I think we do it because we'd like to be someone else or somewhere else. but everyone wants to be somewhere other then where they are or someone other then who they are. Not that i'm saying that I'm against the whole forum RPG scene because i RPG all the time. In truth, I think the imagination that we use to create the characters and make stories is probably the coolest thing we have. because people who lack the imagination to create such things are the people who make the world boring... that's my opinion

Really? Well, if you ask me, Reoko was a b**ch...but then again, most of you knew I thought that way. ;)

And as for geeks, there is this kid at school, who has read the LoTR. He is like the smartest person I know (one of 2 I consider as smart or smarter than me). He comes to school every day and tries to stump me with LoTR trivia, and, to be quite honest, I havent read the series in 2 years. He has yet to stump me, not even almost. And I can fire right back with this little pointless fact that gets him every time. And then there is this other kid, who is about 1/2 way through the sil. He has flunked a grade and isn't just the smartest. He can even stump the incredible me sometimes at sil trivia. (which could have something to do with his current reading of it) And he is a much bigger fan than the smart kid. (not to mention he doesn't act as freakin gay as the smart kid... but that is another story)

Moral? There might be a small one about Tolkien having nothing at all to do with brains, it is all in your heart.
