View Full Version : The War of Independence
Snaga
04-24-2002, 01:15 AM
Snaga sat in the deep-delved hall. He waited for the return of his ambassador, Ugronk.
For Ugronk was on a mission of great delicacy: to declare independence, and to bring home 3,000 orc soldiers taken south by Dain. He was impatient... what was happening?
Then down into his hall a bat flitted. And it landed upon his shoulder and spoke in its small voice. And Snaga listened.
'So he denies our independence and assails my ambassador! This cannot be tolerated. They have chosen the path of war.'
And he named as foes Dain Ironfoot, and Elessar.
Then he called to him his captains, and made his defenses ready. Messages were sent to old friends to seek support.
Far to the south, the small orc army of 3,000 headed north towards the river Gladden, knowing the pursuit would be hot on their heels.

(Snaga will be asked to note the specific time and place his orcs retreat into the mountains and/or leave the plains around the Anduin)
(and to clean out his PM box...)
Elessar turned to Lord Dain, and spoke in a level voice, the voice of a battle wise soldier. "Mylord, do not give them chase. Three thousand orcs are easily slain, and we can do that another time. They would had known that we would give chase, and will have a trap lain our for us. For now I say we cross the river, and take my new road the rest of the way north. I have also been reminded of a great weapon, the sword Orcrist...it may be time we payed dear old Thorin a visit...

Drygo, while sleeping in the inner chamber Minas Dúr-Naur is troubled a queer dream of violence and victory. He rolls over, and suddenly is startled by a panting orc sent from Snaga. The orc gasps out, "Lord Drygo, Snaga has sent me from afar. War is declared on his his kingdom. He requests help."
The orc, then scrambles down the steps, covering his nose because of the stink of cooked food. Drygo chuckles, and sends one of his nearby slaves to send for his most trusted officials. He also sends the swiftest birds in his courts to travel to all who are allied with Snaga and himself.
Days pass, orcs begin to crawl out of seemingly the very center of the Earth. Soon, Drygo was confident of the numbers massed, and began to gather his own men. They numbered at least 10,000 and were horsed on horses bred in the very land of Mordor. The orcs rode on Wargs, and numbered 5,000. Then 1,000 Uruk-Hai rode on foot. Drygo jumped onto the horse given to him by Snaga long ago, and began to ride to his ally Snaga.
Edit:there are 10,000. 4,000 men.

Dain sighed, "The orks they sent for that they said I stole, were never stolen, they left on there oun acord, yet they pass threw my lands and in this time of war tey shall be exteriminated........"
Ciryaher
04-24-2002, 05:26 PM
Ciryaher smells the breath of war com drifting from the east, and he paces in the palace of Annuminas. "Minister," he said, and a hobbit sitting at a small desk looked up.
"Yes, Sire?" the Minister asked, sticking his quill in an inkwell.
"How many days since we returned for our exercise?"
Minister Burrowes looked at a scroll. "It's been just over a week, Sire..."
"Take this message down, and then send copies to all of the governors:
War beyond Hithaeglir iminent. Alert militias and return to wartime blackouts in Angmar, Rhudaur, and Eregion. I will be coming to Carn Dum soon.
Marby scribbled for a moment, then looked up. "I'll have the scribes copy it right away and send it via the Quick Post, Sire."
"Thank you, Marby," said Ciryaher softly, then went to seek his Emperess.

And Elessar jumped into the saddle of his horse, and the sun of dawn was just coming over the hills. The orcs had not been gone yet for more than an hour. He rode on, crossing the river at an unknown bridge, and by the end of the day arrived at the capitol of Rhunorod.
Elessar's Guard came behind him, the small army of elves, making only two hundreds, went north. They turned into mirkwood, instead of going to Corrock, and they journeyed to the tower of everlasting light.

Then she waits to be let in.

As Drygo rode at the head of his troops, he spied in the distance a
silver shape growing larger with every passing moment. He chuckled and with a cruel laugh he stood in his stirrups, waving as the enormous dragon swooped down causing his troops to quail in fear. "Magnus, Great One! Snaga will be pleased to learn you have decided to join with us!"
Settling himself on the ground, Magnus folded his leathery wings and snarled at some of the orcs who dared brandish weapons at him.
"Snaga dealt well with me before and the prospect of feasting on man-flesh again greatly pleases me! Therefore know that I grant you and all his allies my protection."
Ciryaher
04-24-2002, 11:03 PM
Ciryaher ran his hands through his hair, then walked over and opened the door himself. Seeing Aredhel of Eregion there, he bowed low and touched her hand to his forehead. "Hail, Lady Aredhel! What brings you to Annuminas? Do you require sustenance?" he asked.

*Over a hill from Snaga's 3,000 army, an armoured Dwarf ran up to the lord Elessar. "Mylord, the army is ready, and the prey is two miles out, moving slowly in the noonlight." Elessar turned to him, his face grim. "Thank you, General, you may go now. Tell the troops I will be making an appearance in a short time.
*Elessar opened the flap of his tent, it was the one tent in this mass of people, hastily set up to protect the fragile maps that had been brought. The army around him was most of the force of Gabil-Dum, numbering some 8,000. In Dain's long time of peace the smartest of the dwarfs had developed reletively inexpensive armour for the army, it was just as strong as the old plate armour, but was defiantly resistant to arrows, and was said to be able to reduce archer inflicted casualties by at least 20%. Elessar himself was in his special armour, made of a steel blend he had discovered while he was a Silver Wizard. It was nearly flawless in design, not a hole or nook for an arrow or stray dagger. He unsheathed Anduril, and thought of just how many orcs it had already slain. He looked into the sky, not a single cloud. He mounted his horse and rode into the midst of the dwarves. There were 6 thousand dwarven infantry, with an assortment of swords, axes, and warhammers. There were also an additional 2,000 dwarven cavalry, trained by the finest riders in Rohan for an extensive period of time. Elessar rode into their midst, and cryed out. Telling them of certain doom that issued forth from those who had no buisness in this affair, and telling them that much rested in this battle. For indeed, he cried, nearly half of the 8 thousand forces of Snaga were beyond that ridge, now a mere mile away. And he gave the signal, and rode to the front of the mass. Soon the army split in two, the infantry going with lord , and the cavalry going with Elessar. Minutes later, war cries issued forth, as the two force of dwarven infantry decended on the tired orcs. It was sunlight, and the four thousand dwarves could had beaten the orcs on their own. But near to ten minutes into the battle a great horn sounded from the west, and the orcs thought that help had arrived, but the standard of Gabil-Dum came over the hills instead, and the three thousand orcs were to be surrounded. The infantry pressed foreward, feirce oaths they swore while tearing orcish flesh. And the cavalry came closer, they were nearly upon them. And the orcs had had no time to make a defence, no ditches or trenches, no long pikes or spears, and indeed, no intellegence had told them of this. What would the slave Ugronk do?
Mormegil
04-25-2002, 12:23 AM
Mormegil had gotten word of events to the North of his lands from messengers despatched to him in the White Mountains.
He rallied up his force of 500 Rangers and rode North towards the battle.
He and his men arrived just after Elessar's men had surrounded the Orcs.
Mormegil bade his men to stay at the top of the hill. Watching the events in front of them.

Yet the dwarves in their folly had forgotten one thing! This was lately their own army that they were attacking. Trained by them, armed by them. And whilst the orcs had run the direct route north, Elessar had led them a longer route, across to the east of the river and then back west. So the stout legs of the dwarves flagged in that hour, but the orcs were fresh, and full of idealism and spirit for they knew they fought for their very freedom.
Moreover, in a sight recalling the Battle of 5 Armies, a great flock bats came from the mountains in vast and awesome numbers, turning the sky to black. The orc jeered with delight.
Moreover, they had some tricks of their own, not known to those in the service of Dain. And they stood upon the ridge, and with their shields made a great shield wall on all sides, and their pikes, poisoned tipped and sharp were all that the cavalry could find. Charge followed fruitless charge. And soon the slopes were piled high with the twisting bodies of those steeds, and the hewn bodies of dwarven riders. And with those dead there barring the way, no further charge up those slopes were possible.
And so it was that the dwarven cavalry was utterly defeated, it shattered remnants fleeing dismayed. And many in that time rued that there was none of the House of Durin leading them.
But the orcs stood and laughed. For few of them had suffered casualties, and as night fell their strength grew.

(Just a few things for you to take into consideration-
A- only one move at a time. The dwarven infantry outnumbers you, if you turn to a shield wall you will be slaughtered from behind, and if the cavalry starts to lose, even a little, it can turn and retreat up the hill
B- The army of Gabil-Dum did not go to Rohan, it marched from Corrock with me, I am the only tired one. Your army has been marching for a day now, and is under the noonday sun, and would be hard pressed for a rally.
C- For the bats to come there from the mountains (at least 200 miles) it would take hours. They could not have come yet.
D- Gabil-Dum made my armour, and the army of Gabil-Dum uses it. I cannot speak for what Dain has armed the other groups with

The army of Gabil-Dum did not go to Rohan, it marched from Corrock with me, I am the only tired one. Your army has been marching for a day now, and is under the noonday sun, and would be hard pressed for a rally. That's 'The army' not some, part, or a little bit of...
ic-
In Gabil Dum they awaited the return of their forces from the west and the south. For they had departed to Carrock, and to the Gap of Rohan. Many days had it been since they had marched away south. None remained to look after the city. They looked to their neighbors in the Iron Hills for protection. But the elven lady Eve, who governed that land, answered the summons of war and led all those forces westward also. And in the towns and citadels of the dwarves some muttered that this was not wise.
Thus at Gabil-Dum, when they heard the march of many feet they cheered long and loud. Yet the cheers faded to confusion when they saw, not the banner of the Khazum Kingdoms, but a force of Easterlings from the Rhun approaching.
A great force it was, more mighty than any army seen in those parts for many long years , for in that hour it seemed that all the East was moving. Fully 25,000 came, horsemen and Wainriders, axemen bearded and grim. They unfurled the banner of the Mornclaur Federation, and that force came unto the city. No weapon was drawn, but they came with great battering rams, and ladders of great length. And they hurled their battering rams with great force, but the gates of the dwarves held firm. And because those walls were so toweringly high, they lashed together ladder after ladder until they reached to the top. Then up they climbed, man after man, tens then hundreds then thousands. And there were no armies inside to stop them.
And such leader as could be found from those dwarves in Gabil-Dum came forth, and said: ‘Greetings ancient ally. What brings you to our city?’
And the Captain of the Rhun Legion said: ‘We come in peace and bring you a great gift of Dorwinion Wine!’ And so saying they opened the gates from inside, and without further word the triumphant armies rode into the city.
But this was but small compared to the host that came to the Iron Hills. Some 40,000 men of the East came to this realm and again there was no opposition, for the armies of Dain had all departed. And again they entered in peace and friendship, and bestowed gracious gifts upon their friends the dwarves.
And the forces of the East went amongst these lands, and sought out and found the secret ways, the hidden passages, the traps and the fortifications. And in this way they made sure of the defence of the lands, should any try to assail them. And in Gabil-Dum, the Temple of Light, a place of evil plots of assassination, was closed. And though there was little about it not known to Snaga (for he had been trained there, and was lately Second-in-Command), such secrets as remained became known. All the agents of this force, were arrested and imprisoned, though this was but a few, for these were counted as part of the armies of Dain. And they had gone forth.
So with the taking of the capital in the Iron Hills, and of the great city of Gabil-Dum, peacefully and bloodlessly ended the Khazum Kingdoms. For in this hour was its dissolution announced. All that remained were the White Mountains, and the Lonely Mountain. And to these places, which had not yet lifted weapon in the war, messages of peace were sent.
These tidings of victory reached Gonnilclaur, Urukgush of the North, in his deep hall. And he smiled.:)

Mormegil watched events on the battlefield with interest. The Orc hordes were far too strong. Mormegil realised that this war was futile from the Dwarves point of view.
Mormegil bade his men return to Aldamar, and rounding up whatever remained of his Dwarven army from the White Mountains, numbering some 2000 Dwarves. Mormegil Returned to Ered Nimrais.
Once there he took down the standard of the Khazum Kingdoms and flew his own flag over the city. The flag of the Kingdom of the White Mountains.
Mormegil recieved the message of peace from the conquerors of the Khazad Kingdoms, and sent reply, pledging friendship and alliegence.
Mormegil then sent messengers to all countries in ME. Announcing that The White Mountains are now a seperate kingdom. With Mormegil as king.
The Khazum Kingdoms have fallen and now Ered Nimrais is a seperate state. I extend the hand of friendship to all nations.

OOC: Either you edit your post or delete it, the Rpg rules clearly state that you can NOT controle the actions of another player or his troops in your post without their consent first. I, nor Elessar gave that permision.Yet though they did not cheer, they were not unduly worried, for they had been told by their leaders that Mornclaur was an ally. So the gates remained open, and the dwarves carried on their business.
-PLUS, I have closed ALL GATES, they can not be opened unless it be by me, or Elessar. I , nor Elessar has left the Gates open either. So you could not have gotten into our mountains unless by my orders. They are magiced gates of old and can not be opened but mere orks.
Yet the dwarves in their folly had forgotten one thing! This was lately their own army that they were attacking. Trained by them, armed by them. -Next, You yet again said what Elessar did, yet he did not.
Firstly... Dain clearly posted that he had taken half of all the armies with him to Rohan. If you want I will allow you the other half to be stationed at Carrock and come from there. So cut your force by half... oh dear you don't outnumber me anymore LOL! Secondly Bats...no midday sun... therefore rally! Plus orcs are well known for their stamina.
-Lastly, That was in another rpg, and they have come back that was 2 weeks ago, 2 months in forum time!!!!!

The mountain in sealed shut in case of something like so. So I have decided to give you independence under MY terms.

At the seige of Minas Tirith, the gates built by the men of Numenor withstood three swings of Grond. But those gates were defended, and the presence of Gandalf prevent the entry of the Witch King. Gabil Dum and the Iron Hills were undefended. And the armies of the Mornclaur Federation are armed with the great blasting magic of the Pyromancers that was woven into their siege-craft. The great doors of dwarves were stronger than those of Minas Tirith, but the spell of Dain was under relentless pressure of blast after blast, and the very stones groaned in agony at the terrible pressure. And lo! They at the last they crumbled, and gave way, and down crashed lintel, frame and doors in great ruin.
And in rode the armies of Mornclaur.

Nain from his tower here's of all that has happened from the eagles. Nain being the new Lord of The Kazum Kingdoms makes a very strategic move. Of his 30,500 men (not counting the help of the eagles) he sends 20,000 men towards The Iron Hills. He sends them up to a very tall mount that goes higher than the Hills. Of is 20,000 men 5,000 are archers. They all get armed and take aim. Nain goes himself to this very spot. With The Horn Of Kazum Nain blows a loud clear horn blow. All the orcs in the city look towards the sound in horror. Nain yells to the orcs "LEAVE NOW ALL OF YOU!I know I am allied with your leader snaga, but if you dont leave our treaty is paused and all of you will be terminated!" Nain searches the ground and sees only but 100 orc archers. His other 15,000 men go over to the war with snaga and Ellesar. His highest captain Jili sits on a hill and waits.

(2) don't try to post how many of each kind I have, thanks. 100 archers:rolleyes: (3) There aren't any mountains higher than the Iron Hills nearby Nain. Check your maps. (4) I will also assume a number of days marching to bring your forces to these locations. Anyway, since you want it this way...
ic:
On hearing this news from afar Snaga laughed. It was good to see that folly had been spread amongst all the leaders of the dwarves of the north. Still there was little challenge in this. O for a worthy opponent! Nain had conspired against Dain, and rebelled for his own ends. Now he had got greedy and arrogant. What he might have got with patience and negotiation, had he waited for Lord Dengen's return, he would never take through force. For the might of the Mornclaur Federation was well beyond his reckoning. Snaga flexed a little finger.
--------------
In the Iron Hills they gave no answer. For the fortresses of the dwarves were strong, and they had had many days to repair some of the damage. Gates were in place, although not yet of the same strength as before. There was little for the dwarven archers to aim at, for the cunning defences of the dwarves kept the strength of the defenders hidden. But arrow slits there were, and they knew they could keep the eagles at bay or down them from the sky. Now the forces of the East could manned them in great numbers, and feared little from the outside. And they laughed. Firstly at their own luck in finding such strong defences unmanned. Second, for they outnumbered the forces approaching across the plains below two to one. Soon they would issue forth and crush them utterly. But in the meantime they waited, secure in the knowledge that they could not be taken. The gates were the weak point, but to take it would need a force many times larger than the one they now faced.
--------------
For events were in motion elsewhere. Down from the north, came the Forodwaith regiment of Mornclaur. A small unit this: just 5,000 troops but enough for the task. For in his folly, Nain the Young had sent forth all his strength to war. And another great fortress of the dwarves lay undefended: Erebor. Down they swept.
Again they found the doors locked and shut, but again the great siege-craft of the Mornclaur Federation was pitted against them. Blast after blast, they withstood, but at last they gave way, and crashed down in great ruin.
And the orcs poured in, jeering at the dwarves they found in there. But at the orders of those leading them, they did them no harm. Instead they immediately set about searching out all the ways of the mountain, and setting themselves in defence.
But into the throne room went their leader. And he looked around with great delight. For there before him he saw it: Orcrist! The fell sword, most hated of orc banes! And they took it, and carried it to the great smithies of the dwarves.
And with great cheering and ceremony, they cast it into the roaring furnace, and it melted and perished utterly.
And more than that: their eyes lighted upon the Arkenstone of Thrain. Here was a pretty thing!
ooc.... just so everyone is clear (again!):

In the Vale of Anduin, the orcs took advantage of the disarray in the ranks of the dwarves to continue their march.
They marched only by night, and watched the lands about them carefully. Each time they made their way from one high spot to the next, making each move carefully so they could never be ambushed, or charged from the prow of the hill. And they stayed close to the Misty Mountains as they went, until they reached the Old Road.

The orcs and dwarves had been fighting long, with little casualties on each side, until at last Elessar sounded a retreat. The orcs, in the folly of their shield wall, could not give chase. Somewhere between three and four thousand dwarves of the Infantry escaped the brawl, and later met up with the three hundred cavalry members who had escaped that slaughter. They were the last of the loyal dwarves, the only ones that had not turned to foolhearted rebellion. They decided amongst themselves to go back to Dor-Taur-Sir with Elessar, and there await their lord...(Dain, I was going to PM you, but your box is full)

Ciryaher recieves his reply in the Quick Post. He waves his hand and the hobbit mailcarrier bows and stands by.
Taking a knife, he breaks the seal and opens the letter and skims over it. He then scrawled something on it, remelted the seal with his own signet, and handed it to the hobbit.
To Governor Lorien of Angmar:
I am sending 5,00 troops to all of the provinces bordering the Misty Mountains, but I do not think the war will escalate. In light of this, I am keeping the main contingient of the Army in Arthedain, and I shall stay here for the time being.
Keep up the excellent work, comrade.
~Emperor Hyarmendacil III
"Return it, Master Hobbit," he said and sat back on his chair while the young hobbit sped out of the chamber.

Having been apprised of Snaga's crisis, Magnus flew with all speed to Erebor, with the intent of taking up permanent residence. From this vantage point he knew could wreak havoc at will and obtain at the same time a place he had long coveted.

Ok sorry snaga, here's what really happened. My other 15,000 men are outside the broken gate of Erober. I yell to the orcs "I will let you all leave now in peace, I wish no more for blood and battles, but if you do not leave that is what it will come to you!" Nain and his army wait for the orcs cheiftain to reply.

Lorien upon receiving Ciryaher's reply nods to himself and looks at the hobbit who had been running the messages and seemed a bit out of breath. "You should get some rest. I have no reply to this except to agree with him." Lorien calls for his commander and relates to him the information he just received.

In reply, from the rough-built stockade that the orcs have constructed where the gate once was, they merely shoot an arrow. It hits noone, but sticks quivering into ground not far from the dwarves.
Nain's dwarves are enraged for a moment, but then see that the arrow has a piece of parchment attached, which has a message upon it.
We will go if the great one, Lord Dengen-Goroth, Grand High King of the East bids us to. Await his verdict in the Mornclaur Senate!
And new tidings reached the ears of the leader of the dwarves. A part of the force that had taken the Iron Hills had followed them when they returned from there. It was but two or three miles away, perhaps 15,000 strong: wainriders and bowmen for the most part. 'But they make no move,' said the scout. 'They scan the skies, and have scouts on fast horses in the land that I have seen at a distance. For now this force waits in readiness it seems.'
Thus in the lands once known as the Desolation of the Dragon, a stand-off ensued, and tension hung in the air.
Inside, the captain entrusts a package into the safe-keeping of one of his cleverest wolf-riders.

An eagle flies up to Nain, the eagle whispers to him of their followers. Nain sits on a rock and thinks for a moment. He sends the eagle towards his captain Jili. The eagle tells Jili of the news and right away Nain's 15,000 men that were watching the battle are on there way back to The Lonely Mountain. While waiting Nain and his men set up all their shields to make one giant sheild. Beacuse Nain always brings medics to the feild he uses them to make a fire that melts all the sheilds together. The forces are ready for anything.
OOC: The sheild is shaped like a L. Thelong end facing the Iron Hills and the low part facing Erebor.

Drygo, after recieving a summons, begins to march his troops north, in the direction of the Lonely Mountain.
Drygo then begins to have his troops patrol all roads, in the direction of the Lonely Mountain. The Wargs and Uruk-Hai are told to patrol and tax all who attempt to pass. All weapons will be taken from whoever must pass, unless they be an ally of Mornclaur. (By my discretion as well.)

Kit rides into Elessar's camp. Immediately, he finds himself surrounded by very mean-looking men with big swords. Kit stares at them. It suddenly occurs to him that he is very likely to get killed. One of the men scowls at him, and presses a knife to Kit's throat.
"What have we here?" he asks. "An Arnorian spy, perhaps?"

(They are elves, or dwarves, not men)
"Hold it, there" A tall man emerges from a group of elves and dwarves crowded in one cart, it seems to hold supplies of some kind. The man gives some last orders, and walks over to where the hobbit is surrounded. "Kit Baggins?!?! What Brings the thain of the shire of Arnor to these parts? Surely you have something you need to discuss? Come, we shall go to my halls... have you ever been in this tower ahead? The tower of Everlasting Light?

Kit grins in relief.
"Lord Elessar!" he says. "I'm so pleased to see you!" Kit takes a deep breath. "I've come to offer my alleigance." he says. "I can't speak for any of my people, but I wish to fight for you. Ciryaher has allied himself with the orcs, and it goes against everything I stand for to help those creatures."

Settling atop the Lonely Mountain, Magnus surveys the scene unfolding before him. Dwarves had erected structures that to his eyes were amusing. "Interesting," he thought sharpening his claws "I wonder how sturdy they are."
He launched himself toward the barriers and fire belched forth from his gaping jaws. The dwarves nearest the barrier cried aloud as they were engulfed in flame. Mass chaos ensued as Magnus hurled himself into the walls sending huge shards flying. He then wheeled in the air and flew with powerful strokes back towards the Mountain.
Orcs appeared at the gates and, sighting the dragon, word was immediately passed to Snaga.

Nain catches a glimpse of the dragon coming, he quickly ducks before he can get scathed. As the dragon flies up Nain get his bow ready. 10,000 men make it from the war before by snaga's base.
(ooc OK Nain firstly I want you to confirm with Dain that you have those troops, since Elessar says Dain kept at least 8000, of the 15000 that were involved in the Vale of Anduin. Then I want you to post your route and I want Elessar to have the chance to respond, since he has said you don’t have permission to come and attack from his land.)
The Khand Legion, led by Drygo (Sting) are watching the route east. The dwarves are spotted as soon as they emerge from Mirkwood. Quickly they are concerned. This battle would be 10,000 dwarf infantry against 3000 uruk-hai wolf-riders, and 10,000 cavalry. This would be a close and hard battle. The dwarves wish to reach the Lonely Mountain. But the Khand legion do not aim to destroy, but to prevent the dwarves reaching the Lonely Mountain. The dwarves are canny, and seeing the cavalry form defensive formations. But they cannot move like that, and the Khand legion keeps its distance. When the dwarves start to move they have a disadvantage: they face raid after raid, from the sides and rear, and a force in front. An other force perhaps would not have made it, but the dwarves bring 3,000 to the gates of the Lonely Mountain (ooc: and that is VERY generous! By rights you’re all dead). A remnant of the Khand legion remains: perhaps 2,000 strong. But it lets them go, and returns to watching the fences of Mirkwood.

Nain also sees the 15,000 orcs coming from in front of him.
(ooc: There are 15,000 Easterling men. They were not moving, so you have no right to move them.)

He smiles when he sees the orcs stop because from behind them comes half of the army from Ost Telcontar(2,500) the dwarves from behind easily take out much of the orcs.
(ooc As previously posted) The whole area is full of scouts, so there was no chance of a sneak attack. Moreover the dwarven infantry came against a force that was many times the size. A detachment of 5,000 wainriders broke like fury on this force, and beat them back with great loss. Only 1000 remained, to return home to Ost-Telcontar.
Then Nain turns to his left. He sees up on his walls orc archers. He smiles again as he looks to the right and sees 2,000 eagles coming. The orcs, aiming for the dwarves aren't aware of the eagles.
(ooc As previously posted) The forces of Mornclaur are watching the skies – they have been well briefed about the eagles.
The eagles take out all the archers on the walls with a loss of about 150.
But more spring to replace them. And they had forgotten Magnus the dragon who rose in great wrath, and bore down on the eagles flames pouring from his jaws. The feathers of many eagles lit like torches, and they crashed burning to the ground. The remaining eagles backed off, not wishing for the same fate.
Then, 10,000 men bust down the quickly made gate of the orcs. The eagles and 10,000 men charge in.
But there were but 3,000 against still most of the original 5,000 orcs who were in strong defensive positions. It was madness to attack in such a manner. Perhaps 1,000 orcs were lost, but the 3,000 dwarves were utterly broken.
The orcs are in The Lonely Mountain are slowly taken out. Nain with his other 15,000 men and his shield charge ahead. The orcs, not being to smart (excusing you snaga) are confused greatly by being attacked from front and back and they are also destroyed slowly, but surely.
The dwarves have a huge L shaped piece of metal to carry. It is heavy and unwieldy, their charge is slow. The Easterlings split into two groupings that move swiftly either side of the advancing shield. Suddenly the shield is not a help but a hindrance, because which ever way they turn it, one flank is exposed. The archers fire repeatedly, and many dwarves fall under the torrent of arrows.
Then, having seen off the small force from Ost Telcontar, the returning wain-riders break on their exposed rear. This reversal is too much. The dwarven force drops its shield, and rapidly retreats towards Ost Telcontar. The Easterlings allow them to go, revelling in their victory, but not wishing for unnecessary slaughter. 10,000 dwarves are allowed to head south. Nain goes with them, rueing his decision. He has but 13,000 left in total in Ost Telcontar.
Inside the orc captain smiles at his success. He still held the lonely mountain with 3,000 orcs. And 12,000 easterlings remain nearby.
ooc that is my interpretation. I doubt you will like it but its based on all the facts, which yours is not.
But I propose that if you delete your post, I'll delete this one. I really think it would be better all round to negotiate about this. Its just that you have to negotiate with Dengen not me, as I have said before. Why don't we all backtrack for a minute, and agree a ceasefire?

Days pass with an uneasy quiet in the land. Far off in Beraid Rhun deals were being struck and alliances made, and little was known of that. To the east of Mirkwood, battle had been postponed, but had it been ended altogether? Everyone waited.
Magnus the dragon waited too, impatiently. He wanted the Lonely Mountain. Ah yes, dear old Smaug's place. It was time a dragon lived here again. Why were the orcs still here, why did they not chase the dwarves out so he could hunt them down? He waited, high on the slopes of the mountain, watching with a baleful eye.
Then messengers came, going hither and thither, spreading the news that spoke of peace. For Dain Ironfoot had joined the Mornclaur Federation, and added the homes of the northern dwarves to its strength: the Iron Hills, Gabil Dum, Ost Telcontar and the Lonely Mountain.
And all about the people were pleased, save at Erebor, where they feared the dragon. Why was it still there? The captain of the orcs sent one of his braver lads up to see the dragon. 'We're at peace with the dwarves now, great dragon. Er... thanks but... erm...' The dragon saw what was coming torched him with an angry blast of fire. 'So they summon me, and then get rid of me. Is that it? Why should I not have this lair as my reward?'
At this time Lord Gonnilclaur, came from the north with his personal company to oversee matters.
He reduced the Easterling forces in Gabil Dum and the Iron Hills to 10,000 a piece, and he stationed 10,000 in the Lonely Mountain. For these men would be more to the liking of the dwarves than the orc regiment that was there now. These he dismissed, and sent home to the north.
Other forces he sent to scout and secure the new borders of the Federation, for the Great Towers did not reach here. And he set about recruiting a new force: from the men of Lake Town and Dale, and the wide lands between the Celduin and the Carnen.
And messengers he sent to heart of the Federation bearing these tidings and gifts.
Then later he went that way himself, yet before this was done he climbed the mountain to talk personally to his great friend, Magnus. With him he brought a mule, carrying two chests.
'Great dragon! Yet again you have come to my aid, and I am grateful. I know you had your eye on this mountain, but I do not see that that can be now. We have made friends with the dwarves you see. Their lord has sworn allegiance to the High King of the East, Lord Morhir.'
Magnus flicked his tail, and eyed the orc before him with displeasure. This was not what he wanted to hear.
'But I have another proposal. For in my lands to the north, we have found another lair of you of great fame and repute. For here of old was the lair of Scatha the Worm, who consumed one of the great rings of the dwarves. I offer that to you as a place you can call yours for as long as you live. And the orcs of the Grey Mountains will bring you a tribute each year, starting with this...' And he threw open the two chests. One was full of gold, and the other the most wondrous gemstones.
'Does this repay my debt to you?' he asked.

Elessar sat in his halls, and laughed at the growing strength of the east. For he knew, a kingdom could only get so big, and have such a strenght, before it utterly collapsed. He wondered whether or not the same thought had crossed the lord Goroth's mind. It would take years for the proposed wall and towers that Morhir had devised to be completed, and even then none was invincable. He laughed again, a casual laugh, and called for his lightfooted elven messengers. He sent them out in all directions, and they carried messages to far away lords.
