They were dark times and the Ilkorindi lived solemn lives in the Great Forest to the west of Koivieneni. Orome the Hunter and his steed Nahar had not arrived yet and the west was not even rumour to the Ilkorindi.
Galen called the peregrine falcon to his side. He was digging pignuts out of the thicket before the wild boars came to feed. His flint-tipped arrows glazed with an amber polish. (After all, metal had not yet been discovered.) As Galen placed the pignut roots in his rucksack the snuffling of the boar came near. He quickly scampered up the tree and watched the family of boars closely. The head male sniffed the bottom of the birch in which he was seated and began biting and fawning the birch 'til it started to bleed.
What would happen to Galen? Would he leap to the next birch sapling, weak though it was, fend the boars off with grunts which might not certainly keep them away or spend his last six arrows even though he'd have to pepper one of them at least?
