This is the discussion thread for A light in the darkness. Here we'll talk about any OOC stuff.
im really starting to like where the story is going. I lie the whole thing about the stones and all that. I think we could me make it into something reall big.
Recap on the stones
The stones are naturally evil and are all trying to come together so that they can plague middle earth with Darkness, an evil force that blinds all but those who serve it. It can be stopped by destroying the stones but how is unknown until the markings are read. Each stone has a distinct marking and put together the markings tell how to destroy them. The downside is that when the stones are placed together darkness spawns.

You are in Mirkwood with 30 mercenary that were hired to help Vaughn and Smyern find Chel. Vaughn (me) went with one back to the house where Chel was taken from. Vaughn finds out where the dragon is at the house and heads off to where it is leaving 1 mercenary to gaurd the old wounded man. Nain Ironfoot's Army of the Undead is chasing Smyern. (unbeknowst to him but knownst to us)
Vaughn fights the dragon and Javlynn kills it with a bolt of lightning. (or maybe it was just luck) that is where we left off.

I think Everyone should just state where they think they are in the mission. Last I checked my Character is unconscious on the floor of the cave, having just been rescued by the evil dragon. She is under the influence of the evil stones, and she can see when she is in this influence, but only evil things. (She isn't going evil, however).
My char. is wit Chel and is now confused because of what just happened.
(too bad we cant just start over)

My goal, just so you know is to steal the stones and get them together and create the darkness. So now you know that evil will always triumph, because good is dumb! Also, Elgee, I know I can just re-raise the raised dead, but what was that thing where you killed 115 men with some big light, that kind of confused me.:confused:

Chel for a moment accessed the stones evil powers. That is what they are capable of. The Ruler and Maker of the stones (Is that you, Nain? I wasn't going to have a character for him, but you can be if you want to... or you can be just another evil guy after them) wants Chel alive a little longer. He had a vendetta against her people, and as she is the last of them, he wants her to live to see his total victory.

Right Now, Smyern has a stone and Chel has a stone. Chel's stone represents fire. Smyerns stone, Fear. And the last stone, death.

In "Light in the darkness" Javlynn will meet up with his old master. The one who taught him BLK Magic. He will fight him and obtain the BLK Medalion which officially makes him a BLK Mage.

A band of dark raiders has desecrated the site of the Numenorean king's. They dug up the graves of the Ancient leaders and took their remains to battle with them. A small resistance has awoken, (You Me and HLG... Hey that rhymes!) and will stop at nothing to reclaim the glory of the ancient kings and destroy the leader of the raiders, Kri-Amin.

Class-Warrior of Light and Darkness's Bane
Age-28
Gender-Male
History-Born in the Far South, trained by Ghaz-gar in the town of I'lya-Eanor. Family unknown. Assigned to protect Chel by an unrevealed source. By doing so was given the power to defeat Darkness, but was overtaken mentally by it. Conquered Darkness mentally and traveling to defeat him in his full form with Chel, Javlynn and [Smyern],<-(NPC).
Appearance-Long black hair, which is unkept and tangled. Scar on right cheek caused from a knife swung by Javlynn when he (Javlynn) was possessed by Kurayami. Scar on leg from battling orcs and getting hit by an arrow there.
Personality-Silent, but ruthless in battle. Hates all forms of orcs. Known well only by
Weapons-Holy Sword of Fire, Staff, Bow with Fire Arrows (125), throwing knives
Armor-Leather armor that is resistant to Fire. Short spikes on two metal plates over back and chest. Large metal gaurd that extents from right shoulder to right elbow. Reenforced leather leggings and heavy leather boots.

I really think Nain needs to get into this. Perhaps we find out where the stones are, with Nain, and attempt to steal them from his camp in order to destroy them... Or make an attempt to destroy the one we have which just might draw Nain.
How many stones do we have? How many more stones do we need?

I believe we have two... or maybe just one. Kuri. had one but I assume we retrieved it when we killed him. We have the stone of fire and the stone of death. Nain has the third.
Kuri was defeated, not killed. He cannot die! Kuri is a spawn a darkness.

I have an idea for after meeting Jav.'s master. Due to the fact that this RP is doing so well, and we have gotten very far into it story-wise, but not post-wise. I might be inclined to say, "Let's go defeat Darkness."
But we are only 160-70 posts into it, so I think that we may want to begin another sort of journey, maybe to defeat Nain and retrieve the last two stones, but that would counter all we've fought for.We would summon darkness by uniting all three.
We could return to Mirkwood and destroy the mercenaries.
We could return to the hut and get new advice from the old man (Or he could be Javlynn's master, unknown to Javlynn when he was Kurayami).
If you guy's like 'em, let me know. If not, ditto.

Sounds okay to me, though I think unleashing the darkness should be done very carefully.

Yes, but we want to make sure that we don't have it drag on past any semblence of a decent story...
With Nain out do you think we need someone extra to play the badguy? Should we try to draw someone in? I'm sure the Dark Legion has some willing players... to pick up where Nain left off.
Many of my fellow DL members, are busy in a lot of RP's, so they would not have the time. But there are 3 new members that I could contact and aske them to join.

Soon our characters will meet up with Kuri again. But I have it planned so nobody else mention it. And I came up with some pretty good stuff about Kuri. Like he could be called a "Hatespawn" Which Darkness sends to stop us. We could encounter a bunch of "Hatespawn" in our quest.
O and Guys! I think we should each pick up a second char. along the way. We need a decent party of at least 5 guys.

It might be hard to do this far into it, unless we come to a town where we can pick someone up. I hate how people just ride out of the woods wishing to join in some quest. Too much of a coincidence.

The frog is an origenal idea. Personally I think it would be a waste of time killing him, because there are very few ways to seriously and dramatically destory a frog.
I guess we won't kill him.
I dramatically destroyed a dragon (with the help of an elf and Javlynn)

I'm not sure... it seems to me that we should come to some form of conclusion... if only a limited one.
I think it is a stupid idea to even think about stoppin LITD. Our guys have only traveled to three different cities. Thats nothing. I was thinking that soon they will get on a boat and travel to a whole different island.
Leave M.E.!!! Not a good idea. I know that we would bring it to a conclusion, but if we ended it soon, we would have more ideas.

It isn't. It's an inscription with directions for stone destroying, though Ihaven't been able to decide how yet.
Javlynn will make an appearence in LITD2 but im not saying anything else. Its a surprise.

Hmmm... I can't make up my mind! I don't know if I really like that idea or not because the Valar don't mess all that much in ME, but then that might have changed, and Ulmo did mess a little.... I'll wait and see what people say before I say what I think because I really don't know. Personally, I would really like it, but I just don't know if it would be correct, if you know what I mean.
Gru's fate has been decided. :D Should I bring Adelia into the picture yet or should I wait until we have decided what to do?
Then Kurayami could be Sauron returned from his banishment and Darkness Morgoth, maybe.
No, Gru's fate has not been decided. Im takin the role of Gru' till LITD2 and maybe then he can return to the thieves. Until Javlynn comes back.......
We may need you to bring him back before LITD2, but we could work something out.

Or a third choice for Kuriyama... Sauruman. Melkor is locked up and Sauron was destroyed, so I think it would be easier to explain Sauraman's reappearance... of course he doesn't have to be anyone besides himself... just another evil dude with a chip on his shoulder.

I wasn't going to kill Gru', Javlynn! I was going to have him somehow stay in the town with Rawlings or take over the inn or something. I was just saying "fate" for the fun of it! I decided against killing the poor guy. Oh well! :o
Personally, I think he should just be "another evil dude". The story is so realistic so far that I think it would be a little iffy if we brought in some stuff that would probably never really happen. Just my thoughts though.
Ok. good idea. Right now we will probably remain at a standstill until Javlynn gets MSN and we can all chat.
So what happened to the griffons?

I like it a lot Azog! Especially the fog and the light.... It's like the light is breaking up a fog and overcoming the darkness - if you get what I mean. Anyway, it's great!

How close of relatives? Did you read Chel's history? She doesn't really remember her family. She could be a cousin or even sister. It'd be a nice emotional ending... Chel getting reunited with her rich family...

I did read it. Hmmm... a sister? Would that mean that her mother or father would have had to escape the fighting somehow? Perhaps the mother could have escaped and left the woods believing that Chel was dead. She could have then met Adelia's father and married him. We could either say that she is still living or that she died some time ago. This would make Adelia Chel's half-sister. Or, we could just have one of Adelia's parents be the sibling of one of Chel's parents. Just some ideas.

Oh, I get it. Hmmm, in that case, Nenya should be the chief weirdo.
Anyway, any new ideas about the rp? We will soon fight Kuriyami again. But I'm thinkin this time we shouldnt win, just for something different. We should retreat after getting "beat up" and head toward the next "peaceful town". The next town should have no fighting and we should stay there for a while. Just to calm things down for a while. No miracles or oddities. How about it?

We could do that, though it would seem sort of repetitive. I prefer not going to a town but setting up in the woods to await something or other... perhaps under orders from Yan.
We also need to choreograph the big battle. You know, how do we pull it all off... How do the Valar reveal themselves... etc?
So then, we have decided that Yan is definetly a Valar? Well then, in that case how about the fight against Kuri goes on for a while and we get our butts kicked and then Yan just goes crazy and beats the **** out of him. Still making us the victors....for the time being.
I will begin writing the battle scene.

Any additinal info will be put in as we come up with it.

I would hate for that to be the last we see of Crum... I was getting very attached to the little guy. :( What are your plans Jav?

Me too.... sorry to all you weaker stomached people. I tried to make getting ripped up by a wolf as unnauseating as I could. But good 'ol Chel helped me out there. Thx a million.
So....what do you guys think should happen next? I was thinkin maybe....getting swallowed by darkness and appear in a different world or something. I think it should come to a really really BIG part soon.

We do need some action, but bringing another world into it would be hard. In fact it seems extreme. We need to either end it soon via the Valar or throw a nice obstacle in the path...
I dont think we should end it soon. Thats what I think anyway, not unless we start doin the "three days later" type things. Coz if you think about it, our characters havnt really been on this quest all that long.

We have all but one which Kuri has but their power is still the flow of the evil and the evil draws from them no matter where they are. The closer the better of course.
Alright i get it now, but I though that Nain had a stone.
That was stolen by Gru and company.
Oh yea! thats right. I forgot about that, hmph, and I was the one that came up with that conclusion.

The mods deleted it. That's the only thing I can guess anyway. Why? I don't know. :( So, we are either going to have to have one of us play her lover or personally invite someone to play him.
They might have found a thread like that to be somewhat "pointless." you never know :)

Well.... We are in a battle.... Maybe we could run off, leaving Yan there, then we would meet up with him is his true form after he kicked some buttocks.

How about we challange Kuri to a fight in a certain number of days (time to prepare) then we go off to prepare for battle... Aka teaching the girls to fight better and learning about the evil magic.

Might be kind of heartless for us to leave Yan there all by himself... poor guy! Perhaps instead of challenging Kuri to a fight we could have Kuri come out, defeat Yan and ourselves, gloat for a while and then decide to leave us in a pitiful state of exhaustion and defeat? He could take all the stones or something - it would make for a climatic and dramatic ending. We'd have to kill Kuri and get all three stones back. Perhaps in this battle Chel or someone could deal Kuri a blow that would make him succeptible to something that would enable us to kill him in the last battle near the end....

Then Darknes could be summoned and we could have the final battle.
So Kuri is gonne be the final fight? Remember tho, Kuri isn't darkness he is simply a spawn of darkness. Or maybe in LITD2 we could fight darkness itself.
Oh, and I still don't think we should finish LITD yet.

Don't worry! I've got plenty of ideas for us. At the moment I was thinking that perhaps we could have Kuri take the stones from Chel in return for not killing anyone. Then he could leave with a threat and pretend that he's being considerate by saying that he will spare their lives. But of course he would be lying and could leave behind some orcs to finish them off. Of course the orcs would fail and we would then have to find Kuryama, but Adelia's artifacts she gathered from her room could be vital things in finding him, and her knife could be the knife that would deal him his death blow. Just some ideas.
okay, I think I got it. But when are we going to destroy Kuri, that will bring an end and that would not be cool at the moment.

Well, there is no need to kill Kuri yet. He will take the stones and leave. Then we'll still have to defeat a legion of orcs, hunt for Kuri, find his location, go through whatever mess he has prepared, and then kill him. I think we could make it last quite a while longer.
Well, I think we should make the preporation last for a long time. After all, I dont think our characters are ready to fight Darkness or even Kuri.

Well, Vaughn is now going to start playing with fire, and I think Javlynn can come back without the RP ending.
Yea, but what im saying is, it might be a good ending to have him help the team out in the end, and then leave it hanging there, till LITD2

Yeah, he is a pretty good RPer.
Adelia needs to get some special ability as well. I am thinking more towards summons... Maybe the knife could have something to do with it.

I thought Javlyn was going to wait until LitD2 until he reappeared... so that he could go after Adelia instead of Chel without looking flakey because Chel thought he was dead and married someone else... that was the general plan, but I never discussed it with Jav... Just Nenya and maybe Azog.
And I was introducing this guy to eventually sweep Chel off her feet... after a grieving process. If it is against the plans he can change. He is basically a wandering warrior without home or family. He can hear whispering in the wind that leads him from one fight to another. I haven't picked a name yet. He's just the typical mysterious stranger at the moment. I was hoping someone else would take over his character... but I can handle him until then.
Okeyday. I was thinking something else but... both ways sound good.
Yes, Javlynn will return before LITD2.
LITD1 should end with Kurayami, and LITD2 should be Darkness.

What exactly do you mean by "summoner"? What exactly would I summon? And if I were a "spearwoman", would that just mean that I get good at the spear? Perhaps I could be "knifewoman" instead - you know, have hidden knives all over and look innocent until the last moment when my enemies find a knife in their throat.
You do have a very nice halberd given to you by the Valar. ;)
I am a summoner so that idea is already taken, but to answer you question you could summon spirits, dragons, goblins etc.
She would be pretty cool with a halberd. Like staff fighting with a blade on one end (hopefully the end that hits them;)). Adelia would be a pretty cool staff fighter.

Ok we need to decide about this knife thing. My origenal idea was that Orin's father had been stabbed to death by a similar blade or something typical like that... But I'm now going on something more dramatic...
How about Orin has been experiencing dreams where he is attacked darkness and suddenly finds himself with that blade in his hand... and uses it to save his life in the dream but always wakes up before he can finish off whatever is attacking him.
Or maybe he just likes it...
Any way works for me.

Nah, Im saving Jav for LITD2 I have decided. It will be best that way, coz im sick of dying then returning right after...so I will wait. Especially if LITD2 is gonna take place about 10 years after LITD1.
I don't believe so... LitDII will commence immediately after we are finished with one, and what'll happen to Adelia? Will she end up loving Crum?
Well, Im just sick of dying then immediately returning after my so-called "death". So, Im gonna wait regardless of when LITD2 takes place.

I think LITD2 should take place 10 years after LITD1. And all the older characters like Gru' dont have to be in it, since he would be too old. And we could just add some new guys to replace the old ones.
They could remain in II, unless we want to all die and try to destroy Darkness with a new character set... or not!
Hey, I didn't say I wanted them to die! I think in LITD2 we should get rid of Gru' then gain a new character.

He's our Valar in disguise... and he chose an elf because elves are long lived and many suspect them of magic... so he can get away with more as one.
Then again, how would Vaughn, Chel or Javlynn (Not now, but back when he was there) have ever claimed him to be a Valar. All three are human and can use magic. I don't think it is that important.
