I can't belive what I heard today. I was sitting in a restaurant when I heard two guys talking about LOTR. The conversation went somethig like this:

- Yeah, I saw it, but I think there's just too much money involved.

- Yeah, I know what you mean. They have all sorts of stuff based on that movie. I even heard the book went out already.

I couldn't belive what I heard.

:D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D

There's six books man! And you have to, like, read them one after the other! IN THE RIGHT ORDER!
Did those guys realise that the movies prequel rights were already in the hands of another guy? In fact it was written, like, before the other one.

Whoa! You mean you gotta READ them? The whole reason I went to see this movie instead of "The Brotherhood of the Wolf" was because it wasn't sub-titled!! Now you tell me that they already got someone to write a book of the movie and that they have the books for the other two movies too...that's freaky! I mean, how do they expect to make any money on the books when we could just wait to see the movies?:p

Yes, well, I live in Croatia, and we have a VERY idiotic educational system, which doesn't even mention the greatest author that ever lived.

Oh, and don't think Croatians don't know about Tolkien. This was just an exeption. Infact, from what I know I can safely say that my country is one of the most Tolkienist countries in the world.

You guys are so funny!

Seriously though...that is really disturbing to hear that someone can be that ignorant.

Oh and SSgrif, I wouldn't criticize Jim Henson's "Muppets" if I were you...they would be a lot smarter than those guys any day.

I found it dead annoying when I went to see LOTR at the cinema, and after it finished, the people in the row behind were going "Is that it? That's not much of an ending. That was rubbish..." and so on. It was so annoying because it was obvious they'd never read the books, and thought that that was the end of LOTR.

Bruce Valanche said that the movie didn't have an ending either. Well, DUH! It's a series. He said he liked the movie, but the ending was sudden. How else could it be? I mean, you can't really make the ending more ending-ish. I was just frustrated with him for that. Read the books, Brucey.

That pretty much what happened every time I went to se FotR in theaters! There was ALWAYS someone behind or in front of me and at the end they'd go, "What? That's the end? They can't just end a movie like that! What a gay movie!" And every time I'm torn between strangling them while yelling that it's a trilogy and laughing my but off.

I hear someone who had been in a restaurant where two other people were dicussing LOTR, and she heard them say: 'What, it's not real? How can they make a film about something that hasn't really happened? That is almost as bad as making up a book!' or something like that. Like all books and films have to be real!!!!

Trust me, these kind of moments happen more frequently as we spiral down into decrepit old age. And they soon go from really amusing to very depressing.

Take this one of my own experience........

Overheard conversation between two younger people some years back..... "I didn't know Paul Macartney was in a band before Wings"

When I related this amusing anecdote to a (younger) friend, I got the answer.... "Who's Paul Macartney?"

I went home, had a spoonful of Geritol, made a nice cup of camomile tea and went to sleep in my rocking chair.........

My dad knows someone who saw wings' firstgig apparently they just went up to the barman and said we've got this band do you mind if we play and that was it, they got to see Sir Paul that night. cool.
