Yesterday I talked to a friend of mine that works at a cinema, and he gave me a great idea. Where I live those who work at the cinema get free tickets to movies, or if there is a preview, witch is often is, they get to see the movie before everybody else.. :D I'm going to give them a call and ask them if they've got any part time jobs in the weekends.. :)

the clock on the web site is wrong for me..it says 6:18 but it is really 5:18..and there is no another ones in sydney australia...i think it is cause of day light savings...if u haven't heard of it don't worry..i think it only happens in australia..we all change our clocks forward on a date which is close to summer so when summer comes it is sunny at 7:00 at night..so people can come home after work and jump in the pool..and opposite in the coming of winter..

Wow! What a treat! An entire week of waiting just disappeared!

My best friend (who I'm still trying desperately to convince to read FOTR before the movie), called me last night to tell my she had just seen a LOTR trailer on TV. I think it was the one that premiered during Angel.

You want to know what she said after telling me she had seen it? She asked me who Liv Tyler was playing, and said that the preview was mostly about her. She said that Liv had a really fierce sounding line (she didn't specify, but I think she meant the, "If you want it, come and get him" line), and she looked really really good (she was very excited for me about the fact that it all looked very good). This tells me that the whole idea of using Liv and "warrior Arwen" to appeal to a wider audience is working..... I just thought it was interesting that the thing she was most excited about, was the one thing we the Tolkien fans are most annoyed about.

what you say makes good sense! It's all the simple appeal, and the funny part is it makes Arwen seem like a character with more depth than the usual tolkien reader perceives.

I personally percieve Arwen with an extraordinary amount of depth and strength as a character; however, it's not the kind being portrayed in the moive. Doing so cheapens her character and (IMO) achieves the exact opposite of what PJ intends.

That's the whole problem right there. It is a two edged sword. It may bring more people to read LoTR, And yet people may become enamored with PJ's version, not Tolkien's LoTR! If your friend reads the book, great. But it scares me that the first thing your friend had to say was how great PJ's Arwen/Liv Tyler looked. If they were true to the script and the preview showed Arwen sitting pretty in Rivendell where she belongs, your friend might have thought differently.

Just a warning, it's really horrible! If you want to see how badly Arwens character has been slaughtered then watch it. The preview actually says, "Her courage will save him." Wow, I'm still excited about the movie, but that was REALLY sad.

O my God! That was really bad... i was beginning to tolerate a bit of an expaned role for Arwen but that is crazy! what is going to happen to Eowyn?! Maybe it will be a tie in... Since they cast unknown actors for Faramir and Eowyn their roles might be less too :( You never know though, we wont see them til Two Towers comes out...........

Both Miranda Otto and David Wenham are Australian. I myself had never heard of them, but I know very little about the industry.
However the movie wasn't filmed in "Aussie land," (how'd you feel if someone called the US "Yankee Land," Tar?), it was filmed in New Zealand. PJ is from there, as well.

I recently left England to live in Ireland, and promised my younger brother that I would wait until he could come over and see the film with him.
