profiles. Nothing that seems especially influential to some random guy who's family is heaping all kinds of annoying expectations on him, when he has very dissimilar interests. <--- One take that I could use for this character.

Just wondering if anyone wishes to take up the role of one of the big up and coming characters. Elendil, Isildur, Gil-galad, Elrond and so on. We probably will need an Isildur, or a Gil-galad. Somebody the heroes can serve during the long wait in Rivendell. The Alliance pauses there for three years I think. We will probably need at least one side-story for us to move through this period. That why I've briefly mentioned Oropher in my post - a possible link for the future.
Oropher (Thranduil's father) flees before Sauron's power a few times I think, travelling from his original dwellings on Amon Lanc (the future Dol Guldur... which I think plays a part in this story Chrys?) to the residence we come to know in the Third Age. Meh... not brushed up on this Last Alliance thing since we first came up with this idea. So I'm thinking maybe he is a little reluctant to take up arms. Perhaps one of the reasons the Alliance pauses for so long at Imladris is because Gil-galad and Elendil are trying to persuade other people to join their cause? Perhaps Ithidlin and Co. are sent away on one of these missions? Not necessarily to Oropher? Maybe to Moria or some such exotic place? Though quite why an Elf and a Dúnadan would be sent there is a puzzler. Maybe they are sent to Malgalad in Lórien and try to pass through Moria? I dunno... just some random thoughts.
I'm waffling here... but it would be nice to get a few cameos for the up and coming feast.

Argh. *grumbles about people playing characters that they didn't come up with* But oh well.
Name: Dorlas. I didn't come up with it. Probably wouldn't have been especially eager to come up with a name, anyways, though. just a disclaimer.
Race/Gender: Numenorean type human/Male
Appearance: If this'll be over several years, he could change a bit, but, for now, just recently had a nice growth spurt which got him up to a reasonably impressive height, which he is very impressed with, still a bit gangly looking, but fairly strong, is furiously growing facial hair, which is only of the ilk of peach fuzz yet, shoulder length brown hair, most oftenly has open and quickly honest expressions, plenty of stamina, eagerness, and determination readily available, wears simple yet refined clothing
Personality: Doesn't especially enjoy army life but focuses on the idea of enjoying the opportunity for travel, seems to have a disturbingly slow wit, since he is obviously very intelligent, is very serious about studying history and politics, attempts to keep his mind off of the work that he's been forced into by way of several hobbies, none of which he has settled down on, if any humor is shown, it'd be dry and accidental, feels priviledged to be stuck with Alduric, only knows and respects him as a fine soldier but is still arrogant enough to speak as if he figured them to be intellectual equals
History: Born as well as raised in Annuminas to a higher class family, was told that he was obligated to become a squire and grumbled nonstop about leaving his ambitionless comforts but just as easily grew an upper lip stiff enough to handle anything that has been thrown at him, so far. Of course, not much, since he's young.

It might be nice if we could use this feast to introduce our characters. Plenty of opportunity here as I'd like the feast to last a little while just to see if anybody else wishes to join us before the off. Narya, perhaps your character can send a messenger to Ithildin with a fancy pants letter or some such thing, might help you to develop her... or at least try out your hand. And Yay there is plenty of scope for Dorlas here too.
Anyway, there you go.

Name: Ilúvënis
Race/Gender: Elf (Noldorin)/Female
Birthyear: 3119 - Second Age
Birthplace: Imladris
Appearance:
Slender, skin as pale as the moon, with deep-set blue-gray eyes, long flowing raven-black hair, delicate lips and chin, wears a teardrop pendant upon a silver chain around her neck.
Background:
Ilúvënis possessed both the beauty and pride of the Noldo. However, she has inherited an arrogance that had alienated her from many of those that dwelled with her in Imladris. Refusing to associate with anyone unless they shared her heritage, Ilúvënis was raised in solitude by her mother Alatariel who now resides in Lothlorien. She enjoyed the serenity of Elrond's haven though she was often alone until she saw Ithildin. Mistaking him for a Noldo, Ilúvënis fell in love with him and was devastated when she realized he was Sindarin.
Concerned for her well-being, Elrond requested Ithildin to teach Ilúvënis archery. At first, Ilúvënis fought hard to overcome her infatuation for him, holding fast to her pride, however Ithildin's gentle persuasion finally changed her heart and she accepted his love and they were bethrothed.

Nice profile Narya. It seems Ilúvënis has dropped some years...:D But I like that idea... it seems to make more sense for her to be a younger elf. I think she is roughly the same age as Alduric now. Eleventy-one? Eleventy-two?
Cool!
