Apparently the last song on the CD is a special bonus track that will appear in the extended version of the Fellowship DVD. Gotta love it!

Has anyone listened to it in its entirety? I heard the one song, "Gollum's Song" and if that is any indication of what it sounds like, I'm scratching it off my Christmas list. That chick who sings it SOUNDS like Gollum!
Horrible....Where is Enya? I wish they'd stay more instrumental. There are too many singers on it.

I just heard Isengard unleashed (downloaded it from www.elizabethfraser.com (http://www.elizabethfraser.com) I wasn't too impressed, but I also have Forth Eorlingas an The Riders of Rohan and I liked those a lot. So we'll see...

I have heard each song in its entirity and all I can say is that I think this CD is better than the last. They have incorporated more singers into, but a lot of the singing is almost a part of the instruments section. There are several songs in lovely elvish and the last song "Gollum's Song" is the only on that I found rather bizarre. But I think it is growing on me.

Well, since I absolutely loved the first one I'll trust you Ariana, and so I am now even more looking forward to it... but after all we only have to wait 10 more days (Dec. 9th wasn't it?).

The woman who sings Gollum's song sounds a bit like Björk. I don't think it's bad,but it's not brilliant either.

Where once was light, now darkness falls.
Where once was love, love is no more.
Don't say goodbye.
Don't say I didn't try.
These tears we cry,
are falling rain
For all the lies you told us,
the hurt, the blame.
And we will wait
to be so alone.
We are lost,
We can never go home.
So in the end,
I'll be what I will be,
No loyal friend,
was ever there for me.
Now we say goodbye,
we say you didn't try.
These tears you cry,
have come too late.
Take back the lies,
the hurt, the blame.
And you will wake
when you face the end alone.
You are lost,
you can never go home.

LOL, I am not sure about that, but thanks for the compliment. I too am planning on purchasing the normal version. I highly doubt that the stuff on the special CDs is anything special that I can't get my hands on later. ;). Either that or I will buy it used on half.com.

A wonderful continuation of the first soundtrack. The vocals in "Forth Eorlingas" are very evocative to me of the female warrior that Eowyn embodies. The opening, "Foundations of Stone" just rocks, (Maori's singing like Welsh miners?) and a very ethereal theme that to me sounds like the eagle. I think some of the music here is "Gandalf Uncloaked" in his falling battle with the balrog. Treebeard was where Howard has an opportunity to take a cue from the book, where I believe Tolkien went into detail about the Ents sounding like great woodwinds, and drumming on themselves as they marched. Isengard Unleashed is definitely going on my running CD. Nice use of the Lothlorien theme in The Leave Taking. Elizabeth Fraser's vocal stylings are perfectly haunting. (I still lament the exclusion of Loreena McKennitt) Sheila Chandra is a welcome voice in the Elf Siren Keening Soloists. If they got Lisa Gerard, they'd have the whole set.:D Gollum's song is kinda whiney, but what do you expect from him, "Gotta Dance?" Just thank Eru Bryan Adams didn't do it. "Farewell to Lorien" didn't really work for me.

I just listened to Gollum's Song and, disagreeing with almost everyone, I absolutely loved it. When she sang the line 'we are lost, we can never go home' tears welled up:( :) . And the new theme after the singing, what do you reckon? the Frodo/Sam/Gollum theme?

theonring.net is now hosting three quicktime versions of Gollum's Song music video. Well, that's what it says it is, but correct me if I am wrong, doesn't a music video usually include shots of the artist singing the song. This is just a montage of already seen clips from The Two Towers with Gollum's Song playing over it. Hmmmmmm ...

I was waiting to see if Santa would bring one of the soundtracks to either of the 2 LOTR movies, but since he didn't--that's okay--I'm gonna go out and buy maybe both of them. Ever since I saw TTT on opening night (that was so cool) and watched TFOTR on video again a few nights ago, the theme songs and other music from the movies have been swimming around in my head. That music rocks!
You know, I think Howard Shore's music's not bombastic in the way that some action film music can be...then again, these aren't just action films, are they. The music's almost understated in some ways, but, man, it carries a punch, and sure makes you feel the strength of the Fellowship, the magical quality of the Trilogy, not to mention the foreboding of the "unknown." The theme songs are so great.

Well, I just got the TT soundtrack, and it is very good, but I personally still like the FOTR soundtrack better. I guess I need to hear the TT soundtrack more to appreciate it, because it does have a lot of great themes and great orchestration. Perhaps with so much action to score in TTT, the soundtrack is a little less thematic than FOTR, and jumps around a bit more. What do you think?

You definitely need to hear it more often; I started appreciating it after I heard it about five times. I don't think it's better that the FOTR soundtrack, they are equal IMO (though very different).

Thanks, Niniel...you're right...I've been listening to it (TTT) while surfing the forum, and it does become a lot more "friendly." I'm going to enjoy it a lot! And not to sound harsh, but do you notice that the woman who sings Gollum's Song sounds just a little like him (maybe more like Smeagol) in a few spots?! That's what occured to me, anyway.
