Ohh well, could be either: Elgee + Fanatic or Elgee + Maniatic  I really haven't decided yet. Since I'm making a new word I should probably give the exact, accurate definition of it very soon. This kind of things is really hard for perfectionist people like me :D I'm never happy because it'll never be perfect.

Who is a stalker? Elgee? Since when...where was I at during this transition?
HLGStrider

Nah, the closest I come to stalking is watching the Fox Report and fantasizing about getting Shep Smith's number. . .
Wonko The Sane
12-23-2003, 09:16 AM
Oh no...Glory was making up words about people who obsess about Elgee...I suggested that maybe perhaps a better word was stalker. ;)
And RD mentioned he thought HLG stood for "Horrid Little Girl"...but when I first joined I thought Elgee was one of those teeny boppers with the "SexyChica44118" kind of screen names on AIM...and I thought HLG stood for "Hot Little Girl"...hehe. :)
Turns out it was just her initials. ;)

HLG used to be one of the great mysteries of the forum. My best guesser thought that it meant High Lady of Gondor.
Wonko The Sane
12-24-2003, 05:36 AM
Hmm...that's quite an imagination.
Though I will say...after I figured out you weren't that type of person I previously mentioned...
I thought it meant something like "Honourable Lady Green" or "Honourable Lady Gordon" or something like an RPG character.

We're too quirky to care what we're named.. .though I generally come from a family of pretty boring names. My grandfather and his two brothers were John, Robert, and James (Grandpa is James). . .how normal can you get? We never have Archies or Hunters of Algernons in my family.
Wonko The Sane
01-09-2004, 02:45 AM
My dad comes from a VEEERRRY long line of "Wilhelm"s. :) That's pretty unusual.
But then, all my siblings names are normal. So are my mum's and her siblings.
And my dad's sibs all got normal names too.
Though my mum's dad's family had an Anastasia (my great-grandma), a Lupe (my great-aunt, but they called her Loopy), an Erasmo (my great-uncle), and an Emilio (my grandpa). :) You can just smell Spain in the air can't you? :D
Rhiannon
01-09-2004, 06:16 AM
My great grandfather was named Ed. Not Edward. Just Ed. Names in my family are all very normal- Allan, Brad, Rachel, Laura, Jamie, Melody, Scott, William, Diana, and things like that, except for one Donald, a Risa, Suzanne (as opposed to Susan or Suzanna), and me, the really weird one- Charis.
Wonko The Sane
01-09-2004, 07:45 AM
Well, Suzanne and Donald aren't weird names.
Risa and Charis probably are...and Melody's a bit out of the ordinary. :) But I like those names. :)

Sophomoric, witless humor I grant you: but humor none the same.

If you follow the mods around you'll notice they are all differently against off topic posts.
Lanty, Ithy, and Ard are on the tough side.
RD, Beorn, Tal, Mac on the light.
I'm not to sure about the others, so I think they are middle.
It also seems to depend on the thread. A thread like this is "lighthearted." Doing the same to a thread with a "serious" topic is not appreciated.
I don't think anyone will ever be able to make a clear rule on this issue, however. It's like speeding. There are cops who'll let you go 40 in a 35. There are cops who'll get you for going 36.

HLGStrider
01-11-2004, 05:26 AM
Well, I started a new poll in Stuff and Bother. . .
Ulari is gloating over how he has a real Tolkien name as opposed to the rest of us who just make things up and stick numbers on the end.
Everyone in Entmoot is finding loopholes and complaints and good things about the new software.
The mods are busy fixing the loopholes and complaints about the software.
I'm trying to get a blue background, but it keeps switching on me.
Any of that interesting?
Rhiannon
01-11-2004, 05:31 AM
Ummmm....
No, not really. Unless it's a really good poll.
I didn't take a Tolkien name because using character names makes me feel weird. Like I have to live up to it. Also 'Eowyn' was taken and it didn't occure to me to be 'Morwen' at the time (but I bet it's probably taken too), and I was already using Rhiannon elsewhere and it's a cool name.
Let's pick a member and talk about them. Who doesn't watch this thread?
Wonko The Sane
01-11-2004, 07:59 AM
Morwen IS taken.
The cool thing to do is pick an unrelated name and then create themes for different characters. :)

HLGStrider
01-12-2004, 08:20 PM
I never put a mod down as a hardliner without sufficient evidence:
Evidence that Lanty is a hardliner: His post trying to cut down on off topic in my Christmas Card thread.
Evidence that Ithy is a hardliner: The only mod who ever attempted to give me warning points!
Evidence that Ard is a hardliner: the fact that I don't put a y on the end of his name is enough to show you that he is strict.
Though if I had to vote for "strictist mod" it would be Ithy. . .just 'cause.;)

Why are we hitting Arvedui with a sock?
Once upon a time, a thread wandered off into the topic of names. Since this was not the topic intended for the thread, a helpful mod questioned the current activity. Being a person of good humor, the mod requested that someone explain how the topic of names was related to the topic of the thread and hit the mod over the ear with a wet sock.
Enter Rhiannon. Always a seeker of opportunity and enlightenment, Rhiannon questioned whether or not it was necessary to know the answer to the meaning of life- or how the topic of names was related to the topic of the thread, whichever came first- in order to hit the mod with the sock.
The mod, being as mentioned a person of good humor, agreed that since it was Rhiannon it would be permissible, and so the young Rhiannon gleefully set about with the sock. She soon became attached to the sock, and decided to give it a name. She named it 'Frank'. Rhiannon and Frank were very happy together, extending their circle of influence to include other mods, and even the occaisonal errant member! Frank was named 'Best Forum Sock' and was greatly applauded and everyone lived happily ever after except for Larry, Frank's unappreciated mate, who never won anything and sank into a depression and was finally lost behind the dryer after he overdosed on bleach.

Your undying patronage of the Jokes thread could win you the funniest, but I decided to be the coolest a long time ago.

Leave of "prettiest" maybe, and I know who is without a doubt all of the above!
:p
*vanishes again*
Well, I'd have thought you were referring to me, but without prettiest in the fray, I am sure you are not. :D

Haha, thanks for that... I think ;)
I read a hilarious joke yesterday. I think I'd better go and add it :D
Thol is a very special kind of gir- I mean guy.
Didn't he get his hair cut short, so he doesn't look as much of a girl anymore?

Someone actually remembered me? Me...little ole me who hasn't been on this site for weeks upon weeks at a time. Or maybe there is another Elbereth...a new Elbereth who has gained in popularity in my leave...oh say it's not so....:(
I better stop this train of thought before I get carried away with myself.
Thanks if you meant me!!

- Most annoying - Aule
- Most Weasly - Aule (;))
I think the points bin made :D
In the mean time, everyones cool and amazing and funny and **** its all equal. Thats good for two reasons;
(1) I don't have to think of the thousands of people on here who PM me everyday to get in my favours just so i'll name them here...;)
(2) It keeps everyone happy with lil 'ol Thôl, cuz i didn't pick someone over anyone else...:D

The Gloriously Beautiful Elbereth...
The Fabulously Talented Snaga...

The Wonderfully Witty Walter...
The Ever Optimistic Baragund...
The Been-Here-Forever Ciryaher...
The Darlingly Fuzzy HLGStrider...

Most melodramatic: Mirelena

The Fabulously Talented Snaga...That's more than usually kind! *looks suspicious* What do you want??? ;)
Anyway, I'm afraid I don't seem to know you - you must have joined in one of my leaves of absence, but... well met.:) I hope you haven't been reading old posts of mine? - that's so embarrassing its almost rude. If I find people do such things, I may have to delete the evidence of my past misdemeanours. And that would be more time-consuming than I want to trouble with. That's the trouble with a forum. The past hangs like a nightmare. Maybe its better if you tell me that people say nice things behind my back... I will pretend to believe it and then it will save me a lot of effort.

*pats Daranavo on the back* I feel your pain. I'm sorry about the RP thing.... HEY! We've had a recent development (aka, two of our players haven't shown up), so, if you're still interested (as I am), you should be able to join up!
 RHI! OMGoodness!!!!!! Are you coming back, too!? *does happy dance*
Saucy, I envy you. ;) I've never actually 'met' three of the people on the list, but I've heard about them and the Glory Days of TTF.
EDIT: No, Snaga, I am afraid we have never met. I have heard rumors of your talent, I have looked at some of the scary old posts ;) and I will be more than happy to tell you that people say nice things about you behind your back. :p
DOUBLE EDIT: Gosh, I'm stupid.
Most celebrated costumer (is that word?): Rhiannon :)

Well, I can say this. Sewing is tough work. It is not in my wheel house of skills. Not in the least. Its finger numbing, frustrating work. To do something on such a scale is indeed a great accomplishment.
I do not know Snaga either, but to put the old mans fears to rest, I can honestly say that remarks about him(You) have been color quite nicely. Obviously he(You) left a good mark upon the site before you left.
I am always interested in rping, I can not ever get enough.
Snaga
03-14-2006, 01:45 AM
An old man's fears cannot be put to rest, except in the old-fashioned orcish manner. Anyway, I don't fear what people say about me. I could make a good long list of people that I have wronged and surely not all have forgotten it. I hope not... or what would have been the point?
(Actually, it would be helpful if anyone who thinks I haven't insulted them could post it here, and if I think I have, and therefore they've forgotten it, perhaps it would be acceptable for me to say something quite unpleasant about them, but in a 'for the good of the forum'-sort of way?)
No, the real fear is the dreadful posts of the past. *shudders*
(By the way the Daranavo, I didn't miss that 'old man' crack, and I've marked your card!)
Anyway, Great Members who are not mentioned enough.... Aragil, Daisy, Sting, Turgon, Goldberry344, Tar-Ancalime, Tookish_Girl, Legoman...

Snaga, I'm pretty sure that you've never insulted me, if that helps.
Rhiannon :)[/B]
I'm around a bit, though not exactly what you'd call 'active'--this was supposed to be an easy semester, too. Wishful thinking  And costumer is a word, I believe. I think my actual title in the program will be 'costume designer', but what I'm actually doing is more of a 'costume mistress' thing. I'm just about the only person in the costume shop that can actually sew (everyone can do minor alterations and use a sewing machine, but no one else can read a pattern or do complicated things like attach sleeves or make gathers. So I can't tell them what I need and walk away--they do what they can, and then it's all up to me to do the finishing work).
Well, I can say this. Sewing is tough work. It is not in my wheel house of skills. Not in the least. Its finger numbing, frustrating work. To do something on such a scale is indeed a great accomplishment.
It's incredibly intimidating--it's the largest project I've ever done, and the most daunting because if I fail it will reflect on other people; the director, who is my friend, and the theatre itself.
I've also reached the point where I think of nothing except Little Women. It's spring break, and all I'm doing is thinking about Little Women and all of the things that need to be done as soon as I get back to school

Oh darn...you saw through my charade. I guess I won't be winning the Oscar for my performance this year.
Anyway....Daranavo....sorry about the rpg's...I would love to start writing again, but I'm afraid that my crazy work schedule doesn't allow for very much internet time anymore. Heck, it doesn't allow for a lot of me time anymore. That's life I guess.
So a new list....let's see
Most cuttingly sarcastic - tie - Snaga/Aule
Most dedicated to RPG's - Daranavo
Most Flattering - Mirelena
Greatest TTF Comeback - YayGollum

Snaga, I'm pretty sure that you've never insulted me, if that helps. Actually, I called you 'less than wonderful' once.
(OK, actually actually, I didn't. I said it was less than wonderful that you and others hadn't judged promptly in a debate. But, feel free to consider that a horrible personal insult if you wish!:D)
Most cuttingly sarcastic - tie - Snaga/AuleOh, I'll happily defer to Aule on that one. For example, saying you were 'unconvincingly bashful' was not sarcastic at all. I really meant it!:D I'm just the rudest...:o
