View Full Version : The Crowning of the King
Beorn
05-13-2002, 06:19 AM
Great crowds gathered outside the pinacle at Minas Tirith, to see the crowning of the new King & Queen, Valar & Elbereth.
Beorn's man brought forth his crown, and Chippy brought forth her crown.
Valar & Elbereth stood upon the pinacle, and then a voice came from the heavens. Not audible, but heard. Not distinguishable, but definite. Not truly present, but existing. The voice came into the minds of all: in Minas Tirith, in Gondor, in Arnor, in Middle-Earth, in Aman, and even to Melkor in the void.
The ruling of the great realm of Gondor has been laid upon the two standing above the rest, Valar and Elbereth. Do they accept it and all its duties pertaining to it? Do they hereby swear to uphold its policies, to hold the name of Gondor where it belongs, to remain true to the people, guide them in times of need and fear, nurture them in times of hurt, and protect them from all evil that may come unto this land?

Elessar stood apart from the rest, atop a roof of one of the many buildings of Arnor. He mumbled to himself. He had mixed feelings. He had long wanted a crown from the lands of his forefathers, and was more peturbed every time someone without the proper bloodline took the throne... But Valar was a friend, a good one at that. They had stood together many times, and he thought that, among the others of the forum, a better canidate for king could not had been chosen. He held Anduril in his hands, tossing it back and forth. It seemed heavier on this day. Then the voice came to his mind, and he knew that it must had been the last will of Beorn, echoing from the halls of Mandos. He remained silent, and the rest of the crowd that looked to be three hundred thousands went quiet too. And all eyes were on Valar's lips.
Snaga
05-13-2002, 06:11 PM
Snaga, far away, spins round 'who said that? was that you?' he demands of an orc who stands nearby. 'Not me, O Urukgush! I heard it too... the voice of some fell spirit of the tarks I think!'
'Hmm maybe!' muses Snaga. 'If 'twere the voice of King Beorn, it is a strange thing indeed. Perhaps he is not yet at rest? I wonder how he feels about being the only King of Gondor not to be left at rest in honour in the Rath Dínen. Not that it is any affair of mine. But if the dead will send words into the minds of living, mayhap they hear what those words bring to mind.'
'But come! Let us send gifts to King Valar and Queen Elbereth from the Grey Mountains, as tokens of esteem and goodwill.'
And a messenger is sent, bearing two magnificent cloaks one made of the fur of the mountain tiger for King Valar, and one for Queen Elbereth made of the fur of the snow leopard. And they have diamonds glimmering in their collars.
('Lucky I have friends amongst the people of Laketown who can make such things of what we find in these mountains!' he thinks to himself. 'I wouldn't have wanted to leave their fashioning to my people.';) )

Nain and his 1,000 workers, all that he has left make their way to Gondor. Hence they make it the workers are positioned to wait outside. Nain walks in to talk to Valar and Elbereth. He bows to them both and says "Lord Valar, Queen Elbereth, I have nothing to give, I have no home. So I come to you to ask to govern and mine in the Hills of Andrast. I have great plans for the mines. Just give me some materials, men, and time and I will promise you, you will be pleased." Nain stands in waiting for reply.
Valar
05-13-2002, 06:53 PM
*Valar, takes pity on his friend, for a great lord, this is no position for him to be in*
"Nain, it sounds to me like a good idea, but i i'm afraid at this moment i have more important things on my mind, if you care to watch the ceromany and afterwoods i would be happy to talk to you in the senate, i am not rejecting your proposition, far from it, i just need more time to discuss the ins and outs."
"In the mean time, i would be happy for you and your men to stay in Minas Tirith, and if we cannot find room to accomadate you all, we shall provide tents and simple lodgings."
*He calls to one of his men*
"Will you please see that nain and his men are comftable. Now to more presing matters"
*Valar strides off to get ready for the ceromany.*

Nain bows and walks to his men. He sends them all to homes in Minas Tirith(which they find very comfortable), whereas Nain alone walks to the ceremony.

Elessar bounded down from the roof, an Idea forming in his head. He ran along the crowded streets, until he came to his inn. There he went up to his room and closed the shades on the window.

Elbereth
05-15-2002, 06:39 AM
As Beorn's ghostly oath is majestically said, Elbereth nervously looks down at Chippy, who holds the beautiful crown, (which is not really a crown, but a wide mithril chain that holds a flawless crystal blue gem). Chippy looks up at her and smiles kindly, which eases Elbereth a little.
So many emotions fill Elbereth's heart as the reality their newly appointed responsibility is layed clearly before her. Emotions of joy & happiness, of thankfulness, and a sense of great responsibility...and fear, yes fear that perhaps Valar and she will not be able to live up to the great legacy of King Beorn and Queen Chippy, fill her mind.
However, her doubts subside as she looks in the direction of her newly wed husband Valar. Dressed in his kingly cloak, Valar shows a majestic stature of knowing calm and self-assurance, that she had never seen before. Indeed, he had always carried himself in an authoratitive manner...but never had he looked so grand. Elbereth's heart filled with pride.
Elbereth
05-15-2002, 07:02 AM
As the voice finishes the oath...All eyes turn to Elbereth.
*takes a deep breath...smiles briefly Valar...then faces the crowd*
"I, Elbereth Gilthoniel, wife of Valar of Rohan, daughter of the great Eru above, Star Queen of Valinor, and Governor of Earhwesta, hereby, accept Gondor and all the duties pertaining to it. I hereby swear to uphold its policies, to hold the name of Gondor where it belongs, to remain true to the people, guide them in times of need and fear, nurture them in times of hurt, and protect them from all evil that may come unto this land.
As Eru above is my witness, I hearby, accept the crown of Gondor!"
*Then Chippy steps up on the pinnacle and Elbereth lowers her head, as Chippy places the Mithril crown gently upon her head*
Ciryaher
05-15-2002, 07:06 AM
Ciryaher rushes into the city and makes his way to the crowd. He carries a small box made out of lebrethon, clutching it close to his breast.
He works his way to the front of the crowd, then waits for Valar to take his vow.

Chippy wearing a dark red satin dress, the dress she wore when she was crowned, smiled as she heard the voice, a stern but gentle voice, one that she misses deeply.
Her thoughts disappeared when she heard Elbereth speak the words of Gondor, she knew now that they had chosen the right people to rule Gondor.
She feels a single tear run down her face as she gently places the Mithril crown on Elbereth's shining dark brown hair*. Chippy turns to the crowd and says "Elbereth, Queen of Gondor, Lady of Valar". The crowd starts to claps but she makes a signal that all should be quiet. She stands still as she awaits Valar's vow.
(*I didn't know what color your hair was so I said dark brown)
Valar
05-17-2002, 11:53 AM
*Valar looks round out of the crowed, his people, He takes a deep breath.*
"I Valar Of Rohan and Gondor, Yellow wizard of the white council, and high ranger. I hereby renounce all former ties with other lands and swear myself to Gondor. I swear to uphold its policies, to hold the name of Gondor where it belongs, to remain true to the people, guide them in times of need and fear, nurture them in times of hurt, and protect them from all evil that may come unto this land."
* A man brought forth the on a Red cushion, bowed to his knees and Valar took the crown. He looked around all of his friends were there, he smiled and placed it on his head. A murmor went round the crowd, so long he had been a weather beaten ranger, and a worn warrior in battle. But now his kingly for was realeased, he towered above all around, but still in his stern face was a warm smile. Finally They were king and queen on Gondor*
Ciryaher
05-17-2002, 05:18 PM
"Lord and Lady of Gondor," said Ciryaher from the front of the crowd, "I must bestow these unto you."
He made his way forward with the black case and stood before the couple. "I have perhaps done wrongly in keeping these for so long, but they belonged to the royalty of Gondor. I did not give them to the late King Beorn because he was of the Northlands, and not of Gondor," he said, and opened the case. Lying within were two brooches shaped like many-rayed stars, made of white and blue crystals and mithril. "If Your Majesties would permit me, I shall adorn you with them," Ciryaher said, and bowed.

From his window, and much better view, Elessar saw Valar give the final vow, and smiled as he saw Ciryaher's gift. He had wondered where those had went...
Emmediately after the crowning Elessar closed the curtain once again. He set to work.

An elven messenger approaches the newly crowned King and Queen,"Your Majesties, I bear a letter and a gift from the Lady Aredhel of Rivendell, Governor of Imladris and Senator."
He hands the small box and the letter to them.
King Valar and Queen Elbereth,
I hereby present this gift of the elven people by means of messenger upon you. Lord Elrond gave these into my keeping a long time ago, before leaving Middle-earth. The best regards to your future.
Lady Aredhel
They open the box and in it is two necklaces, one strung with a sapphire, the other with an emerald.

And so, the spirit of Beorn passed out of Gondor. His last request fulfilled, he left to be free.

Elessar immerged from his rooms an hour later. He had a huge packgage under his right arm. He walked to the great tower, and used his name and title to make himself allowed into the inner chambers. He came upon a room where the greatest lords and ladies of Middle earth were gathered. He stood in the center of the room, listening to the conversation. He noticed that a few people had noticed him. Those people noting that he had not been present at the crowning. They stared at the huge package that was lying at Elessar's feet.
