:mad: Grr.. Every1 gets mad when u tell them yor reading the 2 towers cuz they think that u r reading a book about The world trade centers. god.

I have the opposite problem,people tell me they are reading the Two Towers (you know the WTC) and I assume that they are reading LoTR:D

Next time they mistaken Tolkien's work (TT) with modern day disasters... just hit them upside the head with the book. Then maybe they'll understand :D

No offense, guys, but you should really continue this thread in "Stuff and Bother" or some other place....This is a movie/compare to book forum and the name of this thread is "Non-Tolkien readers....grrr".
It makes the moderators' jobs easier if they don't have to wade through threads that go way off topic....

You know what REALLY ****es me off? These idiots who started an online petition for PJ to change the name from 'The Two Towers' to something else because they're convinced it's referring to the WTC attacks. It even got on Fox News Channel and MSNBC

I think that TT will top FOTR in the box-office because now everyone that just discovered this new world of Tolkien in the theatres, are going to want to see the next one. I have plenty of friends that gave me **** for loving the books so much, and then after the movie the were like OH THAT'S SO COOL! And even though some, not all of them ,are reading the books now, they all are going to see the next ones... so i think the immediate reaction-the sales of the first week-will be greater than the numbers of FOTR
If they were going to change the name, what would it be changed to??? It wouldn't make sense :mad: Plus, everyone knows it's the second installment, it's not FOTR wasn't all over TV, and they'll always be mentioning that it's for the LOTR so WHY, WHY change!!!!:(

They won't be changing the name. They already have started promoting it as "The Two Towers" and they know that they would be shooting themselves in the foot if they lost the name recognition.

The funny thing is...I rented the LotR FotR DVD (I'm waiting for the extended version, and if I had the money I'd buy both), and whenever I see Saruman, I think "Count Dooku!" and it totally ruins the effect. Oh well, both LotR and Star Wars are awesome! (considering I've seen LotR FotR four times in two days...O.o)

Since this thread is about 'ignorant non-readers' I thought we should get back to that. It irks me when people jump into threads with questions that are easily answered if they just read the books. What is so hard about that? Even if they're dyslexic there's the unabridged 'recorded books' editions (which I also listen to, besides reading the books over and over).
