just seeing if theres a connection between pro/con PJ and when you read the books. i personally read the books for myself after i saw the movie. my mom read the hobbit and LOTR to me when i was little but i didn't remeber all of it. so i kinda had a split before and after the movie kinda deal.

and just seeing about you guys so...... when you read the books, before or after the movie. and pro or can PJ............................ and anything else you have to say about the subject.

The first time i read the books was in the 80's, and ofcourse i love them:)
And i really like the movie, its not 100% Tolkien accurate but if you can get over that its a bloody good movie!! I for one can't wait to see TTT! And i don't expect every dialouge or scene to follow the book 100%.

My father read the book to me back in the early 90's and I have been waiting for movies to come from it ever since.

Before the movie came out I read the Hobbit and LOTR both for the first time and then when the movie came out on VHS/DVD I saw it for the first time and after seeing that I was inspired to read the books again.
So then I read the Hobbit and LOTR again. and I plan to read it every year from now on.

I read the books long before the movie came out,but I probably wouldn't have heard about them, were it not for Bakshi's cartoon, which I loved as a kid (and now also).

The book is far superior and i hated the first film i am refusing to see the two towers film as it is a disrespect to a great author personally i think they should of done the books in the 6 parts that way they could of had all the charechters and the full story

I read the Lord of the Rings before i saw the film and when i heard that the film woz being released i told ALL my friends to go to see it. They didn't think it woz that great so from that i think its far better to have read the book first coz then you can truly understand and admire wats goin on!! i loved the bit when Bilbo said, "i feel stretched, like too little butter scraped over bread" (not EXACTLY the qoute but bloody well near it!!). when i watched the movie in the cinema i knew EXACTLY that Bilbo woz going to say that. pretty class i must say!

I read the books about 3-4 years ago, and of course, have been a fanatic ever since. I was so excited when I first heard that new line was making them into a movie. btw, anyone going to the midnight showing on the 18th?

I read the hobbit 2 years before the movie, tried to read FotR a few months before but I found it boring when I got to bombadil so I stopped, saw the movie, read the trilogy in 4 days. :D

Im going to see it on the 20th. Maybe at midnight though

My experience is like Anamatar IV

I read LotR many years back.. found it a bore (sorry).. maybe I was not used to the English used in the book..

Watched the movie.. WOW too great.. definately one of the best (if not the best) movie I ever watched..

Follow on to read TTT (about 3 times now).. and Return of the King (about 2 times..) in the last few months..

PS: DO not watch the movie for the sake of finding out the differences.. watch it to enjoy.. :p

We don't watch to find them out; they find US, jump out of the screen and punch us!
