Is Legolas (Orli) Hot?

1. 100% (Oh Yeah! He's a hottie!!)
2. 75% (He's kinda cute)
3. 50% (He is OK)
4. 25% (I've seen better)
5. 0% (He is ugly. Harry Potter is cuter...)

Gamil Zirak

You should have posted a poll, but since you didn't I vote he is 4. 25% (I've seen better)

I think that he is 100% hottie. :D

Yet another 'Legolas is so HOT' thread. Will they never end?

Gamil Zirak
08-09-2002, 06:08 PM
I'm afraid they will never end unless Legolas's face is mutalated in TTT. I can only hope though.

Well in my opinion, Legolas is H.O.T ok?
Don't make me cry, please...!!:(
Legolas isn't that bad, I personaly think that his face is not F***ed up, and maybe in your opinion it is.
Oh and, Legolas is the hottest in the fellowship, the others are not so hot...:D (no offence :o ):D
I WOULD DO AnYtHiNg TO HELP IF LEGOLAS' FACE GOT F***ED UP!!

Do you know how many members there are, with the name of Legolas in front of it. Legolas Lover, Legolas Sheila, Legolas Lover 33 and all these I love LEgolas.

Do you know how many people claim to be the wife or girlfriend of Legolas.

Gees this is just rediculous

I can see some peoples annyance about the Legolas threads.Yes I'm a big fan of PJ's Legolas. But I'm a fan of Tolkiens work and books as well.Legolas was always my Favortie character before the movie even came out.

Legolas_sheila
08-12-2002, 06:15 AM
I will never speak of it again...
I always thought Tolkien's opinion of Legolas described him as quite attractive. Also, the illustrations show it too, otherwise PJ's Legolas could have been this fat, ugly brunette with no sence or intelligence whatsoever (Not that he ever was or will be).
I am not saying that Orli/Legolas is soo hot just without the wig and the ears, really PJ's Legolas would be nothing. He is cute with the wig and the ears, I will never say that again though ...:o

I wouldn't be surprised if half his fans are male. Everyone want's to be able to stick someone with an arrow like that.

ROFL

Gamil Zirak

I doubt half of his fans are males, but if they are, they don't post a thread about how hot he is. They post a thread about how they can or wish they can shoot a bow and arrow. It's strickly girls doing this. Besides, do you see any Arwen is so hot threads around here?

Nenya Evenstar
08-12-2002, 04:34 PM
Hehe... this thread was very enjoyable to read. ;) I can definitely see why certain people would get annoyed by the non-stop Legolas talk. From a femail point of view, yes Orlando as Legolas is hot. However, I appreciate the books much more than that! I have read the books I don't know how many times and before I saw the special "Quest for the Ring" on TV before the movie came out I had a perfect picture of how I thought Legolas should look. Imagine my surprise when during "Quest for the Ring" the camera shows an elf for a second. My first thought was that has to be Legolas - he's just like I've always pictured him! The next thing I new, there was the same elf - named Legolas! He's the only person in the movie who fits the picture in my mind of the Fellowship. And perfectly. So anyway, for Legolas lovers, yes Orlando Bloom is hot, but Legolas is Legolas. He means much more to me than just another guy who is hot. He's Legolas. He exists. He always has existed and he always will. That's the great thing about books. :)

Lady Legolas
08-12-2002, 06:58 PM
Hello Nenya welcome to the forum. Like I said before I've always been a fan of Legolas way before this I love Legolas stuff even started. Tolkiens Legolas always meaned more to me then the Actor Orlando Bloom even got casted as him.You are right Legolas is Legolas and always will be to me. But it's also cool that they picked a handsom guy like Orlando to play him. Not all the Legolas lovers just like the PJ's verson of Legolas , Tolkiens Leoglas might mean something to all the Legolas lovers out there. But I can tell you one thing speaking for myself I'm a Legolas fan all the way.I am also a fan of Orlando Bloom as well.

Nenya Evenstar
08-13-2002, 03:45 PM
Hello and thanks Lady Legolas! Yeah, it is great that they had a good-looking guy play Legolas; but however, that's still not why I like him. ;) If I were to see Orlando (with long, blonde hair, of course) anywhere (before or after the movie) I would automatically think, "that's Legolas". He's just how I've always pictured Legolas. Maybe he's other peoples perfect picture too and that's perhaps why so many people adore him. The only problem is that the people who like him so much are mostly all girls...

Legolas_lover12
08-14-2002, 04:54 AM
ok, first of all, i love tolkien's legolas a lot more than PJ's legolas. i'm just glad PJ casted a hott guy to play him. orli is just how i think leggo should look.
and if u don't like these threads ppl don't read them.
and about ppl having legolas in their name. gosh if i knew ppl would judge me like this just because i put legolas in my name, i never would have done it. it's like "oh, u have legolas in ur name so u r stupid and u care nothing about LOTR. u just like orlando bloom." when that is not true. ppl never give u a chance ...gosh ...
and everyone who was talking about having legolas's face messed up and us giving a finger to have it fixed. well i am so mad right now that i would give a finger to see ur face get messed up ...ugh ...

Just to aggrivate some people, I'll put my two cents in. *weg*

I vote 0%. Not only is Legolas seriously ugly, but he was too blonde...*shudders*

And who says Harry Potter isn't cute?! He's an adorable little kid! ;) :D

Hmmm... I really feel like I was the culprit in making Legolas_lover12 mad for some reason. I'm sorry if I said anything! I was just trying to explain why I like Legolas more than any other character in the movie and perhaps give some input on why so many girls like him. :D Seems like I ended up making a mess...

As for the The only problem is that the people who like him so much are mostly all girls... that I said, I'm one of those girls too! :p

Nenya and Confusticated I wasn't mad at you two, both of you are cool with me. What got me upset mostly was that the person that made this thread was new to the forum and some poeple just came in and bit her head off about making a Legolas is hot thread. lol - I see, that's why you didn't answer... :) An RPG is a Role Playing Game. You get to be a character and you basically play along with other people (who are the other characters) and you get to be in a different world and make up a story. It's a LOT of fun! Check out the Role Playing forum and you'll get a better grasp of what it's like.

Yes, I'd have to give the guy a 100% - the way he moves in the films, and the overall look. Maybe I'm predjudice because I loved Legolas long before Orlando was even born!

You know, if you like photos of him, there are several places. There's the quintessentialwebsite that has the books by chapter with photos (and Fran is very good at art-sy-ing out print that might otherwise ruin a photo) Quintessential (http://www.quintessentialwebsites.com/lordoftherings/home/index.htm)

then there's my humble work in progress - this is directly to Legolas Page 1 (http://www.spaceports.com/~albion/legolas1.html)

and not to be forgotten: Council of Elrond New Pictures Beware of Spoilers (http://www.council-of-elrond.com/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=117&perpage=30&pagenumber=1)

I can't get enough of this stuff!

kazren
09-12-2002, 05:59 AM
Well,NE, I was heavily into a RP-er, but I'm kind of a Tolkien purist, and when people starting having little Anime characters flittering about, it really was ridiculos. And then there's the teen boys who wanted to play the bad guys and hack and slash everything. You will need to set firm ground rules and monitor posts that really trash the storyline people are trying to write.

Nenya Evenstar
09-12-2002, 06:07 AM
Thanks kazren! I'll keep that in mind! But did you see the start of my story line? I'll make sure that this one goes into the Lighthearted section. Uhh... and elf who was kidnapped and whose new mother (a human most likely, but it was a dwarf) bent her ears so that she didn't know she was an elf? Pretty pathetic - it was just a spur of the moment thing. Probably something that people will have more goof-off time that not. Maybe we should change the story line! :D

Hey, Nenya, I just disovered that "Evenstar" is Arwens necklace, the one she gives to Aragorn! (in the film, I guess Galadriel gives it to him in the book)!
So, I don't think "Evenstar" means the same as "Undomiel"...

And as for FRP, definitely count me in!!!:D

Okay, let's get this straight from the books. "Evenstar" is the same as the Elvish Undomiel - it's what they call Arwen. In the book she gives the necklace to FRODO at the very end and indicates it will help him with the pain of his wounds. And it does.

I don't understand why those who love the movies and the characters don't read the books. Could someone explaine?

Nenya Evenstar
09-13-2002, 05:36 AM
Ugh! kazren! Don't just jump on people because they are not all that familiar with the books - besides, I can see why Millena would think the way she does. Not everybody is as into the books as lots of people are, and that's perfectly ok! Some people don't find Tolkien interesting (I don't understand this myself, but it doesn't bother me that certain people feel this way), and therefore like the movie better.

Millena here's a quote:
So it was that Frodo saw her whom few mortals had yet seen; Arwen, daughter of Elrond, in whom it was said that the likeness of Luthien had come on earth again; and she was called Undomiel, for she was the Evenstar of her people.

Also:
"A gift I will give you [to Frodo]... But wear this now in memory of Elfstone and Evenstar with whom your life has been woven!" And she took a white gem like a star that lay upon her breast hanging upon a silver chain, and she set the chain about Frodo's neck. "When the memory of the fear and the darkness troubles you," she said, "This will bring you aid."

Also, Millena is right about Galadriel giving Aragorn something in Lorien.

Then she lifted from her lap a great stone of a clear green, set in a silver brooch that was wrought in the likeness of an eagle with outspread wings; and as she held it up the gem flashed like the sun shining through the leaves of spring.
That's the gift Galadriel gave Aragorn. ;)

Ok, now about the RPG: Yes, you HAVE to make up your own characters - that's a must. :) I don't really think it would be any fun to have a bunch of Legolas's running around... But anyway, I'll get it set up ASAP in the Lighthearted RPG section. I'll let you guys know when I set it up, and please join! Just one question though - do you guys think I should keep the story line the same?

First of all, I read the books some time ago, and can't remember all the details (I've read it once so far), and I've seen the film just reacently, so I guess it was much easier to remember that scene!
Second, I read the books in Serbian, which means that "Evenstar" was translated, I guess into "the evening star", so I couldn't quite understand the expression "Evenstar"
Third, I DID ask Nenya (or anyone else for that matter) if I was right or wrong!!!
And as for last, you can't jump to conclusions just like that! some peple DO like the film, and DO like the characters and have actually READ the books, but not for 10 times or so!!!

And Nenya, thanks a lot for defending me!:D
That's what the fellow Mithril Knights should do!:D

And as for everyone : I LOVE THE BOOKS AND TOLKIEN!!! Why do you think I would be here, anyway...

Nenya, are you planing on making some FRP (RPG, whatever)? If you are, you have to count me in!!! I ADORE FRP, and really miss playing it...all of my friends have no time...or just don't want to play it...And I love the D&D system...And is there a better world than this?!
We played once FRP in Tolkien's world with a pool-table... why the pool table? Well, don't you think that Saruman was bored in that big tower of Orthanc, all alone... He had something to do with that pool-table... I wanted to put a pinball machine, but everyone looked at me with strange faces...I wonder why...
But, they at least let me put in a pool-table for poor, bored Saruman...:D :D :D
I promise I won't do anything like that anymore!;) :D

Ok, maybe it'll be a lot longer than I was expecting before I get the RPG up and running - I don't know what I'm doing yet, and that's the truth. But, I will post back here once I figure it out. I'm confused and trying to brainstorm!

Some people don't find Tolkien interesting (I don't understand this myself, but it doesn't bother me that certain people feel this way), and therefore like the movie better.

Well, Nenya, I didn't think asking why people didn't read the books was 'jumping on people.' I think you're reading into my words intentions I did not have. What is offensive about that? There are people out there, I know some are friends of mine, who swear they loved the FOTR movie, but have never opened the books and have no intention of doing so, and when I ask them why, they can't really say.

So I am curious. That is not the same thing as 'jumping on people.' Have any of you read "The Four Agreements"? One is not to make assumptions. I try not to do that, I ask questions instead.

Sorry that I jumped on you kazren! :) I guess I misread what you were saying, and took it all the wrong way. Your post just seemed a little, well, blunt and not very nice. No, I haven't read "The Four Agreements". Anyway, sorry for biting your head off! :) Peace!

how about we start the rpg by using our original conversation? About elf ears and being an elf

ms Greenleaf
09-15-2002, 09:03 PM
Another thing i liked about elves (yes this is off topic) is
there yearning to go to the ocean, I mean if you have
ever been to the open ocean (harbours and bays do not
count) and see the breakers it really calls to you (me
anyway) Ps if middle Earth is europe then the elves went
to Canada

Nenya Evenstar
09-15-2002, 09:55 PM
I've got a problem about starting the RP soon because I found out that you can only be in two RP's at a time. I'm already in two right now, and I've got one that is on the way. One of them is almost done, but then I've got one that is just starting and one that is somewhere in the middle. So, when I get finished with these RPs I'll do this one. :( I'm sorry guys... it'll happen someday though. :D And yeah, we'll keep the story. :) I guess we're just going to have a lot of time to brainstorm!

BTW, ms Greenleaf, I'm guessing that you're from Canada? :D

Melian Le Fay
09-16-2002, 10:14 PM
That's strange, I could'n help imagine Elves sailing to Canada... Weird, right?
But their love for the sea is what amazed me when I was reading the books! It's somehow, you always imagine Elves in forests, loving trees, etc. I guess that's how they're portrayed in mythology... But elves and the sea?!!! So unexpected, yet so beautifull....

Legolas_lover12
09-17-2002, 02:15 AM

Nenya Evenstar
09-17-2002, 04:18 PM
That's exactly what I was thinking, ll12. :D But actually, the elves went somewhere else - remember how the waterway to Aman was moved and bent so that only elves could find it? I believe that elves still exsit somewhere out there in Aman, and if we were like Earendil with a Silmarill strapped to our brow we might just find the path and see the mountains of Taniquetil shining in the sun with our own eyes. :)

I'd say I'm a pretty much a logical person (thank you very much, Mr. Spock!), but, while I was reading Tolkien's books, I somehow felt like he was talking about our own world, about things that happened long, long time ago, so long that our memories of it do not exist anymore...
Every legend, myth or story has a small part of truth in itself. Everything starts from truth. And all our myths about elves, and wizards... Where do they coma from? Logically, it can be explained that these myths are personifications of our wishes and desires, and some primitive explanations of the world around us... But the world or our psyche are not always logical...
Who knows?
I guess the dreamer part of me wishes there might be something in all this... But logicity demands that such things do not exist.
But logic is boring.
And dreamers go where no man has gone before...

OK, OK, I've been wathing the Star Trek just a while ago, but still, I mean all I wrote!

Nenya Evenstar
09-18-2002, 11:27 PM
Well, I've been thinking a little over a day now about how I should reply to Confusticated's post. To tell you the truth, I never even thought about what I was writing - it just came out. I found out with a shock yesterday after reading your post that I have basically begun to believe that Valinor really does exist. I never believed that before, but I have begun to now. This belief has just crept into my very being, if you will, and I don't think that I can stop it now that it has started. Confusticated, I'm glad that someone else is out there who is obviously as insane as I am. Oh, where has my sanity gone? :)

Now I must be logical, for as Spock says, "Jim, life is not a dream". My logic says that no, there is no Valinor, but my will and my heart do not say that, and I don't think they ever will. I am in fact getting a little afraid of my thoughts here because I do not want to think any other way. I really, truely want to believe in a Valinor and in elves. Oh well! What can I do? I've been completely infected by this idea, and I'm proud of it! :D

Legolas_lover12
09-19-2002, 03:13 AM
i have always believed that everything in ME used to exsist!!! and i'd rather be a dreamer than listen to my logic:

When we believe in our dreams, they can carry us to the stars

Melian Le Fay
09-19-2002, 11:03 PM
But maybe there are two worlds, two dimensions: the one we perceive with our mind, logic, and the other inside ourselves... And everything we imagine, becaomes a part of that world... some philosophy, huh?
And, Confusicated, could you explain yourself a bit more...?

But girls, i think we may have strayed off the topic a bit, don't you think?

So, let's go back to it!
Who thinks Legolas is hot in the FOTR?
I do!!!!!;) :p :D :D

Nenya Evenstar

Ok, yeah yeah, Legolas is hot. What's new! :D ;)

Confusticated, wow! I can see how much harder it would be for you to really believe this stuff. I'm a Christian and already believe in a God, so it must be a whole lot easier for me to believe in Tolkien's world than you. Isn't Tolkien amazing how he really, truely makes us believe this stuff? What would the world be like without him!

aBout why I think the elves went to Canada, Number of reasons
yes I am CANADIAN
I do not think the Us cause its too commercial.
Canada is very scenic and the land and oceans are wild. There are lots of trees
i have to beleive that I am part elf ( I know I am insane)
There are a lot of natural reserves. It would be damn useful to be able to walk on snow if you live in Canada.
To live in minus 40 degree wheather we must be magic.

Oh and I know a lot of people with the ear thing happeneing.

also....... there is alot of wild life

and---- some more ideas people i am running short

I don't know what it is literally called because my dumb mind is all hazy about that! I forgot too much of what I read in the Sil! But anyway, you know how the Valar bent the world or whatever so that there was no longer a direct path to Valinor? That's what I meant! I am reading the Sil again so that soon I won't have problems like this. Yay!

ms Greenleaf
10-01-2002, 12:46 AM
no but it would make a great argument i meen really they could have gone to China for all we know so come see the Thread<<Please>> It was pretty good I thought but I am biased so hey. ps if the elves went to Canada they may have migrated over tto the us

Melian Le Fay
10-01-2002, 11:21 PM
I can help you a little with this bent-stright path....
Once the world was "streight" (I don't know wether he ment literally, or not), but Men couldn't reach Valinor because it was hidden. Well, Earendil could, because of the silmaril, you know that. But, when Numenorians tried to qonquer Valinor, both the Valar and God destroyed them and Numenor as well (it sank), and God made the world round, and put lands in the west, but those were just ordinary lands, which men also explored while trying to reach the place where Numenor once was. But Valinor was set also in the west, except that west was something like "another dimesion", and only the STRAIGHT path led to it, while the other, "ordinary" west could be reached by a curved, bent path, since the world was made round.
And Elves and some others could only reach valinor, they were the only ones who could sail the straight path....and thus they sailed into legend... :(

hope this helped!

and as for the Canada - USA debate...well, guys, as you can see it, your lands stand on the bent path... but valinor is there somewhere, above you...in other circles of the world....

Nenya Evenstar
10-02-2002, 01:17 AM
Yeah, that helped. Thanks for the memory refresher. I just read the part in the Sil. about the Valar hiding Valinor by placing the enchanted Isles between ME and Valinor. I agree with your whole last part - that's why I'm so sad that elves aren't here anymore. :(

Melian Le Fay
10-05-2002, 08:37 PM
It's very interesting how people can't help comparing (at least geographicaly) ME to Europe, and Valinor to America... I've also compared ME to Europe, but for me America, no matter how beautiful it is, is always some ME-like country...
Should I go to the "where the elves went" debate and shatter their dreams of ever meating elves...?;) :p Nah...that'd be cruel...

Nenya Evenstar
10-05-2002, 09:03 PM
Well, you know, it's only in fun. Of course the elves didn't go to either America or Canada! That would completely contradict everything that I believe and everything that the Sil. says. Oh well! It's fun to do "What if's"!

Melian Le Fay
10-05-2002, 10:19 PM
Well, maybe we Europeans should make a thread "where Mirkwood is"... We might dig out some Elves here , too!!! :p :D :D

Nenya Evenstar
10-05-2002, 10:31 PM
And then those people from New Zealand who think that NZ is ME would argue that they have the whole thing and Europe has none of it....

Melian Le Fay
10-06-2002, 10:55 PM
But then Australia would be Valinor...
Or maybe... ME is in another dimension, paralel to our own!!!! :p :D

Nenya Evenstar
10-07-2002, 04:42 AM
I like that idea better than any yet... Planet Earth can't be ME now, can it because ME still exists! :p

Melian Le Fay
10-07-2002, 09:33 PM
That's part of my fantasies about ME... If it really were there, and you somehow, by some strange cosmic chance, entered that world...Ahhh!!! To be a plainswalker! ;) :o So, maybe Tolkien secretly entered that world and that's how he explained it so well!!!;)
(this I should write in your thread)
But, of course, it takes only good imagination to invent such world... Imagination, or being in such world!!!! ;) :p :D

OK, OK, I should stop with this...

Nenya Evenstar
10-07-2002, 10:01 PM
lol - go ahead and post it in my thread! It's kind of dead anyway and could use some revival. That way we wouldn't have to bother this sacred thread with such frivolous chatter that isn't at all on topic. Hehehe... My thread is waiting! :D

Actually acting wise aragorn and Gandalf and Gimli outshone Frodo and Legolas...Legolas said little mind you...unfortunetly I do not see people out wooing Gandalf...JMO mind you if you want him... anyways HARRY potter is a good book not as good in my opinion as TLOTR mind you the movie of TLOTR is also ALOT better than Harry Potter partially cause older actors have a easier time associoating w/their roles because they can use situations in their lives to relate to,
