Ciryaher
01-18-2002, 03:49 AM
The dazed people found themselves lying on a beach, some of them with water lapping against their feet. Ciryaher was standing, looking quite dazed. "I have overexerted myself. Let us rest here for a while, for the weakness you feel is a result of having your...pieces...rearranged," he said smiling.
Ciryaher helped Kementari to her feet, and walked over to a cluster of trees and vegetation to rest.
Mithrandir

Mithrandir picks up his staff and goes over to Talerin, "get up Tal. we are here", he then goes over w/ tal to where Ciryaher and Kementari are,"Let us rest. Dope i forgot my bow and quiver from Mike B.", Mithrandir closes his eyes there is a flash and poof the bow and quiver appear in front of him,"There we go now I am ready to go"He then pulls out his sword and starts polishing it.
Dengen-Goroth

Even as the travelers traversed ME Dengen is deep in the dungeons of Barad-Gostannen.
"You foul swin! Whois your master, who commited this action!"
"Nay my lord, you are my master."
"Do not bring cursesto my name! rabble, fool, you should be burned where you stand! I tell you anew, who is he, where does this one abide!"
"In the Eastern Sea, In the Northern reaches of it!"
Within the rise and set of a moon Dengen is deepwithin his holdings in the east, and finally reaches the arrea he ahd desired to locate.
Mithrandr sheilds his eyes against the blazing sun. Suddenly tal cries out.
"A ship, with the emblem of the lord of the East!"
Indeed it was, great from prow to stern it seemed, mighty and glorious. it approache with haste. A messenger with blue eyes and tanned skin hoped into the water and approached them, the waves lapping against him armour clad legs.
"Hail travelers! My lord sent us to bring you supplies, as well as transport if you so will, to our nearest port."
Ciryaher stood and spoke, "Why is it that your Lord did not great us himself, and sent by an envoy? And though you display his banner under light, is it what you still hold under moon?"
"You suspect me of much Lord Ciryaher of Arnor, yet I am not an evil come to plague you all, nor to bring ruin to your quest in peril. I come to aid."
"I hope so, for your own safety, for we are a group of very powerful individuals, great in strengh and greater in knowledge. We shall hold council as to what we shall do. Yet who is your lord, for I am familiar with this banner and it is that of Dengen-Goroth."
"Yes, indeed you are correct. My lord is the governor of the eastern holdings and reports to Goroth. He has been told of your plight, yet we know not of where the Great Lord lies. Some say he was seen not long ago in the northeast of here. Yet a very strange occurance was to be seen by many and heard by more. ot more then two to one night ago there was a great storm to the north. It was racked with great explosions, or so we heard, and even more by horrible waves. We fear Ulmo has brought fort despair upon our heads for the light." he looked with fear at the sky.

***Note***
What I am about to post happened to me before the boat came.......
Mithrandir sat w/ his friends regaining his strength, faster than most thanks to his exceptional power. Something struck him, this journey, it's importance, and the power of those that stood around him. "None have them have ever seen my true form, no one on earth has. If I am to convert to this form I will never be able to go back to my old man form. But ths form is holding so much of my power back, and other things as well. I have come to a decision."
Mithrandir stands up and addresses all those present.
"I have been thinking my friends, and have made a decision. All the time you have known me I have taken the guise of a weak old man clad in white. Little did you know that this form actually held back much of my power. I have taken into consideration this journey and it's importance. I will now go to my true form, once I have none will ever see me in the form I have taken for so long. Goodbye my friends, I come back as the true Mithers.(Don't worry my personality wil not change @ all :D)
Mithrandir vanishes and reappears about a hundred feet away from the group, he starts shining a bright light, and eventually all that can be seen is a giant plasma ball. In a second the ball explodes and there is Mithrnadir standing in a giant crevace.
The other members of the fellowship look at him in amazement he is completely changed. before them stands a new and mysterious figure. He is a tall elven like being. He has sharp elven ears, grey hair, and the height of a man. He is clad in white, even the breastplate aromor he wears is white, w/ a white cloak that has a red interior. On the back is the emblem of the white council in silver. Attached to his mithril belt is his majical sword given to him by none other than King Eomer of Rohan, and his Mithril bow. Slung across his back is his Mithril quiver given to him by Mike B. for his Birhtday.
His eyes seem to have a glow to them as he approaches the company, he takes a deep breath,"Now I am @ my fullest, in this form I am able to realease my full power if I choose, and I will never be clad as an old man again. I am ready for anything now. My archery skills, and sword skills have now been perfected, but there are no words to express the power my majic now has, I hope this will aid the company a lot." Once he is finished saying this the ship arrives.
Aerin

*Slaps herself for posting in the wrong thread.*
*Aerin walks over to her horse, and an instant later, she is in the saddle. Riding Tsornin over to the edge of the sea, she calls out*
"Hail Lord of the East. Have you news of our common foe?"
*Tsornin prances uneasily at the sight of the large ship. After living in the desert for all his life, the sight of a ship is likely to unnerve the horse! :D
Aerin looks curiously at Mithers*
"You've changed a bit. I don't know wheter I liked the old or the new you." :D
*Aerin grins impishly.*

The messenger stood beholding the travelers as they began to converse, council over what way to travel, and what to do with the great boat before them. The messenger, hearing ill of his ame, walks towards them, even as Mithrandir stands.
"We have been long in thought, and time is indeed ebbing into oblivion. So tell us your pligh, your tale. How did you learn of this news, and why did you arrive to us?" The others nodded in solemn agreement.
"As I spoke earlier, the governor of the East learned quickly to be on watch for traverlers from the west, by command of Goroth, a you call him in the west. So indeed we did, and so a very peculiar sight with the storm. Some dark powers were at work, and we knew that full well." He stopped to point to the North.
"There indeed was great tumult, and the waves roared in fury. my brother was, by theory, to have just been leavng the area to go southwards when this occured. Also a streak of light was seen over the skies. Some said the Final Battle was upon us, and the Great Star had fallen. Quickly my lord sent me southward, on this great ship. yet an unearthly silence prevails now, over the seas, as if upon the brink of doom. I feel as but a grain of salt beneath the mighty boots of Behemoths."
"So that is all. Tell us now, do you posses any form of knowledge of the occurence to the north?" Spoke Tal.
"Nay, naught save great dread was born on the crests of the waves. Many are said to have been lost there."
"Indeed sorrowful news, very well nw we must reach our verdict, as to go by foot, or by wave. Our plight is dire, and the fate of the World lays upon this, so tell one more parcel of truth. Where shall we go if we venture onboard your galley?"
"You shall quickly be brought to my Lord's City, beautiful beyond compare. I shall reveal this of it. Goroth spoke with the ithryn Luin when they passed through here, and with their aid we embarked upon the construction of a great city. They, as well as Goroth, knew well that the west could not hold peace for long, and such a jem could only be built on the coast of the East. it is said to be man's replica of Gondolin, beautiful, glorious, and shimmering. it runs around a great mountain, and it's glorius center is within the center of the Mountain, which was hollowed out. Your eyes shall tear at this site, beautful as the rising sun. There the Pillars of the West and East glimmer with gold and jems from all of this Middle Earth. And on the summit of the great mountain lies the Hall of Peace. There rules of the Governor. beautiful being compare-"
"Yet shall fall to ruin if our quest fails." Interrupted Mithrandir, What is the name of thiscity, for I have heard somewhat of it in tales."
"Dunwain it is called. At least in my land it is, I do not know the true name, for the true name of the City is known by very few and far between. I await your decision my friends."
Talierin
01-19-2002, 10:57 PM
*Tal drags her very wet self out of the ocean, and stands before Cir, who is laughing at her. "You just had to practically fling us in the ocean, didn't you! I'll get you later!" She sighs and sits down to wring out her clothes and stuff as best as possible.*
Mithrandir
01-20-2002, 01:26 AM
"Indeed, this traveloer seems to make much sense. I cast my vote to go by boat, I long to see this city, and I feel no danger from the messenger. If he is a fake surely he and his crew would never mach up tot the powers present in this company. I dougbt they could even take one of us. I suggest we take the ride offered to us."
Mithrandir waits for the rest of the group to cast their vote.
Arathin
01-20-2002, 01:29 AM
All this time Arathin had been under a tree sharpening her sword. "Well," she finally speaks up. "If Mithrandir has revealed his true strength, then so shall I. For behold," she throws off her stained cloak, "I am the half-sister of King Aragorn and the half-sister of Glorfindel, High Elven Born." All are amazed as they stare at her, for she seems to have grown in majesty and now seems like an Elven-queen from one of the Ages past and long forgot. Her sword flares in her hand, and her mithril armor gleams hard and cold in the dying light of the Sun.
Arathin
01-20-2002, 01:31 AM
"I also agree with Mithrandir. Let us take the boat. We have not the time to walk or ride by land." Arathin stride up beside Mithrandir.
Ciryaher
01-20-2002, 01:45 AM
Ciryaher chuckled softly at the soaked Talierin, and said, "My apologies. It is difficult to travel thus with great precision."
Turning to Mithrandir and the herald he spoke, "I suppose the Sea is the fastest way of traveling, but I shall not enjoy it. How far is this great city of which you speak from here? We must not stray to far from the Belt of the Earth, lest my power to keep the Sun afloat wane."
Aerin
01-20-2002, 06:37 AM
*Aerin has convulsions of laughter at seeing the dripping Talierin making her ungraceful exit from the cold clutches of the sea. When Tal turns to look at her, she quickly subsides.*
"I care not by which way we travel, as long as we arrive in time to defeat this enemy. Whichever way is the quickest, I am prepared to take."
*Turning to the captain of the large vessel, Aerin asks:*
"Is there room aboard for my horse? He needs only a stall, food, and water. If I may be so allowed, I can exercise him on deck."
*Once again looking at Talierin, Aerin snickers softly.*
Dengen-Goroth
01-20-2002, 01:51 PM
The messenger stands attent as the members deliver ther verdict. He addresses them anew:
"Dunwain is some ten leagues from here. On this ship it shall be a quick journey, for I set out late in the night yestereve. There perhaps aid may be given with holding the sun till you reach the gates. It is a center of Lore as well. I know many of you believe us of the East to be simple and barbaric, from the wars with the Dark Enemy many years ago. Though some have caused you chaos, us who remain far in the east have not. There we have ammased great scrolls, some from Numenor herself. Though how they were attained I do not know myself."
Turning to Arathin he speaks, "I am humbel to be in the midst of such a lady, and yet it seems now that the value of mithril has fallen, for all wear, and it is to be seen everywhere in the West." Then to Aerin, "Indeed there is, we have some horses of our own berthed below, but one stall with spacious room and the finest of food and water may be arranged with due ease. Now come, there are wild and dangerous creatures afoot here, you have chosen a very dark area to find yourselves. Unto the boat my friends!"
At this a great ramp was thrown down by two broad-shouldered men gleaming in their armour. The masts, which had been rolled as soon as the ship had dropped anchor, was now being raised again.
Valar
01-20-2002, 03:10 PM
*Valar stands up with a gleam in his eyes*
"I am indeed humbled, and in awe of the revealed majesty of my companions, being but a mere ranger (and a silver wizard:D )
Still if all is well shall we not depart, for time is short."
Kementari
01-20-2002, 06:54 PM
**
*Lol at Tal and Mithers :D
Kementari was overjoyed to see the sea agian. She rushed onboard and ran to the prow of the ship, leaning far over and letting her hair blow loose in the wind. She was a bit suspicious of these messengers and (with some difficulty) kept herself quit but watchful.
"I sure hope Cir doesn't get sea sick--
Ship king...indeed :)"

Mithrandir

Mithrandir slowly walks aboard the ship. He waits for Tal. and Aerin to come aboard so he can talk to them(just as long as Tal. doesn't hit him w/ a stick:p) "Shall we not begin Ciryaher?"
Aerin
01-20-2002, 10:16 PM
*Aerin lays her hand on the nose of Tsornin, and he willingly follows behind her up the gangplank onto the deck of the ship. After stabling belowdecks, she returns to the main deck and starts up a conversation with Mithers on subject of trumpet playing. :D *
"If anyone is to become seasick, I do not know if my powers over the water and weather will be of any avail. I just hope nobody feels queasy!"
Valar
01-20-2002, 10:26 PM
Valar walks on last, seeing as no-one wants to waits for HIM!:(

" The sky is darkening and a sense a quite before the storm, let us make haste, for time is short"
Talierin
01-20-2002, 11:59 PM
*Tal waves arrow in Aerin's direction, and snickers. She wonders how long it will take Aerin to realize what she did. She boards the ship, finding her sea legs immediatly. She never, ever gets sea/car/flying sick.*
Aerin
01-21-2002, 01:03 AM
*Aerin, after egging Tal to tell her, gives up on trying to figure out what happened to her.*
"Ciryaher, are you coming? We need to get on board so we can set sail immediately. In spite of the merry making, we cannot so soon forget the reason for this desperate quest. We must make haste!"
Mithrandir
01-21-2002, 02:08 AM
"Ahhhh yes, I know much about trumpet playing:p"
I do wonder what has happened to you Aerin, meaning what did Tal. do to you. Let's go Cir., let's go, let's go, let's go :p
Ciryaher
01-21-2002, 03:15 AM
Ciryaher hesitates for a moment, then steps aboard the ship.
"Let's get on our way," he says nervously, clutching Kementari's arm and shaking.
Lorien
01-21-2002, 10:41 AM
*And suddenly as Cir stepped on board there was a loud call and everyone aboard the ship started in surprise...for then they first met Lorien a half-elven half-vala and they stared at him in wonder for he was very tall and looked powerful....and rode a black horse of the brood of one of the horses oof the Nine Riders*
"I, Lorien, wish to join you on your journey and I bring with me the re-forged Gurthang and its lost twin!!"

The Messenger gave a call and the ramp was pulled away from the bay. The sudden blare of Trumpets filled the air as the ship set sail northward. The ship was indeed traveling quickly, and the shore seemed to them to fly. Soon however dark clouds overtook them, and vicious winds began to blow blocking out the sun, sending them into a dreary night.
"Below decks my friends, soon the waves will by monstrous!" cried the Messenger, and they all complied. Once they were gathered below the ship began to sway this way and that, and great thudding noises permiated throughout the vessel.
"Who is navigating?!" came the cry fom Mithrandir.
"Do not worry, there are a few stout souls above who will manage, though this is one of the worst storms I have seen, in my life. It must be the remnents from the northern battle." Suddenly a pop was heard and water rushed towards them.
"A Hatch has popped! Woe be all!" The messenger sprang up even as the candles which had illuminated the cabin were extinguised. He ran out of the room and was smot by another influx of water, which sent him flying to the other side of the ship herself.
"Is it not our luck that we chose to go on such a vessel!" yelled Ciryaher.
"Calm yourselves, we need make hast to close the hatch, elsewise we shall perish in the seas!"Mithrandir spoke hastily. He hoped into the hallway and ran like mad to the hatch, only to be sent into the opposite wall by water wich poured through, yet did not end for near half a minute. Then it began again, but the passenger noted with horror that they wee now tossed upon the roof of the cabin.
"It has been flipped! Such a vessel, of this size must truly have been struck by a wave unimaginable!" Cried out Tal.
Then they were thrown back on the ground, but much pottery and the like had been broken and the ground was littered with debris. Lightning rumbled deeply overhead, yet it seeed to posses a voice deep. Suddenly a deep sound was heard from the boat, as if it were being pulled in two. It groaned and they heard wood splintering.
"She will break in two!" cried Aerin.
Lightning roared overhead as Mithrandir regained himelf and rushed out.
"I SHALL REGAIN MASTERY OF THE SHIP. REMAIN BELOW! CIRYAHER, KEEP THE HATCH CLOSED!" He shouted over the tempest which now assailed them with wrath and malice. Ciryaher dashed out and slammed the hatch shut. Darkness filled the chamber.
"The water broke the iron clasps, hand me somthing powerful which will hold better. let's make use of the mithril you all possess!" Soon the members had given all of their mithrl possesions to him and he began to make a crude latch. He leaned against the hatch even as a great raor came overhead and smote the hatch with a wave twice as powerful as any seen before by the fellowship assembled there. Ciryaher strained and gave a cry as he collapsed, but the hatch had remained shut. The others cried out and rushed to his aid.
'I am fine, though the wave was unlike any before I had seen in fury and strength. Quickly seal the do-" Even as he said that a gutteral groan was heard and something cracked. The howl of the wind, once muffled, was now heard very clearly, as was a deep groan from the seas and the blizzard of rain.
Mithrandir stood clasping a rail, hanging over the galley. he pulled himself upwards again and raised his hands. He was met with two great bolts of lightning which struck the stern of the vessel, blasting two great doors. The masts were ripped and could be seen as an outline against the lightning. The men who had been on the deck had been swept away quickly, and the boat had lost its way. Rails were broken, and the fierce cold daggers of the rain stabbed into Mithrandir's face. The ocean groaned deeply beneath him and fear filled even is heart. The ship began to plunge into a valley of water.
"NO!" he cried as he knew the great walls would descend upon them, and bring to an end their quest before it had begun.
Arathin
01-21-2002, 03:31 PM
Back below decks, Arathin had begun to glow with the light of Elves. In this holy light, she could see a head wound on Cir's head. "Ciryaher, let me bandage that for you." She knelt down and began to wrap his head with some clean linens. At one point the hatchet almost opened, but at a glance from her shut almost immedetly(sp?)

OOC: ROFL ship king...ship king :)

01-21-2002, 04:30 PM
OOC: has anyone else moticed that we are having some very bad luck with this mission?
Kementari
01-21-2002, 04:38 PM
OOC AGAIN: er why is Cir always the one that gets injured!?
**
Kem was not daunted by the storm. She did not fear the sea.
She went swiflty to Cirs aid, said a few hopeful things to him and helped Arathin with the bandages. Then she stood up and went out of the cabin and stood next Mithrandir. It was black night; rain was pouring down, the waves were voilently rocking the boat, and the deck was covered with foam that shown in the starlight. She lifted her arms and spoke out over the water " A Tar-Falasse, aicaielye, oantie maquetanlve sere" (lit. O Lord of the Coasts, you are fell, leave, we ask for rest)
Suddlenly the winds stoped and the seas calmed. Far away it seemed that two figures stood glowing amid the waves: The King and Queen of the Coasts.

And then a small vessal shot like a wedge through the wall of water, and coming beside the ship he called out. Aerin then came to the prow of the great ship and threw out her hands, the giant walls of water stood still, not knowing which of their masters to obey, they stood still and silent, caught in a limbo of powers. Elessar motioned for the companions to board his boat, for it was small, light, and speedy, and was built to withstand great storms in the west.
Arathin
01-21-2002, 07:17 PM
Arathin carries the injuried Ciryaher to Elessar's ship. "Hurry," she yells, "We must board 'ere the waves come upon us again." She leaps onto Elessar's boat. "You came just in the nick of time, Elessar. We were almost done for."
Valar
01-21-2002, 07:27 PM
"What about the crew of this ship, this vessel seems damaged beyond repair, shall a collect them?"
¤-Elessar-¤
01-21-2002, 07:31 PM
Okay, my ship hasn't quite got the capacity for the crew, barely even for the companions, I do think the storm is chasing us, though, and should leave them alone when we leave. However, does everyone wish to travel with me, It is my knowledge that some still hold a grudge where none should be. Elessar looks at the knocked out form of Ciryaher, he reaches into his pack and pulls out a very primitave smelling salt.
Ciryaher, wake up, we dont have time to sit here all day, Aerin probably cant hold that for too long.
*looks to the crew and to the companions
What shall we do?
Arathin
01-21-2002, 07:48 PM
"Good idea waking up Ciryaher. What should we do? I agree that the storm seems to be chasing us, and getting worse, but can we leave the crew? I think all should decide for themselves, but the choice must be quick. Aerin is loseing her hold on the waves. Mithrandir can't you grant some of your strength?"
Valar
01-21-2002, 08:21 PM
"I do care which path we take, but i counsell everyone to take Elessars ship."
"I shall follow where ever is needed"
Valar
01-21-2002, 08:32 PM
"But surely we cannot leave this valiant crew behind, they do not know the danger"
¤-Elessar-¤
01-21-2002, 09:54 PM
The facts still remain, I can hold only 10 or 20 people at most on my small vessle, and that crew is at least two hundred. What of it, other members of the fellowship, wilt thou come with me or sail...this...to wherever you go? I can tell you that I will take any who wish to the city, But I, myself, cannot, will not, enter it.
Mithrandir
01-21-2002, 10:00 PM
"I will go wherever Ciryaher decides to go!!!!!!!" Mithrandir then picks up his hands and begins to put forth his power to aid Aerin in holding the storm back,"We now have more time, but even me and Aein's strength combined can not hold the waves forever, please Ciryaher make your desicion soon."
There seems to be much anguish in Mithrandir's face because he is fighting a giant power......
Valar
01-21-2002, 10:10 PM
"And i shalt go wherever Mithrandir goes!!
"But i think the rest of us shall goes use our strength to help repair the ship and prepare the crew, for if we must depart we must at least help them prepare for the onset of the storm"

01-21-2002, 11:39 PM
The messenger opened one eye and flinched. The taste of blood and salt water was on his tongue, and he staggered to his feet, even as the ship or the sea below groaned in a majestic war of powers. He stumbled about in the hallway, he had fallen into vertigo, and the darkness seemed to swirl about him. He heard muffled shouts below deck, and despaired. Moving as quickly as he could in the direction of the hatch as he remembered it he fell. Crawling he found it, broken asunder and a beautiful belt of true sliver aside. He took it and climbed onto the deck, where he was met with the scent of the sea, and a very dark silence, broken by a groan from the deeps every now and then. He saw the shape of Mithrandir, seemingly straining. He crawled ever faster and staggered to his feet. He began move quickly and Tal noticed him, as did the others, as he slipped on the water and slid over the wet deck, plummeting into the sea. Instantly he was sucked below into the icy cold depths, it drew him deeper in, ever deeper. He opened his mouth in a scream, which was not heard in the abyss he saw around him, a dark blue filled with the unknown, as far as his eyes could see. Suddenly the grip he had felt was released. He felt himself shooting upward, ever higher. Yet his lungs were filled with the water, and all before his eyes was filled with dark spots. He did not struggle, simply resigned to his fate even as he broke above the water next to a small boat. The others quickly pulled him onboard and did their best to revive him. In the end only the power of Kem could do so, and when he opened his eyes again his words were slurred. After a few moments he was again able to speak, though with a weak voice.
"My friends, I fear it is the end for my crew and myself. I am the son of the lord of Dunwain; my older brother may very well have died in the same storm that takes my life. But my father needs to know, he must...must appoint just measures...Give him this." He moved his hand, which only now they noticed was bloody and torn, and pulled from beneath his garments a pendant. It had something inscribed within it, and gleamed. He then put forth the belt.
"One of you hath forgotten it below. My men are trapped; the water has undoubtedly broken some of the munition crates, and has let lose many rodents that called the ship their home. Leave them be. Just one request my dear friends, nay two."
"Yes, we shall be more then obliged." Spoke Valar.
"Bring me back...back on board...with tor...torch. And tell my father of what hath occurred here...give him the amulet..."The nodded and then he was brought onboard the ship.
So it was that one of the most beautiful and mighty vessels seen was ruined beyond repair with the fellowship' hands. By an ancient custom of the east employed by the mariners there the messenger stood alone, though shakily, and walked below deck. Even as the party went into council a deep horn was blown, the horn of the ship, and a chorus of voices was heard chanting:
"She sailed carrying ever on without end,
She went to the farthest reaches over the earth's cursed end.
Through night and day she toiled away through the merry shores,
Mighty was her prow and stern, graceful were her oars.
Now she sails one last time into the darkening night,
Never again will be heard her horn nor her plight.
The mariners of the East are we graceful and yet strong,
Knowledge of the Ancient Seas we keep in our hearts long.
Through quit and clear blue seas we sailed here ever more,
Yet now we fall into the storm and never see the shore.
Our lands are behind and deaths ahead so light the flame indeed,
Our minds no longer dwell upon the taverns and the mead.
Our hearts are cold as earthly stone as dark sea undying dread,
And to the fate of the second born our withered souls are led.
So light the flame and light it fast the night is drawing nigh,
Beneath the waves, the mammoth crests forever let us lie.
Together may we be for long our ship and our souls,
Forever sailing through the skies taking no more tolls.
Burn now,
Shine how.
Light the bright red flames through the ship which tore,
Water can not touch what burns ever more!"
With that even as the party looked on a smoke billowed upward into the sky, they had light the ship on fire, perished in the same flame.

Arathin bows her head in silence as the ship and crew are consumed. "Those were brave souls." She shakes her head sadly. *Sighs deeply* "We must now away from this site of death and decay. For now time does waste and we are in need of haste. Quickly now or all is lost."

Hurry aboard then, he shouts to the companions, it would now seem that they have no choice. And, even as the burning ship was begining to sing they heard a strange sound, Aerins horse lept to the prow of the burning ship, and then made a graceful jump to land safely on the deck of Elessar's boat.
"Here, I'll put him in the lower deck"
Elessar disapears for a moment and comes back to the surface. He then took to the controls. He fingerd a golden chain around his neck and pulled it out, it was a small greyish green stone, the same color of his eyes. He griped the stone in his hands and concentrated for a second. Bright green light shot out from his fingers, and his eyes lit like fire. He raised his hands to the sky and the boat moaned as it was lifted into the air, It then shot through the towering waves of water just as the wizards lost their hold on it. Going through the wall of water was a strange experiance, all of the companions had been told to hold tight to whatever they could find. The wall was only two or three hundred feet thick, but, unlike an ordinary wave, fish were swimming all around them.
The companions were finnaly free of the wave, and they landed with a soft pat into the water, a mile or so from the center of the storm. Looking back they could see the clouds and lightning raging in the distance, but contrary to their thought, the storm progressed south and eastward. Elessar anchored the boat for the night, he knew not yet where they were to go.

"We must continue quickly for i can still feel a fell spirit in the air.....maybe even the one who raised that last wave......"
"And although we are very powerful i have a dark feeling in my heart that the fell spirit is growing stronger....."
Mithrandir
01-22-2002, 07:06 AM
While the ship was taking it's course Mithrandir went below deck, slowly regaining his strength. Now that we are stopped for the night he went and talked to Elessar,"My friend, I notice something odd about you.Tell me, Where is your sword? it is the first time since I met you long ago that it is not w/ you. and also how does Rivendell fare since we left you, and are you to go to the end of our journey now with us?"
Elessar looks at Mith. strangely for a few seconds, shocked by his new appearance, and the phenominal power that he feels in him, but then he responds.....

"What is happening here....??" queries Lorien.....
"Look there's a dark shape in the waters below....."

Elessar looks to the dark shape in the water, a mad light in his eyes.
"HA! A race it shall be then"
And with that he turned hard on the wheel of the boat, and pulled on another lever which sent the sail into full exposure. If boat's could peel out on water this would had done it. The extreme force of the acceleration left most of the passengers on their backsides, and the force of the abrupt about-face left most of them piled on top of one another in a small corner in the back of the vessal.
"Onward, to the great city of the East"
Arathin
01-23-2002, 03:45 AM
Elessar what are you doing? screamed Arathin as she tries to keep her feet. She suceeds only by wrapping her arms around the rail. What is that shape Elessar. Do you know?

*The light in Elessar's eyes grows, but they can all see that the stone is no longer around his neck. He throws his arms into the air and the boat is airborne, the strain is obvious in his face. The boat hung there, suspended in mid air, then Elessar passed out. The boat hit the water with a sickening thud, and the wind again took the sails. Elessar's limp body flew across the boat, he hit his head on a mast and lay there, motionless, as the world sped by.

Ciryaher opened his eyes and smiled. Then, rising to his feet, he said, "I am now rested. Indeed, it took far less time than I had expected. We have no time to waste with such petty creatures such as these!" He pointed his finger at the beast and slowly traced it towards the sun. There was a great flash and a deafening crack as a ray of light stabbed into the demon and blasted it apart.
"I have no hidden form to show you," Ciryaher said grinning, "But I shall help as I may. I shall perhaps explain my...uneasiness around the sea, but at a later time. For, now, we have much need of haste. Let us go to this city and tarry no longer!"

A few hours passed and the Company came finnaly to the Dunwain. They were docked in the Royal Harbor and were told that they were expected. When most of the companions were off of the boat one of them mentioned Elessar, The grizzly old soldier who seemed to be in charge of the gard went down to take a look at him, He was gone for less that a minute. He came back to the top, his face was white and he seemed to be shaking. He spoke to the companions.
"You may leave him down there and let him rest, but as soon as he awakens you must take him from the city, far from the city."
The man turned on his heals, and ran off twards the capitol, muttering something about big news.

We've landed? Well at least I'm rested now. Whatever hit me has passed. Ciryaher, I hope you know that you did not eliminate that balrog. You have only pushed him aside for a time.
So what kind of weapons do we need to take? Real or "magical"?

A small lad, in his mid-teens approached the vessel. He stood on the dock and waited while the companions debated, they soon realized his presence and began to stare back at him. Ciryaher finnaly spoke up and asked the lad what his buisness was. The lad said that he was looking for a person named Meldamith, the boy could not pronounce it very well and only Kementari could make it out. He looked about anxiously, clearly beleiving the man was with them. Mithrandir spoke up, saying that they had never heard of the man, and that they had important buisness they had to tend to. The boy, now despirite, began to describe the man, tall, dark, quick to anger, and fiercly competetive. They knew on instant who the boy was speaking of, and wondered what kind of impact Elessar had had on these people. Valar was the first to speak, he told the boy that the man he was looking for was in the boat, but resting and that the boy should come back later. But, even as the words escaped his mouth a shadow appeared on the boat, they turned and saw Elessar, leaning upon the form of Arathin, outlined in the late afternoon sun. The boy let out a strange sound, and ran to Elessar. Elessar, with a mix of joy and pain in his eyes, loosened his grip on Arathin just enough to give the boy a firm handshake and a small pat on the back. He introduced the boy as Tharin, a friend from long ago.
"Now, You all must go to the City, Tharin will go with you (whispers to Tharin) and he will guide anyone who wishes to see me to my camp."
*Everyone got off of Elessar's Boat, even Tharin who was sad to have to leave his friend so soon, Elessar turned the boat and it began to sail lightly across the harbor. He stoped, and turned his head to see the huge city, he looked tall and terrible at that time, and the guards near to the place turned their faces in anguish. He went back to the wheel and sped out of sight.

They moved down a great avenue very wide, one mile even. There was a bustle and they could not see far ahead, as there was a dense fog over all. Yet even as they walked they saw great Statues of Men, Kings. The avenue was of a green marble very strange to behold indeed. It seemed to glisten even as they walked over it in the dreary weather. They heard the sound of Hooves and were startled when a number of horses halted before them. The reigns were of a shining cloth, and the Riders wore beautiful armor, they themselves appeared as images from the past.
"Hail men of the west! We bring you these stallions to ride to the Pillars of the East. I shall be your guide"
The company rode quickly, and it seemed as though the avenue stretched onward for leagues. Mithrandir was the first to notice a great light to the west, it glimmered above all and the fog was less and less dens till they saw, looming before them, a great gate. It was beautiful; glimmering in a light of it’s own, crowned with glorious gems. The gate architecture was unparalleled in the west; Minas Tirith seemed to shrink in all of their minds as they beheld the gates alone. They were very tall, seemingly taller then anything they had before seen which was made by man. There was a great line of guards, their armor grand and silver, engraved with a strange symbol, a rising sun over a great mountain. The spears they held were shining as well. Their helms a deep gold, and their capes where gold, with the same symbol. They quickly moved and a great rumble was heard as the great gates opened. The entire area looked like a mountain, the gates were hewn in a brilliant replica of the base of one. And it appeared as though the mountain continued to rise ever higher above their heads. They entered a grand passage, incredible wide and high light with torches so large they could place a hobbit dwelling in them and have room left. They rode now quicker, yet looked about at the engravings on the stone, the history of Arda. After some time, and passing through more gates, they reached the last. A river bubbled and roared by, and they crossed using a bridge of some strange stone that resonated an unearthly and glorious tone. What they then beheld was beyond anyone’s wildest and strangest dreams.
A flock of birds flew overhead and the light of the sun glistened against the tall white towers and spires of Dunwain. The air was very pure, as if they had entered the forests before the Sun had first risen. They gapped at the gardens, which they saw lining the homes. It was a vision of Gondolin, light by night with great lamps of soothing toned light, and with a beautiful river, the one they had crossed, running through it. They rode onward, through the streets whose very pavement was of limestone polished and shining. The great buildings seemed strange, as part of nature as they were not. Fair people walked through the streets, and it bustled with activity. Yet they rode ever onward, and soon reached a great road that ran alongside the river. It moved ever higher, and ever more did they see of the houses, for they were ascending. In the center of Dunwain there was a mountain in itself. Great was it, noble and beautiful. From it ran the stream. They made their way up the mountain by way of a path forged of silver. Trees lined it, and as they looked about they were stunned. The sun was not setting, and this reminded them of their plight. They rode on ever quicker till the road itself chained hue. It was now golden, and embedded with runes. They were all astonished, all else in the west seemed a trifle to crude, a bit to barbaric, compared to this glorious city. The Rider halted and they did to.
“Beyond this bend you shall find the Pillars of the West. There the gates shall be open, and you shall be guided ever higher till you reach the entrance to the hall of peace. Farewell!”
Before the company could answer he was gone, downward into the sea of white, gold, and silver. The sky was an arid blue, and the silhouettes of birds overhead could be seen. They all saw a utopia sprawled before them. Finally their eyes beheld the Pillars of the West. There were 12 great Pillars, all inscribed with elf runes of the Noldor. The pillars were made of Black stone, of the like of Orthanc. They rode past the great pillars, and saw a tall man, clad in a white toga-like robe with an emerald stone set on his shoulder. In the East the stone was a sign of rank in those times.
“Hail! My wary travelers, a day would have passed since your arrival, for this is to great a city to pass in one day alone from one side to another. But with the sun not passing it seems like but a day, and the awe must have sent you far from sleep. Horses are not permitted past the Pillars, so come and follow. They dismounted and moved forward, yet even as they did four squires came forth wearing green robes and with no clasp. They quickly took their belongings and moved away from whence they had come. Now wat they had beheld was a resemblance of a Dwarf’s greatest dream. The escort spoke of how the dwarves had helped in constructing this, and how it was their hands that had crafted this. Many still roamed the great passages and corridors, yet in lower levels. These halls surpassed even those of khazad-dum, in its greatest stage! They saw great wonders then, and gapped in awe at the clear cuts of the rock. They ascended many stairs, and then they came to an opening which was of the height of a tall man. They passed through and came to a sprawling terrace, through which a small stream rolled. They beheld at last the hall of peace, even as the form of Dengen-Goroth came to great them.

Meanwhile Elessar set up camp a mile or so out of the City. It was nothing much, but the place held a sentamental value to him. After seting up the tents he began a fire. He then sat and pulled his Palantri from his pack. He looked into it, and into the past. After ten or so minutes he turned his head from the stone, wiping a tear from the corner of his eye. He then went over and sat on a cliff near the campsite, it overlooked the sea. His hand traced the ground, and he drew some of it up to his face, smelling its sweetness and remembering, always remembering...

Dengen-Goroth
01-25-2002, 10:53 PM
Dengen-Goroth smiled as the company stood gazing out over the city. Upon hearing Ciryaher speak he smiled openly.
“My Friend, indeed have we much to discuss. You need not worry of Her; she is kept as you wish even now. Come, let us talk within the Great Hall itself.” He motioned for the company to follow, which they did. They gazed upon the entrance to a great hall, light by great windows from the North and South. All was richer then before, is such could be. The passed through a number of well hewn chambers and passages till they reached at last two great doors engraved with Eastern Runes, unknown to nearly all in the Company. They opened without noise and they entered what appeared to be a great throne room. It had a massive vaulted ceiling, shaped like great branches. The Pillars were in the shape of blossoming trees, and touched the very roof. Indeed there were plants there, it seemed warm and welcoming, exotic and beautiful. A small stream ran past the eastern and western side, the beginnings of the great river. The fountain from which it first came was beside two sides of the throne. It in itself was glorious. It may not be described in words. There sat a kindly old man. He wore a black robe with a strange clasp. A long white beard ran down from his face, yet did not go too far as it was well trimmed. His eyes were blue as a clear pond, and yet his face was etched with lines of sorrow, care, and war. He rose to his feet and grasped a staff. He descended the steps towards them and bowed.
“Lords of the West, I am honored to be in your service.”
“Great Governor, the pleasure is ours I assure you.” Spoke Ciryaher.
“Your mind is keen my friend, this is indeed the Governor of Dunwain. We shall now converse by the eastern stream, as you may see there is a table set for this. Come.” They followed and sat, as light poured into the chamber and the sound of water permeated throughout it. It was a round table, with great seats of fine wood, padded with red velvet it seemed.
“Now then, as we are all gathered here I must say I am most pleased to meet you all, and am relieved to see your return. My own journey was very dark, and I shall speak of it now. Yet first tell me of your own journey.” Dengen-Goroth spoke with a friendly tone. Mithrandir recounted their journey, and the fate of the great vessel. Then Ciryaher moved in his seat. He held out an object and placed it on the table. The Governor took it and smiled.
“I fear your son perished there, in flame amidst the seas.” Spoke Ciryaher even as the Governor took out a scarf and seemed to rub his eyes.
“I have seen very much woe in my life. Oh why did I need this so near my end?” He spoke with a shaken tired voice, “So ends the last heir. Now more kin-strife shall ensue, I am sure. I have lost all, and been stricken with ever-greater odds and darker foes. But now I shall put that grief behind me, for it shall. His wife shall be most devastated I am sure. So brought to end are my three children, all by the dark waves of the Sea. Ulmo took distaste in me! But now, back to the affair at hand. We must speak quickly, for time is ebbing.” Dengen nodded and leaned forward, his Grey garments shimmered.
“So I shall begin my tale. Upon departing you in Rivendell I traveled eastward to my tower in Mordor, where my ever-vigilant spies had caught a wondering man who claimed to be a prophet of some doom or other. Yet when I heard what he predicted instantly I questioned him. Very few minds can withstand my probes and questions, and his was weak. I gathered important information, and raced eastward. I traveled over Great Plains, some fertile, others barren and wastelands. Finally I took to the north, till I came to a dark land. Its trees were bent and sullen, yet I found no dismay. I moved through and heard the rumor of something great and dark. So I moved ever onward, and then encountered a strange beast. Some dark tormented creature left to rot, but woefully had lived on. I brought to an end his misery, but soon felt very troubled, and the eaves of the forest bent in as if in anguish. I rode eastward anew, very quickly for a gray snow was beginning to fall, and it was bitter.
“I moved ever faster, as my stead is of noble lineage. Finally I came to the end of the dark wood, and saw the sea. Yet there was darkness over all, and a chill wind blew. The skies were dark and lightning crackled overhead. In the center of it all was something that drove a tongue of fear even into my heart.”
The company sat up in anticipation.
“A massive column of smoke and foam surrounded whatever it was, immensely tall it was. And there was another battling it. It seemed like great giants in wrath were attempting to kill one another. I told Maetha to run like wind, and so she did. I remained on the cliff and yet great waves and driving winds nearly made me topple. Yet I grew to and sent forth a wave of terror. For an instant the two seemed to shrink back, and beheld me, and I beheld them. I can not describe them, for my words would not make them out in anyone’s mind, save Kementari’s. So we did battle, and they were dire foes. All three of us battled the other, and the seas groaned in fear. The cliffs were broken, and the heavens shook vehemently. Yet they were great, and I but bested them for few moments. Great winds I summoned and drove them away. Yet even as they were sent away Great wave roared overhead and engulfed me. I do not know how I survived in this form, yet I did. The rest of the battle was much the same, and we brewed together a horrifying tempest. But I escaped, and fled quickly southwards. In fact I arrived but half a day before you. I am very tired, and word. This darkness is great, and its purpose is but one, to bring ruin to all. There is my news, what more do you have to say?”
Ciryaher rose quickly and spoke.
“Nevertheless we must move quickly. The Sun is fading, and behind this strange veil which covers the city I can perceive her naught."
The Governor nodded and spoke; though deep in grief he was.
“You need not worry. You are within a city of many great minds with some strength beyond the physical. We have crafted stones, which if needs be may keep a great body like the sun in place. Rest now, and let us continue with the council. Then I believe it would be best for all of you to rest, and then the plans for your journey to the gates shall be made. As for the veil you described, what did you see when first you reached the city?”
“Why but a tall mountain, though instantly as if we were perceived it reverted to a noble land.” Spoke Mithrandir.
“Indeed, as was Gondolin, we are shaded. If we were discovered our fate would be equal. The same crafts have allowed us to remain hidden. Now then, I grow weary of speaking, let someone else continue with speech!”

ooc: thanks dengen, that will flow well with the tale I sent to you.
Elessar turned to face Arathin, "no, many of them were happy, many of the happiest of my life. But alas, it would seem that all happiness falls short to woe and greif." Elessar picked up the plate, and smiled a tired but thankful smile. "Do not wory of it, it is a long tale, both of great joy and woe, but if you wish I shall tell you of it." A cool wind from the north blew upon the camp, Elessar walked over to his tent and returned with a blanket, He wraped it around he and Arathin's shoulders, and awaited an answer.

*puts his arm around her shoulders
Well, lets see now, I was a youngster, maybe of thirteen or so, when I grew tired of the world that had been presented to me. It was then that I learned of my heratige and of the line of Elros. Soon afterwards I became incased by a longing for adventure and knowledge, and struck out from home, on a great journey to the east. Many tales have I of what befell me in those years, but in my seven and tenth year I came finnaly upon my greatest destination, the Eastern Shore. I was the first of the line of the Kings of the West to reach the farthest east. I then grew tired of my wanderings, and heard tale of a great city, Dunwain. I moved to dunwain and became friendly to its peoples, helping out whenever I could, and never accepting payment. One day, as I was wondering through the woods. I stumbled upon a woman, dressed in wood garb. She was beautiful, and I instantly fell for her. I stayed in Dunwain for a long time, all the while the fair maiden and would be together, running through the woods, or playing in the waters. And yet a spy to the Governor came upon us one day in the woods, and he fled to his master. She was dismayed, and when I asked why she told me, she was the daughter of the Governor. I was calm, thinking the Governor to be a kind and understanding man, but when it came to his daughter he was not. I was arrested in the first hour of my coming back to my appartment in the city. I was immediately taken before the governor, and sentenced to death. Yet I had made many friends in the city, and they rebelled, causing great struggle in the city, not many people died in that struggle, but many hundreds of thousands were injured, and thus no report came ever to the ears of Dengen-Goroth. I was standing in the center of the city, when a group of thirty horsemen came upon my flank, and at their head was a man, tall and dark. I had dubed him Feamor, dark spirit. He was the general and champion of the Governor, and the suitor of his daughter. He came upon me and my men with a long spear, and my shield broke under it. I was flung into a dark ally, while I heard the sounds of my friends dying in the streets. There I saw a gleam in the darkness, an ancient blade. I saw shadows moving, coming into the ally. I dove for the blade, and grasped it with my good hand. I rolled across the ground and came to my feet, with three feet of steel buried in the breastplate of Feamor, I had killed my first man. The horror in the eyes of that boy, who was only sixteen, still haunts my dreams to this day. I then went out in search of my Finlaure. I had heard tale that she had fled to the south, and I knew exactly where to find her. I came upon my secret place in a short time, it was a cliff that overlooked the sea. There I saw her, she was facing the wood, but the light in her eyes was diminished, and she looked to me, and pointed to a notch in a tree. The she seemed to get smaller, but It was only the form of her body as it flew over the cliff, and into the watery depths below. I stood there, weeping for near to an hour, and Finnaly I went over to the tree, and found therein a small scroll. I could barely make out any of the words through my tears, and only remember something about loving her father, and me, and her soul splitting with great pain. There was a lock of her beautiful hair, wound into the scroll, and I took it, and hung it from a leather thong around my neck. And then I ran, in despair and sorrow, and made my way ever to the west. I wished only to forget the east, and the greif that I had encountered there, but the memories were to strong, and at nights I would find myself awoken by my own tears, gripping tight the her hair.
*Stands, and whipes a tear from his eye. He is now tall again, as no one had seen him in the past days.
"But now I must give her fully over to Ulmo." He took from around his neck a leather thong, but none had known it was there, for it had become the same colour as his skin, through much sweat and blood. He held it up to the light, and the hair indeed was golden. He reared back and threw it into the sea. "I must leave you now, my Finlaure, for I have a new life and a new love. *He cast the hair into the sea, and as it hit the waves a spirit arose from the water, It smilied a small smile, and then flew off tward the west, and to the halls of Mandos. Elessar sat down and turned to Arathin, he kissed her softly.

ooc: geeze, you people are slow! I am fairly sure that Ciryaher said "she" in referance to his magical sight. Oh, and the big, huge, glorious city you are in is Dunwain....geeze.
*Elessar awakens before Arathin the next morning, he arises quietly and walks over to his stuff. He gently picks a package from the mess of his pack. He opens it and it produces an ancient blade. It has many rust spots and looks as fragile as an autumn leaf. He also takes a small rock out of his pack, it is oddly shaped. He rubs it down the rust spots, and before too long they were scraped off. He then takes a sparkling cloth from his pocket, and rubbs the sword in it, the cloth began to glow with a golden light, as did his hands. When he was finished the sword looked as good as new. It was no magical blade, and was of no worth, as he had found it lying, disgarded, in a small allyway. He sheithed it and walked down to his boat. A few miutes later Arathin awoke, she heard a clamour abord the boat, and Elessar came out, in full golden armor, a crimson red cape flew behind him. She noticed the strange sword at his side, it was the one that he had so carefuly hung in his old hall in Thalionost. Elessar smiled at her. He pulled his hands from behind his back and showed her a silky blue dress. After she was dressed he mounted her upon Bill, and he mounted another steed. They rode off with Arathin still half asleep, tward the city of Dunwain. It was near to noon when they arrived at the city, they tied the horses up outside the city and began to walk tward the great road that ran to the gate in the wall. Their approach through the gate was halted suddenly by two or three guards, they looked nervously at one another. Elessar barked a word in the eastern speach and the guards ran, as though morgoth were on their heels. Elessar took off a golden gauntlet, and gripped Arathin's hand in his. It took them a good hours worth of stares before they finnaly came to the great palace, more crude words were said and they were reluctantly allowed to pass. They came to the door of the great hall, Elessar motioned for Arathin to stand back, and the raised his hands and the doors flew open, they hit the wall behind them with a clap of thunder. The servants in the room fled at his sight, and the Governor stood, and drew his great sword. Elessar called out. "Hail, Dengen-Goroth, Lord of the East, and hail, great Governor of Dunwain...

*Arathin had never heard the Eastern language before, and found it far too hard to grasp.
Elessar motions for her to stand back, and she DOES. She knows that he is very powerful and does not want to be caught in front of one of his spells.
After Elessar makes his greeting/annoucement, she leans over to whisper in his ear in the Quenya language: "Is this the same governor, my love? He doesn't look very pleased to see us. Please don't do anything rash and get yourself hurt."
*She continues to lean close to him. A little behind so that she is out of the way of any magical attacks, against which she has no protection. She knows that she can defend against physical attacks, but not magical.

Ciryaher looks deeply at Elessar while he was telling his tale.
"Indeed, the first sight of bloodshed, and the first slaying can indeed be a tax upon one's soul," he looks reminiscent for a moment, then returns to reality and continues, "These are indeed portents, comrades; of giant beasts and suitors and so on. What of the gates themselves? What has closed them, and why do they remain closed? For the gates must be held by strength of mind, and no physical bar may hold them shut. What lies yond to the east?"
Ciryaher twitches for a moment, and the ground trembles slightly. He seems to have ignored it, however, and stands stiffly waiting for answers.

*Nimawae's hope steps up beside Valar*
Yes, we must have peace between ourselves. It is the enemy's designs that we should have contention among us. If we continue to speak hard words to one another we have no hope of surviving his attacks. He would have us slay those who should be friends. It makes his plans run that much more smoothly. Please, I beg of you good people, no violence-no blood shed! Or it will be our bane!
*Turns to Ciryaher*
You are the one in command of these people, a few softly spoken words by you, and perhaps tempers will be soothed. Consider carefully the consequences that may follow heated words!

Elessar, having stood quiet for a while speaks quietly but firmly.
"Let the past be the past, the future is in our hands, let us not squander what little chance we have." He turns his eyes from the Governor and looks to Ciryaher, "There are two questions in my mind for you. First, What of Aerin? What could have become of the great spirit of the sun? And second, Are there any other Heliomancers, or anyone else you know of that has the power?"
He spoke strongly, but Arathin knew his fear, he was squeezing her hand in his, and he reached over and put his arm around her shoulder, seeking comfort.

*Arathin leans close to Elessar, silently giving him all of her strength. She bows her head on his shoulder. Only he can tell that tears flow down her cheeks because her long brown hair hides her face from the view of the others. Finally she lifts her head, and all can she her tears.
"Dear Governor," she whispered so that all could hear. "Do you only think of the pain that you suffered because of your daughter's death? Are you so blind that you never thought of the pain it caused Elessar? All his life until only yesterday he continued to love your daughter. In a way he still does love her. Can you imagine the anguish he suffered when he saw her leap into the water? Do you know of the devotion that lead him to always keep the lock of her hair that she left behind around his neck? You may not have known of these things, but now you do. All I have told you is truth. I know Elessar would never lie to me, and what I have told you is what he told to me. Would you even now kill him for merely loving your daughter? For if you will you will also have to kill me." *She wraps her arm around Elessar's arm, and kisses his shoulder beneath her hair. "I hope that helps my love." she whispers now so that only he can hear her.

01-29-2002, 01:38 AM
The Governor looked motionlessly at them all as the drama progressed. Upon hearing Ciryaher’s whispers his eyes seemed to grow bleary and after hearing Arathin he rose to his feet.
“Of course I have thought of that! Do you think I have not thought of it all in all the possible angles! But you all know but a quarter of this tale of woe! I shall retell it in full, though it pains me ever so, and thought the time is drawing nigh to the hour of test. Western, you wrought great havoc on my lands, my people, and myself. My daughter was to be married to he whom you called Feamor. They had known each other from the days when they played in the seas as but three years from birth. They were both deeply in love, and all approved and welcomed their marriage, for before there had been a number of low marriages with lower class individuals, such as some of the men from the east nearer to your lands then these. Yet he was of noble birth and of noble lineage, and she of course glorious and beautiful. All rejoiced, for she was to marry but one month after your first encounter with her. Yet when she laid eyes upon you, she knew her life was under a doom. For you see, she was torn, she loved him and you beyond words, and would commit to anything other then to see pain in either of your eyes. She confided solely in her great mother, my wife”, Now the Governor paused, whipping away a tear upon mentioning his wife and sighed, “And her mother quickly supported her. She told me, not a spy of any sort though they reported as well, what had occurred. I put you under arrest that day because on that day two things occurred. The man who loved her and was to wed her found that she had delayed the wedding, and had felt crushed, for he thought she would deny him her hand. He brooded and came to me in wrath and fear of loosing the one woman he had loved all of his life, for his mother had died whilst he was at an early age.
“Also the great Priests and mages saw a doom over you, worse then death some said. I did not want my daughter whom I cherished, to feel the pain of loss, for she had fallen into despair, and was only gladdened by either your face or his. She spent much time weeping, and so her tower became known as the Tower of Grief. But when she heard what I had done she was furious and swore to leave the city rather then look upon me. Her mother swore to never sleep in the same land as myself if I continue this. So I made sure you would be released, one way or another. But you began what you could not know. The city was gashed, and her blood flowed openly through the streets as kin-strife erupted. Furious many swung their maces and blades, but that was after you left. When my daughter”, He paused anew, his hands shacking and gripped the chalice by his side, drinking the mead quickly and placing it back down.
“When she heard that her loves were in battle, she fled. Even as she ran from the gates she heard the cry of him, and her heart, tormented by the cruel shackles of love as it had been before, now tore at the seems at last. So indeed did she plunge into the wicked waves? You left, yet the rage rolled forth like an uncontrollable flood. Great buildings were ton down and fires leapt into the skies above, lighting the night. My wife was in misery, and finally came to me here. She spoke to me in bitter words, calling me a beast, a hound of the Dark Enemy of past, and her last words were but this ‘Fear and pain may accompany death, but it is desire which shepherds its certainty!’
“She slit her wrists that night, dying on the floor of one of the many hallways, yet this one led to the great marriage chamber. My sons heard this and they stormed before me. They vanquished all claims to be as my children, my heirs and cursed my life and my name. They departed in fury and never have I spoken to them, nor shall I as they have now passed into the seas. Yet even that pain was born ever greater, for my brother was slain before the Pillars of the East protecting them, for a great fore had come to sack and Pillage this great hall. Beside him fell his wife, who had been keen to sword, and my nephew? Great scrolls were lost for eternity, and priceless lives were sent to the fate of man. The songs of Lament filled this city for two years afterward, and even to this moment the ruins remain to the north of the horror. For a time mastery of our surroundings was lost, and we lay bare before the uncouth ones.
“Yet now with your arrival I fear that the horns are blowing, for they believe the war is nigh at hand anew. The forces that had been bested are now growing ever in number to the north, as you may hear if you listen intently. But if the fate of this city is to fall, it shall now. A Gondolin may not be kept my men, for they are not of mind or prowess to retain love between one another, so I have learned the bitter and dark path of the learned.” He ended his tale and slumped into his chair, devoid of all save the tears. He seemed now more then ever an old man worn and crushed by tragedy after tragedy, rebut after torment. Dengen, who had appeared to have been gazing into vistas of the forlorn past, spoke anew.
“Ciryaher, there are indeed heliomancers within this city of their own right. They are powerful, though none as powerful as you are, and in combination may hold the sun. The darkness that I battled myself both seemed to have immense concentration else wise. Yet still they proved great and powerful. Their goal undoubtedly is to bring the sun to her fall into these lands. The prowess of our unknown foes is great, and we must ever be weary and vigilant. To the east of here are the seas, yet there is a vessel, built in the past but here it lays in dock, which may carry us to the gates, Yet it shall be a dangerous journey. There is that course of action, or we may strive in thought against the foes to unbar the gates. This will be just as perilous, for if we are foiled with such stakes, the sun herself shall plummet and we shall all be made naught. What doth the council believe fit?”

*Elessar raised himself, a tear in his eye.
" I am sorry, I had no Idea. I wish to leave now, I must speak to some of the more influential people in the City.
* With that he left, Arathin close behind. Once outside the hall he turned to her and spoke.
"Dearest, I have aroused hate and anger in this city, and I go to defuse the bomb that will surely kill us all." He had a grim look in his eyes, and he looked into hers. There was little warmth there, in his eyes, they burned with a cold determination. "I am going to see an old man, he was old when I left, and I can only hope that he still lives. The man was like a father to me, and I would be glad for you to join me."

I am truly sorry for what has happened to you, but we must look forward. Dwelling in the past merely creates problems, it does not solve any. If we are to have any hope at winning this war we shall wage, we must name the battlefield and not be ruled by our own personal demons.
If we feel we have already lost, then we truly have been defeated. If we look to the future then we have a chance. We must keep hope and faith."

01-29-2002, 04:24 PM
Ciryaher had returned to his own thoughts, as he was wont, and paid little heed to what went on around him. He heard mention of heliomancers in the city and smiled. "Nay, they are but keepers of light. Photomancers, they might be called, but they do not hold the Flame of Anar in their hearts and minds. I am drawing on the strength of the other Heliomancers to supplant my own, so that I might hold a stronger sway over Her."
He looked up and drifted his glance to the exiting Elessar, then looked at certain members of the group. "Those whom also have kindled the light may feel taxed at times, even when they are at rest. For that I apologize, but I ask those people to remain secret and to do as best they can," he paused and closed his eyes, "We delay overlong. We are not on the correct path. I smell the blood of battle and death near to the path upon which we tread, and if we steer the wrong way (or perhaps remain on course) we shall see war. It shall hinder us, if we get involved. I--" he stopped and turned pale.
With a blood-curdling scream he put his hands on his ears. Blood began to trickle from his eyes, mouth, nose, and ears. There was a shudder in the ground, and the light outside turned red. Those who looked out to find the Sun saw her falling down...to the Eastern horizon! A blackness rose from the horizon to meet it.
Ciryaher staggered around dripping blood from his hands mumbling, "The Gate has been broken...." Thereupon he slumped into a chair and swooned.

01-29-2002, 05:37 PM
I found myself and Arathin walking trough the city streets. My head was clearing and my thoughts returned in full force. I had to find Kanda, my elderly friend from long ago. I was worried that Kanda might had died, as he was probably 70 years old when I had left the city, but, the man had some high blood in him, no doubt from another Numenorian decendent who had tried to reach the western shore. We found him in a small house in the middle class section of the city. He was a blind man, he had drunk some bad ale when he was young. He was tall, as tall as I. Kanda admited us to his house, and we sat in a small room in the front. I asked him about the events that had happened after I left the city, for he was one of the people who had commanded the people who fought against the city guard. Indeed, he had been a very rich man, but had lost the generations of wealth as payment for the rebellion. I told him he was doing good, which he was. He told me that the battle had soured after word came that I had fled, the men lost their fire, and fought only in despiration, in fear of the guard of the city. They lost the battle, in a matter of hours after the battle. It turned out that the governor had exaggerated on the casualties, they only numbered about four or five thousand. He told me that many of our friends, about six or seven hundred, in all, had fled northward, and had set up a small city. He told that the part of the city, mostly in the north, had been burned in the battle, and had yet to be rebuilt. He said that word of my arrival had spread like wildfire, and that the northern city was up in arms, preparing for battle. At this I was horrified, I had him send for ten or twenty of his servents, and then began to discuss to him things that had happened with the governor (this was said in false, to spread a rumor and keep war from happening) I told him that the governor and I had made a peace, and that I had befriended him. By the time Kanda and I had finished speaking, and Arathin and I went out into the streets, I could feel the tension in the air lessen, I saw a few of the city guards smile at us, instead of frowning. Then a great shaking fell upon the city, and I looked to the east, and saw the sun sink below the earth. The city was falling apart left and right, the middle class buildings were old, very old, and couldn't stand up to such torchure. Huge chunks of cement and plaster fell from the sky. Arathin dove behind a cart that was proped up against a huge metal lightpost. I was right behind her, but not as fast. A huge chunk of cement fell upon my right hip, and I cried out in pain. I could only mutter a few words before I passed out. "...the gates...failed....find....ciryahaer......hurry.... ."with that I blacked out, and fell into a void of pain.

After Elessar blacked out, I wrapped up his hip as best as I could in the most haste. I lay him under the cart in safty, but I could not trust the cart would hold out. Some powers of protection I have from my half-brother Glorfindel's side. With what powers and haste I could I placed a protective shell around Elessar and I left him the ring to let him know that I would return. Nothing other than myself could enter that shell.
With all the speed I could I ran back to the palace, but I was now unprotected. I didn't have the strength to hold up two shields. So I was forced to be more cautious and weary of chucks of cement. Soon though I had reached the palace. I busted through the doors. "Ciryaher." I yelled. I found him too easily. "Everyone come with me. We need to get back to Elessar and get out of the city."

*Sets her jaw, and grim of countenance strides up to Ciryaher and begins to pull him up from the ground.*
"Help me get him out of the city! NO! Leave his wounds for now, it will do no good to try to bind them up yet!!"
*Drags Ciryaher to the outskirts of the city, and hands Kementari a small vial*
"Pour the contents of this vial over him and cover him with a blanket. Do not try to stop the bleeding- not yet anyway. Let it flow. I will be back as soon as I can."
*Dashes back into the city in search of Elessar and Arathin.*

I left the others as they ran out of the city. Soon I had found Elessar again. He was still unconcious. I put my ring back on, and started to tend his wound. I knew that the others were safe and so were we. Suddenly I heard a yell. I looked up there was Nimawae. She had hit the barrior shell. I reached out my hand to her. Right as she passed through the shell, a huge piece of plaster fell right where she had been standing. "No time to explain now." I said as she began to question me on the shield. "Help me lift him." Slowly and laboriously the two of us carried Elessar's limp form out of the city. Bits of debre were falling all around and above us, but none got through the shield. Finally we made it to the gate. The others were nearby. As soon as we go to them, we put Elessar down and I passed out as the shield failed.

As chaos and terror gripped the city, waves of nearly tangible blackness rippled across the sky into the west. The ground rocked, and the groan of the Earth could be heard, as if something terrible had again set foot upon it. The sound of ungodly horns pounded the ears of all living things, and it's lowness was both awesome and terrible.
Ciryaher staggered to his feet and looked to the east, a glint in his eye like some rabid beast, blood trickling down his head and neck. "We are too late. The gates have been broken," he cried, and then wept.
Those around him could not understand, yet their hearts were covered by a shadow; especially those of the Eldar race. Throughout the world, though, evil things crept forth from their hiding places, as if by some call from the Unknown. They saw the darkness and quailed, but a strength came from those black masses; and commands.
Mithrandir
01-29-2002, 09:45 PM
Mithrandir stood in the midt of all the chaos, he was shining a bright light holding his sword in the air, he seemed to be chanting spells, trying his best to fight the unknown, yet to be seen power that was overtaking the city, he can not hold on for long, this enemy is great, I need help, what are we to do now?????
In the midst of his invisible battel, Mithrandir telepathicly talks to Ciryaher,"What are we to do my friend, is there any hope left, this power is awesome, I think he may be more powerful than me, I can not hold long, tell me what are we to do, I know you are still there."..............
Ciryaher
01-29-2002, 09:50 PM
Ciryaher stopped his sobbing and wiped away his despair. "Do you not see? By all the signs He indeed hath returned! The One whom was cast into the Void! Who else could possibly break the Gates?!"
He stood and checked his armor, not bothering to wipe away the blood, which had stopped flowing for the most part.
Dengen-Goroth
01-29-2002, 10:04 PM
Dengen stood mute at this tiding. His eyes clouded and he gave a piercing laugh.
“The end of all ages is nigh at hand! Prepare for it, prepare for the tides of wrath foreseen not even by Mandos in his halls. Prepare, Prepare for the end of all Days!”
Dengen moved quickly from the council and disappeared into the chaos of the night. The Governor trembled.
“What uncouth wrath is upon me! Why must this befall in my last days” He trembled and stammered. The company drew together, even as the stars were ripped from the heavens and seemed to plummet into the earth below, as a deep blast of a horrible horn was heard through all the lands, and a cry ensued. Their hearts seemed to stop, their blood frozen in horror. The dead had arisen, the Lords of the West trembled, and the Seas were unfathomable, roaring in angst and pain even as He rose from the darkness. He trembled and fell as did the Sun. Mithrandir cried out.
“The Moon hath fallen! What woe is upon our necks!”
Ciryaher
01-29-2002, 10:15 PM
A man came white with terror to the great hall. "The D--D--Dea--Dead.....They are r--r--rising!" he fearfully said.
Ciryaher stood. "If this is indeed The End, then I must return to Arnor and prepare her defenses," he said with apprehension on his voice, gripping the hand of Kementari in his shaking hand, "Will the Host of the West come to save us or shall we be singly eliminated?"
Nimawae's hope
01-29-2002, 11:05 PM
"Indeed, I shall follow you to whatever doom may befall me, for it is too late for any to hope to save themselves, even if they had the mind. Yes, Ciryaher, you shall have at least one companion! Is is possible though that the rising dead may help us on the path before us. For they have died once and can not suffer that fate twice. Perhaps they will be of no terror to Him, but it may be that the dead would scatter his mortal enemies. Lead me where you will, Ciryaher!"
Aerin
01-30-2002, 12:15 AM
"Alas what dark days are upon us! If he has risen, have we any hope of overcoming him?"
*Aerin bows her head, tears forming in her eyes. Suddenly she looks up with great determination.*
"Ciryaher, my sword and my service are yours. Send me where you will, I will fight unto the death."
Arathin
01-30-2002, 12:24 AM
As everyone had been talking, Arathin had slowly woken. She had Elessar in her arms. He seemed dead other than ocasional groans and sharp breath intakes. "The Dead have risen!?! Are they the same dead that Aragorn led?" "Of course they are." muttered Ciryaher. "Well then what are you worried about?" Arathin carefully layed Elessar down on the ground, and slowly rose to her feet. All stood in awe of her form. She glowed with a burning, pure, High Elven light. The very Darkness seemed to quail at her odvious wrath. "Dead of the West." she called aloud. "You did serve your debt to my brother, Aragorn Elessar of the Third and Fourth Ages, King of Gondor by right and lineage. Now I, Arathin of the Third and Fourth Ages, Sister of Aragorn, do call upon you in our time of need. Once you did refuse the call of Isildor, and your debt was repayed when you helped Aragorn Elessar. Now all will parish, even you, if you do not aid us in this time of darkness." Suddenly a mist seemed to rise around her. Her dress floated and fluttered in a mean, howling wind. She rose off the ground, and the mist took the forms of thousands of the Dead. The hearts of all who beheld this sight froze in terror and dread. Arathin spoke words to the Dead that none present knew or could know for they were of the secret language of only she, Aragorn, and Glorfindel; her two half-brothers. Slowly she was lowered to the ground again. She continued to glow. She held Elessar in her arms and stroked the sweat soaked hair out of his face. Slowly the light about her faded, but as it did the wounds of the whole group were healed and some strength returned to them. "The Dead will serve our cause as long as I am alive to guide them. Now who has come, Cirayher? Quickly if you don't mind."

ooc: Dengen, I told you Ciryaher was crazy, I told you he would pull this exact stunt! and that was all the way back in rivendell!
Elessar awoke to eternal darkness. He looked around, extremely confused. "Wha....? where am I?" He looked around. "Could one of you kind strangers please point me in the direction of the great Anduin, I am afraid I dont recognize this place." A moronic smile touvhed his lips, followed by a puzzled frown. "Where did the sun go?"

OOC: I made it so it didn't HAVE to be Melko. If anyone objects to what I write, just tell me so.
"If indeed this is the Great End, then these are not merely the Dead of the West, but the Dead of All Time! The souls of men have returned from their places of waiting, the orcs have risen, and all other dead things-- good or evil--have returned. I pray to the Valar that this is but some great doing of the Lost Wizards, who now unleasheth their long built armies."

Can you not remember anything Elessar? Not even me?
*Arathin bend over him in some distres. Looking back at Ciryaher.
I cannot tell what dead they are. They will not speak to me other than to tell me that they will fight with us. That means that they are in spirual battle with the evil that assails us.

OOC: ok who are we fighting? Can we get that straight?
We cannot turn back. If we cannot defeat this here together, then how can we expect to defeat it seprated, each in their own homeland? Did Aragorn and the others stay in their homelands and wait for doom to come? No, they stood and fought it off at it's source. I say we do as they did and stop this evil here and now!
Mithrandir
01-30-2002, 08:21 PM
Mithrandir puts his hands down and his light fades, he telepathicly talks to all the members of the council,"It is not him, Melokor has not returned, I have gone into the enemies mind. None of you probably know them, but they have come back....
A long time ago the first wizards to come to Middle Earth arrived. You will remember Sauruman, and Gandalf, perhaps even Radagast the Brown, but what most do not know, except for the wise, is there were two more. Said to be twins they took the color of blue. It was their job to go into the East, where you are now. When I, being a Mair came into Middle Earth for this age, they had not returned w/ the others(Gandalf). It was rumored that these two noble warriors, had fallen, not in life but to evil. This was sorrowful news to hear, and I did not believe it at first, instead I chose to believe that these two had fallen in battle, against a great foe. For I knew them in my youth, I looked up to them as I did all the Mair, and I refused to believe that they would fall. But now I have seen them, they have grown terrible, in strength and evil, they are great powers my friends, and this is the army which they have been building up for years. Their plan is coming to be, there is no hope for them. Forever will they stay evil, we have but only one hope, they must be destroyed, it is a fate they have brought upon themselves. Men may be of help in this, but in the end only a Mair has the strength to eliminate such a foe. That is all I will say for I am depressed of thr reality which I denied for so long. Yea, it may even be I who is forced to kill the very ones I loved so dearly as brothers......."

ooc: good show, Mith. It shall work fine. BTW, I had vile magic put on me by a small, robed man while Arathin was away, he had magic that surpassed that of her shield.
The beleagured form of Elessar looked up at the menacing form of Mithrandir. A light came to his eyes, 'twas not the light they were used to seeing in Elessar, but a new light, full of courage and hope, but lacking that grey wisdom that had dominated them before.
"Can I help you, great lords of the west? My name is Elessar, I am a Dunadan of the northern Anduin. Really, I can be of some help. I have some skills with a sword and tend to think on my feet."
Bows deeply before Mithrandir. He stands and looks into the eyes of Arathin, but no recognization regesters in his eyes.
Mithrandir
01-30-2002, 08:54 PM
Mithrandir turns around and looks deeply into Elessar eyes,"He has had a mighty spell put on him, it has erased his memory. I think I can get rid of it if I have time, the man was not as powerful as I. Look into my eyes Elessar, you know me, we are friends, look, and concentrate........"
Aerin
01-30-2002, 10:32 PM
"So the twins have returned? Alas the day they awoke.... What can we do to stop their terrible power?"
*Aerin watches Elessar as he looks into Mither's eyes, then Elessar gives a jerk and looks around, finally recognizing his companions.*
"Mithrandir, I know it will be painful, but if the twins should continue in their dastardly campaign, then all is lost. We must hasten to destroy them before they destroy us."
