I say no, simply. There's at least a couple of threads about it here (http://www.thetolkienforum.com/showthread.php?t=16754) and here (http://www.thetolkienforum.com/showthread.php?t=15812) where I put forward my ideas. Oddly, they make sense :)

Hmmm....yeah, I see what you are saying.....;) I think the reason why I want Jackson to make The Hobbit is because I don't want the story to end. I will have the Harry Potter films to look forward to. With the new director things look promising. My fav book is the GoF.:D It's pretty awesome. The movie comes out November 4, 2005 I believe. Can't wait!
I hope Peter can just hurry up with that giant ape and start on The Hobbit!

I'm pretty much resigned to the Hobbit being made, so it's Jackson I want in charge. I'll watch it, and I'll like it, but that doesn't mean I have to agree with it :)
OotP is my favourite Potter book. But that's because it's the darkest and most complex so far. I suspect that HBP, being even darker will become my favourite when it comes out. There's only so much happy-go-luckiness a man can take

I say yes...make the Hobbit. What do we have to lose? If it stinks...well we cry a little and try to forget it ever happened...but if it's good oh what a treasure it would be...we'd have something else to add to our LOTR DVD collection...that is of course after I add the super special edition extended editions which will no doubtedly surface eventually ;) ... this is why I can't afford to pay rent anywhere...damn you PJ!!!!! :D

I'm still wishy washy about wether it SHOULD happen, but if it does, it had better be Jackson at the helm. I've no particular love for him but at least then the trilogy and the hobbit will be kinda unified.
It should happen...but Peter Jackson shouldn't direct. And Brian Sibley should do the script. Then I'll be really happy. Is Jerzy Hoffman free for directing?

On a similar poll here on TTF, I just saw the vote at 46 Yes, 6 No.
