To make it simpler for all during Rp's we should post all laws/treaties, etc. which are of importance here, so as to set the guidlines for our nations, and to keep all orderly and easily found by new members or others. This would be much simpler then directing attention to a numberof posts at once. I shall issue these two proclomations now:
__________________________________________________ _____
Henceforth all lands which are under the Control of Dengen-Goroth shall be known as provinces. The Following are henceforth provinces of Goroth:Mordor,Rhun, Harad, Khand, Southern Mirkwood, all lands eastward of Rhun, South Gondor, and the Brown Lands. The Boundries now srand as from The Eastern Shore to the Anduin and from the Southernmost land of Harad to the conjunction of the Celduin and Carnen. There may be a diagonal drawn from the Southern tip of the East Bight to the Dimril Dale. All of Mirkwood and lands south of the line up to the Anduin are also within the borders of Goroth. All of these Provinces are of the Mornclaur Federation . This shall now be the universal titles of all the affermentioned provinces.
__________________________________________________ _______
Henceforth none shall be allowed enterence within the Brown Lands least under approval. A great undertaking known as the reforestation shall occur where the Brown Lands shall be replanted with the things of beauty as in the Great Dells of Middle Earth. This Project shall take some time to complete, and when done the Brown Lands will be a rich and abundant fertile Land. To prevent damage to this undertaking and to not hamper the soil least what be planted wither this is enacted.

Land? What do you need with land?
All the lands have been claimed by rulers.

Dengen claimed the lands because no one had them. Ciryaher claimed Arnor because I was King of Gondor.
Prove your worth ere you think of begging.

I am Elessar Elfstone II. I am the direct decendent of Aragorn II. I hereby establish my claim as lord of the nations in exile. No other being in the forum has the claim to them that I do. I will also distill my location now, I am dwelling upon the hill Amon Anwar. This hill, by the tradition of Isildur is banned from all save myself and those whom I appoint.
The tradition of Isildur:
This is a tomb and memorial of Elendil the Faithful. Here it shall stand at the mid-point of the Kingdom of the south in the keeping of the Valar, while the Kingdom endures; and this place shall be a hallow that none shall profane. Let no man disturb its scilence and peace, enless he be an heir of Elendil.
And it also says
Up this stair let no man climb, save the King, and those that he brings with him, if he bids them follow him.
The tradition of Isildur has stood since the end of the Last Alliance, and will continue to stand. No man, be he Beorn or Ciryaher, can transverse that stair, or come to that clearing at the top of the hill. Breaking this code is treason against the nations in Exile, and would break any of their claims to royalty in that land.
Ciryaher
03-06-2002, 01:57 AM
Elessar, you forget that I too am an Heir of Elendil (although not quite the direct descent that you claim).
And, furthermore, I am a servant of the Valar and a disciple of Eru. If it is willed by the Ainur or He Himself, then I may go where I will at the grace of Eru Iluvatar and his Children.
¤-Elessar-¤
03-06-2002, 06:02 PM
Decent of Elendil, but heir refers to the bloodline of the kings. And as far as I know I am the closest to that line that exists. And if you claim yourself a servant of the Valar, as I do, than I trust that you will not tread upon grounds under their protection unless the rules provide.

And you with half the blood of the Noldor? You are not a descendant of Elendil by your own claim. Even if your mother were completely of Elendil's blood, we of Westernesse trace our lineage through the father, and your claim is void since your father was a Noldo and NOT an heir of Elendil.

No, the Numenorian were the first to honor the equality of Women, as is the case with Tar-Ancalime. Not to mention that the line of the kings has changed. No longer is your line included, the line of Strider is now in rule. And the line of Strider is mine.
And, while we are at it....
I hereby decree to choose the race of Men. The race of the Numenorians is the race that I choose.

Ciryaher- Somewhere...in one of the darned books, it says that the line of the kings of numenore was ended, or something to that effect... I'll look for it when I have time. btw- his decendents, the house of strider, became the new rulers at the beginning of the fourth age. Nain feeling he needs to protect his land as well begins to make a wall around his land. The walls resemble the strength of Gondor's past walls. Every 1/2 a mile within his walls Nain starts to make towers going twice as high the walls. In each tower will be 5 archers each equipped with a bow and 30 arrows. By each gate (3 one on the South, East, and West sides) there is always 10 dwarven warriors patroling it. Each warrior will be equipped with a helm, sheild, throwing axe or knife, battle axe or sword, and metal boots. dwarves dont like chest armor. Being also built are houses so people can GET OUT OF MY TOWER! There is also soon to be a mess room for eating. My blacksmiths work in a deep part of The Lonely Mountain. Nain is also giving daily lessons to some of his men on cavalry. Nain will feel a little more protected when everything is finished.

Just to make sure that everyone knows, nothing comes without consequences, these are my suggestions for the taxation upon each countries resources. This can be translated into 1 forum year = 6 weeks. And manpower resources differ on forien help.
Arnor- Great Cathedral- 1.5 years taxes for the perfect stone and valuable wood required for a temple to the Valar. I will go with 10,000 good men to finish it in 2 years), which will be at least a 6th of the Arnorian Army.
Mornclaur- great wall w/towers, reconstruction- 4 years tax from the entire federation and 200,000 men for the walls (3 years, 1/4 of Federation's manpower). And reconstruction of a 100km*100km (10000 sq. Kilometers) will run 1/2 year of tax and 1,000 men over a 10 year period (nature takes a while, and reletively works for itself).
Zirak Khazad- Towers and defence preparations, city- 1 year tax (expensive stuff and difficult to build weapons) and 5,000 dwarves can finish in 1/2 a year (dwarves are tough and good builders). City will take 3 years and 1.5 years tax, it will probably take a good 10,000 people, depending on size.
Rohan- Wall and towers- 2 years tax and 10,000 workers for 1.5 years (really big space for a wall and bastions)
Lonely Mountain- Towers & army buildings- A good 1/2 years tax, mostly for the housing, the towers won't cost too much. 1,000 dwarves in 1 year.
I do realize that most of you will probably claim otherwise, but this seems fair to myself.

Announcement:
The Control of Northern Mirkwood (all lands above the northernmost section eastern blight, hereafter refered to as Greenwood, or more properly- Eryn Lasgalen) has been handed on to myself, seeing as I am decendent of Thingol Greycloak, kinsman of the lord Thranduil. I have also claimed the unclaimed lands between Greenwood and the Misty Mountains, which is often refered to as the vales of the Anduin. (which is indeed the place of old Beorn's Kinsman and decendents) These lands are one nation, and this nation shall be known as Dor-Taur-Sir, the land of forest and river. It has 4 provinces, the southernmost (from the eastern blight to the Old Forest Road) is Harorod, the next(northward, from road to elven path) is Taurhar, and the northernmost is Edhel. The western province, everything that isn't woodland, is called Rhunorod. The Dor-Taur-Sir extends its hands in friendship and in hopeful alliance to The Kazum Kingdoms, Rohan, the Mornclaur Federation, and the Zirak Khazad. Good day to you all.

Can I also say on a completely seperate note that it makes no sense to the overall RP that an established character, whose past history movements and armed forces are well established could suddenly lay claim to vast tracts of territory, and that that claim should be credible.
Can I suggest that we put a stop to this, and let some other characters take charge of some land? Eg The Elves have no land and N. Mirkwood would be suitable.
This is my suggestion for consideration by the mods. Glad to hear other views.
On the other hand, in case this sort of claim is legitimate, I hearby claim Enedwaith, bounded by the Greyflood, Glanduin, Misty Mountains and the Isen, down to the coast.

Mormegil, what is the size of the city? And will it be built of stone or wood?
I would like to proclaim that the Artisians will be headquartered in the realm of Dor-Taur-Sir before too long. I am currently ruling from a camp set up near the ruins of Thranduil's city of the elves, a restoration project for the city will come shortly. I have equiped them with weapons borrowed from the dwarves and most of them are beginning to clear the realm, of those nasty giant spiders and all other evil things. This will take a while. The smaller portion (1-2 thousands) is beginning to clear a place for a perminant resedence in a new province, one that shares boundries with the other four. This province shall not have a governor(like D.C.) and doesn't have a name yet. Here a place of defence shall be built. I am constructing a tower in the mountains of Mirkwood, this shall be a center of learning, and I hope to create a library there. There will also be a place built in the lower province, but that is still being drawn up.

The city of Aldamar will be home to about 10,000 Dwarves. It will be made of stone mined from the White Mountains. There will be extensive underground caverns beneath the main towers of the city.
The City would be an ideal place for meetings, councils, summits etc.

Anyone who wishes to enter into the land of Rohan. Will have to be:
*Identified
And asked these Questions
*Where you came from?
*Your name?
*What connections you have with me?
*Why you want to enter my land?
*What trouble do you bring ?
If you do not answer these Questions you may not enter.
This goes for everyone with the exception of the White Council members.

alright then, Mormegil. I will judge that to be 5,000 dwarves, and since you are mining the stone yourself(that will save some money) I will say 1 year of tax, and 2 years for the city. And 1 year for every 5 miles of underground passages, if you wish them safe.

Construction in each Province that is being, or is to be, done.
Edhelerin- Rebuilding the halls of the wood elves, old elven path will be upgraded to a road, road built to Lonely Mountain from elven palace.
Taurorod- Building of a single, great tower on the eastern edge of the Mountains of Mirkwood. A cave is being fortified on the western side of the Mirkwood Mountains, this is rather large and will serve to hold the giant spiders, which shall be fed stray orcs periodically. Road from great tower to old forest road.
Rhunorod- A fort upon the isle of Corrock, reconstruction of old ford road (which crosses the mountain and goes to Rivendel), building of road from old ford road to the old elf path, this will for the most part follow the river, and will cross over into Corrock.
Taurhar- A capitol building is being built in the cheif woodman village, and a road upon the western fringe of the wood, that will enter the wood to connect that village, this road will go to connect to the new road in Rhunorod.
Also, projects to capture the giant spiders, and other magical (and for the most part evil) creatures of the wood continue. These will all have protective habitats at different parts of the wood, but will be kept in caverns in the mountains until those can be established and fortified. (ooc: does anyone know of any other creatures in Mirkwood that are not the spiders, if you do I would appriciate the PM...it has been a long time since I read the Hobbit.)
The map attached outlines the borders of my country. It is bordered on the east by Mornclaur and the Lonely Mountain, on the east by the misty mountains, on the south by Dol-Guldor and Lorien, on the north by the Grey Mountains.
My hand is still extended in offers of Alliance to Mornclaur, Zirak Khazad, the Kazum Kingdoms, and Rohan. (also to Lorien if Wizdom is still her lord)

In the fair tree-covered land of Ithilien, where two roads cross, there lies a ruined and broken city. It was once a fair and great city, but many long years of war and captivity by evil had destroyed it, and the moonlight no longer filled its halls with light. The evil that once lived there had been vanquished, and driven out, but after many long years still no one would live there. But now Minas Ithil’s time had come.
In the spring of the world, when Ithilien’s trees were just budding, great rafts filled with dwarven stone floated down the great river Andúin to Osgiliath, and carted the short 25 miles to the city, which was after so many years filled with people. All sorts of stonemasons, carpenters, smithies, and laborers were busily working among the shells of buildings, tearing down unstable walls, badly broken stones, patching chipped ones, and doing all sorts of other repairs. In the midst of all this great project, was the Lady of Ithilien, Talierin, planning and directing and encouraging.
The labor started at the west end of the city and worked its way eastward. The great bridge leading into the city had long since lost at least half of its stones, and was pulled down. A new one was put up in its place, made of white marble. It seemed to be incredibly delicate, but was in truth strong enough to bear the weight of at least 20 oliphaunts. Next to go was the huge gates and their supporting arch. They were nearly untouched, but such an aura of evil was upon them that Talierin’s wizards, who were carefully purifying all the original stones not to be taken out and the very ground, could not cleanse them. They were replaced by two white pillars and a new gate of dwarven iron, wrought in the form of trees. From there, the walls of the city were slowly replaced section by section, and inside quite a few of the large houses and mansions were taken out to be replaced with parks and tree-filled areas and public courtyards and squares with fountains. The river flowing down from the Morgul Pass was purified and made drinkable, and a clever system of aqueducts was installed to water the entire city. Murals were painted all along the main street, chronicling history. Everywhere there was carvings of trees on the walls. The houses that were not pulled down were refurbished and made grand and beautiful once more. Two of them were transformed into a library and a school for all sorts of artisans. On the roof of the library, a star-gazing platform was built, and an object called a telescope that magnified stars installed.
Outside the walls, ugly and disgusting plants were torn out, smelly meads filled in, the land cleared and cleansed, and gardens and trees planted. Along the road for 15 miles in every direction, Talierin healed the remaining trees, and planted new ones, making grand archways of trees. Lanterns were placed every 50 feet along the road, and every 3 miles there were small houses placed for the use of the lantern-lighters and weary travelers. The great statue of the king, its head fallen off, was restored, along with its fellow statues.
The last, but biggest change of all in the city was the pulling down of the tower in the center of it. Talierin consulted long with her chief craftsmen about it, and it was finally decided to bring it down. Like the gates, it too would never be fully clean. But instead of rebuilding a new tower, Talierin decided to create something special on the site. A great white domed hall began to arise out of the ground, stone by stone. It looked like the tree hall in the Shire, only it was circular, much larger, and made of stone instead of trees. The supporting pillars, however, were cunningly carved to resemble trees, reaching up to the dome. The floor was made out of a golden-colored stone, and leaf shapes were carved into it. At the edge of the cleared area, in the middle of which the hall stood, Talierin carefully planted a double row of trees all the way around, and using her powers, caused them to grow to their full size in a few hours. When all this was finished, so was the city, and there was much rejoicing in its new white halls.
After rebuilding the city, Talierin and the Green Wizards, as asked by her lord Dengen, replanted and grew the Brown Lands, the empty land in front of the Morannon, bits of Mordor, and South Gondor. The eastern parts of Middle-earth were starting to return to what they once were in the youth of the world, fair and green. The shadow of evil that had long lain upon them was being pushed back.
Also, Talierin decided to partially rebuild the halls on Emyn Arnen, the residence of the rulers, princes, and governors of Ithilien ever since the great War of the Ring. Since the tower in Minas Ithil had been pulled down, there was no place to govern the city from inside. So Emyn Arnen would become the governing place of the city. The halls that lay upon the top of the hill were enlarged and made bigger, a whole wing added for the many messengers that would be coming and going between the city and the halls.
There was to be many other rebuilding projects here and there, but nearly everything was finished in time for the great Senate of the Mornclaur Federation.
Note from Talierin
This does not mean that Ithilien will be open more. You must either be on official business or have my personal permission to enter the borders. Violators will be severly punished.

I have received the serivices of 2,000 dwarves, they, together with the others working in Dor-Taur-Sir, will work to capture the foul creatures that have long lived in the wood, they will be put in a temporary camp at the western side of the mountains of mirkwood. The dwarves will mainly be working on the Minas Vorimakala, the tower of Everlasting Light. This tower will always be lit by natural light (sun or moon) through a system of mirrors that begin at the pinnacle of the tower. The tower will be approximately an eighth of a mile high, and will be 1,000 feet in diameter, it is in the shape of a cylinder with a cone, with a tall, spiraling, peak. All of the documents I have gathered over the years and the contents of the library of Himling will be kept there, of which most precious are the history of the war of the Silmarils and the book of the lesser works of Feanor.
(I have many older books that were survived from Beleriand on Himling, and copies of these I would like to donate to the library of Ithilien, if Talerin agrees.)
This tower will dry up the last of my funds, which includes selling my great suit of golden armour. It will also take 1/2 year of taxes from my small amount of citizens (for indeed, it is an exquisite tower). The space for the tower has been cleared, and it will be put in a cleft between two arms of the easternmost twin mountains of Mirkwood. There is no road to the site yet.

He is teaching them cavalry and archery at the time. Also anyone well trained in the arts of archery who would mine coming to teach please do. Nain is also going on a trip after some of his classes. What he plans to do is make a trip into the deep Misty Mts. There he would like to find as many Mountain Trolls as he can. The Mountain Trolls will not attack me, The Killer Of Gothmog, but will plead for mercy. I will then use them as guards for my base (I would like 2 for each gate, therefore I need 6). OK here are where I think the boundaries lie. I might be wrong, but this is an attempt to clarify.
The blue areas are disputed:
(1) Arandor; currently disputed by Gondor and Arnor
(2) Forochel; currently simultaneously claimed by Arnor, Khazum Kingdom and Mornclaur
(3) Small area east of Anduin; currently claimed by Dor-Taur-Sir and Mornclaur.
The yellow area appears to be unclaimed.
I hereby claim it!
If that area has previously been claimed, please post the evidence. It is definitely not part of Dor-Taur-Sir, since I have consulted Elessars map closely. It is not part of 'historic' Gondor or Rohan so no 'by default' claims please!
However, I don't want this land for myself. I will hand it over to any worthy member of the forum who participates often and is not a current ruler and has good ideas for it. If you want it, come and claim it! (Sorry about that!) PM me...
Does anyone disagree with these boundaries? I won't be surprised! Let me know where its wrong, and I'll do another version.

Dor-Taur-Sir would like to announce that a military force is leaving it's borders, and is on it's way to Rohan, to celebrate it's new Alliance with the great nation.
Peace of some sort has been had in the eaves of Mirkwood, the Silivan elves there have, as in times of old, have grown in numbers. This is in much thanks to the long absense of a dark lord, and the fact that the current dark lord is not as evil as the name implies. The elves have reconstructed their old home in the northeastern parts of the great forest and have begun to migrate from around the forest back to that ancestral place. There were some twenty thousand elves that were counted as citizens of the elven province of Dor-Taur-Sir. Some thirteen thousands of them were male, and twelve thousands of them were inlisted into the province's army. This well armed force is headed by a system of twelve generals, each of which served in the War of the Last Alliance, and three of them migrated eastward from the land of Doriath, where they were under the command of lord Thingol. Each of these generals has ten captains, these captains serve to the particular needs of their one hundred men, and consult their Generals.
There is a force of some four thousand Beornings that have also marshaled, and they have joined the elven army from the north. They are under a similar structure to the rest, only the four generals are of Dunedian lineage, and are the kin to lord Elessar.
The peoples of the middle and lower eastern provinces have attributed another thousand skilled bowmen and trackers who will join the army.
Thus the entire force of Dor-Taur-Sir is some seventeen thousands-
10 thousand mounted cavalry (elven)
4 thousand booted infantry (Beornings)
3 thousand specialists (Elven and Woodsmen)
Six thousand elven women have been sent to Rhunorod, and are working on government owned farm operations. They produce, by elven craft, enough food to maintain the army and the rest of the country, but little more. There is another thousand sturdy elven women who are working to produce arrows. They also produce woodcraft that is to be traded to neibors for other military necessities.

In the Khazum Kingdom of old it was stated that they had several thousand Eagle-Riders. I hereby propose a total ban on such units. Here is my reasoning.
(1) The Great Eagles (like the Ents) are not answerable to any power of Middle-Earth. They are servants of Manwe alone
(2) The Eagles can be ridden, but not for great distances, and not for the purposes of combat. The Eagles can fight, but encumbered by a person, they turn and move slowly. An armored individual would simply be too heavy
(3) The Great Eagles are not great in numbers: about 100 or so I would think.
Therefore I do not agree with any claiming these as part of their armies, and believe all should agree never to claim them.
Let all the leaders of Middle Earth have their say on this matter.
¤-Elessar-¤
05-06-2002, 05:14 PM
I shall have to say that I agree with the main point of the post. The Eagles should not be used by one nation, in great numbers, and should be counted not among the armies anywhere. They are exclusive to the use of those who serve the light of Manwe, and those who counter the deeds of the Dark Lord(s)
Ciryaher
05-06-2002, 05:16 PM
I think that only the Children of Eru and Aule should be used by those who serve the West for military purposes; those who serve Morgoth Bauglir should use only Uruks, Ologs, and Wargs.
That is what I think. No dragons, eagles, ents, or cats.

Elven Warriors- Horsed Elven men, they each have a long spear, and a sword.
Elven Archers- Elves that are armed with elven bows and arrows. They often are sent out in small packs, and tend to walk barefooted and light in the forests. They are nearly impossible to detect or find, and they leave no tracks.
Woodsman Rangers- People of the southern wood. They are excelent hunters, often providing food for the army, and they are very stealth in most types of environments. They usually go as bowmen or assasins, bowmen being the most prominant. They are the equivelent of elves in their marksmenship.
Beornings- No longer the use of Gondor, the Beornings are a part of the Dor-Taur-Sir nation. They often go as booted cavalry, and many retain their shapeshift abilities. They are experts with the wide-open plains and rivers. They have been strengthened by long wars with orcs, and are sturdy in the face of fear and adversity.
-- All of the peoples of Dor-Taur-Sir have profited in being absent from wars. They have not declaired war on an enimy since the first war against Sauron- The war of the last alliance. They were weak then, but have in secret grown. The elves are as strong, and numerous now as they ever were, although they are not as glorious and ambitious as the Noldor were. They are led by Elves who had surved under Thingol Greycloak, and have, in ages past, fought the might of Melkor Morgoth, and thus they fear no enimey. Their numbers are as follows.
Race/Homeland------Number of Total enlisted---Number currently serving
Elven Men----------20,000---------------------10,000
Beornings----------15,000----------------------8,000
Woodsmen-----------10,000----------------------5,000
TOTAL-------45,000---------------------23,000
*The total inlisted makes up 4/5 of the total population of able men

Elessar why arn't the Beorings No longer under Gondors control? Have you asked Beorn?
¤-Elessar-¤

The Beornings were never under the rule of Gondor, they have never before been acounted part of a Kingdom. Beorn can speak to me if he wishes it otherwise, I am sure we can work something out.

Nain travels and travels on his horse with 1,000 workers towads the Northern Waste. Finnaly they arrived.Nain looked about the land in disgust. Immediately he gave his men orders and they all took off to different places in the Northern Waste. The dwarves were planting trees, grass, bushes, and all types of wild life all throughout The Northern Waste. This process will take a 3 days in reality. Before night all the dwarves set up tents in which to live in until the dwarves finish planting greens and finish bulding Komnah, a huge castle taking upalmost all of The Northern Waste. Komnah will be done by this Saturday real time.

Umm...there's a reason the Northern Waste is called that.
No plants can grow there; at least not anything but lichens and hardy grasses. Don't be foolish.

You are right Ciryaher. Tundra and permafrost at best. Just ice and snow further north still.
Oh, and its not unclaimed. Technically its owned by the Mornclaur Federation. The patrol will be passing fairly soon, which you will be greatly relieved about.
You will find your spades cannot penetrate the frozen ground, so you cannot dig foundations for your castle (which sounds a bit large if you don't mind me saying). Your plants won't survive, even if you manage to plant them. You are living in tents. Unless you are very fortunate, you will all be suffering from exposure and possibly frost-bite. Already, white wolves will be circling your camp.
But do not fear, the patrol will chase them off, bring you hot drinks and help you to our borders.
My advice would be to ask someone if there might be some hills you can govern and mine. For instance perhaps King Valar would like someone to mine the hills of Andrast (SW Gondor) for him?

In the old days before independence the Grey Mountains had 6,000 orcs enlisted in the army.
Being true orc country now, all the adult males are under arms. All orcs learnt to fight, as soon as they can walk. If they survive to adulthood, its because they are strong and hardy.
The forces are therefore now like this:
6,000 Great orcs (uruks, or hobgoblins as they were described in The Hobbit). These are heavily armoured and armed foot soldiers, and many of them highly proficient archers. They have completed training provided by the Mornclaur Federation as posted previously, and they wear the best dwarven made armour. They are the shock troops of the Grey Mountains.
12,000 Orcs. These are highly mobile forces, stealthy and secretive, using tricks learnt from the Temple of Light, from Gabil-Dum of old. Appart from that knowledge they also have been taught some secrets of battle from the Dol Guldur orcs. Many of them ride on wargs. They are experts at harrassing and destroying forces with hit and run raids.
Needless to say all orcs see in the dark better than the light, and are all but unbeatable in their own tunnels.
In the tunnels there are a large number of trolls, but these rarely venture forth except on the longer winter nights.

Let it also be known that there is a great need for timber at this time. So a great felling of trees from the north of the forest of Mirkwood is being undertaken. Don't worry its a big forest... what's a few trees amongst so many, eh?
¤-Elessar-¤
05-14-2002, 05:09 PM
No person, be he man, elf, or orc, has been given permission to cut trees in Mirkwood. Dor-Taur-Sir has strict trade policies, and the use of it's most valuable resource (lumber) is most restricted and watched. Any of your people, from this hour forth, caught chopping trees in my forest will die immediately.
Snaga
05-14-2002, 05:25 PM
Oh really? Well, I value my people above mere trees. Lay a finger on any of my people and it is your folk who will die.
Anyway I've chopped loads already, so as you're so unreasonable, my men will take these for now, and we'll see if its enough.;)
¤-Elessar-¤
05-14-2002, 05:33 PM
No, you haven't. I have had patrols watching the norther borders since your little 'rebellion', no trees were cut. If you need wood, I am more than happy to set up trade routs, we could negotiate something, I am sure. (you can't just say that you've cut bunches of wood. That is like me saying that I sealed up all of the entrances to your mountains, save one, and pumped water into that one, killing your people. It just couldn't have happened)

Well Elessar it is interesting to see how your mind works, and I have to say I don't think that's really the same. Apart from that I am not attempting mass murder... there is the fact that chopping down a tree takes maybe half an hour, whereas the construction required to block entrances to the orc-holds and then flood them would take several weeks. But nevertheless...
I suppose your patrols might have caught up with my axe-bearers before they could get what they wanted. So let us consider a trade.
I need 500 tree trunks, hardwoods (e.g. oaks etc, not pines). If you fell 'em, my boys can drag them away. What would you want in return? I have posted trading commodoties here:

here are some ratios (for lack of a better word)
250 trunks- 8000 pounds of Iron
125 trunks- 600 gallons of Oil
125 trunks- 6000 pounds of amûnenghin

(This place really needs a clear out when a thread like this disappears off the page so quick...)
Anyway Elessar trade is a sensible idea, as we are neighbours.
I didn't quite get what **** meant in your post. so I'm not sure if your suggesting a fair price.
However when we agree on a price I will send a raftsman down the forest river with the materials floating in barrels. I seem to remember that's how you do business!:D
¤-Elessar-¤
05-22-2002, 11:30 PM
I was trying to get you to offer a price, but it seems you are as reluctant as was I. Here, I'll fill it in.
Snaga
05-23-2002, 12:52 AM
Hmmm well I don't know. I think we agree something based on iron for lumber. How about 500 trunks for 11,000 pounds of iron then?
(Well, you have to haggle!)
¤-Elessar-¤
05-23-2002, 05:27 PM
lord snaga, if I could direct you to my first post, the one that had the '****', I have filled them in and made an offer. You may barter with it.
Snaga
05-23-2002, 10:14 PM
I saw you'd filled it in. I was making a counter-bid.
In particular, I think oil is a lot more valuable than that. Rather than get into an argument over that I thought a iron for timber trade would be more easy to agree.
¤-Elessar-¤
05-23-2002, 11:13 PM
I had thought that you were referring to lamp oil, not petrolium oil. My mistake. I can now see how you thought it so valuable. However, Lord Snaga, we have a small supply of Iron, and do not need quite that much. So, dropping the oil, I will suggest 500 lumber for 8,000 pounds of Iron and 6,000 pounds of your special metal.
Snaga
05-24-2002, 01:23 PM
OK. You drive a hard bargain. But you have a deal. I will send some orcs to take the trunks away, and rafts will bear the metals to you.

Snaga do you trade Metal
Because Rohan would like some.
Snaga
05-24-2002, 02:02 PM
Yes many metals are to be found in the Grey Mountains. Though not mithril, which is only to be found in Moria.
What did you wish for, and what have you to trade?
Eomer Dinmention
05-24-2002, 02:19 PM
We need alot of iron.
But Rohan does not have much to offer but some calvary. But not too much we need them.
Snaga
05-24-2002, 03:19 PM
I assume that you mean horses, rather than riders as well.
That would be possible. The Grey Mountains do not use horses for riding on, but my friends in Mornclaur will gladly take some of your fine steeds. Especially the black ones.
I have a debt to pay to Dengen for his troops have been training my armies, so this deal will square things up.
I propose this:
I will send you 6,000 pounds of iron in exchange for 200 black horses, which you can send across the Anduin at the new bridge to the north of your land. I will send boats with the metal down the Anduin to you.
Eomer Dinmention
05-25-2002, 03:38 PM
Deal. Though I'm not sure if we have that many, black horses, but i will gather all i can and tell you.
Eomer Dinmention
05-26-2002, 06:20 AM
OK we have around 180 - 195 black horses is that enough?
Sorry for my late post. I didn't discover this thread till recently.
I, Queen Mirina, ruler of the country of Lothorien, claims the throne for myself, and my kin.
I have many trees availible. Their use better for finery than construction and building purposes.

King Eomer, I am afraid my supplies of iron are low at the moment. Demand is strangely high. I do not reject your offer, but can we delay the trade for a little while, while we mine the necessary metal for you.
Thanks
Eomer Dinmention
06-05-2002, 01:12 PM
OK that is ok with me
But i ask you, what other metal is very good for armoury and weapon. THere is talk about a war going on, and I wan't my men ready for it
Snaga
06-05-2002, 05:52 PM
Well you can alloy iron to make steel. This we can do. Steels vary in type between those that are hard, but not pliable, to those which have more flexibility but are slightly less tough. An arrow head you might only use once, so a tough steel is good. But a sword must not snap if the sword stroke is turned, so you cannot use the toughest steel. A sword needs just a little flexibility. Most weapons need that.
Other metals tend to be rarer, and therefore more expensive. And most noble metals, like gold, silver or copper are quite soft and so are less useful for weapons.
Of course mithril is a possibility, but there is so little of it, and the price is too high except for very special pieces: for kings and such. There is not enough in middle earth for an entire army.
Eomer Dinmention
06-06-2002, 11:01 AM
Hmm Mithril is not what i want. I don't think that I have the money to buy all of Mithril in ME.
But we will wait for the Iron until it arrives, if that is ok with you Snaga. And we can send your black horses now if you want
Snaga
06-18-2002, 12:26 AM
OK we have mined some more iron King Eomer. I am sending it down the Great River on barges, and I will let you know when it is nearby.
