I haven't read the Sil, but I was wondering if anyone knows anything concerning Harad. From the little glimpses that we get in the Lord of the Rings it sounds very intruiging. I get the impression it's kind of a dessert. Also, I was wondering if Tolkien drew any maps of other sections of Middle Earth. The sections in the North-East of the conventional map leave much to be desired.

Try "The Atlas of Middle Earth", by Karen Wynn Fonstad. It has lots of maps including the north and Harad. She is a professional cartographer, and filled in the maps from details in the books.
