RP 32: Quest for the Mirror!

[HLGStrider]

Elgee i Nanar sat stroking her large cats, who were purring with appriciation. She had taken an extended lunch break in the midst of her travels so that she could await the rest of her promised fellowship. As soon as they arrived they would go to Rivendale, then have council, decide how to get to Lothlorien.
Elgee had always wanted to look into the Mirror of Galadriel. She had fantasized for years about what might be seen in it. She was just about to saddle up the larger of the two cats when she heard...

[Aroghel]

She heard something moving in the brush nearby. . . it sounded big. She wasnt sure if it was good or evil, but she didn't care - she put the saddles on the ground and went over to the shaking brush. She put her hand through it and something grabbed her! It turned out to be. . .

[arisen pheonix]

the engimatic wanderer engma grabbed the hand that had distubed her hiding placce the purrs of the cats had almost put her to sleep

Goldberry arrives. she sees all the cats..."am i in the right place?? am i the last one? who else is here?"

[HLGStrider]

Don't worry. You haven't miss much, Goldberry," Elgee frowns trying to free her hand. "Let go mysterious wanderer person... Is anyone else hiding around here who I should know about???"

[Glory]

*suddenly Glory jumps out from the shadows and scares Elgee and the others* BUUUUU!!! *she laughts* sorry I couldn't resist to make a little prank *she says smilling*

[Valar]

*Valar rides up on his horse Menelus*
"Hello everyone are we ready?"
*Valar dismounts and gets out his knife and polishes it*

[Glory]

hello valar *she does a little bow at valar then looks at the face of Elgee who has got mad because Glory scared one of her cats* sorry *looks to Valar* we still need to wait for the others.

[Valar]

"Very well, make sure you are all prepared"
*Goes and sits in the corner and gets out his pipe and sits contemplating*

[HLGStrider]

"One of our group has informed me that she will not be able to join us for awhile, perhaps after Rivendale," Elgee said, trying to sooth her pets. "Do we have any volonteers to make a signal fire and try to get the others near? I don't think Valar's pipe is putting off enough smoke..."

[Goldberry344]

who is the one who is gonna be tardy?? ;) Ill make a fire, that is if you trust me with it....hehe.
*goes off into the woods to find dry wood. is very unsuccessful because it rained last night.*

[HLGStrider]

Elgee sighs at this. She then takes a stack of kindling out of her back pack and starts a fire, brewing herself some tea.
"Perhaps we should get going. The others can find us on the way," she comments lazily.

[arisen pheonix]

a rather dishelved wanderer steps out of the bushes "sorry havent slept in days you startled me"she says dusting herself off

[Glory]

I think you are right Elgee we must be going *she smiles as soon she sees the way that the Elgee's cats looks at her* they still don't trust me I can't blame them I really scared them.

[Lorien]

Suddenly there's a dark shadow in the sky and out drops Lorien with his winged beast.. "Hello everyone, all present?"

[HLGStrider]

"No, some people are still on their way. But we are starting anyway... Westward eastward and northward ho..."

[Goldberry344]

hehe, we're ditching them, they gotta find us *Goldberry skips along with the others (they walk!)*

[Aroghel]

*everyone hears something behind them running - it turns out to be Aroghel

*panting "Humph. . sorry im late. I had a little trouble with some friends. . ."

*starts walking with the rest of the group

[Glory]

*looks at all* well seem like Arathin and Elenya are the only ones who didn't show up they'll reach us later I guess.

[HLGStrider]

"Glad you could make it Aroghel," Elgee smiled broadly. "Now we must journey..." Elgee leapt upon the larger of her two cats and they started off, traveling through the trees.
Everything seemed to be going just fine...

[Aroghel]

Up until something went zooming through Aroghel's hair.

"What was that?? Could it have been an arrow?"

* Swoosh!! Another arrow slices through the air

"Whats going on??"

[HLGStrider]

"Everybody take cover!" Elgee cried, jumping behind a large pile of buck brush...

ooc: do they have buck brush in Middle Earth? Perhaps I should say heather...

Arrows wizzed about as the little band scurried into action, arming themselves with arrows, sticks, and Elgee's frying pan...

[Aroghel]

Out of the dark tall trees came about 20 ugly Orclings, all with bows and arrows. They were very small, but seemed vicious and cruel. Elgee and the rest of the party were brave enough to fight against these little annoying things. They jumped from behind the buck bushes and started charging at the Orclings.

"Charge at any risk! Don't look back - don't stop running!" bellowed Elgee as she violently thrashed at the Orclings with her frying pan. Right away she killed about 2 of them, but there were still 18 left.

[arisen pheonix]

engma takes out her cross bow and begins fireing at the orcs after reloding a few times she gets sick of it and puts it away bring out her broad sword and her short sword she goes after the orc and gets hit in the arm with an arrow but it only makes things worse for the orcs like aggravating a bee's nest

[Arathin]

They hear a sudden, fierce battle cry. Out of the woods charges Gildar and Arathin at full gallop. She charges into the Orcling and beheads the few remaining. When they are all dead, she addresses the company. "Sorry I am late. We're having some problems about Himling, and I couldn't come earlier."

[Lorien]

Lorien who didn't do anything except kill 1 orcling that tries to bite him says, "Can we go now?", "These orclings really make me itchy for getting started."

[Aroghel]

"Yes we must leave at once! There are bound to be more Orclings and even worse. . . full grown Orcs. Elgee are your cats ok? Let us make haste!"

[arisen pheonix]

"swiftly we must leave there is more that will come if we dont i can feel it" engma said wiping off her swords

[Glory]

*she is fighting against the orcs* I am agree but what's the plan how do we go? they keep coming *she points with her finger and everyone sees a groups of orcs runing to them*

[Arathin]

Then let us leave this place. We must move on to Rivendell.

"lorien you and i could distract them for a while then escape on your winged creature" suggested engma

[Lorien]

Lorien gets very annoyed seeing all the orcs and raises a whole platoon of reapers and sets them loose on the orcs. "That'll take care of them for a while, we must leave now everyone!"

engma turns and goes with the rest of the company

[Lorien]

ooc:- hey i'm having fun engma....

Lorien mounts his beast and calls,"anyone need a lift?"

[Aroghel]

"Sure I wouldn't mind one. This is going to be fun!"

[Lorien]

"Hop on!, anyone else i think i got place for one more person."

[arisen pheonix]

"ME you spoiled my fun so now i get to come along" says engma with a grin

[Aroghel]

They trotted off on the giant beast, while the rest walked quickly behind them.

"So where is our next stop, Elgee?" said Aroghel, acting as if he were 137 again. (OOC: lol)

[Valar]

OOC: If there is a fight can we not use huge amounts of magic power and make them last alot longer, its more fun that way.

*Valar having very little part in the battle rides on behind on Menelus*
"We are all weary now let us carry on for a bit to safty and then make camp for the night. I will take first watch"

[Aroghel]

"Very well, I am starting to get weary also."

*Trees swade back and forth mysteriously, as if they are wispering and watching every step you take

[HLGStrider]

"Yes, camp sounds good..." Elgee sighed. "We were going to have council at Rivendell, perhaps waiting for Elenya, but as things are I suggest we start right on our way. We will look over a map at camp tonight. Should we go southward or through the misty mountains and then Mirkwood... I really hate spiders..."

[Aroghel]

*the party walks for what seems like hours, until they find a nice empty spot by a creek

"This looks like a good place to stop and setup camp. Elgee, do you have the shelter supplies?"

*Elgee nods, showing a big pack to Aroghel

"Ok good. Let me help you with that."

*they setup the tents and a fire, and everyone gets into their beds (old rags and pillows). Elgee and Glory sing old folk songs, while the rest of the group tries to get to sleep

'A fine watchman you make, Valar! I traveled long only to learn from the eagles that you had left without me! We should all sleep. There is still much of the journey ahead.' *Walks lazily to Elgee's cats to sleep by them*

[Goldberry344]

Goldberry sets up her little place by the fire....has a large fear of orcs. shoots at them from far distances when she can. :) gets ready to *ZzZzZzZzZz* and starts petting one of Elgee's cats.

[Arathin]

All of you get some sleep now. No Orc nor other creature will cross my watch without me knowing of it.

*sits by the fire with her eyes closed, letting her sences flow out to pick up when any creatures not in the camp are*

[Aroghel]

They slept for at least 7 hours, which was not that much.

"..et..p..ge..up..GET UP, Aroghel!" shouted Elgee, for Aroghel had been sleeping the longest and didn't wake up when Elgee told him to.

"Wha..what? Oh sorry. Are we ready to move on already? It seems too early! What is the time?"

"Its 7 hours and 32 minutes in the morning. We need to make haste, for Orcs are soon to be coming," said Elgee.

*Aroghel gets up, looking very groggy. The air smells like roast mutton, and that is Aroghels least favorite food.

*Sits up suddenly* ORCS?? okok, im up. lets move. id rather face 12 trolls than orcs. hate orcs. so ugly. lets leave

[Arathin]

Arathin come over and drags Aroghel to his feet. "That smell is the Orcs' breakfast. Now come on! All of you! We must reach Rivendell soon, and it is a lond ways off."

[Goldberry344]

*Picks up a cat and gets ready to leave* "We're going to see the elves, Ms. Arathin" (in a phony Samwise accent)

PS: time for real sleep. later everyone

[Lorien]

Lorien who was in the sky on his beast warns everyone, "Large orc camp advance very quitely."

[Glory]

*she is still sleepy but she knows that it wont be easy to face those orcs so she is hurring up she doesn't like them either*

[Arathin]

I can sence them, but not tell how many there are. Come on everyone. We are leaving this camp now. *She mounts Gildar, and making sure everyone is ahead of her, leaves the camp. Just as she leaves several Orcs sneak into it quietly.*

[Lorien]

The orcs were about to attack Arathin but Lorien from above swiftly flew down and without getting off beheaded them. "Watch your back Arathin! There are atleast 300 orcs upahead."

[arisen pheonix]

"lovely" engma says to no one inoarticular "battle is a perfect substitute for coffee" she counts weapons and secures her ever-ready pack "damn i should have practiced instead of sleeping im gonna be so uncorrodinated if we get in a fight" **wich is really not true im just one of those people who are never up to their own standards**

[Valar]

*Valar rides on next to Arathin*
"So how are you my friend, it has been a while since we have spoken"

[HLGStrider]

Elgee swings her frying pan at one orc while her cats seriously maul another...
"BACK FELL BEAST,
OF EVIL'S TOOLS THE LEAST!
YOU SHALL NOT HAVE ME
TO EAT AT YOUR FEAST!!!"

[HLGStrider]

"Elgee stop talking in rhyme or you will drive us all crazy!!!" several of her fellow fighters yelled. Elgee sighed, jumped on her cat, and hurried after Arathin.
"Hurry, everyone! We must reach high ground before more come!!! To defensive positions!!!"

[Goldberry344]

Goldberry runs away following Elgee. She has got to get herself a mount of some sort.

[elenya]

Elenya brings up the rear as they head for higher ground, slicing several orcs as she goes. 'This high ground had better be near or none of us will live to see it.'

[Aroghel]

"Over there! I see a fort of somekind. Lets try to avoid it - there may be some Orcs hiding there," Aroghel screamed as he was running as fast as he could.

"We need to get across a river, its name i forget, but it is not very far. . . maybe about a quarter of a mile."

*keeps running, until he gets a side-ache

"I can't run that much longer. . . Im getting tired out. . ."

*starts to slowdown, the Orcs grow ever so nearer

"We're almost ther-"

"Watch out Aroghel!"

*an Orc jumps up almost on top of Aroghel. He attacks - but luckily Lorien was watching over top. SLICE!! a shot of magic goes through the Orc

"Thank you Lorien!" shouted Aroghel

"No problem. We're just about there."

They came up to a rather large river, its depth up to their stomaches.

"Hurry lets get across!"

*the group charges through the river, slowly

"Good! We're through! But why are the Orcs stopping? They shouldn't be afraid of water. Oh well," said Aroghel contently

[elenya]

While the rest had chosen to pass through the water Elenya has climbed the trees who's branches span the river. She looks down towards her companions.

'There's something in the water!' Elenya screams, 'We must get out! Here, grab the branche.'

[Lorien]

Lorien starts laughing like a lunatic when he sees what it was in the water that elenya saw, while the rest of the company get to safety he goes into the water and as the great beast comes out to attack he stills it suddenly and closes his eyes and starts muttering dark words. Shadows begin to fly about him and he is wreathed in smoke. Then after a while he steps out of the shadows and smiles at the fearsome beast. "I have taken its soul, it will stop any orc that attempts to pass through this path. Quickly get to the fort!"

[Glory]

well done Lorien *smiles at Lorien* well many people would say that a necromancer it is not a good creature but if I hear someone saying that again that person will meet Erandoil.

[HLGStrider]

"Is Earandiel your boyfriend?" asks the ever clueless Elgee. "Okay, everyone, the beastie thingie will hold them back for awhile! Move out! Does anyone know a place of refuge around here? Or we could build a fort real quick... trench warfare? Whatever... You can hop on Rabbit, Goldberry... He's the silver tabby with the curly tail..."

[Goldberry344]

Thank you, Elgee *Jumps on Rabbit* I think we should probably make a fort. but we should walk on for a while, so we can get a head start on the orcs. they might get by that beastie.

[Lorien]

"Lets go quickly whatever the case might be."

[arisen pheonix]

"ahcccc orcs are easily defeted. dig a hole. put a stick with a dirty sock on the end in the middle, i dont care. but i will NOT run from some measly maggot folk whatever the case may be. hurry up with it." taking her sword out and lovingly polishing the rune covered handle on her way

[Lorien]

"We are running away from measly maggot folk so that we don't waste time in fighting measly opponents. Besides that dumb beast will take care of them for us."

[arisen pheonix]

"all right.....all right. ill run but it goes against my nature, to run from an opponent" she continued to polish her sword none the less

[Goldberry344]

Its not so much that we're running, its that we are saving our battle strength for a more serious fix. Why waste it on Orcs when there could be something worse ahead?

[elenya]

*Elenya looks puzzeled* Hey aren't we running from orcs? As is thoes orcs that are halfway through the river?

[HLGStrider]

"Elgee doesn't want to dent her pan again!!!" Elgee said. "We will save it for a fight that deserves fought...."

The little troup disappeared into the night and camped in relative safety. The next morning they called council...

"After much consideration, I have decided that I am lost..." Elgee begins.

[Arathin]

Yes Valar I am fine. Thank you for the help both times Lorien. Necromancers are excellent company in my book! None of you should underestimate Orcs. They may be dumb, but their numbers are huge and they are persistent as mosquitos. Only more deadly.

[Lorien]

"Oh, Elgee!! Damnit i'll fly up and see if we can get some bearings if you want."

oh dear, if you guys are lost i am lost. deary deary deary me. shall we look at a trusty map??

[Glory]

I didn't bring my map!!! *looks at Elgee* well you are the guidance what do we do? *then seem like she got an idea and looks at the others * does anybody knows were is the nort so far? or at least to reconoize where we are looking at the stars like sailors do?

[HLGStrider]

"All right... I've been thinking... Someone suggested we go to Lorien down through Mirk Wood... I like the idea, but I have never been in Mirk Wood. When I went to Lorien it was up through the gap of Rohan, then around Fangorn... I've never tried to get there from this section of Middle Earth. Do we have anyone who can successfully guide us through Mirk Wood, or should we take Moria and throw ourselves at the dwarves' famous hospitality..."

ooc: I think a lot more interesting things could happen in Mirkwood... especially involving Elgee's terrible fear of spiders...

We cant go through Moria anymore. Gandalf ruined the bridge.

[Arathin]

First off, Goldberry. The Dwarves moved back in, and fixed the bridge. Second, I have been through Mirkwood many times. I have a map of it, and can guide us through it, for the most part, safely. At least it will be the safest anyone could ever get through Mirkwood, which isn't all that safe, but what can I say?

ooc: that's dessapointing I was expecting to see Elgee reaction to spider by the way Elgee is sucha funny character I wish mine could be that funny.

I say we go through Mirkwood! The caves give me an uneasy feeling. Like Gandalf has said before, the dwarves delved too deep and awaoke much more evil things than spiders. At least through the forest I can speak to the animals.I can find us shelter if need be.

[Lorien]

I vote for Mirkwood....

Elgee as the great and fearless leader says Mirkwood, and she will make it as exciting as possible...

ooc: In real life my reaction to spiders is a lot of screaming and shivering followed by smashing.

OOc: I don't kill the spiders in my aunt house there are a lot of them and they are of the big of you hand if you kill them they sound funny, I usually ignore them I am not such afraid of them since a while ago.

I sighed up for this possition without any all too high expectations on pay or anything of the such. Thank you for the warning though. Elgee with the title of professional guide does that mean I get special story board writting capablities? Like deciding on a few places that we go in Mirkwood without consulting everyone?

You can lead us around Mirkwood as the guide,but all very big decisions, like who we eat first when we run out of food and turn to canibalism, are mine!

Yay! Mirkwood. Oh joy! Hey, i can't be eaten though....i'm too cute to die!! no wait i'm too EVIL to die first....

We can eat eachother latter. Ok Arathain, lead on. We should find a camp for the night though. Or food. Either way...

"Yes, but I still will decide who gets devoured... How long will the trip through Mirkwood take? Should we send an emisary to Dul Gulder?"

OOC:Thank you Lorien. I will pm Adeilya myself, Elgee. Don't worry about that.

Well it takes me far less than a month to cross Mirkwood alone. Together I would say about... three weeks. First of all, which side of Mirkwood are we on? I have to know where I am and what I have to work with.

"there are many things we may eat before we need to eat one another.besides starvation often drains ones sanity and that who you would eat would rebel and turn against you." engma said as she took out a throwing knife and tied a leather string to the end drew a tiny dot on a tree moved tweenty paces away and threw the knife hiting the dot each time as she continued to throw it

[Arathin]

Grabs the knife out of the air as Engma throws it. "No one is that good. NO ONE! So please stop." Gives her the knife back, and wraps up her hand where it got cut. "Elgee I simply would like to know where exactly we are. What we are near. Etc."

[Lorien]

ooc:- we don't need permission to enter dol guldur people....i'm a necromancer remember, so i'm on good terms with Adeilya who is incidentally another necromancer so all's well.....besides she's not like Naz and me she probably won't mind us coming in without notice.

[Glory]

*walks away from them and then gets back* "well what are we going to do? are we going to camp here? or we'll leave? "

OOC:if legolas con hit a dime 2 football feilds away i can hit a dot 20feet away all the rest of you have powers my only powers are my strength and reflexs that i had to work on all my life

tugs on leather cord pulling her knife from arithins hands takes the cord off grabs it around the blade tightly and yanks out and mutters so arithin can hear her "enemys forever" as she wipes her knife off on her tunic "oh and dont start eating eachother you can eat orc-flesh first. i had i rather unpleasent childhood and their were times when orc flrsh looked like a feast" walks off stoping several feet from camp and dissappears up a tree

[Aroghel]

"Since we are traveling through Mirkwood, I can lead us to some Wood-elves that I know of. They might not be the nicest Elves, but if I talk i can get them to let us stay there to rest for a while - but itt will take a few weeks to get there. Only if we're in the dark, I can Light up my faithful sword, Tincohyanda, with Light magic, and we will be able to see where we are going."

* Aroghel smiles at the party

"I would be glad to see my elven folk again!"

OOC: sorry i haven't had enough time to be in any rpg's. too much homework! :(

Oh!
"We are now a couple dozen legues to the east of Rivendell. On the west side of the misty mountains, and quite a ways from Mirkwood."

[elenya]

Are we still even stopping at Rivendell? And if we don't start moving soon I'll likely go mad.*Inconspicuously starts sharpening her daggers.*

I think we'll skip Rivendell... Move out.

[Aroghel]

"Ok we had better start moving."

*they start moving :D :cool:

They all move in the general direction of the misty mountains. Elgee sees them on the horizen and starts to yodel. She is immediately attacked by her own cats and has to shut up....

They reach the mountains as quickly as possible and with very little trouble. Up into the them they climb. The pass is full of snow. Even the slightest noise could cause a terrible avalanch...

*Shiverring, mutters "this better be worth it...i hate the cold..."*

[HLGStrider]

"Shhh... You'll bring the whole mountain down on our heads.."

[Goldberry344]

"im not being loud..."

[HLGStrider]

"You are too!!!" Elgee cries in frustration... The group hears a low rumble above their heads... whoops...

[Goldberry344]

UhOh, now we've done it......

[Arathin]

Arathin bounds over the snow a ways. She is light as an Elf, and leaves a most indistinguishable impression upon the snow. With a outheld hand, she snows again settle into unstable peace. She returns to the group and whispers so that all can hear. "A) I spoke to Adeilya. B) There are no Wood Elves left in Mirkwood. C)Thank you for telling me where we are. D) We must be absolutely quiet. So you all can shut up!

[elenya]

*whispers* 'We must move on before the whole mountain comes down on us. The snow seems to thin out soon.'

Elenya starts making her way over the snow. 'But in the meantime....' She grabs some snow off the ground to throw it at the nearst living thing. In this case, Elgee. 'Sorry. It's the high altitude crazyness. I swear!'

[HLGStrider]

Elgee throws one back!!! "There, I got that fly that was on your nose, Goldberry!!!..." splat "And on your back" splat "And stomach" splat "and neck..." Elgee's cats drag her away.

[Goldberry344]

will not scream, will not kill people by causing an avalanche....WILL chuck snowball at Elgee's face.......

[Arathin]

Arathin sits down in the snow, and buries her face in her hands. She cannot stop giggling softly. "Stop it. You'll bring the mountain down on us." She hisses at them all. She ties up Elgee, and, with Lorien and Valar's help, dragges her on toward the top of the mountain so that they can get on with there journey.

[HLGStrider]

"Hey, I'm the leader!!!" Elgee pouts. Actually, Elgee is enslaved to her cats, but they humor her...

ooc: I'm thinking about giving Elgee the power to turn into a cat herself from time to time. Too ridiculous?

[Lorien]

Lorien wonders why they are crossing over the mountain like fools when they could just fly over it so he hops on his winged beast and asks, "Any two people up for a ride?"

[Arathin]

Oh please take me, Lorien *Arathin hops on behind him.* I was wondering the same thing, myself.

[elenya]

Well if -someone- ever mentioned that we could have flown over I'd have agreed! why walk when you can fly??

[Lorien]

Starts singing, "I wanna fly away,,,,,yeah yeah yeah...." Takes off and says i'll be back soon for you guys.

[Goldberry344]

oh great, so now im stranded while other people fly....oh well....so do we wait or keep walking???

[elenya]

Why don't we walk on while we wait for Lorien to return. And if he's not fast...we can have winged beast...wings. I -think- they'd be tasty.

Buffalo wings? yummy. cant wait. but be berry berry quiet. we're hunting wabits." (acctually we just dont want to die)

[HLGStrider]

"I suppose you are just going to leave me here, tied up in the snow!" Elgee weeps. The cats take action, untie her, and they ride off.

well then..... *Rabbit jumps foreward to follow Elgee* I guess i'm following her....

It wasn't long before the group emerged from the snow on the right side of the mountain. Arathin and Lorien were cicling over head. Elgee smiled broadly... Welcome to the other side of the mountains. Arathin lead us to the destination...

YAY we beat the flying maniacs.....or did we??

[elenya]

Not really sure. But I hate losing so yes. Yes..we beat them...

SCORE!!!!! and now that were off that horrible mountain can I finally talk?? and where do we go now??

17 year old Elgee, is glad, if surprised, that someone at least thinks they are younger than her. The group moves swiftly on. Soon approaching the shadow of Mirkwood.

OOC: Elgee, I am younger than you. I'm 16!

Ok now that we are insight of Mirkwood, we must use caution. Everyone fill any water skin you can. It is a good thing that all this scavanger bushes are around here. Gather as much food as you can, everyone. Elgee give Glory a cat to ride. Everyone needs some form of mount. That way we can move on faster. I would say that if everyone has a mount that is proper for the forest, it will take us about three weeks to reach the part that we are going through. Now if I'm not on for a day, do not advance too far. We are not following the Old Forest Trail that Bilbo and the dwarves followed. ok? Everyone follow me and I'll try to get you out of the forest alive. Don't follow me, and I hope those nasty spiders get you. Please no sword lighting. That attracts things that you really don't want to attract. Just follow me exactly, and you should be safe. Look forward to the hospitality of Adeilya at the edge of the forest. Come on. *They plung into the forest at the begining of the Old Forest Road, which they will take for five days time.*

Okay... I guess Glory can have the new addition to the cat family, Matt, Matt is the black one with the green eyes. He's very intelligent. Cats can climb trees!!! They are the perfect forest mounts. Lead on, younger than me Arathin.

Hey we are away from the mountains everyone! Elgee my character is the oldest here. I'm King Aragorn's half sister. My other brother is Glorfindel, but he went to the Grey Country. *sigh* I miss my brothers.

Well ok everyone. Lets move out. *The company passes under the dark threshold of Mirkwood.* Everyone stay on the Old Forest Road until I tell you otherwise. We'll be on this road for about a week. Ok? Then we'll head toward Dol Guldar(sp?). There Adeilya will give us a good, but brief welcome before we head out to Lothlorien.

A week is when Arathin says it is a week while she is in charge.
Making sure their provisions are well stocked, they enter the forest.

Thank you Elgee, and well said. A week is up when I say a week is up. So there. Until I say a week is up, you guys can have a bit of free rein with what happens and what we do. Just don't leave the path until I tell you.

Can think of anything to happen in this week. Have a bit of fun. Just nothing too major, and no supples shortages!!!

Lorien flies overhead muttering about how he just orders pizza whn he's in the wild.

So Lorien where do you order pizza from out here. I didn't know that their was a pizza joint in Middle Earth. What kinda phone do you have? I didn't know that their were phones in Middle Earth either.

Lorien obviously has a 'special' pizzza place that he can call with his 'special' phone because he's a "special" person.

By special, of course I mean crazy! j/k:D

"Special means crazy???" Elgee asked in shock... All this time she thought she was being complimented... "I serve Pizza at my singles bar... Is that your place, Lorien? Now, nobody provoke the spiders... I guess the cats must grow big just because I let them do whatever they want and eat whatever they want...."

[Arathin]

Yeah Lorien is very special. Hehehe.

They travel on the path for a long time. No one can tell if it is night or day outside, though. Finally, Arathin lets them rest for a short time, but gets them up quickly. She took no rest, but explored the forest ahead and to the sides while the others slept. "We must hurry on." Everyone complained, and Arathin answered shorty and to the point. "The spiders are starting to move in on us. Ever since the Elves left the woods, the spiders attack anything that enters the forest, even eachother. We cannot stay in one spot for too long. Even on the move they will catch us several times throught the course of our time here. The only places that they do not go are where Adeilya lives and where the Elves' palace ruins stand. Come on, hurry. I can hear them coming closer now."

NO!!! Not spiders... Elgee starts to shake. She clings to the back of her cat, whimpering softly to herself.

*Goldberry strings her bow and nocks an arrow* "c'mon, elgee, they taste JUUUUUUST like chicken......"

They have long hairy legs and beady eyes and they tickle and itch and they climb all over you even if they don't bite and they hurt when they bite even when they aren't poisonous and when they are poisonous they make you sick even if they aren't deadly and when they are deadly they kill you even if they don't eat you and when they eat you even when they don't cook you they use ketchup and when they cook you even when they don't skin you they salt and pepper you...

Elgee kept going on and on on this line of conversation for a very long time. The cats were used to it, but it was driving her fellow travelers crazy.

Elgee, you forget that these spiders are MUCH much MUCH worse. not only are their legs long, but they are wider than a person's neck. Their eyes are beady and bigger than your Jack-o-lantern on halloween. These spiders wont climb over you, they'll squash you, like you are a bug. and the condiments that these creaturs use are far nastier than ketchup, salt and pepper.

*hehehe....so much fun to annoy elgee when she annoys you, tra la la la la!!*

Let's go! *starts walking off in her big, huge, enormous, spder-squishing boots*

Arathin, who had gotten fairly far ahead while they stopped to chat, came back looking a bit annoied, but she kept looking from side to side as though she were hunting. What they didn't know was that she was being hunted.
"Will you guys come on?" She murmers to them. "THEY are coming fast." She draws her sword and turns around to go back up the path. Suddenly a huge hairy spider flies outta nowhere and acts her. She fends it off easily, but now they all can see that they are surrounded, in air and on ground, by hundreds of these huge spiders. "I want you to meet the spiders of Mirkwood everyone." States Arathing sarcastically. As she states this, the spiders attack as thought her voice had been their call to charge.

[Lorien]

Lorien jumps from his steed landing on the back of a spider and hews its head off. Then he leaps to the ground and starts fighting.

[elenya]

Elenya draws her daggers to fend off the spiders, stabbing one in the eye. She throws the other into an incoming spider. Then stomps oh it with her boots just to be sure it was dead. Elgee, behind you...

Goldberry stands up on Rabbit's back. She draws her bow and shoots down as many spiders as she can. "Now we can find out if Spider Topped pizza is any good!!!"

[Valar]

*Valar leaps down from a tree wear her has been sitting right onto a spider that was stalking Elgee, stings an arrow and puts it throw its neck.*
"That was close my friend"
*Elgee didn't see it because she was too busy running round in circles waving a frying pan. So Valar leaps off and draws his new sword Etendi*
"Let us show these fouls beasts what they are messing with"
*He goes and joins his fellow high ranger, Arathin, and starts to fight*

Arathin and Valar slay spider after spider until the spiders become coming too many, too fast.At the lsat moment when all hope looked lost a hooded-figure comes flying in and slays 5 spiders.
"Hello fellow rangers let us slay together." The 3 start slaying away.

Elgee, who has now fainted dead away, does not answer...

[Arathin]

Long live the Rangers! *shouts Arathin as Nain joins the company. She yells out her battle cry, and charges afresh at the vile spiders.* Guinanann i Dunedain! Death to the spider!

[Lorien]

"About damn time someone showed up!!"
Lorien gets very annoyed with the spiders trying to bite his head off and starts shooting balls of flame at the spiders and sets a couple of them on fire. "Roasted spiders topped pizza!"

[elenya]

*Elenya starts coughing* That whole spider on pizza?? Not good. I just tried. *starts attacking even more wildly* Now I have a bad aftertaste!! Die you foul beasts!!

[Glory]

*she has not fainted she looks at Elgee and hides her under a bush she told matt to take care of her* "I want to eat a spider pizza!!!!!!!!!!"

[Aroghel]

*Aroghel gets his bow and puts an arrow to it. His murmurs something under his breath - something Elvish. Then his arrow lights up and is bright golden

"This should take out a few!"

*BLAST!!SWISH!! he launches a golden-light arrow into the air. It slices about 3 spiders and they start to glow, until they explode into balls of light

"I love spider-light!"

*he keeps doing this until there are only a few spiders left

"My magic is running low, I might have to use Tincohyanda. Anybody still up for spider-pizza?!"

[Ecthelion]

Nain begins be-heading spiders. He sees one that is a bit wider and stronger looking than the others. He wants that one dead. Nain waves his staff at the blump spider, the spider flies in the air where everyone can see. He then waves his staff at 5 others. They all fly up next to the big one. Nain then hits his staff and sword together and the 6 spiders explode making a beutiful firework show.:D

I dont know if all that light magic and noise was a good idea. more spiders will be on their way soon. However, i think ill join in the throng....

*Goldberry climbs up a tree onto a low branch and begins shooting at the spiders with fire-arrows*

"thats much more effective. are they all gone yet?"

For now at least. Let's go before more show up! *she starts to pick her way threw the ground littered with spider cracases. Then stares funny at everyone who wanted to eat spider pizza.*

Elgee wakes up... LET'S GET OUT OF THIS SPIDERY PLACE...
She smashes some of them with her pan and they start running.

[Arathin]

Arathin renches the frying pan out of Elgee's hand as Elgee tries to hit her. "Stop it, Elgee. Look everyone, I will now tell you where we are going, but we must keep moving." They all keep going down the path together. "We are going to make a stop and Elessar and my palace here in Mirkwood, then travel on to Adeilya's land. From there it is almost straight to Lothlorien, ok? By the way, our palace is the ruins of the old Elven palace. The one and same that the Dwarves and Biblo were trapped at in the hobbit, in case anyone wants to know." They travel on down the path. "We will reach our palace in two and a half more weeks time. Not long at all."

[HLGStrider]

"GREAT!!! I heard that palace was spider proof..." sighs Elgee who is now starting to wind down. "Lead on."

Arathin led on... and on... and on... You get the general idea, don't you?
They could hear the spiders scurrying behind them at a respectful distance...
Skitter skatter pitter patter skitter skatter pitter patter...

[Arathin]

One whole week passes before the spiders attack again...

"Come on everyone. We must leave the path now. We'll not follow the pathes of Bilbo and company anylonger. Follow me close. I know all the pathes of Mirkwood. (When one lives several thousand years, they learn all about the world in which they live. Mirkwood was always a favorite.)" They leave the path. After about an hour off the path, the spiders attack again as fiece as last time. "Don't set them on fire this time. You'll bring the forest down upon us, if you do." She yells as she unsheaths her blade, and starts beheading the stupid spiders that think they can get away with trying to eat her. <Yea. I don't think so you stupid spiders.>

[HLGStrider]

DIE EVIL SPIDERS!!! DIE MISERABLY!!!

Elgee swings her frying pan with avengence.

*feeling tired of shooting arrows and not being in the action*
Goldberry draws her sword and chops off spider apendages and heads.
"Can we make pizza at your...castle....arathin??? and can i put the topings on??"

[HLGStrider]

I like mine just cheese...
Elgee is a bit too naive to get the joke... Hurry hurry hurry or WE will be the ones being served on pizza... with fly sauce...

[Ecthelion]

Nain yells "Everyone get back behind me!" Everyone obeys killing the closest spider to them first. Then Nain raises his staff and a mithril wall forms in front of them. It runs 7 miles long and 20 feet high. Nain waves his staff again and makes 10 mithril spiders. He wispers something in the dwarven tounge and the spiders go in different directions. "Those spiders I made will keep the other spiders occupied far longer than till we leave your palace Arathin."

[Arathin]

I doubt that Nain. We are a week and a half from that palace still. *They all turn and quickly continue on.*

OOC: Anyone want a quick say in what we do? Just no reaching the palace.

*the group follows Arathin deeper into the dark woods. night is falling once again, and the pitch woods seem to be getting, if it's possible, darker.*
"We must keep going until we must stop, or else we'll never reach the castle!"
but there are darker, more dangerous creatures in the wood besids spiders. and Nain only held off a part of the spiders, so we must always be on guard...

Hurry, I hate spiders...

Nain's mithril spiders, were having the time of their life until the other spiders tripled their numbers. They fought valiently, finally disappearing in a a cloud of mithril shrapnel. This procedure helped them take some of the enemy with them.

The spiders, now free, rush twords the group faster than before. within an hour, they have reached us, with many more added to their number.
"remember what Arathin said, no fire magic, or we'll burn down the woods and ourselves with the spiders!"

[Glory]

*she closes her eyes but opens them again when she hears the spiders coming draws her sword and tries to kill as many of them as she can*

[Arathin]

"Kill as many as you can while still moving. If we stop they will box us in." yells Arathin as the spiders begin to build webs around where the group turned to fend them off. Arathin's sword, Rauko Umbar, glows eerily as she cuts through spider and web to free the group. "Come on. Follow me as best as you can." Arathin slowly keeps the group moving, but the spiders keep building in numbers.

[Glory]

*Glory trips in a web but with the help of Elgee and her frying pan she gets free and continues running and killing spiders*

[Ecthelion]

"You all go ahead!I will take them. I know where your palace is Arathin. If I do not arrive in the night you arrive go on without me." "But Nain"Arathin says "No buts. Now Go!" Arathin reluctantly takes the group along. Nain takes out his sword and staff and prepares for the oncoming spiders. He starts slicing at the first wave of spiders. He uses his staff and shoots mithril arrows at the spiders. He looks to make sure the group is out of sight and then starts fighting again.

[Lorien]

Lorien who was flying in the air thinks, " Nain could use someone's help." SO he lands down next to Nain and pulls out his blacksword and hacks and the head of the nearest spider. Then he raises a circle of undead to attack the spiders giving him and Nain more protection.

[Glory]

*They see Glory coming back* "sorry Nain I couldn't let you alon with all the fun!!" *she start shoothing arrows to the spiders*

[¤-Elessar-¤]

Suddenly the group hears shouts in the distance, and they hear a foul sound as a giant spider passes out. A dark form, rather small, comes up before Arathin. "Don't you go killin' all 'em spider! Me lor' Ele'ar requires 'em be cap'ured, no' killed." Nain notices that the dwarf bears the insigna of Gabil-Dum on his chest, and gives a cry of joy, the two dwarves look at one another. "Melord Nain?" The dwarf says in question, then upon realization he gives a hoot of approval. "Lord Nain, listen t' me! We cannot kill them there spiders! They is part of a project by Ele'ar! We has special rocks (holds out his palm, a grey rock glints dully), and they makes the spiders sleep when they gets a good look at 'em. We have to take them there spiders to a pass in the...(the dwarf all of a sudden looks scared, he quickly corrects his fatal error)to a cave, in the Dark Mountains over yonder!" Cries the dwarf as he points to the south.

[Ecthelion]

"I am very pleased to see you dwarf of Gabil-Dum, I understand what lord Ellesar means and I have a plan. I will roung up the spiders then you get them to look in the rocks." Nain waves his staff and some oncoming spiders. An almost translucent box forms around the spiders. Nain repeats the process to all the spiders sround them.
"There, now get them to look at the rocks and then we shall find a way to transport them. I have a question for you though young dwarf. What does the lord Ellesar want to do with these spiders?"

[HLGStrider]

Hurry hurry hurry... Run, Luke, Run!!! says Elgee who has noqualms as to fleeing eightlegged beast.s

[Glory]

*she looks at Nain* "so are going to go with Elessar?" :confused:

[¤-Elessar-¤]

*soon all of the spider like creatures are subdued, and a troop of Silivan elves arrived in short order, with great contraptions, like multi-level carts. Each level swiviled on a great pole that ran through the middle of the carts. The cart had bars running up from the bottom to the top on three sides, and each layer had its own set of bars on one side. They saw two or three elves work with each giant spider, they would rotate a layer until it was poking outside of the cart, lay a spider onto it, and swivle it around. In such a way each cart was able to transport 5 or 6 spiders, which was much more effecient than one. The bodies of the fallen spiders were loaded onto a plain cart, and would later be used as feed for the live ones. The dwarf took Nain aside while the others watched the process. "Lor' Nain," said the dwarf, "I can' t'll ya of thi', save tha it serv's t' help one of the lords prob'ems, one tha' he aint too fond of talkin' bout. He 'ould prob'y be most abilged if ya was t' join him, he'll be t' dinner when wese gets back! You could travel wit' us, makes the journey easier, wit' one more mouth to sing!"

[Arathin]

My dear Uzbadul, we will be most obliged to ride with you to the palace. I must say that I was wondering if you were going to show up or not. Well I must say that you did a good job. It is well that Elessar chose such an able being to carry out this difficult task. *Uzbadul bowed low* Than'ee m'lady. *Arathin smiles and gets into the lead cart. The company gets onto the other carts. Soon they roll up to Arathin and Elessar's palace. Arathin leaps out of the cart before it stops and runs inside to find Elessar. Soon she sees him wandering the hall. As always he is lost in deep thought. At first he doesn't even notice Arathin's entrance into the hall he is in.

[¤-Elessar-¤]

Elessar turns suddenly, seeing Arathin, and trips on a decaying rug. He falls flat on his face. The rest of the company comes in, and die in laughter, for when he fell dust was stirred, and he was covered in bits of old cloth and dirt.

[Arathin]

Arathin walked over to him, and, laughing her head off, tries to help him up. The only problem is that the risen dust has made the floor slippery, she soon also falls to the floor. (not to mention the small fact that Elessar wasn't trying to get up and had pulled her down)

Goldberry leans against the doorway, falling over with laughter.
"seriously, Arathin, seeing as it is your house, i would expect a little less dust. or would i expect some more?? anyways, i saved a spider leg. who wants pizza?? Elgee??"

[Arathin]

Actually, Goldberry, we just moved here. It was only ruins until recently. We haven't had the chance to clean more than a few rooms yet. *Try as Arathin may, she can't extract herself from Elessar's arms.* Elessar we do have guests. *This train of thought doesn't seem to matter to him. So she whispers in his ear and he lets her go. Arathin stands up, and leads Goldberry to the kitchen.* You can make you pizzas in here. *Then she leaves Goldberry in there with the other cooks.*

after about an hour goldberry brings her spider topped pizza out to the dining hall. "dont worry, there's a plain and a pepperoni one too. but this is for the more daring people."

[Arathin]

Arathin thinks she'll pass on pizza all together. "I'll just go and get something else to eat." She walks off.

[Goldberry344]

Arathin, i worked hard on that pizza. at least try a sliiiiiceeee???!?!?!?!?!

Just takes the spider off mine.. thanks for hosbitality Elassar...

Whoever eats that pizza is sick and twisted! Is there any normal food here? Any sorrell...lemon juice....*everyone stares at her* What? Sour's good!

OOC:Since I am a little late on posting, first I am going to post when we came in.
Nain walks up next to Ellesar and Arathin while laughing his head off. He then slaps his from laughter. But, hitting his knee amkes his leg fly out from under him and he lands on the floor with the other 2 laughing harder than he was before.

OOC:In the kitchen

While evryone is yelling and screaming over food and drink Nain finds Ellesar and takes him to another room. "One of your dwarves said you would like to have a word with me about the spiders. Is this true?"

[Lorien]

Spider-topped pizza oh joy! Lorien runs over and grabs a slice and starts eating really fast. "Hey, tastes goooodddd!!!!!!"

[¤-Elessar-¤]

Nain...come with me.
*The walk for a while, up rickety stair cases and down long forgotten halls, at last the come to a dead end, and a Window that faces in all directions. They look out over the wood for a long while, in the east they can just spy the tip of Nain's tower.
"Nain, I have many enimies, this you know."
Nain nods
"But until recently I have also had many friends, many I deemed would fight alongside me for years to come. But recently, ever since I have begun to restore this old realm, I have been receiving less than needed support...I have no allies, save for my governorships in Rohan and Gabil-Dum. I have to take precautions on all sides, the orcs of the Misty Mountains are a danger, but what is beyond those mountains is the real threat. Arnor will never leave me be, I thought that a separation, by the greatest mountains in Arda, would finnaly put this thing between Ciryaher and me to rest, but it seems now that he will persue me still. And gondor has a direct path from the south to here, not even a river to defend...I am quite sure that you inquired as to the use of the spiders? I was going to have them all slain, but they are a far to valuable tool for controling the borders of the wood, they will be a part of my defence system, a system that is slow in coming.

Meanwhile, Elgee calls Arathin into conferecne.
We are a bit too far north, aren't we?

We are a little out of the way. Consider it a small detour. We were running low on food and suppies anyway. Now we can restock, head to Adeilya's place, and go straight to Lothlorien from there. It is better than starving in the woods or being eaten by spiders, isn't it? *Arathin smiles and walks over to the others.* There is more food in the kitchen, for those of you who want something else. *Arathing leads the way to the kitchen, so they know how to find it. The Elven cooks, that she had personally picked out, welcomed the special food and drink orders as something to do, other than prepare spider food. Arathin stayed with the guests, even though she wondered what Elessar and Nain were talking about. She wished she could have gone with them, but knew her duty as hostess.*

"arathin, do you have any arrows? when we go back on the road i will need more, i used most all of mine on the spiders!"

Elgee, happy that they are still on track, starts playing poker with her cats. They are having the time of their lives when suddenly Elgee hears someone yell her name. The surprise makes her drop her cards, allowing the cats to see that she is bluffing... drat... "What do you want?" she frowns at the name caller who, of course, is...

Arathin, who is warning Elgee about an approaching Goldberry
*runs tword Elgee with a spider leg and starts trying to tickle her with it*

[HLGStrider]

NO NO!! MERCY MERCY..." Elgee weeps... She starts screaming hysterically and runs up the tower, knocking head first into poor Nain who was being all so serious with Elasser...

Nain is nocked into a post, one holding up the windows, Eglee is less fortunate. She figures out, all to late, that the windows had yet to be put in, and consisted of simple air. These windows, completely unable to hold any bodywieght, let her fall from the highest tower, she fell a good two hundred feet, right into the cart of spider parts that was waiting to be disposed of.

Nain, being a dwarf loses his temper very quickly. He runs down to Elgge and says "If you do that again I will be tickling you with YOUR own leg!" He then leaves Elgge there. On his way back up he tells everyone of Elgee's problem. He turns back to Ellesar "I understand. I see your situation very clearly. I have another question for you now. Will you not take my offer as an allie now in your time of need?" Nain puts out his arm in a hoping for a returned handshake

[Arathin]

Arathin had followed Elgee. Seeing her fall out of the window and into spider parts, she fell over laughing so hard that she had tears running down her cheeks.

Goldberry starts laughing too, and runs outside to see Elgee. Rabbit (the cat) runs up to Goldberry, unsure how to take Elgee's new resting spot.

*Elenya, of course, is laughing because as long as it doesn't happen to her it's pretty darn funny!* Elgee!....spiders!!...Buahahahaha!!!!

[Lorien]

Lorien laughs until tears start falling from his eyes and helps Elgee off the spider parts. "So don't want a slice of that spider-topped pizza for sure?"

[Glory]

*Glory laughts but then she went to help Elgee*

[Arathin]

Are you alright, Elgee? *yells down Arathin, still laughing hard.* So Elessar what were you and Nain talking about? or do I already know everything, dear?

[HLGStrider]

Elgee can't stop screaming...
"Spiders spiders.. creepy hairy terrible creatures... deadly.. evil icky itchy scratchy monstrous creatures..." she weeps, shaking hysterically... "Elgee is not okay. Elgee needs a vacation... Elgee needs a bath... Elgee needs a lot of things, and spiders aren't on the list..."

[Glory]

*she carries Elgee away from the spider still laughting* "Calm you are not near then anymore and goldberry don't tickle her again..."

Elessar seems at a lack of jovialness for the occasion, he speaks to Arathin,"Nothing new, my dear." He then gathers himself and begins to decend the towers, calling back for them to come and find him when they decide to leave. He walks deep down, into the caverns below the palace.

Elgee looks after poor Elessar whistfully... "Poor dear... such a hard time..." she sighs. "Don't think he's in the right sort of mood for me to cheer him up, however..."

[Arathin]

Arathin watches Elessar leave, then turns to the rest of the company. "He is right we should leave soon. Everyone please start gathering together anything that we'll need for the journey to Adeilya's land." She turns to descend the steps, when a thought struck her. "Actually, we'll not stop in Adeilya's land. We'll continue through them. Pack extra supplies. We go from here to Lothlorien directly. We'll leave in a few hours, so be quick about it." With that Arathin leaves the others. She goes down the steps in search of Elessar. Something about his look had desturbed her. He is easy for her to find because she had been down here with him many times before.

[Glory]

*she packs a lot of food on her bag* "what!..I'm not like a hobbit!!! I just don't want to eat spiders or nothing like that! they gave me stomach ache!"

[HLGStrider]

"Well, I'm ready... Nobody pack any spider pizza... I'd rather starve... The cats are ready too.. they don't mind eating spiders..."

That was obvious, as the creatures had already consumed all of the spider pizza.
"Are you two coming along now?" Elgee asked Elessar and Nain.

If they are we should leave before the sun sets. Spiders seem to like the night more. I suppose that as long as they're just little spiders it wouldn't be so bad... *She turns too see Rabbit with spider legs dangling from the cat's mouth* I'm sure the cat's won't mind... *shudder*
