View Full Version : Which Character Annoyed you?

I'd go for Ginny. I don't like the progression of this character and felt that JK had done her a great disservice by doing too much fan service in the last two books. If she intended Ginny to be a major player in the story she should have done more than the sporadic mentioning of her in the previous five books.
I can understand the reasoning that the stories were written mainly from Harry's POV, but then again that just adds to the dilemma of the character--why has Harry not noticed her before? Why suddenly was she a force to be reckoned with in Book six?
It was too forced and the relationship between her and Harry was forced as well. I could actually see Harry falling for Hermione or even Ron for that matter more than Ginny.
Another character I despised was Professor Umbridge. Why was there no retribution for all the nasty things she did? She deserved some form of physical torture at least.

lol! The movie version of Voldemort was sexy though ;). So, I really can't dislike him that much. The book version is quite annoying, but not as much as Ginny.

Hehe!
Well I never really thought Ginny was annoying - but then I can't say I liked her either.
Umbridge was very annoying mind you - and it's a shame she didn't get her comeupence. But then I was always quite puzzled as to why the original Death Eaters were pretty much left to their own devices after Voldemort's first defeat. Sure a good few went to Azkaban (or rather a bad few) but what about the others? They were just left to get on with it. Never made any sense to me...

Ahhh... the loopholes in JK's stories are abundant! I love scrutinizing her work because there are just far too many issues I find in the HP stories that she has not addressed.
She actually made a statement about Umbridge before the last book was released. She said that Umbridge was getting her comeuppance in the last installment, so I was actually expecting that to happen. But it didn't.
As for the other Death Eaters, yeah, they kinda had it good for too long one has to wonder how they were able to escape the law, unless of course the Ministry of Magic was full of idiots even back then.

I chose "Other"....more specifically, Lavender Brown. She always annoyed me to no end. She was extremely ditsy, snobish and clickish and well, just plain dumb. And when Rowling made her Ron's love interest...I was outraged...How could she make Ron that clueless.
I also wasn't too fond of Cho Chang character either. At first I thought I would like her. But as her character progressed, she ended up being rather bland and uninteresting.

Oh, well, Lavender was quite annoying, I have to agree. As for the why-Ron-chose-her thing, I think it was more because Ron felt he had no one and went for the girl who noticed him first. Which is something that baffles me because it's a boy-thing, you know? They don't go for the girl who's good for them, but rather go for the most convenient girl, which is stupid! So yeah, I agree! She was annoying!
Cho Chang is also someone who I wanted to Avada Kedavra the moment she started whimpering about Cedric. I hated the film Cho Chang too. She just can't act.

I agree about both "Lav-Lav" and Cho. I think they were too two-dimensional to be turned into love interests for main characters.
Someone who annoyed me more and more as the books progressed was Cornelius Fudge. He started out as being a little narrow-minded, but generally good-natured. His character grew much worse in a rather short space of time, and I couldn't understand why.
Okay, so he wanted to keep his job, and he thought pretending that everything was hunky-dory was a good way of doing so. But still... I think his character wasn't very well-developed. And he didn't even get a chance to redeem himself. I mean, even Scrimgeour, who was portrayed very negatively from the start, redeemed himself somewhat by not giving away where Harry was. Would it have been so hard for JKR to have Fudge appear in the final battle, maybe together with Percy (two ministry outcasts)?

JK has a penchant for using her stories to mirror real-life events (or so I was told). So maybe the progression of this character mirrors something she has observed in the local politics in her native England. Let's say, a prime minister maybe? Who knows. But I agree with you on this one. Fudge went from annoying in book 1 to absolutely ridiculous in book 4. It's a good thing he was replaced.
