I am about to turn 33. As you all know, this is the age at which a Hobbit 'comes of age'.
What would be an appropriate way to celebrate; considering I don't drink, am a vegetarian, and don't like large parties. (How boring!!)

How about a retreat of some kind? Perhaps there is a State or National park near where you live with forests that remind you of Lothlorien. Take a few days off, go camping and commune with nature. That helps me get my head together.
How about a stay at a B&B that reminds you of the Prancing Pony, or someplace that looks like The Shire?
There's always the spa thing. Go soak in a tub of mud and then get wrapped in seaweed with cucumber slices over your eyes... :D

While wallowing in crepulence and placing salad on your face can be exciting for some, I'd suggest a picnic or outdoor lunch with friends. Bread and cheese, some (nonalcoholic ;) ) ale, some scones and jam maybe, or some cakes. A pleasant afternoon in a nice meadow or hilltop somewhere. Lovely.

Both fantastic ideas, thanks. Maybe a combination of both might be nice; a family picnic in the National park! (Although its winter here.) I know you Northern Hemisphere dwellers think its always hot 'down under', but where I am, today is going to reach a top of 9 degrees c.
I have been planning to get away lately to my closest to Lothlorien, to clear my head, to get back to a different kind of reality. That communion with nature that seems to come so naturally to the elves is definately lacking among humans. If we weree more like the elves or the hobbits, I doubt the world would be in its current state.

I'm sorry, I could not stand being a vegetarian (I hate vegetables) so I cannot really help you except to suggest to you to take a trip to Texas. It is such an awesome state. Maybe I'm biased since I think Texas is the greatest place on Earth, but you really should go there.
