All right, HLG has an RP idea.
Main character Cat Artur, a professional cat burgler.
After several years of successful thieving he, still a young man and so a little over confidant, is caught steeling from the royal residence of some dictator. Into the dungeon. His cell mate is crazy old guy who tells him stories about remarkable treasures. Cat doesn't believe him but when they take the guy away to be hung Cat finds things in his cot that convince him he was telling the truth. He truely did possess knowledge leading to a powerful artifact.
Typically the evil king tries to hang Cat and cat bargains his life for what he knows about the artifact. Now in the service of the evil King Cat must find it and deliver it to keep his neck from getting stretched.
I'd say the artifact is a great sword.
There is another group of good people going after the same artifact to prevent it from falling into evil hands... a spy from this group is in the group accompanying Cat.
Both groups can have a wide cast of characters... So will you aid me or thwart me? Choose swiftly.
I will join with you. What are you planning to call this?

I'm lousy at titles but I was think of something such as The Conflict of the Golden Cutlass... that sounds corny...

It could be called "The Lost Artifact", but it is just as corny as the other.

Welcome both of you...
Does anyone have any ideas? Could we use a better heirloom than the sword? Should there be a beautiful spy who the hero can't resist? Does anyone have a title that isn't corny?
Please post as much of your character profile as you can... I understand if you want to keep some of it for a surprise, but it certainly helps if we can get a picture of your guy... or girl.
Well, im no good at titles. Sorry...Anyway, I justed pm'd Ciryaher about a new RP i might be starting. It will be a love story(thats the kinda rp's im into), of course, and I think it will be great.

Keep me posted. I probably won't join 'cause I don't know what I could add to that sort of plot, but I might like to take a look now and then.
I hope Cir remembers me Pming him about this one... it was awhile ago. I always wait a month between requesting the rights and doing the RP... I don't know why...

Not much is going on with me. I'll join. I wonder who wants to play a bad guy? Not me. oh well. Which character should I use for this?
Truor Tupnm - King of the Beornings, very cool dude, the one I'm most comfortable with.
Boffin - son of Bofur, got thrown out of the Lonely Mountain for being a very useless Dwarf, he's fun to play, though. :rolleyes:
Tolir - a really big, huge, scary, but harmless looking human dude, I used to be bored of him, but he's growing on me.
Trahald the Tainted - a corsair of Umbar type dude that I haven't used yet, he'll be fun to play.
Anyways, we could be after that Nimphelos thingy. That really big pearl some elves gave to some Dwarves in The Sil. It never said what happened to that thing. We could go to the Blue Mountains to get it. There'd be some weird creature (of course) to kill for it. I don't know.
I* will either be Kri Amin, Vaughn, Azog or my new character under construction.

Take your pick based on whether you want to be with the people trying to stop the evil king, the evil king's troups, a free agent after the heir loom for himself or another cause, or just a random apperition.
The pearl is a great idea, especially because it is Tolkien. Then we could use it in the title...
The Nimphelos Conflict... or the Nimphelos Coquest.
Um....ok. I might be able to be the bad guy or something. But it wont be Jav. It will have to be one of my other characters.

Talk it out between yourself.
The main bad guy or evil king won't probably be much of a part as I cannot see him going along on this mission... perhaps his evil right hand man...though you could make it the king at a stretch. Are you the type of bad guy who let's himself be killed?
I will play Kri Amin, Dark Raider from the East. He is a merciless general leading few to battle, yet coming out victorious. He is a master of many Black Arts, and sends fear into the hearts of all who encounter him.

Ok, I'll join. :) I'm finally here.... I'll play anyone and whoever, but I'll need to make up a totally new character for it. I'll be a girl, a guy, good, bad, ugly, beautiful - you get the picture.
So the artifact is a pearl? I like the idea. As for a name, I like Nimphelos Conquest.

That truly seems to be the best option. Just pick the side you want to be on (or make up your own) and invent your character from that. I'm not much of a dictator in my RP's.

Yikes! We've decided on Nimphelos Conquest? Ummm...why? How can conquer a pearl? oh well. I was thinking of something like, The Greatest RPG Ever! or The Nimphelos Adventure! or Yay For The Super Cool RPG About A Bunch Of People After A Giant Pearl! :rolleyes: oh well. Anyways, where is the pearl? Where are the two groups starting out at? Is the pearl guarded by a dragon or some other big and scary evil thing? just wondering.

The group of bad guys and cat starts out from the city of the evil king... which I imagine to be somewhere below Gondor. I want to make it a small kingdom so we don't have to actually use any of the rulers in our current RP timeline... or put it a few years forward. I'd like in put on that.
The resistance group starts out from a small village where they have been massing for an assault on the evil king. They are only a little ways away and move just behind us, because they want the pearl as well and need Cat's guidance.
The pearl needs to be guarded by something, but I find a dragon to be overused...hence I would prefer a series of booby traps a la Indiana Jones. Included could be a few smaller monsters... but no more dragons. Sick of dragons.
The pearl lies under the ruins of an old Numenorean out post near Lake Evindim

for the things gaurding the pearl, how bout ghosts, mutant skeletons, and sphinxes?
I think I will be the bad guy. Perferably(or however you spell it) the main bad guy.

Woah! Why is Nimphelos under the ruins of some old Numenorean place? It was given to the Dwarves by the elves! Wouldn't it be in some Dwarf place? But then, whereever it is, why would it still be there? If the people left, wouldn't they take it with them? Unless they were all killed by something. Hence, the dragon idea. Even then, I'm sure that somebody would know that the thing was still there. Lots of people would come for it. I doubt that it would be the only treasure around there. Noone could ever get to it because of the dragon. It doesn't even have to be a dragon. It could be a balrog or something. It could have been stolen in some war between Dwarves and orcs and it got moved to Goblin Town where it's protected by a bunch of them. Why not? Sure, booby traps are always cool, but I just don't see why someone would leave that treasure somewhere. oh well.

btw, I'll play bad guy or good guy. I would say bad guy cuz I'm in a bad mood, but i'm not sure how long that'll last, so y'all can pick for me. and maybe instead f a Dragon or Balrog, how bout sphinxes, a moat with a sea serpent in it, stuff like that?
Dude, if you have that many problems with the rp, dont join. There is nothing more annoying than somebody joining an rp and then quiting. When Nain Ironfoot started we thought he'd stay in it, but he left when we needed him the most, and it sorta screwed us up. Anyway, I am in the process of coming up with a new character. It will be the evil king's(what ever his name is) second hand man, as Elgee said. And I am also starting my "modern day middle earth" rp soon and would love for you ppl to check it out. I will post my new profile tomorrow.

All of those are your pets? A whole herd of horses? Yikes! You gots lots of food, huh? A large eagle? Wouldn't that be more of a sentient kind of race of it's own? Maybe he could be a good friend, but never a pet! The hawk and the owl make sense, but definitely not the dragon! Aren't dragons supposed to be evil in LOTR? Maybe I missed an example of a good one somewhere! Still, they're the same as an eagle. Maybe a friend, but never a pet! oh well.
Whoops! I just saw the other post! sorry I'm sooo evil and annoying. I'm just trying to help. Making suggestions and stuff. I'll leave if people hate me. Don't want to make people mad.

oh and YayGollum, the eagle isn't one of those eagles. it's not one of the sentient ones. just an ordinary eagle. and the dragon was brought up from when he was a little egg, so yeah, he's a pet. get over it. if YOU were the Princess of Lorien, yuo could have what you wanted for pets too. but you ain't. so get oever it.
If you guys were talkin about my post, I didnt mean to sound so....negative, but you have to admit that it is very annoying when you lose a character that has an important role. It can really screw up the rp. And the post was directed towards anybody. Sorry about that :)

Got it. Not one of the really big eagles. Some kind of crazy elf raised dragon. Would never happen in LOTR, but is permissable here for some reason. oh well. Anyways, what was that about losing a major character? I never said anything about that. oh well.

well ok just so yah know, the only reason at all that I would leave the RP is that my computer crashed, or I've been grounded. I love RP's, and you'll find it hard to get rid off me.
Good. What i meant about losing an important character was if you got into the rp and figured out you didnt like it, and left. That can sometimes really screw ppl around.

If we do decide that the pearl is by Lake Evendim, then I would suggest something like this: The Lost Pearl of Evendim, or Nimphelos of Evendim.
I actually think that the pearl should be somewhere that anyone and everyone would least expect it to be. Perhaps it WAS taken by someone who in turn hid it before he died?
Sounds like a good idea, but why would somebody hide it before they died? I mean, all this stuff we hav e to figure out before we start.

I was thinking that it was captured and hidden... The dwarves having it would lead us to moutains and I am sick of mountains.. no more mountains...
People hide things and then don't get back to them. Perhaps the guy in the prison had stolen it and then got arrested before he went back to get it. He could be a corrupted Numenorean and really about three hundred years old... etc.
A dragon is okay... but NO MOUNTAINS!!!

Huh. I like mountains. But anyways, how's about it was taken by corsairs of Umbar? Those dudes would take something like that. You know, we could do the classic treasure-seeking adventure. Pirates always bury their treasure and make a map for some reason. :rolleyes: There ya go. Somebody has a map. The thing is on some crazy island. No mountains, but the island is protected by a sea monster. Everybody knows Fastitocalon, right? The giant sea turtle? He's cool. Yay turtles!

No, we don't really have to kill it. We just have narrowly escape with our lives, I guess. :rolleyes: It could always come on land after us at some point. We still wouldn't have to kill it. Just scare it away. I don't know. It just isn't used as much as a dragon.

Or it could resurface under our ship and knock us sky high and we'd have to swim ashore and be stuck there... all the groups together because the ships were close to each other during the wreck... together and we would find the Nimphelos... you see where I'm going?

Barrow wights are these weird ghost thingys from FOTR. They weren't in the movie, though. They were these ghosts of some old human dudes. I think they were good guys in life. I don't know. It was pretty crazy. Tom Bombadil saved the nasssty hobbitses from some of them. They got some swords from one of the barrows. I kind of thought that there were only barrow wights there because it was kind of close to where the WitchKing lived and he might have messed with them since he was a kind of sorcerer dude.
O ok, Thanks! Anyway, that is a good idea. Have it guarded by those dudes.

To tell you the truth I'm just a wee bit confused as to how and where I fit into the story as well as to where exactly we decided that the pearl is... but I'll figure it out once we start. :)

Hm? I am here to help! Why not? I said something to Elgee in a PM about bringing Ancalagon into this RPG. Just like Nimphelos, The Sil. doesn't say what happened to Ancalagon in the end. How's about he's hanging out on this island? That would explain why he was never killed and why noone has gotten the Nimphelos. Most dragons live in the mountains where they're killed by Dwarves or something.
Here's the scenario ---> Dwarves have the Nimphelos. They get robbed by corsairs of Umbar at some point. Probably up in the Blue Mountains, which are on the coast. They hide the Nimphelos on some island. Ancalagon comes way later, takes over, sleeps on his pile of treasure, the Nimphelos is stuck on his chest. The two groups go for the Nimphelos. Fastitocalon is in the water. They fight each other on the island. They team up to get the Nimphelos from Ancalagon. They fight over it when and if they ever get it. Stuff like that.
Elgee said that she didn't like the dragon idea at one point. sorry about that. We could just do the Fastitocalon thing. Corsairs could still be on the island, stranded because of the turtle.
