Okay, I gotta know: Which is better Attack of the Clones or Fellowship of the Ring?

I hate to say this, but the only good thing about going to see Attack of the Clones was the coming attraction for Matrix II.

What was Lucas thinking, I mean the effects were cool but should'nt there be a story in there somewhere.

Also, Just a friendly suggestion. You might want to shorten up your signature to three lines or the Moderators of Infinate Power will send you a nasty-gram.

The only thing AotC does better then FotR is special effects. And you know what? I could even argue with that. Some of the special effects in FotR don't look like special effects at all, so in a way that means they are much better.

The acting is very stale, or perhaps it's the extremely cheesy dialogue. I'm not even sure. But there is something bad about it.

The only line in that movie that reaches the level of what we see in FotR would be when Anakin says that he killed the women and the children, and how they are animals and he killed them like animals. That came off very powerfully. But everything else felt really forced. Yoda was funny, but in a way sad too. I mean, he didn't have one good line! Compare that to the Empire Strikes Back. There are SO many good Yoda lines there. Practically every line is memorable.

lotr is much better then attack of the clones, i mean all the other star wars movies were much better then attack of the clones in everything apart from effects but the lotr movie's were even better then that,
though did u know there is yet 1 more star wars movie to come!

I just saw Attack of the Clones, and I think it's really awesome! Not only the effects, but also the storyline. It started it a bit weak, but it got better, and it had very 'dark' parts in it, you could just feel how Anakin was becoming more evil all the time. The only problem was that it was sometimes a bit confusing, with the Federation, the Republic, and who belonged to what.
But Lotr was just as cool, even cooler that is. There were also a lot of deeper meanings, and you could also tell that what is still to come will be very great. So, my vote would be Lotr!

ack...can't decide between my two favorite movies!!

fotr was excellent, but i wasn't drawn to it as much. i mean aftr seeing it the first time...i waited a couple of weeks before seeing it again.

aotc on the other hand, i saw it four times in the first four days and just keep on going back. plus, i'm mainly a star wars fan so my loyalties lie with AOTC.

FotR definitely takes the prize!! It was soo much better than AotC!

Don't get me wrong, though. AotC was a GREAT movie. I'd give it a 7 out of 10 stars. At some points it was just too unbelievable though. Lol. Anakin jumping out of the speeder. Plus Yoda's little stance was totally dorky. It was a serious part of the movie and everyone was laughing. Lol. Still way cool, though.

If so strong in the Force Yoda is, why words in proper order not can he get?

Well, part of the reason Yoda was made like that in Empire Strikes Back was so that he'd resemble some kind of budhist or something.

"Do, or do not do, there is not try" is completely eastern. In fact the whole way Yoda talks about the force resembles eastern religion and myth. That's part of the reason Yodan talks like that. But in AotC he just looks like an illiterate bafoon. Hm...

I thought he was quite strong really. Especially the fighting scene with count Dooku; I mean in all the other movies there was never a fighting scene of Yoda, so I wondered if he was really that strong, and now I've seen it. And there were no scenes where he really made a fool of himself, were there?

:D the part with yoda fighting with a lightsaber was just plain funny cos although he had a miniture lightsaber all u could see was this little furry creature jumping about and doing flips everywhere!

Strength in the Star Wars universe is something that has never been judged by fighting ability (at least not in my mind). Ever since "A New Hope" it's always been about not trusting in the literal, physical world ("In my experience there is not such thing as luck"), to being able to control the weak minded ("These aren't the droids you're looking for"). There was something about Yoda fighting that really cheapened him. If I were half the Star Wars fan I used to be I'd practically cry, but ever since "Episode I" I stopped caring.

Dito.

I agree with everything you said. Lucas had a chance to do something really special with these films and for me he has blown it TPM was a toy advert and this one was corny, it did have one or too moments but mostly cheese, it had no heart no soul.

I didn't think so....Ever since I've watched Episodes IV-VI and I, I've wondered why Yoda is considered so powerful. Here is a jedi master who has taught jedi for 800 years, he's gotta have some phenomenal power.

We see Darth Vader's lightsaber action and Darth Maul's awesome fighting abilities and Qui Gonn deflecting a million lasers, Obi-wan moving this and that and jumping and flipping two stories...Then we see this little green imp shuffling around with a stick and at the most, moving a ship....Big yeehaa. We ask ourselves "If all these jedi are doing these amazing things and are so agile, what CAN this little master, who has basically taught them, do? He looks crippled to me...."

Then we see what awesome power this little guy has and we see how he is "worthy" to be called the ultimate master....I thought it was awesome!

Do you know how bad Star Wars made me want to be a Jedi? I think that Star Wars was a great movie, Excellent! But Lord of the Rings was good in it's different way. Star Wars has more future type thing, while Lord of the Rings seem to be more a medival thing (not saying it was actually in medival times.). I enjoyed both and I really can't say which one was better.

I'd say AotC is the best Star Wars movie made. There was actually some serious action going on (not like in the Episode One) and it wasn't so depressive as Luke's everongoing personal dilemmas.
But it just can't reach to the level of the Lord of the Rings.

Although AotC wasn't as disappointing as tPM, it still didn't live up to the adventures of Luke etc. I thought Yoda was pretty cool, but am I the only one who almost vomitted during the Anakin/Armidala love scenes??

The soppy love scenes were more suited to a Britney Spears movie than Star Wars. Everyone knows they get together, and spawn Luke/Leia, so why so over the top?

the Solo/Leia relationship was obvious in the others, but not so overstated that it detracted from the movie as in in AotC.

I liked A&A lovescenes. That's actually the reason I went to see the movie and that's what I got from the cinema so I was pleased and happy with everything...
I mean, come on, Padme was like a princess from a fairytale and Anakin was so cool as he was turning a bit evil bit by bit...

i havn't actually seen AotC but ive heard its too much of a love story - not enough action and battle scenes but then again im not much for romance. And anyway FotR is the best movie i have ever seen in my whole entire life i hope TTT will be just as good.

ok, i loved both movies. they are both something i could see a hundred times and not get even a little bit bored. they were both good in different ways. and yoda was funny. i mean, he's bouncing all over the place when he's fighting count dooku. and then he graba his cane and starts to hobble and everyone in the theater just bursts out laughing. i did get a bit tired of the love scenes. but it was ok. that was about the best line. when anakin talked about how he had killed the women and children. and when his mom was dying, i was almost crying. it was sad.but fotr was cool too. it was more serious and not so much romance. of course, pippin was funny. the first..........well probably the first hour............of fotr was kinda boring. then when they started their trip, it got interesting. so, i liked both of them. a lot.

The only good things about the AOTC movie were the Jedi and of course Christopher Lee. :)

The acting in it was f'n abismal, even worse thatn the last one. The kid who played anakin in the first one was atrocious, and so american cutesy (that being a bad thing) -boy u.s'ers like their little blond mushroom jerks don't they

LOTR casting on the other hand got a 10/10 from me. I couldn't think of anybody to play any part better. Im australian and it was good to see ozzie faces in the cast (Hugo Weaving, Cate Blanchete) and more to come !! (Miranda Otto= Eowyn, Bruce Spence= Mouth of Sauron).

Being here also, as most of you are also, probably big medieval fantasy fans like me and prefer the feel to FOTR over AOTC's. Theres no way that SW is better!!!. + Lucas has lost his touch, i personally liked his 'Willow' +the original SW movies were 2 times as good. Peter Jackson =bring him on. :D

Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring was definitly the better movie. First off the acting in Attack of the Clones was quite bad; although, it did have some good fight scenes(1 or 2). Also, it had some interesting twists, but does not compare to the Fellowship of the Ring. The Fellowship of the Ring had great acting and it also had more emotion involved. It also had more than one fight scene. The battles were excellent. I could go on and on but I am only aloud 1000 characters.

Look, if you put this kind of thread on a TOLKIEN FORUM, you've got to expect most people to say LOTR! Unless you just wanted to start a little controversey. I must admit, I like to stir up some myself once in a while...

Talimon

That's not necessarily true! I put this same question on a Star Wars site and actually got even arguments from both sides. Not regarding the original trilogy, of course, but regarding TPM and AotC.

I personally loved the original SW movies i thought EP. 1 was just stupid and as for Ep. 2 it started off really slow but Padme kept my attention on the movie for the first half until the action started.

FOTR was also a very good movie and i didn't even know about the books until i saw the movie so while seeing the movie i didn't know what to expect but it caught my attention from the 1st minute to the last and actually motivated me to read the books (normally i hate to read)

also you have to remember that aside from them being fantasy these movies are nothing alike.

ME-OW! I do think LOTR is the best movie there ever was and ever will be, and hate Star wars, but I try to keep an open mind. I've got nothing against Star Wars fans. Take it from their point of veiw. Wouldn't you take offense if someone dissed LOTR? (Retorical question, don't even bother) If you want to be a Star wars fan be my guest. But that won't ever change my opinion on Star Wars. Aren't I just the little defense player? I know. I just don't like gaining enemies (Not that I don't have any, mind you.). That must be the reason I'm so popular :p

The original Star Wars films were excellent. Yet the new ones are abismal-especially in the acting, and casting.

FOTR was a huge success in my eyes, deserving a 10/10. hopefully LOTR will be the great series of the 00's , as Star Wars was in the 80's (i think)

I was never really a BIG SW fan. But, I though that some of them were ok. And I dont really think I like AOTC. I dunno..... ok,
I think that they shouldn't have put out these new ones because they were too predictable. 'Cause if you already saw the first series, then u would know that Anacan doesn't die or Obi Won. And you know that neather Yoda or the bad dude doesn't die. And it was all predictable, in my point of veiw.

Hmmm...kinda hard to choose. I think it's important to point out that these films are from two different genre. Star Wars is futuristic Sci-Fi, whereas FotR is more fantasy based. I gotta say that I really like both films. Can I possibly call it a tie?

Talimon
07-20-2002, 01:25 PM
Actually, all things considered, it's easier to compare these movies with Star Wars then it is to compare Star Wars with Star Trek, as is often done. In essence they are both of the fantasy vein. More importantly they both convey "deeper" messages behind thier epic tales.

Ariana Undomiel

Attack of the Clones vs. The Fellowship of the Ring? That's easy! The Fellowship of the Ring is deeper in story, richer is cinematography, has better acting, a better screen play, better dialogue, and comes from one of the best books of the century. Attack of the Clones had good special affects, but bad acting, screen play, script, and was like an MTV movie that moved so fast that you couldn't enjoy all the detail they had in the shots. I do enjoy Star Wars to a certain extent, but when compared to FOTR, it's pretty shallow and weak.
