Did any one else notice in the movie,when Aragorn goes to find the "athelas" to treat Frodos wound from the Morgul blade,that the company is in the clearing where the trolls had captured Bilbo and the dwarfs in the Hobbit.Aragorn mentions this in the book but the film theres no specific attention drawn to it.I just thought it was a cool touch.
I was wondering if anyone noticed anything else like that in the movie
how could you miss it? every Tolkien fan would have been looking for it fromt he first. :) In the book it was during the day, and Frodo wasn't 'dying' so fast.

I only noticed it on my second veiwing,I have to admit I kinda forgot about it!did anyone see anything else like that?
We hear Bilbo humming the first line of his 'old walking song', as he leaves Bag End after the party..."The road goes ever on and on, down from the door where it began..."
did you catch that?

I saw the trolls the first time I saw the movie, but none of the people I was with did. And did you guys know that there's a scene in the movie where you can see a car driving in the back ground?

No, it's right around the scene where Frodo and Sam are in that field with a scarecrow, its been awhile since I've watched it so I can't tell you the exact place, but it's around there somewhere. Watch the top right corner closely and you can see the dust rising up from the car as it passes.

It's funny, the first time I saw the movie, I noticed all those things. I've only seen it twice, total...once I rented on DVD, and I didn't notice much that I hadn't seen the first time. When I went to see it in the theater, I guess I was looking really closely, paying attention for every detail. Probably why I was a little disappointed with it when things weren't 'right', or things I was anticipating were left out.

Don't bother; this has been talked about a thousand times.
In the cinema you may just glimpse a puff of smoke or some dust, and it might just have been, but probably wasn't, caused by a car.
In the DVD version whatever was there has been removed: there's nothing to see.

People always got the car wrong, due to bad rumours. It was there, but there was absolutely no smoke or dust involved. There is a hobbit chimney, which is not the car. The car, in the theatre, was a little glare of light. You never actually saw a distinct car, just a small itty-bitty glare on the horizon. It was presumably a car. I haven't seen it on the DVD, but that may just be becasue of the lower resolution of a TV screen.

You can see both the the light glinting off of it, and the dust rising up from it very clearly. I have never seen the dvd verson though so it is possible that they edited it out.

Ok, I did see the trolls the very first time because I was looking for them. Also, I did hear Bilbo's humming. However, I never saw the car in all 4 times I saw it in the theatre and it definately isn't in the DVD.

there are a lot of these things ppl noticed. there is a website on it but i can't remember the name. i think i threw it away the other day. LOL. but i neva saw the car, in the 6 times i saw it in the theatre or the two times i watched it when i rented it.....
I believe that they edited the car out of the VHS I have.

I was hoping to get to see thet car again:( . well I'm getting the Platium Collector's Extened Edition tomorrow maybe they'll metion it in one of the extra documentarys. If they do I'll let ya know.

The Car Lives!!!!!! its there but not in the movie its on the extra National Geographic DVD Beyond the Movie. In it there is that scene with Frodo and Sam in the field with the scarecrow and if you look to the upper-right corner theres the light and the dust moving right along just like in the original Movie.:D Its good to see it again.
