I've finished it but I don't remember anything about a fairy cake. Must go see sometime. Thanks for the tea.:)

Wonko The Sane
12-10-2002, 09:39 PM
It's in The Restaurant at the End of the Universe. :)

In the something or other vortex...that's powered by Fairy Cake. :)

Frodorocks
12-10-2002, 09:41 PM
I haven't read that one. I've only read the first one.:)

Snaga
12-10-2002, 10:40 PM
Well be aware we will NOT be serving Pan-Galactic-Gargle-Blasters in here.

But perhaps we can get a mad cow to come and discuss what part of his anatomy you would like to eat... spinal cord, anyone? *Has been studying BSE far too much:rolleyes: *

Wonko The Sane
12-10-2002, 10:43 PM
How about a steak? Sans brain matter please! :D

And WHY no Pan-Galactic-Gargle-Blasters?! Those things are ACE! What's it like...like being thwacked in the head with a lemon covered gold brick or something...

Wolfshead
12-10-2002, 11:08 PM
Nah, not a good idea, we'd need some voluntary organisations to help us recover from them. I don't think those organisations are available on TTF

Snaga
12-10-2002, 11:10 PM
Also there are not enough qualified brain transplant surgeon!

Wonko The Sane
12-10-2002, 11:17 PM
But I don't need a blain transplant I need a LIFE transplant!!

Anyway, I hear they can replace my brain with one that works just as well, or almost as well...we could program it to say, "I love Brits!", "Sexy accents?! *swoons*" and "Snaga, snog me!!" and nobody would know the difference!!!

Frodorocks
12-11-2002, 09:45 PM
Yay! now I'm a loremaster again. i've nearly gained back what I lost in the cleaning! :D :D :D :D :D :D

Wolfshead
12-12-2002, 07:27 PM
Now, you go and set your av before your count gets put back down again :D Once you have it uploaded, it doesn't go. If you care, or anything.

Wonko The Sane
12-12-2002, 08:24 PM
*serves tea, smiling all the while and humming happily to herself, she stops, looks up and realizes she's standing under mistle toe*

Hmm...Where's Snaga when you need him?!

Frodorocks
12-12-2002, 09:31 PM
If I care, of course I care, I'm a very caring person.:) Now I'll I've got to do is figure out how to do that.:) After reading The HitchHikers' Guide to the Galaxy and Alice's Adventures in Wonderland I'm in a really weird Britsh mood. British and crazy, that's what makes a good book.

Wonko The Sane
12-12-2002, 09:36 PM
Hehe...HHGTTG always puts me in that mood.
:) I walk around asking for tea in my crazy accent.
Hehe. ;)

*feels a headache coming on and goes to sit down* I can't get sick..this would be the worst possible time in the history of the stomach flu for anyone to get sick!!! NO!!!!!!!!

Frodorocks
12-12-2002, 09:38 PM
By my magic powers I decree that you are indeed not sick, now go and have LOTS of fun. :D (snickers):D

Wonko The Sane
12-12-2002, 09:45 PM
Don't snicker at me!!! I refuse to respond to any allegations you may throw at me!!!

Anyway...my head feels sinusy and my eyes feel watery and I think I might sneeze.

My mum and sis have the stomach flu and have been puking like every 10 minutes.

That would be SOO pants...*sighs*

Two days...Two days to NOT be sick in.

Frodorocks
12-12-2002, 09:48 PM
Well, if you do have it, flus are pretty short, it'll probably be over in two days.

Wonko The Sane
12-12-2002, 09:55 PM
But I need to be better by Saturday night!!!

Anyway...I don't want to be sick at ALL!!! *looks in open browser window she's just been amusing herself with for the past 15 minutes*

Oh my...somebody stop me...before I do something stupid.

Nimawae's hope
12-12-2002, 10:24 PM
And how do you suggest that we stop you dear? I believe that you are quite uncontrolable. Your points count indicates that.

So why do you have more points added to the warning thingy? Have you been misbehaving?

Wonko The Sane
12-12-2002, 10:35 PM
Spamming...and possibly some light snogging. ;) :D

Nimawae's hope
12-12-2002, 11:44 PM
Oh...well.......hmmmm. I'd tell you to behave yourself, but I don't think it will do any good!!

What subject were we on anyway?

Wonko The Sane
12-12-2002, 11:49 PM
Snogging hopefully!!! :D

You're right though...it won't do me any good...

ANYway, Snaga owes me a kiss for not catching me under the mistle-toe earlier. :)

Frodorocks
12-16-2002, 09:43 PM

*strides to the bar, rummages around in a cupboard and pulls out bottles of champagne*

better put these on ice!!

*goes to jukebox and selects 'In The Meantime' by Spacehog*

So Roy Langdon is going out with Liv Tyler (the git!), nevertheless this is his finest song! :D

…and in the end we shall achieve in time
the thing they call divine
when all the stars will smile for me
when all is well, and well is all for all
and forever after,
maybe in the meantime wait and see

We love the all, the all of you
Our lands are green and skies are blue
When all in all, we're just like you
We love the all of you

*paces the room humming loudly, a cup of tea in one hand and an air guitar in the other*

Frodorocks
12-17-2002, 09:02 PM
We have life in the tea room!:D One day!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! (Goes outside and sets off lots of fireworks.)

Snaga

* Comes out from the back, smoothing his hair down *

OK... new theme for discussion is the our SF comedy night that I have deemed we need to hold SOON! What should we show?

So far I'm thinking Red Dwarf and Hitch-hikers Guide to the Galaxy? Which should top the bill, and what else should be on the play list?

Personally I think Red Dwarf rules? 'My head may look like an amusingly shaped ice-cube, but I think I might just know best here' * Ah! smug mode*:D

Wonko The Sane
12-19-2002, 04:04 AM

Speaking of Christmas presents,I have Christmas presents for everyone.I'm feeling generous.;) For Wonko- A steaming bowl of bright orange oatmeal!:D Just kidding. Here, have the shag mobile, the only good thing in the Austin Powers movies. For Freedom- I rented out a plane, an instructor, and skydiving equipment for a day. Tell me what it was like!:) For CraigSmith- 10 tickets to an Iced Earth concert. For Snaga- The wickedest orcish blade this side of Middle Earth. Just don't go using it on Frodo!:D For all of the British people I don't know that well or forgot- The Lord of the Rings, The Fellowship of the Rings extended DVD and a packet of corn flakes.

OK... we're a bit late but we should really be eating turkey, and getting very drunk. But lets agree that moment has gone, OK? So lets get MORE drunk!

Who wants to pull a cracker? Did anyone get a joke in a cracker this year that was actually funny??? I hope not, that would ruin a long tradition!

Who wants some Christmas pud? If we can find some brandy, we can pour it over the Christmas pud and set fire to it... always good fun!

Oh and Wonks would very much like to come to England, but is currently unable. But I went to Seattle and had a jolly good time thank you!

Frodorocks
12-29-2002, 09:30 PM
Yay! Drunk people are funny!:D "Look, I can kiss myself in the mirror." "Good for you, you deserve a cookie." "Ooo, a cookie, I want a cookie." "Here have this empty nutty bar box" She ate it too!:) :D That was one of my friends drunk at a music festival last Summer.:D

Nimawae's hope
12-30-2002, 09:47 PM
I'm in favour of being the first one drunk......I may have a hard time getting there though cuz I never actually tried it.

Frodorocks
12-31-2002, 02:09 AM
It's not hard getting there, just getting back.:D

Snaga
01-05-2003, 02:31 AM
Gettingf drunk is much easier if you've never done it before! Alarmingly so!:D

* eats cookie * Or is this actually a biscuit?:p

legoman
01-05-2003, 02:45 AM
thats not entirely true, when I first got drunk it took 9 shots of aftershock far too much vodka, some cheap wine, starwars episode 4, some orange juice some apple juice, some friends and my sisters boyfriend - who I didn't like and got more and more insulting towards as the night went on. oh then it involved pizza and crashing at a friends house.

Snaga
01-05-2003, 02:50 AM
It involved cheap german white wine for me, in copious quantities.

But I still would not call it difficult. The recovery next day was!

I think you overcomplicated things with too much fruit juice and your sisters boyfriend. Cut that out, and the rest sounds like just the ticket!:D

To anyone impressionably young reading this: I AM NOT YOUR ROLE MODEL. ;)

FREEDOM!
01-05-2003, 03:24 AM
We already figured that out, let's do something.......any ideas....

Frodorocks
01-05-2003, 03:57 AM
Lets decorate the place with green hearts and pink shamrocks, as St. Patrick's day and Valentine's day are the two closest holidays!:D Why wouldn't we want you as our role model? We love you Snaga. :D

Wonko The Sane
01-06-2003, 06:43 AM
The first time I got drunk it took like...3 shots of Baileys, 2 shots of Kahlua, and countless bottles of Mike's Hard Lemonade...NOT easy!!!

But I wasn't hungover the next day.
I've NEVER been hungover.
Maybe I didn't do it right...

Snaga
01-09-2003, 10:06 PM
Love and Guiness! Sounds like an interesting combo! But perhaps a little way off.

Thank you Frodorocks, that's very kind. * is oblivious to irony *

If you are avoiding hangovers you are doing something right! Work out what it is and tell me!:)

* disappears and returns with a huge pizza base * OK we're going to celebrate the culture of one of our European neighbours... Italy. How? By eating pizza.

Here's the pizza base... chuck on your favourite toppings... Ready? OK... Go!

Frodorocks
01-09-2003, 10:14 PM
* chucks in some pineapple, wonders if it will gross some people out* You're very welcome snaga. (makes irony very obvious) I'm sorry, we have a truce, so I won't be mean I promise.:)

Wonko The Sane
01-10-2003, 01:24 AM
Um...Pizza was invented in America I believe...In New York around the turn of the century when everyone was immigrating here.
I believe it was invented by Italian-Americans though.

Oh well!

*tosses huge piles of grated cheese onto the pizza and adds loads of veggies*

I like veggie pizzas!

legoman
01-10-2003, 09:03 PM
*legoman runs up behind, and chucks on pepperami, pepperoni, spicy beef, lamb doner meat, chicken, ham, pork, a spare rib and a big mac*
'no thats a pizza!'
when will it be cooked??

Frodorocks
01-11-2003, 12:52 AM
When the wonderful sun god Ra tells us to bake it in his scorching flames. :D

Wonko The Sane
01-11-2003, 01:09 AM
We will cook it when everyone's added their toppings!

:) And anyway, I like veggie pizzas, but I like meaty pizza's too!! So shh! ;)

*Tosses on a few strips of beef jerky, some venison, and some smoked salmon bits*

Frodorocks
01-11-2003, 01:40 AM
Throws on some pickled herring.:D

Snaga
01-11-2003, 04:26 AM
Oooh yes seafood! Tassty and crunchable!

* chucks on tuna, sardines, swordfish, prawns, clams, cod, halibut, jellied eels, a load of sushi, a kipper and a whale (yes a whole one! I'm hungry)*

Wonko The Sane
01-11-2003, 07:38 AM
*Tosses on some more eel*

I LIKE eel! Snaga knew that though.

*tosses on more sushi* I also like sushi! But it'll be ruined after we bake the thing! Maybe we should add more later?

*adds scallops, squid, shrimp, and one giant H'umh'umunukunukukapua'a, the state fish of Hawaii. Which actually might not be edible and is certainly spelled wrong.*

TheFool
01-11-2003, 04:02 PM

'Hello and welcome to cooking with tolkien fans, a new show pioneered by the BBF, today we are at the TTF's main kitchen in the british army barracks tea room, lets have a look at what they are cooking...

'Hi there *reads name badge* Wonko, what is it you've prepared for our hungry fans today... oh a giant pizza, thats very ambitious, I see you seem to have an awful lot of dead animal on there, which I should poibnt out makes it all the more scrumptious. I wonder where exactly do you find thesee creatures?'

*camera pans round to show pother cooks playing cricket with a dead rat*
*camera pans back - quickly*

Snaga
01-14-2003, 01:36 PM

Wonko The Sane
01-16-2003, 06:45 AM
Me too!! *Runs to help the rest and they manage to ease the giant pizza into the giant oven*

*turns towards the camera, beaming and covered in flour*

"Hi!" "she waves. Snaga comes up behind her, wraps his arms about her waist, kisses her on the neck and looks at the camera as well.*

"Hi!" *he says as he waves. Wonks grins and turns to give him a quick kiss, they both turn back and say, in unison,* "Bye!" *And scamper off to be alone together*

Hehe.

hmm, well it seems Rocky's girlfriend's name is actually Adrian, but I went for the logical choice! I've been trying to find a wav sample cos then you get the accent as well, but this from the imdb (http://us.imdb.com/) will have to do:

Quotes containing "Rocky":
....62. Rocky (1976) Rocky: Adrian!
63. Rocky (1976) Adrian: Rocky!
64. Rocky (1976) Rocky: Adrian!
65. Rocky (1976) Adrian: Rocky!

Looks out of the window... by the way, Lego, did you notice the moon was enormous last night?

legoman
01-22-2003, 04:22 PM
erm last night... lets see, left here at what time, erm... about 5:30ish, didn't look up, went almost straight to the pub and didn't leave till about 2ish, can't say I noticed sorry mate...
Was it good?
Now do you mean big for the moon or just big compared to a simple meteor?

Frodorocks
01-22-2003, 09:39 PM
"You're welcome Snaga" replies Frodorocks while sipping her margarita.:) The moon's been huge for awhile. Par exemple, "Ford, you're turning into a penguin... Stop it!".

And also,

Ford: What would you say if I said I wasn't from Guildford after all, but from a small planet in the vicinity of Beetlejuice?"

Arthur: Why? Is it the kind of thing you're likely to say?

The Belgariad sucks. I read it years ago. Six volumes in which admittedly you keep turning the pages as though compelled by a mysterious force even though the plot is transparent, and you hate the characters intensely. The more it continues the more you live in desperate hope that somehow the author will pull a plot twist out of the bag, something that will surprise you ... something that you desperately hope will involve the death of most, and preferably all, of the cast.

But it never happens.

So in case you were considering reading it let me spoil it for you:

Good defeats evil.
Boy marries girl.
And everyone live happily ever after.

Hello everyone by the way. Can I have a cup of darjeeling please?

And everyone live happily ever after. Hmm. Well, when we all read LOTR, couldn't we tell Frodo would destroy the Ring? The outcome may be obvious, that doesn't stop the story from being compelling. Ce'Nedra (the princess) did annoy me, but other than that, the characters were all quite nice people, except the bad guys, of course.

And can't so many books be based around that plot outline?

I guess it's just tastes here, I would rank it up near the top of my list with Robert Jordan and David Gemmell.

And there were only 5 parts, 10 if you include The Mallorean ;) :p

England is the place you should go.
It seems a lot of people like quoting that line, or partially, from Braveheart  I used to live in England, and while there is more there, Scotland is a much more scenic place.

"Scotland is a much more scenic place."

When i saw Braveheart, i actually found myself rooting for the English, and wishing that someone would cut off Mel Gibsons head, stupid accend, kiddies face paint, skirt and all.

;)

Well, I can only hope you are joking with that, the ;) I hope means you are. The English really were as described, how people could live like that, I don't know. Disgusting, frankly.

People should read the Rigante series by David Gemmell. The third book gets onto about the time of Bruce and Wallace. It's not exactly the same, but it's a good allegory.

I wouldn't say it was my favourite film, but it's fairly high on my list. That Irish guy is great, although his part is unrealistic, he's just so damned funny!

Ya, hes hilarious.....

They fought tough. But never won anything.

The English were and still are too good for them.

Scottish Nationalism will never get them anywhere.

FREEDOM!
03-04-2003, 08:42 PM
Actually if you really watched the movie you would now that, the queen was pregnant with Williams child, and she was going to be queen, not her husband. So in the end Williams child would rule England, so technicly he won.

I'm 5 minutes from a village, 10 from school, and 30 from the nearest record store or cinema, so I guess you do have me beaten for middle of nowhereness.:D I don't care what they won, Scotland's still better than England, but England is still a great place, so can we stop all of this before a fight breaks out?:)

Wolfshead
03-05-2003, 12:18 AM
Ok, bearing in mind what Rockie said...

Frank: England, at the moment, has 10 times the population of Scotland. Yet we have done better than can be expected considering those odds.

Freedom: Bear in mind that the thing about the queen being pregnant was fabricated. Wallace never would have met the queen. That's a really stupid part of the film, in my opinion.

hhmm, withnail and I, I can't dcide whether I like that or not yet. First time I saw it it just bugged me. Ah well, I'll watch it again see what i think.
I've come to the decision there are far too many films where people smoking drugs feature heavily.

Anyway, I'm off to the shops cos we've run out of eggs and I havent had the amount of pancakes I should've eaten yesterday, so I am officially making this pancake month!

I've never seen that, maybe I will some day. Is it me making things up, or was Jimmy Nail in that film as well?

Anyone watch Posh Nosh? It's got Richard E Grant, and it's hilarious, really, it is :D

And I hoped he'd be Lupin in the next HP film. He's not.

TheFool
03-05-2003, 07:18 PM
Can't remember Jimmy Nail being in it.... it's much more about booze than drugs. There's a suicidal drinking game where you have to drink what they drink in the film (lighter fluid optional):D

mmm.... pancakes.....

Wolfshead

I think I probably made myself think Jimmy Naill was in it. With it being Withnail 'n all

legoman

Jimmy Naill was definately not in it. It did have that annoying fat guy out of pie in the sky though. He was quite disturbing in it!
but he'll never beat the part he played in gormenghast.

Wolfshead
03-06-2003, 05:54 PM
Oh, yeah, him. Richard something-or-other. I didn't really like Gormenghast, I just didn't liked the disgusting nature of a lot of the characters. Maybe I'd like it now, I dunno, maybe if it's repeated.

And just for the record, England is quite beautiful as well. I've fallen in love with this place....
It's just so gorgeous.

For some reason even if you could see the exact same countryside in America it's better if it's English. :)

And you have to dose them, clip their feet, help shear them, and chase them round and round fields during the lambing. Then, I can guarantee you will not like them :p

I enjoyed parts, but not all, perhaps it will grow on me, like a fine wine. we shall see. Mind you I did watch it at about 3am after a bottle of wine, so perhaps I missed some of it.
I shall watch it again and get back to you all.

tookish-girl
03-09-2003, 08:39 PM
Mabel is a song about a sheep by the utterly brilliant Sack Trcik. The lyrics of which are completely unsuitable for this site!

Well, what about the scene where they try to wash the pots? Don't attempt anything without the rubber gloves!!!

Or the scene in the tea-shop as previously mentionned. The very batty uncle Monty with his radish in his buttonhole because he prefers vegetables to flowers.

And of course the chicken:How do we make it dead?

Ahhhhh! priceless! Plus it has Jimi Hendrix and Beatles songs in the soundtrack!

Oh man, what a great quote, TheFool!

We're watching Withnail next week for my British Cinema class. Something to do with anti-Thactherism in film. Interesting.

I'm just looking forward to seeing it on the fairly big screen that our lecture theatre has. My friend met Paul McGann yesterday, she went to see his play in London and he walked into the foyer as she was standing there. Got his autograph, lucky lucky lucky!

Has anyone actualy tried the drinking game, by the way? I'm game!

tookish-girl
03-12-2003, 07:19 PM
Thanks, the disclaimer's been up for about 2 months now!

Anyway, you simply have to match the characters drink by drink, including the lighter fluid!

I'm pretty sure if you do it, you'dbe dead before they leave London and rigor mortis would have set in by the time they reach the tea shop!

Actually I didn't like that film much. It went along with the full monty as in pants films about factory workers who can't think of anything interesting to do.

Doesn't say a lot for factory workers in my book. All the things in the world and they thought, lets blow our own trumpets.

Ok, so I don't know a lot about factory workers, having never worked in a factory myself, nor know anyone who does.

Another British film then, and this ranks 3rd in my top films list, When Saturday Comes with Sean Bean. A brilliant film!

What's the matter with you, man?
Actually I didn't like that film much. It went along with the full monty as in pants films about factory workers who can't think of anything interesting to do.

Have you missed the point of these films? They are about people who have been laid off work. In Brassed off, the only thing they have left to keep their community going is the brass band whih is why they strive to keep it going after the pit closes and in The Full Monty, they resort to stripping becuase it's the only way they can get some serious money, and in one case, that's needed to so Robert Carlisle's character can see his son.

And they're sooooo funny! I'm really confoosed, you don't seem to like any cool films anymore. You'll be saying you don't like Trainspotting next! You should be imprisonned in a large pyramid type thing, Mum-ra!

Withnail is growing on me, we've borrowed the video and I will watch it again and probably like it. You have to take into consideration it was a saturday night at about 2am when we decided to watch it and well if it was anything like last saturday - at will and bobs with you lot - well you're lucky I remember any of it.
