View Full Version : Farewell to Middle-earth

Aredhel
06-24-2002, 05:01 PM
After leaving the Senate, she rode up to the doors of Rivendell several weeks later.

A stable boy runs up to her and grabs Asfaloth's reins.

"Is everything prepared?," she asks, jumping off Asfaloth.

"Yes, mi'lady," he says, and leads the horse to a stable.

She walks through the doors, and immediately, the smell of food reaches her nose. She walks on to the Hall of Fire, and surveys it. In the far corner, there is a large stack of gifts to give people. She walks up to her chamber and looks out over the valley, the last time she would do so. She waits for the arrival of the guests.

"Thank you, Nain," she answers," Let's keep it serious. How about a game of darts, using elf arrows of course."

"Come and play some darts. I'll be right back with some arrows," she says to YayGollum. She leaves the building then returns with some arrows in her hands,"Who's going first?"

Elbereth

Elbereth enters the Hall of Fire, she is anticipating a great gathering and is a little disapointed to see only a few have arrived. Seeing Aredhel, she smiles and crosses the room to greet her.

After the joyous exchange of hellos...Elbereth holds out a small radiant silver box with the Star of Valinor symbol etched on it's it's cover.

"Aredhel...in times when your heart yearns for things of old and your mind is filled with memories of this Middle Earth that you love...Open this box, "The Diriel-rin of Valinor" and be filled with joy once again, for this box will allow you to look back on the land you love. But unlike a Palantir...this will allow you to feel as if you were virtually there...and to remember the people and places you held so dear.

The Diriel-rin of Valinor has only belonged to one other in all of its untold history. This very box was once the property of Melian of the Doriath. And she kept it close to her for two ages, until she passed it on to me. This box was the only way she could stay close to the lands she loved so well... and with it she was able to watch over the people she loved so dearly. And now I give this gift to you. Guard it well and use it in good faith."

*Eomer follows Elbereth shortly with a sad face

He greets the other guests and after Elbereth is done

He walks up to Adrehel
"Well the time for you to leave has come, though i wish it didn't. It felt like yesterday when we walked into the Wedding of Valar and Elbereth together, and though it was a short time that we spent together, it has been one of the best i've had in years.
To you Adrehel i say Farewell, and that you take care of yourself, that you never forget me. And so as a gift i give you my necklace with my ring hanging on it"
*Eomer takes off a gold necklace with diamonds and jewels hanging on it. In the middle of the necklace is a silver ring with a diamond carved into a white horse.
"This is a necklace that my father and mother gave to me, before they died. It has been near my heart ever since then. The ring holds special powers, that I myself had put into, it will guard you through your journies and will warn you of evil. It has been near my heart for a long time, and I wish it will stay near yours. Wear this in memory of me, and that you never forget me."
*Eomer takes the necklace and places it around Adrehel's neck
He then stops and smiles, he kisses Adrehel on the cheek

"Farewell, Adrehel, for I will miss you derely and that i hope to see you again, Though i must be going, There is a war going on, Farewell my love"

*Eomer then turns away and heads back to his horse to depart the Rohan

Mirina steps forward, as she was hidden by the shadows.

Aredhel, I have a similar gift to that of Eomer's. Inside is the crest of of the Strongbows. Show it to any of my guard, and you will be admitted to any of my country. Basically it gives you access to ride throughout any of Lorien.

*Gives box to Aredhel.*

Ciryaher entered and approached Aredhel. In the custom of Arnor, he bowed, touching her hands to his forehead. "Greetings, Friend Aredhel! I come in joy, for sadness seems out of place in such an event. After all, you will live in bliss in the Blessed Realm, so why should we weep for your good fortune. Let us rejoice, rather, at the good deeds of Aredhel and her reward of entrance into Valinor!"

He smiles and hands her a shard of jagged crystal. "It is a part of the Palantir of Amon Sul. Unfortunately, it can never be remade, but my experience has shown that these shards give the bearer foresight of things to come...to a slight degree. May it serve you well, in the Undying Lands, friend." He bowed with a step backwards and went to sit down by the fire.

"Oh by the way, the present I got you is one of the finest jewles found in mines these days."

"I want to thank you for your kind gifts everyone, but the time has that I must leave right away," she says sadly.

She says her farewells to everyone present, and gathers up her pack. She calls Asfaloth and she jumps on the white horse. She crosses the valley, and heads West.

After a few weeks of travelling, she arrives at the Grey Havens. There, a white ship that has awaited her is getting readt to depart. She leaves her horse behind and walks up the plank to the ship. The ship sets sail into the West, and just before Middle-earth vanishes from her sight, she lifts up her hand and waves good bye to the place where she had lived for so long. And at lat, she reaches the fair shores of Valinor, one of the few that has done so, never to lay eyes again upon Middle-earth.
