Yes, there really is such a book, and it's called "The Letters of JRR Tolkien" edited by Humphrey Carpenter (one of Tolkien's biographers) with the assistance of Christopher Tolkien (the son to whom JRR entrusted with his writings after his death). It's published by Houghton Mifflin, and you can get it in paperback at just about any good bookstore. In fact, you can order it online at Amazon.com.

It's a pretty sure bet that almost everybody here at TTF has read it (and re-read it), and it looks like soon, you'll be doing it too! :)

Absolutely!
In fact, I'll go check out my favourite book store tomorrow!
See if they have it!
Or even the library!

It's an excellent book, I might add. There are lots of nuggets of information that add to and enrich the stories. You also get a sense of what Tolkien was thinking at different stages of his life.

Amazon (http://www.amazon.com/Letters-J-R-R-Tolkien-J-R/dp/0618056998/sr=1-1/qid=1162362121/ref=pd_bbs_sr_1/102-1757299-7884157?ie=UTF8&s=books) is currently quoting a price of $9.75 for the paperback edition.

It is an excellent book and indispensable for insight on a vast number of topics. You can find citations all over the Forum from Letters.
