Mithril Knights RP (private): Discussion

okay-heres the discussion thread of our Mithril Knights RP. Heres the story:

Gondor is constantly fighting orcs that assail Minas Tirith. These orcs are bigger, stronger, and more fearsome than uruk-hai. The Mithril Knights, who have a hidden fort in Ithilien see the "uruk-ghash (orcs of fire) running by their fort towards gondor. Their army is all over the place though, so they cant attack them. Every night, heavy footsteps are heard a few feet away from the fort. Every night gondor is attacked. The brother hood of knights decide to ride to the east to spy on these creatures. One night, while they are riding close to mordor there are 2 flashes of blue light in the mountains. A great tower is raised there. In that tower thousands of uruk-ghash are created. The mithril knights spy some more and find that the mysterious blue wizards have raised the tower and started this. The men of harad and umbar and khand have joined legions with them. The story starts with the brotherhood observing the blue wizards raising the tower and thousands of orcs pouring out of the mountain. Each time one comes out a blast of blue fire can be seen in the mountain (hence the name uruk-ghash). The brotherhood then ride to gondor to inform the king of his peril. Messangers ride from gondor to get aid from any who will come.

Magic: yes. it gives him senses, strength in fighting and endurance. he can sense evil and also has strong healing powers. He has the ability to dissipate magic before it hit him, i.e. if someone tries to throw a fire ball at him or hold him still with magic he would be able to absorb the fire ball and they would not be able to hold him still. his sword (Aicanáro) is also magical. it will never break or grow dull. It is one of the sharpest swords ever made. and it will shine with a blue/white flame in his wrath or grow dim in his despair. It also guides it's blade towards evil while in combat and shies away from allies.
Weapon: sword, Bow, two daggers, five throwing knives(he caries many more in his pack, but normally only wears five)
Appearance: is average in height for a Elf, has Long gold/brown hair. blue eyes. he is usually dressed in light elven or mithril mail covered with a elven cloak (like the ones of Lothlorien) or completely in black.
Personality: Good sense of humor, is normally light-hearted though he can be a very serious person when he needs to be. He is always to trusted, likes to take leadership, is easy going. and almost always keeps his cool.
History he was born early-mid Second Age. His parents where both killed in the wars with Souron. After his parents death Cirdan(his uncle) took him as his own son and tot him every thing he could. As time past he was found to be very trustworthy and stouthearted and so was given the name Sandaórë. He also became the most skilled Elf in fighting that Cirdan had yet seen. Until this time he rarely left the Havens except when he was needed else where, but he has recently grow weary of the Havens and left to try his hand in the world. His travels soon brought him to Gondor where he joined secret army know as the Mithril Knights.

History: Has not yet forsaken ME, but decided to stay and help clean up what Sauron left behind. Lived in Lothlorien during Galadriel's reign, and stayed there until becoming a Mithril Knight.

Creations: None
Powers: Is not familiar with the term "magic" and does not understand the word. Can do what elves do.

hey, I just thought of a creation. It's a Peregrine Falcon that can shape shift. It can change from the size of a normal peregrine falcon to when standing coming up to about the height of Galdor's shoulder. it communicates with Galdor telepathically. Making a great scout when small and a powerful fighter when big. What do you guys think?

okay-it seems that we are using other beings to freely. Im happy with the chicken riders and everything else as long as it is in moderate form but the eagles is something im not sure about. After the destruction of sauron eagles flew into the west aswell. I do not remember where i heard that but i remember it. Its good that youre all thinking but itd be kind of easy to win if we had eagles and thousands of chicken riders. Right? Also the uruk-ghash are brave warriors. they dont exactly flee. If you want a creation like a falcon or something like that please have it in moderate numbers. Like galdors. Only one. ill let you go until 30 of not-easily-killed creations. The minis have been dying so id say theyre an exception. Thank you.

Ummm... Is it just me or is everything happening in fast motion? I mean, in actuality it probably takes at least a day or two to reach the bridge by Osgiliath, and it takes quite a few days to get to Ithilien, and many days to reach Mordor. It just doesn't seem all that realistic to me...

well its about 1000 years after LOTR so probably many more bridges were built. Also id imagine that while elves dwelt in ithilien they enlarged it. Also where did we say we were at mordor? The tower was being raised in ithilien.

You and Isildur went to Mordor to check things out at the very beginning. Yeah, more bridges could have easily been built, but Ithilien was directly on the other side of the Anduin in any given direction. It couldn't be enlarged east or west because it was surrounded by mountains and water... but anyway, I was just suggesting that we have things happen a little bit slower... It seems kind of hard to have a bunch of armies be made and then reach Minas Tirith within the next hour... ;)

Some people have been refering the uruk-ghash as diferent species than orcs. They are the exact same things. The wizards only make uruk-ghash orcs.

Yes, but they met me in Ithillien, and we all went to the place where the other tower was built.

But things ARE happening very quickly. Bridges or no bridges, it still takes a bit more than an hour to reach Ithillien from Minas Tirith, or for the Orcs to reach it so quickly...
And, Anamatar, you never said that this is happening 1000 years after the War of the Rings!!!

A-anamatar over heard isildur. "Tis a spy. A spy from mordor. A bird of great speed and of small stature." anamatar stopped for a moment. The other knights did so as well. He took out his short knife and started walking more slowly.

B-Nenya looked in the direction Isildur was gazing and stopped suddenly. "Be quiet!" She hissed to those around her. "Do not move!" In a whisper she answered Isildur, "It is a shape clothed in black and with a face that is a pale white. It has two horns coming out of its head upon which I can see blood." Nenya grimaced. "Its eyes are an evil yellow and appear to be looking for something. It has a mouth which hangs open and vampire-like teeth." Nenya shuddered. "Do not look too long into those eyes! They are death!" She turned ever so slowly around to the company and motioned for them all to hide. She seemed very concerned and wary

Ugh... do I feel like I just commited a crime or what! I feel pretty bad.... I actually thought that maybe the creature could see us, we could try to kill it but it would get away and then report our presence to the blue wizards. We would then not be completely unexpected when we reach Mordor, and that way we could run into some messy stuff.... maybe the Blue Wizards could even be creating some more of its kind.

I was thinking about using dragons myself. but if we use Balrogs you have to remember that Balrogs are not breed. They are Maiar like Gandalf is, and almost all of them have been killed.

Have you read the Sil? Balrogs are Maia that served Morgoth and took upon them selves the form of fire demon, just like the Wizard took upon themselves the form of old men when they came to ME. And I just posted in the rp, Galdor is standing right next to you now.

yes i read the quenta sil. But orcs came from elves! Now the wizards have orcs being made in a mysterious way and maybe they have made a few balrogs that way too. Remeber how we saw some wizards start to raise a tower? huh huhuhuhu?:rolleyes:

Ummm... it's just my opinion, but I really think we should keep the Balrog stuff limited here. If it is a true Balrog all of us will be dead before too long. First of all, it's quite impossible to make Balrog's as they are actually spirits (or Maia, if you will), and it's not possible to recreate Maia. Dragons, too, are a little iffy. Morgoth first made the dragons, and I think that it would be extremely hard for a mere Maia to make something equally as well as his master. If we must have something like that, then at least use your imagination and create something different and with some flaws of some sort so that this RP isn't completely unrealistic. I find it hard that we can create new things (it's fine if we say that we twist already existing creatures), but to create things like dragons and Balrogs is almost impossible. Sauron didn't even make any new creatures for himself! He only twisted! Just my opinion though.... I don't want to step on anyones toes, just tell me to be quiet and I'll be happy, or just listen and agree.

We already have the balrog thing going so I'd say lets just say it was the least of the balrogs, there for making not quite so powerful. And no Nenya we all wouldn't be dead, a elf took on Gothmog the greatest of all the balrogs alone and killed him, though he was killed himself. But this isn't Gothmog we're fighting here, and Galdor is a powerful elf and Anamatar is a pretty powerful man. So I think we have a good chance of killing it and living to tell about it.

Well, you could say that Morgoth bred somesuch beast, but it never exactly came out into the open until now... it would work if we stretched it....

I guess we are fighting THE Balrog. I never did fully believe that that thing in Misty Hollow was really a Balrog, but a wizard of some sort who was able to change his outer appearance. I don't believe Balrogs have that ability. Sure they are both Maia, but I never considered the wizard person to be a Balrog. But anyway, I'm confused about what I'm supposed to do about you mentioning it....

We already have that beast thing that we fought with earlyer, so imho I don't think we should add any more unown beast from the first Age.

I agree. The beast thing doesn't really fit into the whole scheme of not creating anything new. :rolleyes: Oh well. So we have dragons, Balrogs, weird beasts, and whatnot. It's a lighthearted RP, so it really doesn't matter.

That's why we must twist creatures - not make new ones. The Ringwraiths were twisted men. We just need to think about what kind of creature these weird beast things I created were made from. That way they won't be from the First Age or anything.

the elves and rohirrim and dwarves have already reached gondor right? Because apparently a HUGE army with both dragons and the balrog that didnt die and many orcs has massed. An army has come up to get us so do we be held captive after a valiant fight? i think that sounds good.

Yeah, being held captive sounds good to me! I believe that we've given the summoned peoples enough time to reach Gondor. What about Arnor? I mean, Aragorn re-established that kingdom when he became King. Should we say that men have been summoned from there too, or are they fighting their own battles over there? Perhaps we should make it so that they have to stay because I'm sure that Mordor would occupy more than one people at once....

Oh, this is just great!!! I'm gone for three days, and already you guys have entered Mordor, fought a Balrog, got injured, this one has a broken arm, the other one is unconcius... It looks like I was eating peanuts in the cave while you were fighting!!!! <grrrrrrr......>

I have an idea what that quazi-balrog could be!!! you all mentioned twisting creatures, but not inventing any new ones... Well, what about the rest of the Istari?! there were 5 of them, and the story says about only 3 of them - and the 2 rest we said to be lost somewhere in the east, and the story says nothing of their fate... so we could use that - one of them became evil, or whatever... He IS a Maia, so, he could have grat power... What do you think guys?!

and I definitely vote for being captive, we all need a rest!!!:p :D
but we must be captured by Orcs, if anyone incharge ever got his hands on us, we'd be dead!!! Orcs wouldn't know what to do with us untill they get orders, so that would keep us alive....

and NO dragons!!!! Smaug the Golden is the last of them, at least I think Tolkien wrote that somewhere... I'm not sure, but if that is true, we cannot use them, that would be aberration of his storyline...

I believe that Eliot is captive with us, but a very good hider of weapons. He was able to hide the weapons in his cloak only because the orcs thought he was knocked out. Now he is still knocked out, and I'd imagine being carried.

Eliot has our weapons, right? Just lets make this understanding first. Eliot is "knocked out" and is holding our weapons (there are only 6 swords and 1 is in his sheath.) and our packs are in the cave. Next, can we keep 1 dragon? Its already been introduced in the story. And where the bloody ell is Isildur? Stridir, any plans?

I thought we already decided on the whole dragon thing. I was prepared to keep one (or two). Got the weapons straight, sir! :D

What am I supposed to do, any ideas? And what exactly is the machine? Is Galdor supposed to do something or just be tortured for a while until someone else does something?

I kind of threw you into that didn't I.... I just thought you were a prime candidate as you seem to be a high elf or something like that. The orcs would hate you the most. Just torchure yourself for a bit and we'll see what happens. :D

okay, should I have Sureatsa come in and save us or just let the orcs wear themselves out trying to torture me?

I think we need to get locked up for a night or something, and then Sureasta can come into the picture. We need to try to make our escape realistic somehow.... As it looks right now we're all as good as dead. :p So I say that we all get torchured, then Sureasta can figure out how to save us.

hey werent we wearing mithril coats of mail? Wouldnt that mean that the whips and clubs wouldnt hurt us?...Much?

We could say that they took our mithril coats off in the cave and through them aside like our weapons not realizing that they were mithril.

but eliot has our weapons. Maybe they threw them onto the floor with our packs.

How Eliot be carrying five swords, daggers, knives, throwing knives, and axes without being caught by the orcs?

I don't really know! They'll find the weapons when they torchure him though.... :D

I think that we should say they took off our coats because obviously Galdor is in pain. We'd have to redo that whole part if we said that the Mithril Coats were still there. My coat isn't Mithril, but plain old elf mail, but it'd have to go too. Maybe someone should refer to the orcs taking our mail away or something....

Nenyas KNIFE (smaller than a sword)
Galdors Sword
anamatar Sword
His own sheathed sword
and stridirs sword. But the orcs think he is knocked out. He can hide them by wrapping his cloak around them.

I still don't like it. six swords and a dagger is a lot to carry around without being cought. I think we should vote on it.

4 swords and a dagger. his own sword is still sheathed at his side. A dagger and easily be concealed in a sleave and when swords 4 swords isnt THAT big. Eliot im assuming is a tall man and 4 swords should fit easily in his cloak. But fine. Lets vote. All for Eliot having the weapons say "I"!

hey Eliot, what is Sureatsa doing? Remember Galdor is having her simple circle over head right now and she wouldn't do anything else without clearing it with Galdor first. So tell what she is doing so I know how to have Galdor react to the situation, since he always knows what she is up to.

Hello, guys!!! I have 2 swords!!! Never mind 4 or 5 swords, I think that's to much for one person to carry around + he's captured... Maybe we should say that Orcs threw them away since they couldn't hold elven-metal... Or maybe say Eliot managed to pick them up and put them somewhere safe, hide them... What do you think? That would be more logical...
And what happened to the Balrog?! did we kill him, or did it escape?
And orcs surely wouldn't leave our armour on us, so, we could say they took it off and put it somewhere in the torture-room...So we could retake them when we escape!!!
And as for our escape, like Nenya said, we should make it realistic - somehow flee from the dungeon and THEN Sureatsa can pick us up!!!
Did someone mention that there is a greater power behind the Blue Wizards?! I think I read that somewhere in RP!!! What should that power be? I still propose we should use one or both of the Istari Tolkien mentiones...
What do you think people, tell me!!! I need your comments!!!

Sureatsa is only strong enough to carry one man at a time, though she might be able to carry two women. And she can only carry someone for a few miles before she tires out.

well eliot i guess only has 1 weapon of everybodies. But think about it. Orcs are dragging him, he has his cloak wrapped about him, I think he could conceal a few swords. So far its 2 of "Yea" and 1 for "Nay"

Hey galdor I said in my last post that your bird was taking on the dragons (only killed one). Is that alright?

And how would we get our weapons back? We wouldnt escape from the dungeons, run back to Cirith ungol, and run back to the tower. There are 3 deciding votes left: Nenyas, Stridir, and Eliots. Isildur hasnt been to the forum in a while.

I say that I don't have the weapons with me. How about they were left in the cave in a secret place. And about Sureatsa, I was planning on having the bird go get the eagles. If you guys think that it is stupid, that's fine. I really don't care.

Well, the dragons would have to be pretty small. Sureatsa can only grow to a little bigger than very large man (like a Numenorean.) I said in the rp that they had been left in the cave and Galdor had Sureatsa go get them and our packs and hide them somewhere nearby the tower we are in.

hmmm, I think we'll have to see what everyone else thinks about the Eagles thing. And that 3 "nays" to 2 "yeas"

Personally, I think we should escape on our own somehow too. After all, we're the Mithril Knights, right? :D If we use the eagles won't it be a little bit too much like Gandalf's rescue from Orthanc? You know, up high in a tower, eagles come and grasp us out of the very clutches of the enemy....

Now about the swords: How about Eliot was able to hide our swords in his cloak and push it into a dark corner before the orcs bound him? He would have been able to do this since the orcs thought he was knocked out. This way Sureasta can retrieve our swords and bring them to us. Also, both parties will be happy as they will each get something that they want. :D

BTW, I've got a long sword Anamatar - I picked it up in Minas Tirith for the seige there at the beginning of the RP. I also have a bunch of knives (hidden all over me) that the orcs didn't find. Hmmm... maybe I could put those to use - it isn't every day that an elf carries knives hidden about her....

I think it could be great (unless Nenya has some completely different plans for the creature) - they are, just like the Nazgul, powerfull creatures, high servants of the "bad guys", have even names given by orcs, who fear them - "big eyes"...

OK, here's the thing. We can't just get out cuz' Orcs are surrounding the whole tower. So, to get out we need to destroy all the Orcs. The silver ball is the only thing that can destroy them. I still think it's dumb for us to remain in the tower.... the orcs know that we've escaped and will be looking for us. The best thing for us to do is get out of the tower as quickly as possible so that we don't get killed. We could pull a Frodo and Sam and disguise as orcs or something. As for the balls, I think that they are a great for destroying the orcs but not for killing the wizards. The life of a Maia is not attached to a ball. Just my thoughts though....

I vote to attempting to get outside of the tower - doesn't mean we actually will for a while yet. We could run into trouble on the way and have to hide from orcs etc. But, if we were really there, we'd be trying to get out a quickly as possible because we'd know that the orcs know their tower from top to bottom and we couldn't hide from them for long. If we try to get out we will have a lot bigger chance of surviving. Besides, the mountain in which the orcs are being made is not in the tower itself but outside of it.

Remember-blue is gondor. DARK green is rohirrim, yellow is the knights current location red is the orcs (known orcs), and DARK red is the wizards tower and the mountain. Black is the elves, and the color that looks purpleish is the dragon. Enjoy. Elves and rohirrim are in gondor. Just so ya know.

How about we stay in the tower for a while, fight some orcs, discover some secrets, then we disocver a secret tunnel which leads to the mountain...
It would be a little difficult to pass trough a big bunch of orcs and thus reach the mountain....
Or maybe the tunnel doesn't have to lead to the mountains, but somewhere lese, so this RP wouldn't end so quickly...

okay well about a week after our rp started 3 members joined the mithril knights. 2 pmed me about joining the rp. Then 2 weeks later another joined and posted here about joining the rp. So instead of having 4 bored knights why not have them 4 tell the story from gondor. I beleive its been 5 posts on that side so now were back to the mithril knights in mordor. Are there any more questions? if youre talking about whats going on with the knights---we are still in the tower looking for a safe way out. If you are confused about what is going on in gondor---the 4 knights are each a commander i guess of the armys that are aiding gondor. Buu is of the rohirrim, phenix and celebrien of the elves, hobbitgril of the hobbits...I think thats about it. So lets do this in list format:


4 new members have joined the mithril knights rp. But this is before they join the knights in the rp world.
these 4 knights represent the aid for gondor
the 4 to-be-knights post 5 posts from gondor
the 6 now-knights post 5 posts from mordor
the 6 knights are in the tower
the 4 knights will meet the 6 knights at the end of the story and become mithril knights.

For one, there is more than 5 Mithril Knights in Mordor, secondly, if there are multiple people on at the same time I don't think that they should be constrained to five post. I would say that both groups should have a minimum of five post but can keep posting until someone out of the other group post. Lets take a vote.

Ok, I really hate to start this up again... but.... I absolutely detest having only one post per person per round! It makes no sense! (Sorry, Hobbit Girl). ;) But one of the best things about an RP is the fact that if you and another player are on at the same time you are able to go back and forth for as long as you both are on. If we restrict this to six posts for Mordor and four for Gondor, then people are going to get very bored waiting for the other posters. I'd personally like to be able to post back and forth. If people can't keep the places straight (which I find hard since there are only six knights in Mordor and we all know each other pretty well by this time) and if they can't follow a simple subject title, :p then I suggest that we do a day time-limit, and when that day is over the next group gets to post. This way people can post back and forth to their hearts content, and even if there aren't four or six posts at a given place the next day it is the next groups turn. We'll all get to post a lot more this way and won't risk losing any players.

I say we just conntinue on like normal, but just use the subject thing to say which group where in. Remember the point of rps is for people to have fun, not for other people to read. Though it is good to keep them nice clean and readable, if it is making it less enjoyable for the players because it's too connfusing I say just forget about readability.

2 things straight to the point:

As far as we know only Nenya, Galdor, and anamatar are running from spiders.

THe spiders, as far as I intended, are regular sized.

Yes, the spiders are normal sized as I tried to make clear in my post. Also, Galdor, Anamatar, and Nenya are FAR down the tunnel from the other Knights. No one else is with them.

since we are nearing the end of this RP I would like to lay down a few simple tips we could all use to make this a good RP.

~Speak like the people in that time period would: "The wind was feirce and it whistled past the knights ears, yet they heard naught but the wizards voices" instead of "The wind blew past the knights ears but the could only hear the wizards voices"

~SPELL CHECK. Just a simple one. Try to spell correctly.

~Follow the flow of the rp: "A band of hideous orcs jumped at the knights. They all engaged in harsh combat." then the next post-"Anamatar cut the head of one orc but another pricked his arm with a spear. These beasts were hard to fend off" instead of the last post being "The knights fought a hard battle but soon the orcs were defeated." Let battles go on for a few posts.

~Read carefully.

~Use a thesorus. Youd be surprised how much this helps

~Describe your battles!!!!!!!: "Anamatar clashed swords with an uruk-ghash many times until he managed to stab the fell thing through the stomach" sounds better than "Anamatar fought and orc and killed it"

~Describe everything

~If another player starts implying something do not change the subject. It usually means they have something in mind.

If we do all of these then this rp could be very good.

Just wanted to bring to everyone's attention that though the beasts are very strong their main power is not in their strength - it is in their eyes. So I should think that by this time there should be something going on having to do with that. If I'm knocked out so fast after only looking into their eyes once, then I'd think that someone else would be affected - but then, I wouldn't know. :rolleyes: :p :D

you can still be in. Dont worry. We all made sure not to leave you behind or something. Right now the knights (the 7 original players of this rp) are fighting the beasts from earlier. We are in mordor and have seen the wizards but theyre gone right now. 4 more players have been added to this game and will be giving us the story from Gondor. Later, at the end of the rp, the 7 knights and the 4 from Gondor (btw--the ones in gondor arent Knights yet) will meet and the 4 will become mithril knights.

I think you could actually just step right into the RP where we left off. We are still trying to find out what's going on in Mordor. We got captured by the orcs (I think you were here for that part), then escaped, went searching for some underground passageways that might bring us to the mountain, lost Isildur, found Isildur, found the tunnels, found the mountain, had a short scuffle with orcs in the main room where the fire is generated, escaped, and are now being attacked by the vampire beasts with the yellow eyes. :p

That's where we are now... hope that made sense.

I have another tip.

~Keep out big numbers. Try to keep the rp personalized. "A large battalion of hobbit swordsmen jumped into the battle and fought the legion of orcs that were pouring in." sounds better than "9000 hobbit swordmen jumped into the battle and fought the 8000 orcs that were pouring in." They are both the same thing, just different words. In an rp you are playing YOUR character. Keep it personalized like that. Tell more of what you character is doing rather than what their forces are doing.
