Sorry, this is a random thought in my mind. But who takes a picture of someone leaning against the wall... 'chilling'? I mean chilling to me is laying on a sofa and someone sneaking up and snapping a quick photo. Or eating or doing something lazy. But standing against a wall, chilling... I guess you dont chill the same way I do.

But anyways thats a random thought, and it seems more of a posing picture than chilling. ;)

Im not trying to be difficult, really! :D

I was sort of posing, after my sister asked to take a pic of me. I was also just waiting for somebody to hurry up and get out of the bathroom so I could brush my teeth. :-p But, I was just standing there against the wall waiting.... :)

And Dáin, why "dans ta visage" and not "dans ton visage"???

Lantarion
10-04-2003, 01:48 PM
I think visage is feminine, isn't it? :o
(It means "In your face", right?) :)

Gosh Arebeth.. You're gorgeous. :o

Thanks...

And you're right, it means "in your face", but "visage" is masculine. (I've won enough French spelling contests to know that:D )- you say "un visage", not 'une". The gender rules in French are often everything but logical.:)

Dáin Ironfoot I
10-04-2003, 05:09 PM
Yea about that... I was never taught a lot of grammar rules in French, since I stopped formerly learning it when I was 7 and moved from Brittany to the States.

I know enough French and can understand it (growing up with it) but I am horrible at writing and I get the grammar rules I know mixed up with my English... If only my parents would have tutored me or something instead of propeling me so fast into American schools. I actually have a much better control over English, which is pretty scary! :p

Im thinking of taking a really advanced course in French in college, and then maybe I will learn how to write out most of the stuff and learn some more grammar rules. But I can speak and understand it perfectly, so I should be able to get an easy grade! Thanks for letting me know, Arebeth. I will change it, and PM me in French sometime!

Et oui, TON visage est tres beau! Je pense que tu es une jolie fille! (Hows that for gender agreement! :p )

Arebeth
10-04-2003, 08:46 PM
Merci beaucoup...:D

Don't worry, a lot of French-speaking people have problems with the grammar, especially the spelling...

Yeah, if you've got a 911, Thol, then, then, well, I don't know! But I'm not happy!!!

Oh and by-the-way, I'd rather own a Ferrari 575 M Marenello, then a Honda Civic. I do have taste, just not lots of money!

However, a used Jeep Wrangler from my uncle will probly be me and my brother's car for a while

How fun:rolleyes:

Many other little things too, and the first thing I do will be a new paint job, dull black.

LOL, that's classic. Gotta have downforce on a front-wheel drive car, especially at the blistering speeds you'll undoubtedly be doing around town. Must have the professional-grade Rustoleum paintjob, too.

Your whole car is Japanese....what would you call a non-Jap **** motor? If you lighten the car up a little, don't put any gaudy-looking wings or **** on it, leave it looking mostly stock, and then do a B16 or H22 motor swap, I wouldn't call that rice or a crummy little Civic. Just stay away from the ugly non-functional stuff, like a chip (on a stock motor = worthless), wing, spraycan paint, etc. Imports can be made fast....but it takes more than a parkbench wing and a fartcan to do it. ;)

Yeah, Ash, I catch your drift. My friend wants me to do all this stuff to my car but I told him, I'm pretty much going to leave it stock, except for the engine, of course. The only reason I'd get a fin is for the downforce, not for the looks, so I'm not gonna do much extra. Thanks for the tips! By-the-way Ash, what are you driving?

Man, thol! I want a leather jacket so bad, $250! Wow, sounds pretty nice.

Good plan, except the wing. Look at the physics of it. Let's say you mounted a big wing on the back of your car. At high speeds (like highway and above, not something you'll probably be doing all that much), the wing acts as an airfoil and pushes the rear of the car downward. Now, on a rear-wheel drive car, this would be great, because the extra downforce would give the drive wheels (rear) extra traction. On a front-wheel drive car like yours, though, all it can do is make the car more unstable. Think about it - your front wheels are pulling the car along, and your wing is pushing the back of the car downward, which of course makes the nose rise, which in turn actually reduces the traction of your drive wheels. So if you do it, keep in mind that it is only for decoration and serves no useful purpose. :)

Well since I don't care about looks I might follow up on your suggestion Ash. You do have a point, on a FWD a fin would be of no purpose, except to waste money and in the long run not help, but hinder.........hmm........... Well all's I know is that my car needs a CD player in it first, so I will do that, and the paint job. Yeah, I've got a friend who loves American cars, personally I can't stand anything made by Ford, or anything made in the US in general. But I guess I got my wish, getting a Japenese car, although not the greatest.

It's my lucky hat. You'd be surprised how superficial I am about that hat.

I wore it to one cross country meet and it just so happens that it was the day I pr'd (personal record) by a minute, and won the JV city championships as a freshman.

So you can see why I love the hat.

Turin
11-14-2003, 05:22 PM
Click 'post reply' then write whatever, then go to the place under the posting box and you should see the word 'Browse' click it and select the pic from your hard drive that you want to post. If that doesn't work then your pic might not be the right kind of file.

Celebthôl
11-14-2003, 05:22 PM
Make it a JPG file, then scroll down on the reply page, and there is a box called "attach file" click brows, search for your pic, then double click it and then his "submit reply" it'll take a min or two to post.

Talierin
11-14-2003, 07:17 PM
And whatever you do, don't click Submit Reply again while its posting the pic, or you'll end up with two posts! Be patient, it usually goes through after a bit, even though it seems to take forever

It was a joke, sorry about it. To my mind, it is preposterous to say that France does what other people want her to do; by the reasons you state. It is exactly the absurdity of it that prompted my joke... to me it is similar to say:

Hara-Kiri (Jap. Hara, the belly; kiri, to cut). A method of suicide by disembowelling practised by Japanese military and government officials, daimios, etc., when in serious disgrace, or when their honoru was postiively impugned. Hara-kiri or Happy dispatch was praticed from medieval times but ceased to be obligatory in 1868. The act was performed with due ceremony. A lw of 1870 granted the privilege of Hara-Kiri to the samurai, in lieu of the death penalty. It was abolished as an official practice in 1873.
Brewer's Concise Dictionary of Phrase and Fable.

That doesn't tell you that the proper term for the ritual suicide is seppuku, and it doesn't say how the term came to be a folk phrase in the states. And it doesn't tell you that it involves the dishonored person kneeling, disembowling themselves, and then being beheaded by their second (if they were a man. Women cut their throats).

Before and After the viewing eh? So thats what? 3 1/2 hours that those people in the back-ground stood in those exact same possitions? :D

Well we took both of 'em after it as over, didn't think of the idea until then. We were doing the Wave as the lights went down at the begining and as the credits rolled as well.

Did you see the giant drink next to me? That was the cause of me having to go to the bathroom twice during the movie. When I'm watching something I subconciously sip, and keep sipping.

I brought only a very small drink with me, so I wouldn't have to get up. :D

And for my fellow lazy people, a handy reference to my long annoying chunk of pictures:

Me with Lomelinde and Raithnait (http://www.thetolkienforum.com/attachment.php?s=&postid=387996); I made the shirts for their Christmas presents.
...you get one guess to figure out which one is me.

The required squish-our-heads-together-and-hold-out-the-camera shot (http://www.thetolkienforum.com/attachment.php?s=&postid=387991)- That's me in the middle.

This is one of my favorite pictures. Great pose for an album cover- the Wyrd Sisters (http://www.thetolkienforum.com/attachment.php?s=&postid=387990)!

Love those trees (http://www.thetolkienforum.com/attachment.php?s=&postid=387987) . We designated Lomie's backyard as our Ithilien.

Looking poised and reflective and- blaugh! Rhi does not look good in profile! Aw, whatever (http://www.thetolkienforum.com/attachment.php?s=&postid=387985).

There was this weird spiny branch thing that stuck out, and we kept getting caught on it (http://www.thetolkienforum.com/attachment.php?s=&postid=387982) ...I just like this picture for some reason.

Rai and I walking towards the camera. (http://www.thetolkienforum.com/attachment.php?s=&postid=387980)

The entire motley crew (http://www.thetolkienforum.com/attachment.php?s=&postid=387973) on our way to the midnight showing. From the left, my sister Rachel (wearing my other sister's Halloween costume), Lomie's "normal" friend Amy (wearing Beren's Sacred Hat), Rai (eyes closed, of course ), Lomie (looking gorgeous), Beren (looking adorable), and me (looking stupid- what happened to my face? It looks...squashed. Scary).

This is Lomie and Beren (http://www.thetolkienforum.com/attachment.php?s=&postid=387972), whose real name is Zach, but I never call him that.

The Fates (http://www.thetolkienforum.com/attachment.php?s=&postid=387970), or the Wyrd Sisters, as we like to call ourselves- from the left me (in blue), Lomelinde (in green- isn't she pretty?), and Raithnait (in red- she made both her dress and Lomie's).

And here is me, in my dress, the best picture of me- Rhiannon in costume (http://www.thetolkienforum.com/attachment.php?s=&postid=387968)

How can you survive after drinking in that movie? I had to run out during a climatic scene to use the bathroom and I only had a medium Dr. Pepper!

The local hospitals should provide free lessons to all LotR fans.

Also, Rhia, I like your hair. :) (And your dress...purrrrrrrrrrdy)

Rhi knew better than to even buy a soda. Also she was broke, but she wouldn't have gotten one anyway, being clever and things.

Thanks, Wonks! *preens* My hair looks really blonde in some of those pictures...most strange.

Do you talk about yourself like that cos you REALLY have super amounts of self-confidence...or is it all an act and an attempts to boost self-confidence?

*is aghast*

Anyway, as much as I'd LOOOOVE to tell you how cute you are...I can't access those pictures! It tells me I don't have permission.

Do you talk about yourself like that cos you REALLY have super amounts of self-confidence...or is it all an act and an attempts to boost self-confidence? I really don't think it is either. I have self-confidence as far as looks go, but I don't think that's the reason I say I'm cute. I think that's just to keep up a persona involving kittens and to prompt comments because I wanted to get some convo. going.

Anyway, as much as I'd LOOOOVE to tell you how cute you are...I can't access those pictures! It tells me I don't have permission. Tell Beorn. I saw another post from someone complaining aobut this just the other day. There's something going on if it is doing this.

They aren't working for me either. . .or to clarify, the ones in my post work, but not any of those prior (I tried Rhi's and Iceman's). Something's going on.

Really? That one just frightened me.

But not as much as one of Snowdog from ago.
And I'm easily excitable.

I slept with the light on the past two nights after watching "The Ring" for the first time.

Bad bad bad. I'm afraid of the dark.

To me you look more like those cheesy personal ad flyers you can get for a quarter at the newspaper stand.

"I: 30-something Dragon with penchant for burning forests and capturing damsels in distress, You: Damsel in distress, smokers preferred. ;) Serious inquiries only."
