RP 37: The Stones of Purple Fire, Everquest of the Wanderers

common sense is all well and good but such statements make me start to wonder. and i'm sure that i couldn't take that whole band by myself in my condition but that doesn't mean that we couldn't keep going. however if the rest of the group decides to stay i will go along with it, however i still think that it is a little to convenient that you are here at the exact same time that the orcs attack and that you know where they are. i hope that i'm wrong about this but it seems a little to perfect for me.

so there's one solution. we'll stay here, and wait until the moring, but we will have a sentry and keep your weapons close at hand. Hirila is right, i was pushing things in saying we should go, but we shouldnt be ready to believe there is no danger in the future.

[Hirila]

"I think in order to assure Korhall that I'm not in league with our enemies I have to tell you some things. But please, you have to believe me that I never meant and never will mean anyone of you or other people any harm.
See, when I tried to find you after you had left me alone I met Shorkan. I have already told you this part. What I have left out, because I thought you need not know it was, that I am a friend of one tribe of orcs. It was a long time ago that I had rescued an orc-kid from some wolves.
Since then I have often visited them and met them in all parts of ME. It is a loose tribe of families who wish to end all the wars between the orcs and the other people of ME.

Shorkan was one of them. I didn't know him but he knew me and told me so. He had joined the group of orcs he was with in order to prevent them from attacking us. Unhappily he didn't succeed. But it was him who told me of this last attack on you. It was planned since the day we left the inn. We rather talked too much and too loud about our plans, I think. The orcs had always thought of capturing us and make us tell them all we knew.

Well, and then Shorkan and me heard the cries and the sound of fighting and we rushed here to have our share. That was pure luck. You have to believe me.
That's it."

i understand, i'm sorry i accused you, but where i come from it is our right and our duty to voice any concerns or oppinions we have. i do however see the full matter now and i am content to follow the group for now. i'll take the first watch.

i'll take second, i should be okay by then. *Goldberry takes out her sleeping roll and cookings stuff, starts a fire and cooks some stew with dried meet she's been saving*

"Pleasant dreams to you. Personally I need this rest very much. Korhall, please wake me up for the second watch. I will then wake one of the others. Let's hope Chrys, Lilly and the rest come back rather sooner than later. Good night friends."

With this Hirila sinks in deep sleep.

korhall lights a tiny fire to keep warm by and sits quietly in a semi-meditative state. he uses the clam to allow him to listen. he knows that in the dark he will more likely hear someone comming rather than see them.

*goldberry eases into her bedroll and soon falls asleep*

after a while korhall hears a russel in the leaves. he is up and ready for trouble in an instant. who goes there he calls, his staff shining like a beacon in the night illuminating the immediate surroundings. then a figure can be madeout at the edge of the light.

[chrysophalax]

Chrysophalax raises her head above the bushes. "Greetings, Korhall! I've been off tending to Dragonish matters and now I'm back. My apologies for abandoning you so suddenly!" The green Dragon eased out from under the foliage and sat down coiling her tail around herself.

Goldberry is startled out of her sleep by Kor's cry. "what is it? is someone there??" goldberry grops for her sword, but finds that it is missing, and she grabs her bow instead.

[chrysophalax]

The Dragon snorts derisively. "It's only me, Goldie!"

*goldie grins* its good to see you again!

[chrysophalax]

*presents ears to be scratched* "Thank you,my dear!"

[Goldberry344]

Goldie obediantly scratches behind chrys's ears. "where've you been?"

[chrysophalax]

"Off attending to Dragonish matters. I've heard that you've accomplished many things in my absence. Hopefully I'll not have to leave you again."

its somewhat comfortingto have a dragon among us....:D

*rrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr* Dragon version of purring...

[Hirila]

Hirila turns from one side to the other. There is no sign she will wake up before the morning comes. Chrys has arrved? She is asleep. Until...
"Who...what...where...when... What the h...was that sound? As far as I know we should be save here from any attacks by orcs."
Looking around she sees Chrys.
"That was a dragon purring? Good God, Chrys, you scared the hell out of me! Never do that again when I'm asleep.:D But I'm glad you're back."

welcome back my friend, i must really be getting old to miss a dragon walking up on me. you didn't bring any friends with you, did you?

[chrysophalax]

"Nay, good Korhall. Those of my race are few and far between. I am one of the handful that still survive." Chrys walks over to Hirila and presents her ears to be scratched.

Goldie stands up, streaches and yawns. Dawn is beginning to break, casting eerie shadows over the forest. "Do you think we should eat and set off, or rest a bit more?"

[chrysophalax]

"As soon as eveyone is ready, I say let us be off!"

[Goldberry344]

Chrys, foooooddd! not your type of food, but i could do with a few pancakes...or tomatos.... ;)

[chrysophalax]

"Fret not! I'll return momentarily!" A mischievious light in her eyes, the dragon flew off toward the nearest village.

Shortly she returned, bearing two baskets in her claws. They were filled with fruit of all kinds. "Here. Can you eat this? It was all I could find."

[Hirila]

"Chrys, you're the best dragon I ever knew. Not that I kno so many. In fact you're the only one. Come here, let me scratch your ears. Oh, when did you wash your ears the last time? :D A hundred years ago?"

Everybody laughs out loud. Only Chrys looks a bit slighted.

"Now, Chrys, don't take this seriously. Thank you very much for this fruit. I don't know how we survived the last days without you. Now I feel fresh and rested. What about taking action after breakfast. Let us hunt..."
"..some orc!" The rest of the party finishes her sentence laughing.

[chrysophalax]

Chrys bares her fangs at the thought of an orc hunt, causing a couple among the group to step back a pace or two. A Dragon's smile of anticipation can be daunting!

korhall sprouts fangs and growls an evil growl of anticipation. he is ready to kill something. pheonix, knowing that sound tries to keep him under control after what happened last time the bloodwrath came over him. with fangs gleaming and a howl korhall i ready to kill any threat. i think that the dragon has it right. bring on the pain

Chrys, having never seen a bloodwraith before, lays her ears back and snarls viciously.

i meant blood wrath, a surge of fury so extreme that all you can think about is destroying your enemy. even if they have thousands of warriors at their backs, you will fight on with no hede to pain, fatigue, or who you must kill. you live to kill. you are a wild creature but you fight with the precision and skill and strength of fury and hatered. but you also have intelegence to tell you how to kill and where the enemy is.

i am actually feeling alot like that right not because i am having the day from hell, i am so close to beating the living $#!t out of this guy who is cracking on me and my family, a very, very sensitive situation at this time in my life, i am so close to being very violent that i have to struggle to keep myself in check.

Chrys nods in empathy. "Shall I lightly toast him or reduce him to a pile of smouldering ash for you?" *grins toothily*

"Hey guys, am I the only pacifist here? :D Stop that silly talk about ashing people. At least as long as we're alone and no enemy in sight. We start it again then. But what are we to do now? Follow the track of the orcs or do something else.
I mean, we have our dragon back - Hirila gives Chrys a pat on the back, no reaction, Hirila starts beating harder until Chrys notices and starts purring again - we could try and perhaps find another way to get them.
By the way, we should be careful. Don't some of them have the control-over-metal-stone? Let's hope this is the last one we find with orcs . Why oh why can't the stones only be buried in some place peacefully!"

chrys, i prefer to kill and ash (yes i can do that) my own enemies. but thanks for the offer. i prefer the old: i kill my enemies in the most painful ways possible, then i bring them back to life and kill them again. i didn't get as wise as i am now by letting my friends kill all me enemies. not to mention it is good exercise, along with ridding the world of evil, i also get out my boundless rage.

i also grow fangs, claws and i look quite evil. the fangs and claws come from a mistake in a spell i was casting, instead of creating a wolf spirit i bound it to my own soul. it is a part of me and it kinda takes over when i get really mad.

Goldie flicks her hair to the side and marches down the path with her horse following her.

The party follows Goldberry:
Korhall and Gemini hand in hand, Hirila on her horse, Chrys first stamps in behind but then prefers flying. The path Goldberry is leading them is too narrow for a dragon.

"Goldie! Should I be looking for anything in particular? A landmark or something?" Chrys flew slightly ahead of the party, keeping an eye open for potential enemies.

ya, orcs and valuabe rocks....and other such oddimnets....

or a single blue tower, that is a library that i know of, it might have some information we could use

"Blue tower, got it!" Chrys wings away from the group heading East.

"What library? Never heard of someone living out here. Must be a strange guy."

Goldie grins at Hirila... "a WALKING library, of course! you are silly!"

strange, yes. he is strange but very wise and intelegent. there is meathod to his madness. just a word of warning no sudden movements untill introduce you and what ever you do don't go looking around where you aren't supposed to be. there are some unique ways of dieing in there.

Lilly walks back in the morning and asks when breakfast is.

(she had been on a wee quest of her own, trying to figure out what the meaning of their quest is. True enough they knew what it was they were suposed to find but did they know why?)

"Well, to tell the truth I don't know either why we are here. Okay, we are looking for the Stones of Purple Fire. But why? Dunno. Perhaps kor's blue-walking-library-guy can tell us.

By the way, has anyone seen Chrys? It's now quite some time she flew away."

first or second breakfast? either one is yummy

"My dear Lilly! You have nerves! Doesn't let herself be seen for some days then comes back and asks for breakfast! Ts ts ts. :rolleyes:

But you have missed first breakfast, Chrys is back, too, and has brought us lovely fruit. Here, there's some left... catch 'em"

Hirila throws some apples, strawberries and nuts in Lilly's direction.

Into the midst of first breakfast Chrys alights bearing the remains of a small sheep. She notices the suddenly pale faces that look at her, appalled, and shrugs, tossing the carcass into the bushes.

"Korhall, I have found your blue tower. It lies to the South several miles. I can carry one of you if you wish. Will we leave soon?"

hmm, if you can only carry one of us, you should take Kor, he knows the guy in the blue library.

sounds like we may have a new ally, we will definitkly need to keeop an open eye out because I have discoved some things about what we are actually doing here! but I need to check on some things first and then I will be ready to annouce what we are doing and why.

great work! if you wish i will go to the tower of the MEADE (his name is the meade). let me go in first, if you see a red fireball that means run for it, if you see a blue one that means come in slowly. chrys lets go see the meade. and let me do the talking first, he is dangerous when he is scared, i'l introduce you and then we will go from there.

Korhall leapt astride Chrys and she launched into the air, winging away toward the tower. Below the forest seemed peaceful enough, but they both knew how decptive that could be...
Shortly, the tower came into view and Chrys looked for a discreet place to land so as not to announce their arrival too soon.

[Hirila]

In the meanwhile Goldie, Lilly, Gemini and Hirila walked on until they came to a hill that offered sight over the tops of the trees. There they halted and made ready for some time of camping. Far away in the direction where Chrys and Kor flew they could see a tower erect against the horizon. Which colour it was none could see. The girls agreed to stay there until they would see a fireball.
Hirila took the first watch as it already was near nightfall.

[korhall]

korhall, scratches chrys's ears and says, thanks, tell they group to wait untill they get my signal, and if i don't come back for any reason, tell pheonix i love her, and keep an eye one her untill i get back.

korhall then walks throught the brush, and quickly runs into a few friends. he then is escorted to the tower and rings the bell. the door is answered by a very large grey wolf, who seeing korhall drops into an agressive stance. korhall glad that the guys aren't there and quickly brings forth his wolfish side. he growls for a second before the other wolf snifs the air, and a look af realization comes over him. he quickly stands up and says, sorry master korhall, didn't recognise you, you know how it is these days, can't be to careful. korhall rises and his hair goes back down, the fangs stay, he says, thats perfectly fine fangor, i didn't recognise you either, how have you been?

after a little chatting fangor leads korhall into a library where the meade is working.

korhall, knowing from experience to duck when greeting the great meade says hello meade.

immediatly the man startles and punches in the air, from his fist comes what looks like a wolf being shot like an arrow. korhall then emits a low growl, the meade's ears perk up and then he says " i know that growl...korhall you old dog, how are you?"

after shaking hands and pleasentries the meade asks korhall why he is here " why have you returned to my den korhall? i thought that after your accident here you would not return."

korhall: well after that episode with the wolf spirit i was uncertain but i need your help. (for those who don't know, it was here that i had my misshap with the wolf spirit, bonding it with my own. i learned alot of wolf magic here. this entire tower is dedicated to, a haven for and filled with the likenesses of wolfs. the meade is a wolf-wizard.

korhall: i and some friends are on a quest looking for some very rare stones, i was hoping i could use your library to help search for clues to their where abouts.

Meade: well my young pup, first things first, who and what are these friends of yours?

korhall: i wish you wouldn't call me that i'm 2500 years old, i'm not a pup. but anyway they are good creatures all. in the company there is a dragon, a shapeshifter and some other mortals from very distinguished families. they mean no harm to the tower or the packs. my wife is among them. they have been warned about what to do and not to do in the tower."

meade: your wife, so you finally settled down. well bring them in, but before you do, what have you told them?

korhall: i have not told them what secrets truely lie here nor any more than they needed to know about you or the beast within me. they know little about me but be cautious, they have a way of getting into trouble.

meade: very well korhall. bring them in, i'll keep my "pets" away from them while they come. the north rooms are yours, but the dragon will have to sleep outside, you will see to it that no harm comes to it i'm sure. when you are refreshed, bring them to the hall of the wolfs for a dinner, and explein to them our customs.

Goldie slouches on her horse, waiting for the signal. "Why do the guys get to do all the fun stuff?"

[korhall]

korhall shoots a huge blue ball of fire in the shape of a wolf's head out an open window.

[Goldberry344]

Goldie sits up, grins and points to the fireball. "LETS GO!!!" she cries, and nudges Wings into a fast canter, the rest behind her.

[chrysophalax]

Chrys perked her ears up and headed for the tower. "Protect Phoenix, huh! I never had time to even get back to her! Korhall may have need of me though."

[Hirila]

Hirila and Phoenix look at each other. Then Hirila says "Wel, we should go after Goldie before she comes into trouble with her pace!"

And the two rapidly gallop after Goldie with Lilly following them.
And really not long afterwards they hear Goldie scream like in terror. As they hasten into a clearing they see Goldie once more fallen off her horse. Some strange wolf-like creatures are bending down on her.
Hirila takes her bow and shoots some arrows at them. Goldie obviously is being attacked! But the arrows fall to the ground without hitting the wolves, as is some kind of magic turned them away. Now the wolves turn upon Hirila and the others. They growl and lick their fangs as they come near.
The odour of fight is in the air.

"Stop it! What are you doing there! These are my friends and my wife!"
Korhall and another person step into the clearing.

"Then why did this she-elf attack my wolves?" the person asks

"I thought they were attcking her" Hirila points at Goldie

"But no," Goldie says "I only didn't see that branch over there and it knocked me off Wing. The wolves came to help me!"

"Oh my God, then I have to apologise, I really didn't want to do any harm to anyone. I only wanted to rescue my friend!"

The meade, for no other person is it, answers "Then it is okay. You are real friends. Wolves protect there friends, too. You may come with me to the library and have something to eat.
And you wouldn't have had a chance against my wolves. They are too strong and possess strong magic."

The party follows the meade into the direction where he came from...

Goldie massages a bump on her head, thanks the wolves and her friends, and follows the others.

[korhall]

korhall sys, guys i'm afraid he's right in this. none of you would be able to take on more than one of these creatures alone. heck i can only handel two and i know them. but enough about that we have come to look in the library and our gracious host has allowed us to do do. let us get to our work.

then korhall turns, closes his eyes, points an open hand at the wolfs and mutters. they nod their heads and leave for now.

[korhall]

the adventurers then walk to the tower without incident korhall and meade walk slightly ahead and speak in hushed tones. upon entering the tower all those who had not lived there are awed by the savage beauty and the intricacy of the tower. meade then makes some wolfish noises at korhall and korhall then says:

my friends welcome to the fang. it is our custom that the host not do the introductions as it makes them seem to be braging. but i will tell you what you need to know. this tower is inhabited by wolfs, but not the ordinary wolfs that roam the countrysides in packs, oh no. these wolfs are as intelegent and as capable as you or i. unfortunatly their anatomy does not allow them to speak our languages or for us to speak theirs with anything close to recognisable accuracy. that is why the wolfs made these,*korhall holds up medalians thet look like blue scarabs on strings*. these are translators from wolfish to any of our languagesand back, it will allow you to talk to anyone here. the wolfs have been gracious enough to give each of you a guide and an aid for the time you are in the tower. you will meet them at dinner. also a word of warning, wolfs don't take insults well, don't kid them untill you get to know them, that is the safest way. they will be totally open with you, you should be so open with them. if you need help with anything i'll be around checking on your progress, working with the meade or doing other stuff. these scarabs will also let you summon anyone of us. just tap it twice and speak their name. any other questions, just ask. i'll fill you in on anything else you need to know as we go aloong. but for now to dinner.

*goldie yawns and massages her head* "begging your pardon, sir, but do you have baths and beds? i dont mean to be rude, but all i could stand for now is a warm tub and a nap." *Goldie grins* "and what about our horses? they arent used to being handeled by wolfs, no offense."

[chrysophalax]

Chrys having been left on guard outside the tower, flies to one of the top parapets and curls up, settling in for the night......

[korhall]

the horses will be fine, there are stables around back, the horses know what to do. the tubs and a nap idea is a good one. i'll ask about it < turns and makes what sounds like barking, yipping and growling all at once> the meade then responds in like fassion. (one thing that i should mention, the meade can't speak our languages very well so he speaks wolfish, he and i have the fangs, and other wolfish things that allow us to speak it properly, if you wish to ask him anything i'll be happy to translate.)

it appears that hot baths can be arranged, but now that i think about it i don't think that you guys would be happy sleeping on the beds that we have here. they are not very comfortable to our kind, so... i'll have to either change the beds to suit you or change you to suit the beds, your call.

and i hope you guys like red meat, its normally raw but we can have it cooked. we don't eat that much other than meat here, but we do have lots of good wolfish ale (we wolfs love to drink) i think that we still have some fruit left if you want to eat that aswell (trust me refusing the meat of a wolflord, namely the meade, is not a good idea. you had better have a very good reason for it if you do. i think that i can arrange for something to be sent up to chrys or i could shrink her to fit in here if she wants me to...i'll leave it up to her.

[arisen pheonix]

geminii turns into a large white wolf raises her head and howls a large black wolf comes out off the shadows 'she wolf, to the blue tower' she growleed and loped off in that direction as fast as possible

A wolf appears on the side of each standing there. They are also carrying blue scarabs. So now the party can understand what they say though their words still sound like growls.

"Come with us, we will lead you to a place where you can refresh yourself."

"We thank you very much, oh meade. We hope we are no burden to you or your wolves."

Then the women leave with their guides to a sort of bathroom where there already stand tubs with hot water.

"Let's hope you don't smell like orc after your bath! We don't like the smell of orcs in here." One of the wolves growls.

"Hey, wolf, we fought the orcs if you mean that! We don't have parties with them!" Goldie replies

"Anyway, this one smells like an orc-friend. We don't like orc-friends here around." pointing at Hirila

"I do count orcs among my friends. You should know that. And I have orcish talismans. But if I were you I wouldn't talk such rubbish. We are here to get help in our quest. Not to disturb the peace of this... wolf -place."

"Then you'd rather be quiet yourself, she-elf.We will have an eye on you." Said the wolf leaving Goldie, Lilly and Hirila alone.

"Was that necessary? Hirila?" Lilly asked "I would like to leave this place alive and in one piece. Not in a wolf's stomach!"

"I'm sorry. Normally I like wolves (as long as they don't attack me). But I can't stand it when everyone talks bad about orcs. I do have friends among them. *sigh* Come on girls let's bury the hatchet and take a bath. The sooner we're finished with this, the sooner we get our meat. Rrrraw meat!" :D

Laughing the women get into their tubs.

Goldie relaxes into her bath. "Defintately bury the hatchet...These are great baths.... warmness...." *Goldie falls asleep*

seperate from the girls and the wolfs, korhall and meade talk. then a she wolf comes in and wispers in meades ear.

meade: we have a problem old friend

korhall: what is that wolf lord?

meade: i am told that one of your friends is an orc lover.

korhall: you mean hirila, she does have connection with some orcs but i can assure you that she means no harm to you. if you wish i will ensure that she doesn't do anything to bring the orcs here. i will place a riing around the tower that will render it invisible to orcs, and not allow them to locate it, i hope. remember my magic is not as strong or as reliable in these walls. as we have already discovered. do you want to take your own meathods?

meade: for safety sake i'll take care of the protection.

[arisen pheonix]

geminii wondered wether or not she was dreaming things had gotten stranger and stranger it had to be a dream a shifter vison perhaps but this was not reality she had no doubt that she was moving going somewhere with she wolf but she couldnt remember where she wolf would get here there quick enough then someone would wake her up so she could escape this dream before it got worse

korhall gets a sudden feeling from his wedding ring, pheonix is near. he then asks meade to have her brought to where they are. meade nods closes his eyes and mutters in wolfish. after a few minutes pheonix walks into the chamber guided by a she wolf. korhall rises and he and pheonix embrace and kiss for a moment. i think that woke pheonix up from her dream. then korhall remembers meade is there and says, forgive me wolf lord, allow me to introduce my wife arisen pheonix. meade bows and says "welcome my dear so you are the one who married this young pup."

pheonix: "yes i did marry this wonderful man"

meade: well it is time to go to dinner. come my friends it is time to eat. meade leads them into a great hall. he then says, korhall summon the others if you would. korhall then says into his scarab " hirila, chrys, goldie i hate to interupt your rest but it is time to eat. if you would all come to the great hall you will find meade, pheonix and myself here.

[chrysophalax]

Chrysophalax rises , stretching her claws and wings sleepily, then launched herself from the topmost tower. The thoughts of food caused her stomach to growl loudly and she wondered if the people who dwelt here were used to feeding a Dragon...

[Hirila]

In the great hall the wolves obviously had thought there were at least three dragons coming to dinner! Loads and loads of meat lay on huge trays. There were big plates for the wolves set on low tables and one of normal size was set up at the window for the guests.
The travellers sat down with their host. There was a platform outside the window where Chrys took place and had her share of the meal brought out to her.

korhall says to everyone: i hope you all are enjoying your meals. i was told that now is the time to introduce yourselfs to the great wolf, wolf lord both titles are correct, which ever you prefer. tell the meade, your name, where you are from and a few things about yourselfs. once that is done then we have some entertainment, i don't think that you are going to forget...we have a few dinner customs that you should know: silverware - bad, teeth- good. vegies- bad, meat- good. random flying food- good, random flying food that hits the wolf lord- very bad. there are also a few other things that you will see later in the evening...


and wolfs always plan for double the ammount of people, for in this culture one of the worst things is to have happen is to run out of food.

I'd trust her with my life, my horses life (and yes that means a lot) and my friend's lives. that is if she were willing to take on such an unneeded burden...." Goldie trails off, getting an unwelcome feeling that the wolves are laughing at her.

i hate ti break this to you hirila, but wolfs aren't that formal. we take a laid back, easy going way to life. we don't bother with formalities. we are all friends, and in battle we are brothers. we think that rank and file stuff is not fitting, nor is the ramrod on the back stiffness of the common army such a show of dicipline. they are chuckleing at you but if you loosen up they will be fine. don't worry about it, they mean it kindly and with no ill intentions, they won't hold it against you.

After Korhall's last words the wanderers, their host and all the wolves start eating again. (Except for those wolves who hadn't let themselves disturbed by the word exchange.

And it really is a great meal. Though most of the meat is uncooked it tastes good and soon the more human beings have eaten enough to last at least two weeks. *burp* (oops) The wolves keep eating. Amazing, this wolfing! :) Then the meade gets up and says: ...

GEMINII inclines her head in the traditional shifter acknoledgement of a host or dominant "wolf lord" she continues with the story she usally tells anyone who bothers to ask, she was a half blood herself as a shifter had the will and capability to kill as it needed likewise her human blood had the companionship and love it needed so she though a mistake was content to live her words are hollowed by her minds determination to gleen the useful information out of the nightmare she shuddered invoulentarily and lost what little appitite she had she looked at kor telling herself he was all right it was only a dream after all there were no marks other than the healing battle wounds but of course you couldnt see sarin wounds she shuddered again and to take her mind off it she concentrated on the ever constant feeling of blood lust to keep her thoughts from wandering

the meade stands up and says that it is now time for the entertainment. (those with heart conditions please leave the room). the way that wolfs entertain themselfs is one of three ways, drinking (contest or otherwise), eating, (again contests are common) or fighting. since the first two are already done the third comes to mind. then korhall stands and gives a knowing look to the meade. he then walks out into the central area and starts stretching, the great wolf then says to pheonix, don't worry this will be quick. he then howls and a wolf walks over to the meade with a flaming sword and a blindfold, another wolf simmilerly burdened walks over to korhall. the wolf lord's attendant then makes the announcement. in a haistily stated speach only part of the announcement could be understood, "...to the death... these are friends...blood." then korhall and meade both blindfolded and armed with flaming swords lunge at each other and meet in a melee so fast and furious that they are difficult to follow with the human eye. this melee goes on for a time and it appears that the two are evenly matched.

Goldie watches this fight, amazed and worried. She leans over twords Hirila and whispers, "I had no clue that wolves entertained themselves like this!"

geminii watches the fight with intrest and concern remaning outwardly unmoved from forcing herself to become a vampire to think coherently for a few minutes so she could puzzle out the dream with out freaking herself out

Hirila whispers back: "I've always thought wolves were a bit more of the friendly side. Not that they are not hospitable, no, they really care for their guests, but... well, I thought they at least knew how to dance or something like that. But I think we will have to wait for spring and then watch them come out of their holes (or libraries) and enjoy spring and its new sun. *shrug*"

The battle between the meade and korhall becomes more furious. It seems as if the meade really made out for Kor's life. But then his opponent turns the tables for some minutes until the meade gets stronger again. They circle each other and fight like hell.
It goes on that way for some time when Goldie suddenly whispers to Hirila and Gemini "Don't you think it looks like theatre? As if it were all an arranged spectacle?" And really, the fighters never touch the other but pull away their weapon in the very last moment.
The girls can feel Gemini realx now her husband is in no danger of being hurt. And it IS a great show the meade and Korhall are giving them. On closer inspection it almost looks like ballet though none of the wolves would like that comparison.

after a long time of fighting with unimaginable skill, the two end up with their blades at each other's throats and they both start bleeding a thin trickle at the same time. the "fight" is over. then the meade and korhall turn bow and go back to their seats. the meade says after a long time. i think that it is time we let our guests retire. tomorrow you start work in the libraries.

korhall then leans over to pheonix and says when we get back to the roomwe need to talk.

The wolves keep on eating, drinking and, yes indeed, singing in the hall.
But their guests are led to their rooms. One for Korhall and Gemini and one for the others. Where at least Hirila falls fast asleep after a tremendous yawn. Nothing will awaken her now for the next hours. Except dawn or the cruelty of her friends. :D ;)

meade: "korhall, you are slower today, you need to keep in practice. but for now go to your wife, she looked very distraught, i thought that my second told her that this was no fight to the death... any way. go to her my friend we will get to work in the morning.


korhall then walks into the room for him and pheonix. he walks up behind her and says " my angel, i have been having some very disturbing dreams recently. is everything alright? you seem troubled. when i am near you i sense something...distant...elusive...dangerous. is there anything i don't understand?"

why chrys, i didn't know you cared. but thanks for the sentiment. as for the hunting, you may want to make sure that you get some ground between you and the tower before you do any killing.

and for the record, the meade was after my head for a while there. he was testing me to make sure that we were worthy of the use of the library.

OOC : i'm not kidding i really do this for my friends and associates. one time a girl was in tears at the start and had a really sore neck (not why she was crying). she is at an acting camp that i am helping at and she missed an entrance. i had to give her a back rub and a consoling talk for over an hour.

yeah mabe a book. wait the book! what did i do with it?" she grabbed her pack and rumagged for the book she found it quickly she was too tired to puzzle through it at the moment but glad she had found it this book would make things easier or so she thought she put the book back in her bag and with a last look at the storm flopped down on the bed mabe things would work out after all

Early in the morning they woke up by the singing of the birds outside the blue library. Being hungry they thanked Chrys a thousand times for bringing them another basket full of fruit. Meat is okay for dinner, but for breakfast? Nonetheless, Korhall ate another t-bone.
Then he lead them to the great libraray in the center of the tower for he knew where it was from his earlier stay here. It was a great library. Thousand of books and rolls lay in high shelves. In the middle of the room a spiral staircase led upstairs to 12 more floors until it reached the utmost top of the tower where a ceiling of glass let in daylight. They stood and gazed around for a while. Then Korhall directed each of them to another floor. And they began looking through the books, looking for notes of the Stones of Purple Fire.

after a few hours with even fewer leads the meade comes into the library to check on their progress. he gives some advice to hirila and then mentions a basement level that they haven't checked out (bad library pun). he then offers to take hirila on a personal tour. the question is will she go with the great wolf?

[Hirila]

It takes Hirila a few moments to consider this invitation. Her natural disliking of these strange creatures almost prevents her going with the meade. And after all it them who declared her under supervision for her time here. Her smelling of orcs! Phht. What are they thinking? She won't blow the library up! *offended, arrogant snort* *sigh*

But she could forgive them almost everything for this absolutely wonderful library. There were so many books. While looking through some of the shelves she had even seen the complete works of Hobbit literature. It took them four shelves of 6 m length and 4 m height. Fantastic!
And now being offered a personal tour through the library by the keeper. No question, she will go. Although there is this little itching in her neck. The meade doesn't do this just for friendliness. There is something else he wants to talk about...

But the meade and Hirila leave the others and go upstairs to the upper levels of the library while the others keep on looking htrough the millions of books. Every quarter of an hour a shadow falls through the light in the roof, Chrys is peeping in to look what they are doing. It seems she wants them to hurry up. It can't take them so long to find something! It can Chrys, it can.

hirila, the wolfs were merely ensuring that there was no threat to the tower or to the area surounding it. they are very teritorial. and as protective as chyrs when she thinks we are in danger.

i think that the tremendous extent of the library leads will allow us to find a map or something else with a hint of locations or some names.

geminii paused momentarily and rubbed her eyes the little table she had chosen was about ready to colapse she was looking through a book by a traveling writer she turnded the pages one page two she was getting no where then suddenly a small envelope dropped out from inbetween the pages

korhall, then looks at the position of the sun a realizes that it is noon. he then looks up and notices the great wolf and hirila walking away together. noticing the great wolf's face and difference in the great wolf's scent korhall realizes that the great wolf istrying something he hasn't tried in a few centuries.

[Hirila]

Hirila and the Great Wolf walked throuh the rows of books. The Great Wolf told her about how he came to be the keeper of this library (which was pure chance) and how he made it even bigger as it was then by building the blue tower. They then changed topic and talked about literature. Hirila became quite excited when she found the complete works of Faramir, Son of Denethor. Poems, stories, some essays on warfare and the history of the armies of Middle-Earth. Fantastic!
Yes, the being beside her could be a nice and amusing guy. But what was he planning, why did he do this? The itching in her neck became more intense every minute. Some time or other he had to let the cat out of the bag. She would be careful in what she would say. But now they came to orcish literature. Not much, but the few works that existed are quite good. Orc-writers are said to be more peaceful than the average orc.

OOC: I imagine Orc literature and music similar to Klingon. :)

IC: the conversation then shifts to the history of the wolfs, the great wolf inparticular. the great wolf confides that there is a gap in his life, he has tried to fill it with food, drink, fighting (which we have all seen he is very good at) and with friends. but it has not helped to fill the void. he has not had a significant other in a long time, a few centuries to be exact...

Korhall and gemini here boots thumping in the library, soon a small dwarf all in black walks out with a big book. "I think you were looking for this." Nain plopped the book on the table and sat at a table near them reading a book on Necromancy.

"The men of my type know lots. We help.....or kill who we want. I am Nain Ironfoot the Necromancer, I come to help you on the quest for I belive i am intrested in the Stones as well. Now, what are we to do now that you have the book?"

hello nain, i'm sorry that we were'nt introduced earlier. i was not aware of another non-wolf in the tower. i must say that your presence both makes me happy and quite startled at the same time. it takes alot to get by chrys, who i'm certain has been watching this place for any intrusion. in fact you may be one of the first to do it. and even if you did, i personally thought i knew of everone in the tower. in fact i am certain i do. so the question remains sir, how are you in one of the most guarded of places in the fang? (in his mind, korhall was preparing his spells to take on this obviously compitent opponent, his presence shows his competence but for the honor of the wolfs either a darn good explanation or blood must be had.)

pheonix walks up and puts a hand on korhall's shoulder. she says " what my husband is trying to say is thank you for your help but we have not been introduced i am pheonix, this is korhall."

"Hush, children, hush," the meade hurries to reach them from where he has stuck his heads in some books with Hirila.
"What is this! Nain, what are you doing here! You were hired for a librarian to arrange this masses of books more clearly and you were supposed to stay in the basement. What is this talking of necromancy." And pointing with his finger at Nain: "If you have deceived me in this you won't leave this place in one piece. Necromancer or not. What is this talking about the Stones?"
He is now standing with his finger only inches from Nain's breast who has got up and is now standing with his back to a shelve. A cloud of anger can almost be seen hovering over his head.
Hirila comes up to them and lays her hand on the meades shoulder.
Gemini and korhall close the ring around Nain and Hirila says: "Now, this needs a pretty good answer. I sense danger from you and I can sense danger for you if I'm not very much mistaken."

"RRRRRRR, I heard that! He didn't get by me! He was already here....or something!"

Nain just smiled. "My buisness is of my own. And I really don't like people who crowd me." He said something and a zombie got up out of the ground and grabbed Hirila. "Now, I have no intent of fighting you, but if you do not except my help we will. And trust me there is much unknown to this place. It was quite easy to get in." "But HOW?" korhall asked. Nain walked to a bookshelf on the wall. He pulled a book and it swung open. He looked at their faces of awe and motioned for the zombie to let Hirila go. He sat back down and started reading again.

korhall looks at the the zombie, which then explodes. he then looks at the great wolf and can tell by the scent that the great wolf is very angry. both with his orders being disobeyed and for the assault on hirila. he is getting agitated and a little protective after the attack on hirila

korhall then laughs to himself, he then realizes what the great wolf has in store for one of his guests. he chuckles and wishes the great wolf the best of luck.

the growl thet escapes korhalls lips and the surging anger within him makes him want to tear nain limb from limb, that arrogance and superiority that nain took made korhall want to call him out for satisfaction

They might simply vanish forever into the Void above Arda. Or the world may explode. We do not know it. And as long as I neither know what he wants to do with his stone nor which one he wants I wouldn't trust him." And looking back over her shoulder at Nain Hirila adds: "And who says we need his help. We're not through a quarter of this library and I'm sure we will find a clue somewhere."



ooc: Could you please write in a more comprehensive style? Concerning who talks what when to whom. And in complete sentences. I have to admit that sometimes I have slight problems in understanding what you want to tell us, sorry.

Nain waits and raises 2 more zombies. He sends them toward the bookshelves. Each come back with a large book each. They walk over to the group and drop the books on top of the first. One zombie said "Lord Nain says these will help to." They walk back to Nain. Nain lines them up by book shelves. He takes out a few mini axes and takes some target practice. The group look at him in disgust. He turns and says "Don't worry, their blood doesn't stain." He turns back and starts throwing more.

Out of no where Lilly apears and asks how everyone is? then she gets back into her normal spot and congadulates herself on finding the company again.....though she wishes greatly that she had never gottten lost in the first place.......she thanks everyone for being the best group of ppl that there ever could be and quietly sits down to seee hwat happens next. She sees that there are a few new characters and does not wish to be rude and interupt a conversation, so just sits and stares at the new commers.. I wish I had not gotten lost!! Now I will have to get a summery of what has been happinging for the past month or soooooo.....o dear....:( she looks at anybody for a nice explanation but none are to be found.....:'( soooo she finds a nice tree to take a nap under, after all finding a group of ppl after a month of no see no hear from them makes anyone a little tired!!! she sees a lovle spruce tree with some soft grass beneath it and decides to wait for someone else to come. them surprise them with enthusiasm.!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

still sitting under the tree beging\s to count ppl, and discovers there are FAR TO MANY HERE!!!!! she wonders to her self, did they join us are tey friends or foe, should we kill them?? as lilly is a great friend or a mighty enemy, she sits with her sword drawn waiting for either someone to explain or someone to attack.. I feel soo very confused....to many ppl tooo many ppl......what are they who are they why are the here, what do they want, she sits and sits and sits and sits them relises that she has not had any food in a long time!!!!!! sooooo as she dwels on this new problem, she wishes that somone would come and explain what the other ppl are doing here!!! I refuse to make anyone breakfast until I know who and what the newbies are doing here!!! But if anyone askes I will probibally make it for them....she pulls out some flower a frying pan a few eggs some starch and some water and mixes the ingreadients. then pors three big splotches onto the pan and puts the pan over the fire and stats to hum to herself. she just loves cooking. when the first side was doen she flipped it over to cook the second side and starts a nother song. she loves songs as much s she likes to cook:) sooooooo as time went by she sits and sits and when the fsecond side was done she ate one of the panckakes and lets one fall into a cove where a squirl sat watching her. she desides to save the other one for later. Walks down to the brook and has a nice time cleaning up the mess she \made. the only bad part of cooking is the clean up...she grumbles to herself....well a song will help my mood. as she finnished cleaning up, she discovers that she left her sword by the tree and rushes over to get it, since there are new ppl around she does not trusst anyone.....save for old friends. she then puts her cooking tools away and sits under a tree to dwell on who the new ppl are, and what the want why they are here and so on. she eventually falls into an uneasy slumber, after what she had learned on her long absence and the new people here she could not find an easy sleep. though she reggreted taking french leave of her comrads twice, she felt that it was nessisary. what she discovered would be a great turn for the good and bad in here....but which would and could only be deturmined by the new ppl and her old friends...

There will be much I beleive I will have to do to help that's why if the stones don't explode or something I think I deserve one." Nain again bowed low and said "Nain Ironfoot at your service."

The meade nods. "Yes, this has changed everything. They have broken the ceasefire. They will pay for it. I will send some of my wolves with you. Korhall to you I give command over them. Gemini, you will look that Nain behaves well. Hirila... try to keep gemini and korhall from killing Nain if it isn't absolutely necessary. Nain: You will behave yourself and help the group. And no more claiming of stones."
With this he rushes out to get things prepared for their departure.

The groups stays in the library, looking at each other.

Meade: 446, i don't because i'm afraid of lossing her what if she doesn't like me? but now is not the time. you must go and avenge our fallen. find out why if you can. you need someone to help you. i have a friend, an elven archer... i'm sure that he would be willing to help.

(this archer is a new traveler if the group has no objections, she approached me earlier about this and i have been looking for a place to introduce her)
