Whoever started this trend of each user posting all of his/her profiles in their own thread was brilliant! Here's a shout out to them. Whoot whoot!

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Name: Tiriviel
Race: Elf
Place of birth: Imladris
Age: Unknown
Appearance: Tall and slender with large, deep blue, expressive eyes and a ready smile that begins in the eyes. She has long and waving dark brown hair that flows past her waist, with a tinge of red or gold, depending on the light. She has fair skin, which will not tan, and is commonly clad in elvish fashion. She prefers blues and greens, and has a soft appearance but is terrible in battle.
Weapons: A long elvish blade that was a parting gift from her father. A short dagger that she keeps hidden and a long knife strapped to her waist. She also keeps an elven bow and arrows from her great-grandmother.
Possessions: One long dark blue hooded cloak, that looks as though it has seen better days. Has one extra set of clothing. She carries healing oil that was given to her by lord Faramir, a water skin, elvish waybread, and some dried fruit. She also carries a coin pouch in which there is little money. All of these are carried in a leather pack that she carries on her back. A single, small, black stone hangs from a mithril chain around her neck. The stone has virtues. At the will of the wearer, it heals, and gives light only to the wearer and any other that she chooses. Other virtues: unknown. (For now)
Personality: She is friendly, happy, (which can easily turn into playfulness) and kind with a forgiving spirit. She smiles easily and loves to sing. She is very strongminded, fierce in battle, and has great detrmination to finish any task that is set before her.
History: Only child and daughter of Elrohir, Tiriviel lived in Imladris to adulthood and was found to have gifts of healing, fighting, and insight. She had a light heart and laughed easily and could bring a smile to anyone's face. She traveled abroad and, when her father sailed to the undying lands, she decided to stay in Middle Earth with the few of her kind. She lends her skills to the kings of the South to keep peace in the world.
I was the one who made the first character profile thread all for me. Or, at least, I never saw anyone else do it here before myself, and I certainly wasn't copying anyone. Anyways, I hope that you wouldn't mind me posting here. Sure, you write that it's a work in progress. You might have twenty-seven thousand amazing ideas that I have never thought of, and you just haven't had time to type yet.
But ---> What's with all the elves? Ugh. So popular. :rolleyes: Give me an Orc (a storytelling one, who keeps the Orcish legends that they came from elves and sometimes wonders if they can find a way to change back, of course, if you felt like having it tie to nasssty elveses). Or a Dwarf (a culinarily-minded one, who wasn't much of a fighter but was always getting invited to travel with Dwarvish soldiers just for his food, but he got lost or his troop was killed off, and he was lucky enough to be taken in by some elf who also knew a thing or two about cooking. Imagine it! A combination of the always amazing Dwarvish techniques and perfection at their chosen craft and the always more popular elfish way of doing anything! Nobody could ever resist that food!). :rolleyes:
I'll admit you have a very good point. I just find it harder to get into that kind of mind set. I was going to make my character have more humanistic characteristics (is the first even a word?). I'm not sure exactly where I'm going with this but for the sake of diversity I'll try to do a character that is not what I'm used to. Thanks for the advice! :D ;)
*checks dictionary just to make sure, then looks up as if he knew all along* Sure, humanistic is a word. Why not? :rolleyes: As to having trouble with getting into different mindsets ---> Understandable. But then, you can only get better with practice. Take a character that you aren't entire sure about into some bar type thread and do something interesting before you jump into an actual R. P. G. with it.
Name: Figwitt Brandybuck
Race/Gender: Hobbit/Male
Age: 39
Appearance: Slightly above average height, he stands at about 3'8". He has sandy brown hair and grey eyes.
Personality: Laid-back and enjoys swapping stories in the local taverns, but like most hobbits, had more strength than he realizes which reveals itself in a tight situation. He has also been called too optomistic and adventurous by his friends.
Weapons: Bow and arrows and a small knife which were stolen. Also keeps several good throwing stones in his pockets.
Posessions: Two water skins and a small sack to carry any excess food (however unlikely for a hobbit), and a dark green cloak.
History: First cousin to Merriadoc (twice removed on his father's side) And second cousin (three times removed) to Peregrin Took. Second son of Berilac Brandybuck and Lily Goodbody. His older brother inherited the family business of boat building, while Figwitt was born with the infamous adventurous spirit of the Brandybucks. He decided to travel to Gondor to pay his respects to the king (seeing as he was family to the famous Merriadoc) and to see the world before he settled down for good. He was traveling with his fourth cousin (five times removed) Fredegar Bolger.
Ill chime in here. If I were to play an orc Sir Yaygollum, oh the things I would write would not be for the light at heart to read. My specialty is of the gothic and dark sort and it is nice to see a humorous side displayed on the part of the orcs but, thats not really how it is. An Orc's life is a terrible existance by human standards. Oh, I could write of such with you yaygollum, but I fear it would not be received well and thus many of us stick with what is uplifting.
No large deal, Daranavo person. I understand plenty of different ways that you could go with an Orc type character. My way is just more light-hearted, but still plausible, I think. I enjoy the idea that elfish talents and personalities could still show up in an Orc. Why couldn't there be Noldorish, Telerish, and Vanyarish types of Orcs? Why don't more people play Orcish scientists, since there were always hints that such people existed? Sure, Mel captured a bunch of elves and messed with their brains. It seems as if he bred all goodness out of them, but that just sounds too creepy, to me. Forgive my optimism. But then, I remember suggesting a horror type R. P. G. at one point, about a bunch of elves who were captured and tortured, some turned into Orcs, some just used as slaves for some skill that they had. It could have satisfied your desire for realism, mayhaps.
It is well written that such noble formats, precursors to the creation of such vile creatures such as Orcs, have been stomped out of their very souls. Self-preservation has replaced nobility and I could continue. But, I leave you to your trappings since it is the thing you like to do and we all are not the same.
I agree with everything that you wrote, Daranavo person, but only to a point, since I can still see some wiggle room to play around with. How can you be sure that anything was completely stomped out of an entire race? There are different strains of Orcs, and, as a matter of course, there are all kinds of possibilities for Uruk-Hai, and I see no reason to count out the idea of certain genes finding their ways back into use or certain personality traits showing up in all kinds of different environments, especially so long after Mel was discarded. Also, sorry, yhwh1st person. :rolleyes:
Name: Lilithé (often called Lily)
Race/Gender: Human/ Female
Age: 27
Appearance: Not very tall, she stands about 5’ 2” and is very petite. Tanned skin causes bright green eyes to stand out on a face that would be otherwise unremarkable. Clumsy most of the time, except in a fight, she gives off the appearance of naiveté. She has thick sandy blond hair that falls past her waist and wears a rich, long green cloak over crude brown clothing. She also wears worn, but sturdy, knee high leather boots that have seen better days.
Possessions: A long sword, a knife, and a bow string inside a small leather bag which had previously held food.
History: Unknown. (which translates to, “I haven’t decided yet”) :p
I find that this can happen at the most unusual times here. As for who started the trend, all I know is that I was copying Yay, so he gets the credit as far as I go. Look forward to seeing your characters around the forums.
