I have used a random number generator to select the first two winners in our contest. They are as follows:
1) The Letters of J. R. R. Tolkien - Nevavarein
2) The Complete Guide to Middle-earth - Buu
The essay contest will be judged before the end of the week. I anticipate posting the winning essays and prizes this weekend.
BTW... I have changed the prizes.....
1st place - Choice of Hard back copy of Silmarillion or Morgoth's Ring or The Lays of Beleriand.
2nd place - choice of one of the two that are left.
3rd place - whatever book is left over. :)
I searched far and wide to come up with these prizes. I hope that everyone is happy with the choices. Bear in mind that these books aren't brand new but all are in good shape. :)

In fact Nevavarein and Buu didn't do anything. They just had the small portion luck it needed them. Bad luck for us others. But we still have the essay contest.
As it is let's say: Well done Mrs Grond!
Grond, please tell her we thank her very much for doing the drawings, for being our Fortuna. I really hope she treats you well, because we need a happy Guildmaster here.

I would say that luck is an important piece of our life, and I congratulate those who have it. Noone can succeed something without luck (Turin Turambar's tale shows it), but Buu and Nevavarein had it and won the prize. So, you two, well done (for being lucky).

It is the essay contest. We all wrote essays and Grond and some other judges are going to judge them and pick 1st, 2nd, and 3rd prize winners. There was also a random drawing which Grond's wife officiated, and Nevevarien and Buu were the lucky winners.

Not true! They wrote essays - a prerequisite even for the random draw prizes. Congratulations to you both.

I don't think writing an essay was a prerequisite for the drawing

The random drawing contest was open to the first 25 members.

Luck for some and NO luck for others - that's an everyday story, isn't it!
Nevavarien and Buu, congratulations! The fact that Mrs.Grond's hand has picked precisely you does not diminish the significance of your efforts to have written the essays! So, you are TWICE rewarded!
I however would like to say that I personally would be much interested to read ALL of the written essays, not just the winners. Would it be possible?
