I just noticed that this is what the big G is singing as he drives his carriage through Hobbiton, at the beginning.

It's not how I imagined it, but it's not a bad tune!

I thought it was wonderful that they added that in. Gandalf's singing it was pretty good too! Did you also happen to hear Bilbo singing it as he walked away from Bag End after the party?

let's just hope more singing is to come :D there are so many songs in the books which deserve to be brought to life...

perhaps a poll is in order? Which song out of the books would you most like to hear, mayhaps? i dunno, i'm afraid that if i post it, it won't be read :(

Bilbo and Gandalf singing The Road Goes Ever On was very appropriate and almost cute. I loved it...and it showed very well how Bilbo's become a pottery old hobbit who likes a fire and neatly-brushed toes. :p

How could it be — it was written by Howard Shore. But — have you ever heard the tune (for it and other things Middle-earth) that was composed for it many years ago by Donald Swann?

I shall see what I can do — give me time to consult with my secret sources... **grabs traveling cloak and hood, runs off into the night**comes back several hours later with clothing torn, breathing hard**

It took some doing, but I think you might be interested in these ancient scrolls:
