I found some striking similarities in the twobmovies as I watched LOTR the anumated version last night:
1. When the hobbits are on the road after meeting up with Pippin and Merry, and they hide from the Nazgul under that tree stump thing

2. The Horses that appear in the Ford (River thing?) where the Nazgul are washed away

3. The statues of the kings as the company crosses the Great River (the way their arms are outstretched)

The visual appearance of these were so similar I figured Pete had to have taken at least these images from the cartoon...what do you guys think?

I haven't seen the animated version since it came out over 20 years ago so I can't say that I can directly compare the two films, but both the horses in the foam at the ford into Rivendell and the Argonath are described in the book.

Yes, but it is a very loose description. They are almost exactly the same in both films, and I'm sure EVERYONE just so happens to imagine them exactly the same...

I have the animated version at home and I definitely agree with you. I do like the animated version, even though I know it has been much criticized but sometimes it feels like Ralph Bakshi has done the book more justice than PJ...

I think that you're right. I have the animated version at home and I love it. I have a version which ends after the battle on Helm's Deep, have they done the end as well, if they are where could I find it.

Someone else did the end, and the animated movie is called "The Return of the King". But I found it to be terrible. It is much below the quality of Bakshi.
