When Elrond talks of his people leaving Middle Earth, he means that they will leave that continent and sail to Valinor, which is another continent across the ocean.
Valinor is where the Valar live and where most of the Elves travel as they grow weary of life on Middle Earth.

all of that kind of information is probably in the back of all my tolkien books. what else do you know about the valor? and why are they not involved with middle earth? are there any other continents?:confused:

I think I understand your question.
1) The expression "Middle Earth" was not created by Tolkien, it dates to Middle Age literature and, I think, refers to Earth being between heaven and hell;
2) When Numenor fell, Valinor was removed "From the circles of the earth" and placed in another dimension. The elves leaving Middle Earth are given the grace to not follow the curvature of the earth, but to travel the so-called "straight road" and travel to Valinor, but mortal men are doomed to just sail on to the boring old New World. Basically, Valinor has been removed to another dimension which is separate, and yet intertwined with our world.
Does that answer your question?

Well since no one else is going to say it.......
What's outside Middle Earth?
Why, Left and Right Earth of course.
what else could it be?

Actually, Middle Earth, like a lot of Tolkien's terminology originates from Norse mythology. There, Middle Earth or Midgard is where humans live, surrounded by the realms of Giants, Elves, and of course the Gods, among other people. There are quite a few different 'gards' in Norse Mythology and I can't remember the rest. But Midgard is the earth as we humans know it.
