I clicked on a link to read a bio of Sarah Mcleod over at Theonering.net
today. She of course plays Rosie Cotten and she said something interesting. She spoke of the long hours it took to have the hobbit feet applied each morning and complained that you can't even see them in her scenes in Fellowship. Then she added that perhaps we would get a look at them in the third film. This was interesting to me. If Rosie Cotten is going to be in ROTK then perhaps we will indeed see a little more of the story beyond the destruction of the ring. Would love to hear your thoughts.

I can't imagine why they would bother to include the character of Rosie as we've seen her so far if they didn't intend for Sam and her to get together at the end of RoTK.

Also, there's a picture out there of Sam walking up to the door of Bag End with a little girl (his real-life daughter actually, in Hobbit costume) running up to him. The prevailing wisdom is that this is Elanor.

Yeah, I saw that pic too. That was pretty interesting. Somebody said that it WAS Elanor. So that means that Sam and Rosie will probably get married in the movie.

Well, why shouldn't they? It's in the book (though that's no gurantee), but since PJ obviously is interested in 'romantic issues' he will be glad to have an opportunity to include the Sam & Rosie love story. I mean, there were some pretty obvious hints in FOTR.

I think there are some interesting aspect to the Elanor theory (I say theory because that pic may have just been him really hugging his real life daughter, with absolutely no connection to the movie). First of all it suggests two things. Either 1), Frodo stays in the Shire for a while before leaving, or 2), after Frodo leaves we get to see more of Sam. I much prefer the first one, simply because I think the ending in the book is absolutely perfect. In fact, I much rather it just end with Sam, Merry, and Pippin looking at the boat leave, and hear the sounds of the waves.

Something else occured to me. There is a very good chance that Legolas, Gimili, and Aragorn will be at the shore when folks leave as well. In fact, seeing as how PJ likes the idea of having the climax involving those who the story is about, Aragorn will have to be involved in the climas somehow. Some have rumoured at us seeing the end of his and Arwens tale, but I hope not. We'll see. :)

That is definetly not Real LIfe, since I don't believe that actor goes around wearing a cape. And he has curly hair.

AAAAhhhhh, I see what you mean. Are you sure the actor has a family though? And it would be sorta strange for him to have his daughter all the way in New Zealand with him, unless she was visiting of course.

Well, I'm sure Sean Astin has a wife and daughter, and since the filming took 15 months, it wouldn't be so strange if they were living there with him, right?
I liked the picture, but I didn't like the one of Aragorn as King, he looks really weird.

On disk 4 of the EE, Billy Boyd mentions that Sean Astin's family were in NZ with him. He said they were all considered "uncles" to Sean's daughter by the time they finished shooting. :)

Now that would be a cool extended family.

Might as well add this little tibit here:

On the production commentary (it's the third one), one of the producers mentions how Rosie Cotton will have a much bigger part at the end of the third film. This bit of commentary is at the Green Dragon scene.

This has nothing to do with Hobbits and Halflings but I just heard something disturbing, although I'm sure you all have haerd it. Apparently, Shelob Is NOT in TTT!!!! How disappointing!!!

Apparently they thought something more was needed for Frodo's part in ROTK.

I can see them enlarging Rosie's role, which is fine with me. But getting rid of shelob? that would be a major mistake. Though they may be doing it cause the Harry potter movie also has a spider scene, though I haven't seen the Harry potter movies.

I don't think theyre getting rid of it totally just moving it back into the 3rd film instead.

Why do you think they would move Shelob to the 3rd movie? I would think it would be so all those Elijah Wood fanatics out there dont get mad, think Frodo dies, and dont come back to see the 3rd movie. :D Seriously, I think it might have something to do with that!

As far as I know, there have been shots filmed of Sam with his daughter Elanor because I read somewhere the Sean Astin's daughter was chosen to play Elanor in the film the Return of the King. But things can change over three years.

MAN, he looks REALLY different in that picture, almost scary.

Niniel

Yeah, I really don't like that. Why on earth did they show exactly this picture? There must be a better one (I hope, or we'll have to watch a freaky Aragorn during the whole film).

Maybe there trying to make him look more kingly, but I'm not sure if his new look has that effect. Man, what would be really cary is if they really changed the story and had something wird happen, like a character dieng who's not supposed to die.
