Hypothetically if the Hobbit were made into a movie, and it were hypothetically directed by Peter Jackson (*ducks so tomatoes don't hit her*)

Think: In the Lord of the Rings orcs, goblins, trolls, eagles, and spiders were made not to speak in the common tongue, and Peter Jackson created the CG characters in the same manner.

In the Hobbit, each one of these characters (except orcs) talk. Would Peter Jackson have to redesign these characters? Surely he would use the stone trolls he used in FOTREE, but I doubt the audience could believe that those trolls can talk in the Hobbit, yet a mere 60 years later (right? 60?) trolls can't talk. Same with goblins. They talk in the hobbit, yet they just shriek in The Lord of the Rings. How do u figure Jackson could get around this?

sorry about the typo. changed it.

and i don't know where i was when i was thinking that orcs didn't talk. oh yes. Moria. Moria goblins didn't talk. they just shrieked alot. but i suppose that could be easily changed. perhaps we just didn't see them talk  .

I recently finished writing a screenplay adaptation of the Hobbit, and this was one of the biggest challenges for me, because not only do those creatures talk but they talk very cartoon-y. Which I felt didn't mesh well with what Jackson had already established for a film version of Middle-Earth. So how can it please the purists and be a part of Jackson's version... I had to take a step back and make some compromises.

Why did you write a screenplay for the Hobbit, if I may ask?!?

Why not?...no i really wanted to see if i could do it. i had come up with creative ways to connect a hobbit movie to PJ's LOTR without cheapening Bilbo's story. i'm still working on revivsion & tightening it up, & i admit to making changes, but i think even the 'purists' will be able to get past them & appreciate the way i've handled it.
