I thought I would start a thread about books that have been written analyzing and critiquing Tolkien's work. Has anyone read a book recently (or not) that they would recommend? what book/s would you not recommend? I'm reading "Tolkien: A Cultural Phenomenon", by Brian Rosebury. Quite insightful but you need a dictionary along side when you are reading it. Liz in Aberdeen

Well, it's not analyzing his works, but David Day's A Guide to Tolkien's Middle-Earth is good.
