The 'I'll take my hand off yer face Sonny!' thread is for those who play the banjo and wish to duel:) ENJOY

I suppose when you whine long and hard enough, you get your own way....
Ok, Mr. Whiner, I challenge you to a personal debate from a lotr or silmarillion Topic.
It sounds like a little kid who has dozen's of toys to choose from, but wants the one little toy that the other kid is playing with.....
What do you say, or do you hide behind little words and sarcastic comments meant at someone in particular, yet you don't mention him.
I will let the guild choose the topic and the side.
The gauntlet has been thrown down. Do you accept or do you yield?

with whom do you address Maedhros?
but i can give you a topic.
how many times did you read "the scouring of the shire before you realized its metafor of social reform, to balance comerse with the delicate equivocalness of nature. this is proved in "flotsam and jetsam"

now i don't know abought you but i am 28 and have been reading lotr since i was 12 and my interpatation has changed with maturety several times, from a great adventure to morals & lessons and finaly ecological awareness. things that were beyond my conception or concern at a juvanile mentalaty are now within the grasp of intelect and my intrust.

Why?
1) I have nothing to prove to you.
2) This has nothing to do with who is smarter than who
3) This has to do with whining about who can be in a guild or not...

You're whining over nothing....There are many forums to impress everyone with your "gauntlet challenging" knowledge of Tolkien....

You miss the issue....Cool your jets, son.

Ladies, Gentlemen and ankle-biters, this is not the thread for issuing challenges or arguing. I suggest you move along elsewhere for that. Though if you wish you may use the confines of Ost-in-Edhil to slap each other across the face with a gauntlet:)

The object of a debate is to pick a topic and sides and have the debaters argue their respective sides and see who has won. (This is done preferably by judges who see the whole argument and in the end give their opinions).
with whom do you address Maedhros?
I address the person whom I quoted in my post.

I thought that this was a debate guild, my mistake. I challenge you because i was tired of your remarks, and since this is a "debate" guild, what a better way to do that. Then again, I was wrong, and now I'm sad that i took this little corner of the forum away from the selected people. In the end, i think that you need your special place. SORRY. ;)

To debate with the goal to improve insight and knowledge: Anytime

To debate with the only goal to see who wins: I can think of better ways to waste peoples time and energy, and of more mature ways too...

Just my two cents...

To debate to make a point, doesn't seems to me a waste of energy or time.
Just my two cents...
Mine too.
P.S. Some things are worth fighting for.

Then, Maedhros, let's just assume you already have won the debate... :)
