The Summer is waning, and falls hold is getting tighter. THe leaves are turning, and the warm is fading to a chill cold. But all is not well. Among the southern regions a force threatens the lands of many. All races have been beaten back. It is a time for the only hope, and a last ditch effort. A great counsel is being called of all the races. It will be decided there the future actions to be taken.
The counsel will be held at the great cit of Brennen. It is home to many inhabitants of all races. It will be the home of the last muster...
A large dwarf walks up the numerous stairs at the meeting hall of Brennen city. The building is a large complex shaped from marble brought down from the northern borders. The Dwarf reaches the top, and walks through the open oak doors. THe smell of fires, and alchol meets him as he enters. He had been sent to the counsel as the representitive of the dwarven community. He walked further into the building, and deeper into the darkness. The many windows of the hall had been covered for the winter. farther down he could see a large hall. The glare of fire was bright, and many voices could be heard, amplified by the lofty ceilings. He walked through a set of arches into a hall of immense size. MAny people were present. People of all different races. Some sitting, and others huddled around the large fire pits. He walked over to one of the many large dining tables, and seated himself on a stool.

A beautiful elf with black hair came in and sat in a table looking at the fire as though she was lost in thought. Shhe heard footsteps and turned around. There was a dwarf coming in the doors, and she watched as he sat down. There was something familiar about him, though she did not know why.

A young, female hobbit with curly brown hair and bright green eyes that shone out from beneath her hood stepped into the lofty hall. She threw back the hood on her blue cloak and stood awhile slowly looking around the room. She saw several people, among them an elf with black hair and a large dwarf. She felt rather out-of-sorts, as there were no other hobbits present to strike up a pleasent conversation with. But then agian, times were rarely pleasent anymore...

The dwarf sat alone watching the many peoples. One in particular caught his eye. An elf. The long dark hair seemed oddly familiar, but It was probably only a recollection of a traveller that had passed through his town long ago. He caught the elves eye, but looked away. Near the entrance there appeared a hobbit. The young hobbit seemed out of place among the large warriors, and dressy political leaders. He thought of asking her over, but he had never been one to start up conversations with strangers. He poured himself a glass of ale, and sat back watching the many personalties in the room.

As the talk went on three men in long flowing robes entered through a back door in the hall. THey walked to a podium at the end of the hall, and called themselves to attention. " Excuse me! If I could please have your attention." One of the men called out over the din. " I will try to make this short seeing as we have limited upon our hands. Of course you all know that we are in a predicament. We are under attack by invaders from the south. So far no leader has shone himself. They have numbers to great to count, and have overcome whatever we have thrown at them. At this moment an effort has been made to foil them. An army of elves dwarves, and men have been summoned and sent out against them. It was our only hope, but if the reports are right all hope there was is now smothered. Men upon men have been pouring from the south. Thier numbers are estimated to outnumber ours...five to one." As the last word bellowed from the mans mouth shouts errupted from the crowd. Some gave words of incouragement, and others scorned them for unwise choices. " Please. Everyone Please be quite. We think that it would be best to turn away. To leave our land. We could fight to our deaths, but even now more men are coming up from the south. By tommorow there will be no army to hold them back, and nothing between them, and us. I advise all of you to return to your homes, and save whatever you can. They are expected to reach the city by the end of the week." THe man ended his speach, and looked out to all the grim faces. They were all silent. No one wanted to leave thier home, and move, but they knew that there was no hope for them in fighting.
" so what? I came all this way to be turned back with a message of ill fate, and evil tidings for my city?" A man cried from the back of the room.
" I did not say you couldn't fight, and make a last stand. But I'd advise not to. You would surely die." THe man at the podium said gravely. With that he turned and walked from the room followed by many shouts and questions.
THe Dwarf sat shocked. He could not believe what he heard. "No hope?" he questioned himself. He sat at his table as many of the people in the hall strided to the exits with great haste. He did not want to return home only to tell all his friends that they had to leave thier village. He would not stand for it.

Anamatar sat in the room silent. He did not want to leave the city. He slowly stood up and walked to the door. Ofcourse the army of the city was a grand one but the force from the south seemed too great. He had to leave. He wanted to fight. He wanted to make an inpenetrable wall of foes to protect the city from all attacks of the present and future. He knew that everyone else who attended the council wanted the same. But it was not possible.

The hobbit was stunned. There was no hope? How could that be? "Now think, Ashari, think!" she whispered to herself. "There has got to be some other way. There just has to." She ran every option that she could think of over and over in her mind, but the only logical choice was to flee. "I will not stand for it," she said to herself. Suddenly she stood up and said for all to hear, "There has got to be another way!" All eyes turned to look at the young hobbit. There was a brief silence in the room. Ashari was not embarassed; she just stood there, her fists clenched beneath her cloak and her green eyes flashing.

Most of them that heard it shrugged them off with a menacing look. All of them wanted to stay, and fight, but what's the use destroying themselves, and thier family for nothing. But a few that had heart enough, and courage enough stopped, and gave a questioning look at the hobbit, and the others that felt that a fight should be mustered. But only a few actually stayed thier ground with the hobbit. As the few started to yell in agreement, and old bent figure huddled in one of the corners silenced them with a shout. " Do not be quick to decide. The perils that come from the south are unknown to any of you. If you stand you will fall." He snapped at them. " Your rash decision could mean the destruction of even more people then those who stand against them. LEAVE! Leave while there is still a sun to run under." He shuddered, and fell back in to the shadows watching some of the men turn, and walk from the room.
The dwarf that sat at one of the tables stood up glaring at the man. " Old man, do you have any idea what is at stake. Even if we leave this land what's going to stop them from following. If we stand and fight we will die, but die as bold, and Brave warriors. If we run we will die...but die as cowards running from the inevitable."
The man stepped from his corner. " They do not chase you." He stated in a calm manner. " They come for the power this land has that has lane hidden for centuries. It is the only thing standing betwen them, and true power. That power alone might be the only thing able to stand and fight the invaders. But it has been dormant for so many years. No one can tell if it still harbors the great powers it once did."
"What power do you speak of?" The dwarf asked. He had never heard of an ancient power.
"The powers bestoyed on the men of ancient. More of a kinship. They were given power over the skys, and all that dwells in it. It was a well used power. The men of ancient were noble, and true. THey used only in times of great danger. And it served it's purpose well. But as time passed the men were corrupted, and began to use thier power to gaain wealth, and control over other men. So it goes the unknown giver took the power from the men, and placed a gaurdian to protect it. It would never be allowed in the hands of the men again."
"But wouldn't the gaurdian see that we are in great need. It would surley not stand by, and watch the destruction of all that has come to pass. Would it?" The dwarf asked.
" I cannot say. This power is far beyond any of us, and to old for anyone to remember."
" Isn't there a way to find out. Where is the power hidden?"
" There is a way to find out, but I have never heard of any one even attempting the trip. It is through hard land that the path goes. It lies at the heart of the Misty mountains. Far to the east."
"It's worth a try. Of course it's worth a try. It might be our only hope, and I will not stand by, and watch as my home is destroyed! Will anyone else be by my side. I do not wish to go on a journey alone, but I will if I must."
" If you are to take the journey young dwarf then you will need my assitance." The old man said sitting into his chair.

The mountains of mist are many days journey into the east and yet we have been summoned to leave by threat of attack by sunrise!" He walked over to the dwarf. "If we find this power and we come to a land devoured by evil. A barren wastland with slaves pouring over the hills making waste to what is born anew. What when we come and indeed all hope is lost and the remnants of the city are pursued and slain to the edges of the world?

If still want to go by sun-up then meet me here. We will leave with as great haste as we can manage. If you have a mount bring, if not I will have one for you. Pack stores for two weeks at least. The journey to the misty mountains will not be our final stop. Now go where you must, and rest." The old man sat back in his chair. If you could see his face you would see a smile. At least there is some hope in this journey. I think the only way to solve this is to confront the old man." Perin looked up at anamatar, and then to the man that had come for the quest. " Good meet here at sunrise tommrow bring provisions enough for two weeks. If you do not have a mount a horse will be ready for you. I hope that old man brings a carriage. Ashari noded to Perin and the others and then exited the hall. She returned to the inn in town where she was staying. Two weeks of provisions satisfying to a hobbit were prepared and put on her pony, Gabriella. The next morning, Ashari saddled and bridled Gabriella, and as an afterthought, saddled one more pony. Maybe Perin will change his mind about horses and ride old Blackwood here, she thought with a smile. She rode to the hall before sunrise on Gabriella, leading Blackwood beside her.

With that he walked from the hall, and into the dark night. He did not realize that he had been there for so long, but that mean he had lesss time to prepare then he thought. So he began to jog. When he finally came to the inn his legs were tired. He had only finished his first journey yesterday, and needed rest. He entered the inn, and called for the keeper. " Excuse me sir, but I am in great need. I was wondering if you would prepare two weeks worth of food for me. I will pay you well." The old inn keeper nodded, and bustled through the common room, and through a pair of swing doors, into what appeared to be the kitchen. He returned minutes later
"When do you need it ready by?" He asked
"By sunrise." Perin said looking at the man.
"It will be ready then." The man turned and walked over to a table full of locals by the look of them, and took orders for drinks. The eagle and hawk quickly look up and fly away, while her owl starts doing a little dance while hooting. Tinuviel laughes. "come on now, yuo don't expect Steel Heart and Brave Arrow to do it by themselves?" Her owl stops dancing and flies off. " Besides I will need to ride to keep up with the pace we have set for ourselves." Perin looked to the horizon where the sun was blazing among the fringed ends of the soft white clouds. As his mind began to waver on the subject the wizard could be seen walking from farther down the road. Perin gave a sigh of relief, and stood up from his post on the ground. " He is here!" Perin told all of his companions. " He did not fail us, he finally came."
" Hello." he said with a smile on his face. much different he seemed from when they had first met him. " A fine day this is for traveling." he tightened his belt, and looked to the sky. " You're at least and hour late!" He cried in frustration. " And you say we are holding you up." Perin bent down, and pick up his pack. He looked at the old man with a cold look of disgust.

"You have forgot, little hobbit, that we are not the evil anymore,"said the dark knight,"the men from the south are the ones we are up against, and it is the wish of the dark forces to contribute in this unusual war....I am only saying that we could form a little alliance for a time, so that way we can fight fair with the forces of the south.....I think this is more than logic, and it would be very wise to accept our help, instead of decline it. You don't want us as an enemy too...

"That depends. For i once knew a person who said he wasnt with the dark side anymore then betrayed me. I almost was killed."

"That may be true", Neothen finally spoke,"but life is empty without taking chances. If you don't join with the dark forces then realms will fall to this threat including my homeland, which is out of reach to any mortal."

"Don't try your evil tricks on us. We are plenty strong, and need no help from our enemies. Yes, I said enemy. You may think that we will except you with an even more powerful enemy on the horizon, but we are not the stupid vermin you are used to working with! Now we must be off. The gates of Brennin city will not stay open for long. I suggest you let us be." Perin gave the rider a stern look.

nev. looked from face to face they were all stern and Perin's eyes narrowed as he looked at neothern obviously deciding. nev. then said "he may be help to us, but then again, he could just be lieing and waiting for the perfect time to desert us in battle. So what do you think, Perin."

"You are not wise, master dwarf,"said the dark rider,"not wise at all....You have proven indeed that a dwarf mind is as hard as the rocks of Moria....We thought you would be more , open to chances in this time of war....But if trouble is what you want, then that's what you'll have....We, the dark forces promise that we will make your journey 1000 times more difficult, so that when you return, defeated, to your lovely mountain, you'll find nothing but ashes and rocks....I'll say the same to all of you humans and elves, and hobbits...."and with this the ridder turned around and ride his horse south....
