I have been appointed by our illustrious and new co-Supermoderator Ancalagon to convert this place into a new guild. It is no longer affiliated with the Tolkien Scholars Guild. We will be a guild open to all candidate who show an interest in the lore and works of J. R. R. Tolkien.

One should understand that all are welcome to join but in order to gain elevation in the guild (guild status) one must demonstrate their Tolkien knowledge. We will do this by administering regular tests on all Tolkien lore from Hobbit, LotR, Sil, UT and HoMe. If you aren't willing or able to paticipate in say HoMe tests, it will in no way effect your membership but will effect your status within the guild. I will be coming up with a guild class system which will be structured similar to the forum's with additional classes.

Being somewhat vain and egotistical, I have appointed myself Guildmaster and Grand Master Tolkienologist. My Guildmaster status is permanent (unless I abdicate) but anyone smarter in Tolkien lore than I may usurp my Chief Master Tolkienologist status.

I look forward to many members joining and participating in our guild. I would request that no person request membership here who are affiliated with another debating guild, such as the Ost-in-Edhil or the Guild of the Periaur or the Guild of Tolkien Scholars. Unfortunately, one of the rules of our guilds is that you belong to no other debating guilds. This is done not to restrict member involvement but to assure that members aren't caught in a situation where they would have split loyalties.

Ahh great does that mean we will be able to debate against other guilds?

Also can I say that the system sounds fantastic. But could I comment that the highest rank for knowledge should be Grand Master rather than Chief Master, I dont know it just sounds better IMHO. A one man position that can be contested for.

Indeed. It all sounds very good. But, I also would like to mention the existence of people like me (people naturally able to argue any side of any argument). For instance, were I a member of another debating guild (though I'm not), I would argue both sides - Against myself, if neccessary. I think you'd be surprised how seriously I take arguing, and how skilled I can be at arguing with myself. I have spoken.

Oh, and by the way... When can I take the test? I really want to...

Glad you have such a high opinion of yourself, Khôr.
Anyway this 'thread' is over a year old, and didn't, imo, warrant another post. This is more like a souveneir from the beggining of the GoT, and an announcement, than a thread..
