Hey, peoples of Arda (or should I say Heren Istarion? ...whatever). I'm here to say HI to everyone and wish you a happy weekend! I won't be here much tomorrow (Saturday), but I'll be here some time on Sunday. Thank you for all, have fun and take care!

Hey everyone, I'm sorry to say that I am leaving this guild now. I just dont' have time for it anymore, I'm not going to be on as much for quite a while, so I just can't keep up with running my own guild and being part of this one, but maybe some day I'll come back to it! See ya around,
Glorf

Good bye, Glorfindel! Remember, if you ever have time for Heren Istarion again we will always have a space open.:)

Hello all
Well, I've been some computer trouble lately. My brother is going to reinstall windows sometime soon..... and on top of that I've had a lot of things going on lately, spring is always very busy for me. I will still be here at the forum and will still take care of my position in the HI, but please don't hold it against me if my classes are a bit slow in the next week or two :)
I'll let you know as soon as everything has been cleared up. :)

Scatha
03-14-2003, 11:17 PM
Thanks Illotrtm for the heads up. :)

We won't hold anything against you, RL comes first and computer trouble is a pain.

I'd just like to say that I won't be posting in HI for a week or two.
I have a debate to partake in, as well as a few other things of significant importance. Hopefully by the time I get back, things will be running a tad more smoothly around here.

I'MMMMMMM BACK!!!!!!!!! Anyone miss me? Computer trouble over and I'm not so busy anymore! I'll be returning to my usual orders of buisness. :D I'll do my best to get my classes back on track shortly as well, though there is a lot going on in the HI right now, so until I figure it all out, they still may be fairly slow....

Did I miss any tests or anything?

And just a question, have any of the healer classes started up yet?

Nenya Evenstar

No, not yet. Check out this thread http://www.thetolkienforum.com/showthread.php?s=&threadid=10436 to find out when those classes will be starting. :)

My first class for "Monday" is History of Arda, but Galdor has asked us not to post until he does. Should I wait until he posts, or should I just go ahead and go to Archery(My next class)?

Nenya Evenstar
03-27-2003, 09:26 AM
Go ahead and go to your other classes. I think that Galdor meant for you to only wait for him in that thread, not in the other threads. Go ahead and attend your other classes while you wait for your tardy teacher. ;)

Galdor
03-27-2003, 08:28 PM
uh ya, I only meant that I didn't want anyone posting in the history thread. I will though post my lesson today.

Are classes back in session?
I'm so all over the place...

Nenya Evenstar
04-01-2003, 07:50 PM
Yes, classes are back in session but following the new timeline. To view the timeline and all it's info
(:D), see this thread:

http://www.thetolkienforum.com/showthread.php?s=&threadid=10436

Scroll down a bit to find the actual schedule. It stays completely updated. If you have any questions, feel free to contact me via MSN or PM. :)

justa question. where are the extra activities (band, stage crew, debat team etc.) suposed too take place?... are the leaders for the activities to start a thread or something?

Nenya Evenstar
04-01-2003, 09:02 PM
Yes those activities are completely up to the leaders. However, they still have to follow the timeline. View the timeline to see when the activities are. If there is a problem with a certain time, let me know and I can change it.

Peoples, I would like to make this important announcement today. I have not had time for watching Heren Istarion and for participating of it much. Today, that I had this time free and using a school computer, I had the opportunity to take a look at all things going on on HI. It was just today that I got to know about the Timeline and actually the new threads required for all. As I don't have the time to participate ofall things ontheGild, I am leaving it today. I manage to participate on some parts of the Guild, but as I can't participate of everything required, I think it is better if I leave. When my life gets a little more calmed and I have more time to read Tolkien's books and "enter" this world of fantasy again, then I shall come back to Heren Istarion. We have had a great time together. Thanks everyone! Especially to Nenya and Anamatar! See you all around!

I believe, given the state of affairs in the Ohtar Valaina, as well as more personal matters, that I will resign my position in the Heren Istarion.

I'm afraid I have not contributed as much as I should have to this guild; perhaps it is best if I let those who are more active continue to competently fill their roles, as they have.

I have nothing more to say than thank you to the leaders for giving me a chance. Good luck to you all!

Hehe, we have yet ANOTHER new eddition to the HI! :D:D:D I will now be giving a 5 day weather forecast. :D Teachers with outdoor classes will have to work their classes around the weather, but this wil give everyone even more of a feel that the HI world is a real place. I'll be starting a new thread for it, so be sure to check it once in a while!

Anamatar IV

wont that be confusing seince some post the things that happens in the evening already on day one and vice versa...

Nenya Evenstar
04-16-2003, 10:31 PM
Well, not if everyone looks at the forecast and sees what the weather will be before posting. That way, whether it's evening or morning, they can go along with the weather.

Greetings!

Are you guys taking any new members? I just started exploring this guild in the last couple of days and I think I could really use some training on how to RP. I am in one of the serious RPGs at the moment..talk about putting your socks on over your boots!...and I have no idea if my participation is good, bad or indifferent.

One question, though. To really do a good job in the classes and other activities, how much time can I expect to put into this? My wife already thinks I'm a nut for doing all this, so I'll really get in trouble if I start putting in many more hours doing RP.

Anamatar IV
04-21-2003, 07:29 PM
Welcome jimzeller! Timewise I don't think it would take you more than an extra fifteen or twenty minutes a day. But then there would be some days where you wouldn't need to post quite so much. Currently, training has stopped but it will resume at http://www.middle-earth-rpg.com

Until then read the thread Heren Istarion joining, the first post of training registration, and the first post of the thread called the Heren Istario timeline.:)

Nenya Evenstar
04-21-2003, 09:49 PM
jimzeller, welcome! :D

I would recommend reading a little more than just the first post of the Heren Istarion timeline thread . . . it's a little complicated. :)

Aulë
04-21-2003, 10:11 PM
Yes, in fact you have to read every post in Heren Istarion. And you'd better read it thoroughly- there's a test a the end. ;)

And watch out for the evil Kilease...:p

Anamatar IV
04-21-2003, 10:23 PM
Who gives Stable duty for killing squirrels.;)

But speaking of more things to read, I think it would be very profitable for you to read the thread entitled the Grand Gazeebo. For everyone else there is to be a test on that thread but since you are new I think it's fair to excuse you from it.:)

Nenya Evenstar
04-21-2003, 10:34 PM
Poor guy! :p Just read what you can and when you can. Don't feel too obligated to read too much too soon . . . if you need a quick summary on things you can PM me or catch me on MSN (nenyaevenstar@hotmail.com).

That should help eliminate any stress. :)

baragund
04-22-2003, 03:41 AM
Okay! I'll give it a shot and see how things go. If my wife starts sending me signals that I'm neglecting the family and spending too much time with my nose in the computer (i.e. computer monitor and CPU heaved out the bedroom window, my Tolkien books burned up in the fireplace, service with divorce papers, etc.) I'll definitely give you guys a heads up before bowing out.:)

In the meantime, I've already started meandering around some of the threads here and I'll continue until the other web site is up an running.

I apologize if this is not the correct place to put this but I thought the group would like to know a little about this new character here at Heren Istarion who seems to be so good at putting his foot in his mouth (see the Gazebo for full details). I understand we are supposed to leave the thread for character profiles alone until we move to the new site so here is a link to the RPG I was fooling around with before I found this place.

http://www.thetolkienforum.com/showthread.php?s=&threadid=10522

If I messed up the link, it is in the discussion thread of The War in the South, Serious RPGs. Baragund is still very much a work in progress but he's fleshed out much better now than he was before I joined you guys!

Aulë
04-25-2003, 07:39 PM
baragund- One thing you should know: Heren Istarion is set 1000 years after the War of The Ring. :)

Wonko The Sane
04-25-2003, 10:10 PM
Why are you telling him that?

Has he made some mistake of trying to dance around with Legolas or Aragorn or Arwen or something?
*Hits Pip* Stop showing off! ;)

Aulë
04-25-2003, 10:19 PM
*sigh*

If you have gotten around to reading his profile, Miles, you would have noticed that it was based on a character living shortly after the War of the Ring.

baragund
04-25-2003, 10:35 PM
Oh, Drat!! Am I really 1000 years out of date? As I said, he is a work in progress.

Aule, can you point me to where I can get a handle on the setting of Heren Istarion so I can tweak Baragund accordingly. I now know the time period. What about location, how nations are situated, what races are living where, etc.?

Anamatar IV
04-25-2003, 10:40 PM
Heren Istarion is really just a complex. It is a set of buildings located in Annuminas, the capital of Arnor.:)

Wonko The Sane
04-25-2003, 11:00 PM
Sorry...I didn't see the link. :(

04-26-2003, 05:18 PM
baragund, you probably should also know that the Iron Hills, Ered Luin, Misty Mountains and Minas Tirith have been captured by a new Dark Lord (Mornclaur).
And yes, it's confusing- but will make much more sense once HI is moved to the new RPG forum.

Ermmm, Orclord....

Basically, a character's bio is his history. Do you aim to tell us that this elf has learned nothing since he was born??

I suggest you take a peek in our profiles thread, to see what we expect from a character profile.

Also, the first post of that thread tells you what kind of info we are looking for in a profile. I assume this is a work in progress and not the entire sheet?

Orclord, welcome to Heren Istarion. If I may direct you to the thread Heren Isarion: Joining (http://www.thetolkienforum.com/showthread.php?s=&threadid=8642) . It will explain to you step by step what you need to do to join Heren Istarion.

As for your profile, Galdor runs a profile training course that is required for all students:

Character profiles (http://www.thetolkienforum.com/showthread.php?s=&threadid=8863)

(I think it's about time people ignored Galdor's edit at the top;))
