I absolutely cannot wait for TROTK to come out cuz I think that is going to be the best movie yet. Which movie (out of the three) do you think will be the best?

I don't actually see any point in this type of thread considering only one of the movies has been released, the other is due out in 3 weeks or so and the next in over a year. How can one actually compare when we have not yet finished debating FOTR vs TTTs?

I cannot pick one just like that either, but I also have a hunch that FOTR might be the best one, because it offered a first glance into ME.

I didn't vote.
Don't know what to vote for. I only one that came out was FOTR, I have no idea how the other movies will be.

*Reaches down and gives a hand to Flame, and then dances merrily around cyber space, while humming the tune to concerning hobbits, hand in hand with her fellow Tolkien fanatic in excitment over the next two films* ;)
I personally think that The Return of the King just might be my favorite, but honestly don't know.

I can't make my mind up...
Actually, I can't vote one over the other.
I know the FOTR movie by heart (I watch it too often, but I can't stop watching it).
I know the TT previews by heart, & I am dying to see the movie. I'll see it a billion times...
The ROTK... I don't want to think about it too much or I'll go crazy... ;D
So my vote goes to the LOTR Trilogy ;) (The best action, adventure, fantasy, etc... movies ever made) ;p
Later.

According to my dad who has already seen the film, don't ask how, it is incredibly intense but less gory than Fellowship. Oh, and he says that the ENTS ROCK!

YAY!!! I love the Ents!!! I love the Ents!!! I love the Ents!!! Oh btw, did I say,"I love the Ents!!!"?
Then with a crash came a great ringing shout: ra-hoom-rah! The trees quivered and bent as if a gust had struck them. There was another pause, and then a marching music began like solemn drums, and above the rolling beats and booms there welled voices singing high and strong.
We come, we come with roll of drum: ta-runda runda runda rom!
The Ents were coming: ever nearer and louder rose their song:
We come, we come with horn and drum: ta-rūna rūna rūna rom!
Bregalad picked up the hobbits and strode from his house.
Before long they saw the marching line approaching: the Ents were swinging along with great strides down the slope towards them. Treebeard was at their head, and some fifty followers were behind him, two abreast, keeping step with their feet and beating time with their hands upon their flanks. As they drew near the flash and flicker of their eyes could be seen.
'Hoom, hom! Here we come with a boom, here we come at last!' called Treebeard when he caught sight of Bregalad and the hobbits. 'Come, join the Moot! We are off. We are off to Isengard!'
'To Isengard!' the Ents cried in many voices.
'To Isengard!'
To Isengard! Though Isengard be ringed and barred with doors of stone;
Though Isengard be strong and hard, as cold as stone and bare as bone,
We go, we go, we go to war, to hew the stone and break the door;
For bole and bough are burning now, the furnace roars we go to war!
To land of gloom with tramp of doom, with roll of drum, we come, we come;
To Isengard with doom we come!
With doom we come, with doom we come!
So they sang as they marched southwards.
OH, I did love that part....I CAN"T WAIT!!!! :::Jumps up and down with anticipation:::

I'll vote in a year or so.:D
But I really look forward to get the ROTK on DVD, and guess what I'm gonna do? Sit down in front of the TV and watch all three films in a row. What a night that will be.

I just can't wait any longer to see TTT and ROTK! I think I deserve some slapping as well:) I really want to see ROTK because that's my favourite book, but I'll settle for TTT for the moment (only 8 days to go!!!!).

I probably shouldn't vote, since I've only started to read ROTK (and have forced myself to shy away from getting too many hints about what happens), but I voted for ROTK, given (IMO) PJ's excellent FILM work, though he obviously takes big detours from the text. The other reason I believe ROTK will be a triumph is because of all the awesome action that (I've heard) happens in the book. I think ROTK could well turn out to be one of the all-time pinnacles of the movie-viewing experience.
Of the first and second films, I still like FOTR the best. I like its more linear quality and the variety of locales and beings in Middle Earth we visit. Then again, I've seen TTT only once, and came out of the theater on a huge high and giggling in a very silly manner, and I can't wait to see it again real soon!

Honetly its hard to say which one out of the three is the best, but I think all three are great for their parts in the trilogy. I heared TROTK will be the best though.

After seeing TTT, I am thinking that the ROTK will be very good, and considering all that they left out of TTT and those parts are really good parts. I am leaning in the direction of ROTK being my favorite at this moment.

I am new at this so please be patient with me ...
wow ... maybe your dad has seen some of rotk ... :)
Then someone can answer me how are they going to fix the continuity problem I see in TTT?
I LOVE the movies and the books; but TTT seemed like something was missing out of it. It left me really hanging.
I also didn't like what they did to Aragorn, making him seem interested in Eowyn, it seemed contrived.
AND HOW WILL THEY GET ARWIN AND NARSIL INTO ROTK?
I enjoy your writing very much and just thought you could solve my uneasyness at TTT.
I voted for Return of the KING, because I hope it brings it all together so I can enjoy TTT ...

I chose ROTK, not only b/c its my fav book of all the LOTR, but I want to see Pellenor Fields, I wonder if the orcs will fling over severed heads on fire like they did in the book, plus Eowyn fighting the witch king will be cool.;)
Well, I think RotK. The book is so good and is my favorite of the three. I read it for the third time over Christmas break in 3 days. 6 hours a day I read it because it is THAT good and anyone should read it. I told my friend to read it even though he hadn't read FotR or TTT just because it was so very great.

I picked FOTR only b/c I always enjoy the first movie of a series the best because it introduces everything for you.

I think TROTK certainly has the potential to be the best of the three, but that remains to be seen. Certainly TROTK was my favorite of the three books.

Choosing between the three movies will be just as hard as choosing between the three books. For me, this can not be done. When I'm reading the Fellowship I'd have to say the Fellowship. While reading RotK I'd have to say RotK. Right now I am reading Towers, so.... and then I know it isn't the best so I can't say it. I love the Fellowship, more than Towers I think. And that was probably because I hadn't read the book before and didn't know what changes were taking place. I have really high hopes for RotK. I think PJ will try really hard not to let us all down. I voted Rotk because I think that watching it in theaters will be the best experience (except maybe watching FoTR that one time having never read the books). I voted RotK, and this thread is really making me look forward to it a lot. Now I have to go count how many more days I have to wait. Thanks.
Maybe RotK won't be the best. The whole time I am watching it I will probably be really sad that it is the last one. I will probably start crying when it ends, like I did when I first finished the book.

Ok; I now have seen TTT for the 3rd time. It is THE middle child!!!
I know now it is not going to stand alone. Too many minor changes in the characters.
I think though that I understand why PJ did some of it.! ??!! :)
But certain things will always bug me. :(
The ending was too contrived. The 3rd time I actually enjoyed it more, until ...."we have victory" ... hugs between a/e ... then the men ride away.
the "She" scene doesn't bother me as much ...
I guess it is when PJ changes characters and how they will respond to things ... that bothers me.
How did PJ justify the triangle theory of A/Aragorn/E. It doesn't stand up and is contrived at best and for what?
In the matter of the 40+relationship A/A have; Aragorn would never be looking for a replacement that fast. Though this time I did see more; 'Eowyn's hopes', in the whole thing. Eowyn's 'crush' / desperation at being 'caged' I actually can see.
Pj must be setting up the WK thing. :)
The Arwen 'leaving' scene will more than likely open Rotk ...
YES!!!! :)
Maybe Arwen will finally make an escape from Elrond and show up somehow with the banner and narsil !!! Some Rangers, her Brothers ...
Then the plots will be interwoven again. Bring in 'She' and off we go!!!
Oh well; I am now more convinced my favorites will be ROTK the Fotr and TTT will be a weak third ... again the middle child syndrome or NL got too involved!!! :)
Unless after TTT ExDVD and RoTk if fits like a puzzle piece that is left for last ...
Sorry, if I got slightly off track; but you want the three compared, and it is hard to say it with few words ... Hey Tolkien took years and years to tell this story !!!! ")
oK IT HAS MADE 400 MILLION + WORLDWIDE ... IT KIND OF DOES STAND ALONE ...:)

I still like Fellowship of the Ring the best. The Two Towers is a cool movie, but it's very fast paced, which can get annoying. The Return of the King is going to probably be the same way. I'm a slow based person so I'll go with The Fellowship of the Ring. Plus I like the soundtrack the best.

I am hoping that the final film will be a combination of the elements of the first two films. I also hope that it will be longer than three hours. I am hoping for 4 or 4 and 1/2. Of course there will have to be an intermission half way, but I can imagine that the fans will quite enjoy the film no matter even if it is longer than normal.
