Ok, lets let our hair down shall we? If there are any questions about how this will work, please PM me.

Please Read The Following Instructions Before you post.

This is not a traditional RP. A profile must be posted in the profiles area before you post. A character profile must be presented that states all that the person has with them INCLUDING ammunition and all abilities that they possess. This is not a strict Tolkien RP so almost any character will do.

Ok, this is a game and so there are rules:

1) The players can only control their own actions. Because of this, a post may be very small.

2) A player may not include the results of their own actions. All results will be determined by the Narrator. If a player wishes to use a weapon, item, ability, or effect their environment in a specific way like: climb a sheer wall, or hide in the shadows, they must "attempt" to do so within the following brackets [ ] Multiple actions may be taken within a single post.

Example:

Tucker: Tucker layed down upon his stomach and looked over the edge of the drop-off. He wondered how far down it went. He looked around for a loose stone to toss over the edge to see how far down it went before it hits something. [Tucker looks for a stone to throw]

Narrator: [Result] Tucker finds a suitable stone and tosses it over the edge. He listens and listens, but does not hear anything.

3) Information must be shared verbally.

Now that Tucker knows its a bottomless pit, he may want to tell others in the group. If he does not, no one else can react to it. Information must be shared verbally or only its holder knows it.

3) If equipment is found, it will be the players responsibility to add it to their profile.

Greedy characters may hold items without others knowing about it.

4) Each character will be allowed 3 "Survival points". These points can be spent if death occurs. Points may be shared amongst characters.

In many cases, death can occur when a character does something he/she should not be doing.

5) Riddles, puzzles etc may stand in your way. You may use any and all outside assistance to traverse any obstacle. I.E. Other forum members advice.

6) Creatures will try and stop your progress through the Caverns. Fighting, may not be the only way to get past them. In fact, fighting may get someone hurt or killed.

The characters surroundings will be displayed for them so that they can adequately move about the caverns and affect their environment. However, unless you can see in complete dark...a torch may be useful. All [attempts to flee] will bring the character back to the entrance.

Narrator:The two of you had heard the stories and the tales. Terror above all imagination. Wealth to become Kings yourselves and more. But perhaps you stand before the dark entrance for your own reasons. The two of you give a nod to each other and speak your names. This dark entrance was not easy to get to. It was carved out of the cliff face near a small ledge at the middle of the sheer cliff wall several hundred feet above the ground of which you started. The mountain ridge spans many miles east and west and you stand at its midpoint. Strangely, you see two lit torches in sconces on either side of the entrance. The sun beams down upon you and even its brightness barely illuminates the steps leading down just inside the entrance. The width of the entrance is 6 feet with a general height of about 7 feet. The ceiling, sides, and steps of the entrance are crudely carved and covered in moss. You smell dampness and decay that seems to eminate from below. The steps are slippery due to the moss. You hear only the howling of the wind as it buffets against you. The cavern awaits its conquerors, or shall you become its next victims?

Narrator: You are standing at the front of the cavern, what would you like to do?

Darotek turned to his partner and adjusted the sword in its hilt.

"So," he sighed. "Here we are after all this time..." the question on his mind now was... was it worth it? All of the sacrifice, all of the bloodshed that had fallen like tears he would never allow himself to shed. Darotek closed his eyes and breathed in the thick air.

"What do you think happens now that the two villains have come so close to what they wanted?" He asked. "Will they come out victorious or will they perish like the bad guys in childrens' books?" He smiled.

Veloz shifted his weapon from side to side nervously. The grimy cave entrance looked perilous from where they stood.[looks for a stone] "Maybe we should throw a stone across the floor of the cave to see for any traps?" He said cautiously, "I don't want to die like a fool."

Narrator: Veloz you find a suitable stone to throw but as you dip your head just inside, you can see a few roughly carved steps leading down, but beyond that nothing but blackness. You throw the stone, and both of you hear it skip many times against stone as it descends downward into the blackness. Two torches plainly sit in holders on either side of the entrance and provide the little bit of light at the entrance.

"I guess we go in then," Darotek said with a smile at his obviously scared partner. With proud steps and a jaunty posture, he began to walk in.

Narrator: As you walk down the first few steps, the light coming from the entrance begins to fade. You feel outward with your hands and feel sticky webs covered in dust. Your eyes can not seem to penetrate the darkness below. (Hint1: Perhaps a lightsource would be handy down here?)

"We better grab the torches" [starts to walk back] And better be armed and cautious." He looks back and forth for traps and tricks and takes small steps.

Narrator: Veloz, you see that the torches lift easily from their sconces and you hand one to your comrade. The two of you move down the stairs cautiously.

The flickering light of the torches gives you about 15 feet of decent light all around you. After a few minutes, you feel the space around you open up. No longer can you feel walls beside you and the air moves more freely now. Each loud noise made by your boots against the steps creates an echo. By stopping to test your surroundings, you now know that if you were to fall off the steps left or right, it could be to your death. You also know that the ceiling now is much higher and out of sight. The stairs take a 90 degree turn to the right and continue downward, finally you come to another doorway, very similar to the one you entered through.

It's general shape is the same and its carved right out of the sheer rockface. Inside it is a small room of roughly carved stone about 15 X 15 feet with a ceiling of 7 feet. It has 2 exits, the way you came and a portcullis that is closed opposite from that. There is a rusted lever protruding out from the wall next to the portcullis.

On the ground near the rusted lever is a decomposed body dressed in rags and rusted chain armor. Near him is a small burlap sack that seems to have a few items within it.

Darotek smirked and turned back to the other man. "Might as well see if Slim here had anything good." With that he walked toward the body's sack and lifted up the flap that covered its opening.

[looks for something to sit on.] "Well I'll be over here if you need me. That body stinks." [gazes about the room]. "There is something weird going on."

Please write down in your profiles anything that you decide to keep on your person.

Narrator: You find within the sack: 4 well oiled torches, 2 flasks of oil, 1 flint and steel, 10 pieces of chalk, 10 pitons, 1 small hammer, 50 feet of 1/2" thick hemp rope, 1 grapling hook.

"Ah what a load of junk," Darotek spat. "Nothin' in there that we don't have already...or at least, nothin' we need. And stop bein' so paranoid!" He walked over to his friend. "What could happen?" tossing the sack down onto the dusty lap of the corpse, he turned around.

Veloz shook his head. "Nothin wrong with being cautious." Veloz stood up and looked around. [looks for any rooms.] "So where do we go from here? And I don't think we are the only ones here."
