I've been thinking of that matter the other day... It's that some of Rowling's charracters' faiths are... well... bound to their names, which I don't think is quite right. It's the case of Lupin and Greyback that I am speaking of. You see their mothers couldn't have known that they would become werewolves, yet their names.. suggest it: 'lupus' being the latin for wolf, and 'Fenrir'- a great wolf from the Viking mytholigy... which is a rather obvious mistake. Have you noticed any other faith-name connection in any of the books?

I think you mean fate, not faith. ;)
Anyway, I have indeed noticed that Rowling likes to play with names a lot. Not necessarily in major characters (other than the 2 you mentioned), but when you look at the booklists that the students have for school, each book for each subject was written by someone with a name relating to it. I can't remember any names exactly, but in particular I remember the play on words with it in Book 1.
But now that I'm looking at things on Wikipedia....
Draco is the name of the first scribe to write down the law in ancient Athens, Greece. Apparently he was very harsh, punishing even very minor offenses with the death penalty. This sounds somewhat like Malfoy in the Harry Potter series, very harsh and overreacting to things. Just a thought though....
And its late, so I won't look up any others just now. But the point is: yes, I have noticed the connection you're talking about.

I'm pretty sure there's already a thread about this...go find it if possible. If not, my bad.
