This is a little place where you can talk about your favorite sports to watch and play. I like to play soccer and watch baseball. What are yours?

No sports at all.....they bore me to no end. I seem to be in a definite minority among males, though.

I watch Football (american), Cycling (Go Lance!), and the Olympics. Don't play any sports though except I do archery every once in awhile.

I finally figured out the rules for football... after going to every home football game for the past 4 years...and I actually like it... I used to think it was really boring , but that was just because I didn't understand it.:)

I took fencing for three weeks at a rec center (try looking at those for lessons)... but I quit cause I didn't like my teacher much....

It's fun, but yeah, get a teacher that you like if you're going to take it.

I like football (this would be the original version, non-american) and rugby, mostly. Although I'm pretty good at badminton as well. Quite a few sports I'm reasonably good at, only a few I really suck at.

Incidentally, I played squash for the first time today...

I don't like watching *any* sport except football (soccer), but I like playing football (american and soccer), baseball, archery, paintball (if you think it's not a sport, you haven't had to run screaming for your life before), ice and roller skating, and various PE sports involving balls being hurtled at you at incredible velocities :D

Oh yeah, I forgot to mention that. I'm gonna learn to fence someday, but unfortunately, there's nowhere around here to do it. Maybe when I go to uni, or not. I doubt I'd be able to afford it then...

Football (American) is my favorite sport. I'm still learning a lot about it, but it's pretty cool.

I don't like Baseball because nothing really exciting happens,
I don't like Basketball because nothing really exciting happens,
I don't like Soccer because nothing really exciting happens,
I don't like Hockey because it's a really long game (it can be exciting, but it's pretty long).
Any other sport on this planet is stupid because it has nothing to do with Football.

I like football (soccer) and basketball out of your list there - Interesting fact. Basketball was not invented in the USA, but Canada, or so my Maxim advent calender told me a couple of days ago :p.

And Eliot, you realise that by using Eowyn as your av, new members will inevitably get your gender wrong? Unless of course it is me that has been fooled by the previous Aragorn av?

Nothing exciting happens in soccer?!?! You've obviously never had the rush of screaming "GOOOOOOAL!!" at 430am (because that's how early the games come on if you want to see them live in the World Cup ;)) World Cup soccer has got to be the most exciting sport ever! You can feel the energy of the crowd through the TV...really awesome :)

PS.....

GO DEUTSCHLAND!!!! (2006, here we come!)

Strangely, I never root for an American team...not even in the Olympics. Weird...

Street hockey is fun. I'd like to do paintball, but I've never done it before.

umm, CraigSmith, I think you are wrong. Basketball WAS invented in the US by a guy by the name of Dr. James Niamsmith(I know I spelled that wrong, but that was the best I could come up with) who used peach baskets nailed up 10 feet high, because thats how high the bleachers. I know I'm right.

CraigSmith, how many girls do you know with the name "Eliot"? Probably none. I'll still change my avatar. :D

Eliot

Just so you know, I only had that avatar because I think Miranda Otto is H-O-T HOT!!! :D

Ok, so you could be right about it being invented in the USA. I don't have any proof to contradict you on that. But this is what my Maxim advent calender says alongside a nice picture of a model...
15th December

On this day: Basketball is invented in 1891 by Canadian James Naismith. So the Americans can't claim credit for it, leaving them with just rounders with gloves on, and rugby with body armour.
So, it would appear to be a Canadian idea, due to the guy being Candadian. I would think the fact it might have been in America irrelavent.

Well, it ain't definately a one-gender name, no offence meant. Someone could mis-interpret if you had a feminine avatar. But, it matters not now, you've changed it back to Aragorn. :)

Ok. Maybe this James guy was Canadian, but he was a gym teacher in the US, so he invented basketball in the US.
