Exactly. I don't have enough space in my room to pile books...they mostly get stacked on my spare bed. But I don't think all the books on my mental stack would fit anywhere anyway.

Frodo's a great character! Although I'm more of a Merry fan now. Merry's cooler than Pippin because he helps slay the Witchking. At first I hated Gollum, but now he's on my list of favourite characters too.

Any acronym that not everyone knows = creepy. Because certain people are able to run around and say it just to be evil and mysterious. oh well. Let me see here. No, Frodo is achingly boring. How interesting is his personality compared to Gollum's?

Frodorocks

Equal, I'd say.
Frodo's a hobbit, yet he wants to get out of the Shire and have adventures and do fun stuff. But Gollum's a twisted, warped, green hobbit who likes fish. So, as I said before, they're equal.

TBR stacks; heheh, I found it.... I mean where yay asked about it:rolleyes: :o well, I have lots of books I want to read, but my dad already owns or wants to own most of them, so its not that mental since he buys almost everything he wants (within reason) and I dont have that many things lying around my room because I have a BOOK-CASE, say it w/ me....j/k....but my bookcase is completely full, and no I have like 10 books stacked by my bed...my dad has lined the walls w/ books...in his bedroom, he has two, 3 shelf book caseswhich have books in front of books, in front of books in front of books, so you only see about a third of whats there...heheh and then the hall has 3, 5 shelf bookcases which are full to bursting w/ hard back books... then there are 2 more 5 shelf bookcases in the garage which are even more full than the afore mentioned, then my bookcase upstairs which has not been replaced by a bigger one already because my older brother reads a book, then gives it to me, I read it, then my little brother reads it, and unless its of any real literary value, he then gives it to salvation army....we got rid of the last of the "little kid books" 2 months ago....I fear for where my books might go....we really do need a new bookshelf...

OMG.....I seem to have gotten *gasp!* a little carried away... :o  :D

Yes, you did. Ick. Anyways, Woah! Crazy person who's name I won't say, that makes no sense. oh well. Maybe it's just me being evil. Certain people are interested in certain things. I don't get how some people can think that Frodo is just as interesting as Gollum. Craziness. *collapses*

Yay, this was the 1st time you actually agreed that people can like different things:rolleyes: But I must admit. You`re policy is working. The last time I reread the LOTR I looked at Gollum differently. He`s something.

Frodorocks

I'm probably not making sense, oftentimes I don't. :D
Annushka's right, when I read LotR after meeting lots of Gollum fanactics,(Scary people! ) Gollum did seem more interesting.

Hey, I have no problem with saying that different people like different things. I just don't have to agree with their insane views. oh well. Anyways, Yay me! I'm always happy to enlighten a few people. Have you seen the thread full of my insane theories? I think it's called Creepy Dwarf Theory and it's in the The Hobbit section.

You just proved that I was right:) You say - their insane views. But our views are not insane. As well as yours. I meant that you think that your opinion is the ONLY one that makes sense. But I think that`s not right. So when somebody says something I don`t agree with I get interested and try to understand what is it that makes this person think that way. Of course if that person isn`t not a total idiot in my eyes:D And now I`ll go check your crazt theories:)

Ack, scary Annushka person! Plenty of people have been able to make me change my mind. I'm just achingly stubborn and won't pay attention unless they try. oh well. When I was at school instead of two negatives make a positive our teacher used to say: my enemy`s enemy is my friend, my friend`s enemy is my enemy and so on. That made it much easier to remember:)

Yay, I didn`t mean that it`s impossible to make you change your mind. I`d never say something like that cause such people are usualy not very smart, and you obviously are:D I just meant that somebody`s opinion is usualy not the only one right. For example you think that Frodo is boring, I don`t. That means that Frodo is boring to you but not to me. And nothing more. That doesn`t mean that I`m right and you`re wrong. If that makes any sence to you:)

Hmm...I liked Gollum even before I met Yay. But that might also be because I have a friend who really likes Gollum (though he's not his favorite character) and can do the Gollum voice hilariously.

euh?  well, that makes sense and all, but I dont see how it refers to 2 negatives=positive.....oh wells:confused:

about the arguing, I think annushka's right, an opinion is an opinion, and it can't be proven wrong or right, though you may be abole to persuade the person to think about it differently if you nudge gently and present valid facts....like a debate, except that no one will win, because they are opinions

yes, I realise what I just said is pointless, because annushka said it, and I was just reiterating (right word? sp?) but it doesn't matter, it is one of my obsessions!

Imagine that by saying enemy you mean the negative. In that case two negatives (enemies) make a positive (friend). Does that make sence now?

Kaili has the strongest desire to call me Nushy:) I really don`t mind. The funny thing is that my real name is much shorter than Annushka which is based on it.

Kailita
05-14-2003, 07:44 PM
Wow D, you actually spelled "reiterating" right!:D *Claps*

Yes, agh, the urge to call Annushka "Nushy" is so overpowering, and I'm shocked that it hasn't gone away yet! *Bashes it with her javelin handle* I can't really think of any other nicknames besides that, either. Is your real name Ann, Annushka? And you just made it longer? Just wondering. Does the name Annushka mean anything or did you just like the sound of it?

05-15-2003, 06:21 PM
How did you guess? Actually my name is Anna. My family and friends call me Annushka (when they aren`t mad at me). I absolutely love when they do:) It`s russian. Anyway, I don`t wanna be Anna here. If you like you can call me Nushy, but please not Anna. That`s a boring name:)

Kailita
05-15-2003, 07:36 PM
Yes...Anna does not capture the intricate layers of personality that is Annushka. :D Nushy doesn't sound quite right either, though...like something you would call a pet pig or something, in my mind at least. Oh crackers. I'll think of something...

I once had a grandmother that was a nanny to a superly cool little girl named Anna. We were about the same age and I always got to go over. Huge house. Way too rich people. The parents loved me because they had about three little annoying girls and no boys. I got to go to superly expensive birthday parties all the time. Got to play with all kinds of superly cool toys. But after a while, they didn't need a nanny anymore and I missed hanging out over there. Not too long ago, I ran into Anna and her family at a restaurant somewhere. *bawls* Very sad. She had turned into a superly snooty and evil teenager. The parents were still cool, though. oh well.

Why can't people be evil and stubborn and stop the insane and brain-altering evilness that messes with teenagers? That's what I do. oh well. Anyways, don't call the person Shush. That means to be quiet. Call her Afnmnmupusfghkjljaf. That's Annushka in my insane little code. Oh, wait. You people love shortened names. Whoops! I should have been an Ent.

Annushka
05-16-2003, 10:14 AM
Teenagers aren`t all evil. But that`s strange cause the worst things come out at that age. And people are very insecure at that time too. I would never wanna be back then.
What is really sad is when people you used to love or appreciate suddenly or not change and become total strangers or belong to the other camp. That`s the worst thing that can happen to me. I can do nothing about that. It just happens. Just have to accept it.

/ Nushy doesn't sound quite right either, though...like something you would call a pet pig or something, in my mind at least. Oh crackers. I'll think of something.../

That`s terrible: a pet pig name. No no no:( I don`t want my name to be associated with a pig:D Though little piggis are fun.:)Anyway if I only knew what a problem my name would become I`d think of something else:) I`ll accept anything you people choose.
And Yay what does that Afnmnmupusfghkjljaf mean?? You always call me a scary person so I guess nothing good:D;)

Kailita
05-16-2003, 07:58 PM
*Laughs* Yay calls practically everything and everyone scary.:D Don't worry...don't take it personally.

But Yay...what a sob story about your friend Anna! :( I hate it when that happens! So horrible! I think I want to skip these teenage years and be stuck in my twenties forever. That way I won't have to get old, but I'll be past all the insecurities and uncertainties. :D

Shush is a cool name! :D *Falls in love with it* I think if we can call someone Yay and someone Jam, there's no reason why we shouldn't call someone Shush. And if it means to be quiet, all the better! Strange = fun! As long as Annushka doesn't mind...:)

The-Elf-Herself
05-17-2003, 12:53 AM
Hmmm. I don't mind being a teenager. It's just another stage of life, there's no law saying you have to be annoying snooty and stupid. Most parents can't wait for their kids to get through their teens and go off to college, mine don't want me to leave because I'm just so nice I guess. Huzzah for us teens being non-idiotic, superly interesting, intelligent, and outcast teenagers!

Hmmm, if Annushka doesn't have a problem with the nickname, than I don't mind. Sounds good to me.

Dragon
05-17-2003, 01:32 AM
well, shush is sort of quiet seeming... *has already taken to calling her that*what do you think, shush?

.....I always beleived that you didn't have to be a teenager if you didn't want to be, you just had to be teen-aged which sounds silly, but if you think about it, it makes sense!:D  I guess jam just isn't a teenager:rolleyes: ....yay, I guess your friend was just too weak-willed to withstand the evilness:(

Kailita
05-17-2003, 02:07 AM
I completely agree with Jam and D's view on the teenage years, but with my own spin on it. I hate it when people classify teenagers as rebellious troublemakers, because we're not all like that. I'm not annoying, snooty, or stupid. I am, as Jam so brilliantly put it, a non-idiotic, superly interesting, intelligent Outcast teenager.

However...the thing about the teenage years...despite knowing who I am pretty well and being fairly secure with myself, there is still a lot of uncertainty about everything that happens with me and around me. I'm still supposedly too young to know what I want, too young to fall in love, too young to make important decisions. I'm supposed to be "finding myself", which I'm doing...but I'm ready to move on to the next stage! I want to get out of all this maybe/maybe-not and move to something solid where I can know what I want, make decisions, fall in love. Does that make any sense...?

The-Elf-Herself
05-17-2003, 03:38 AM
Yes it does. I feel that way occasionally. Usually when someone says "well you're just a teenager, you can't possibly know what you're talking about." That makes me really irritated, because even though I am in my teens and do not have all the experience that years bring, there is no dang LAW saying I can't observe others of all ages, analyze their situations, and draw my own conclusions and probabilities from those observations. So their statement is inaccurate, I DO know what I'm talking about, just viewed from a different angle and lacking a few measely years of living. Back on topic, that feeling you describe, Kai, usually fades away once I realize that to "rush ahead" I would miss out on the simple things, like petting my basset hound who's so old that she'll probabaly be dead by the time I go to college, or enjoying freedom from all these cares and worries that my parents are always talking about(even though I'm not gong to freak out as much as they do). You only get to live once, why try to rush ahead? My philosophy is learn from the past, live in the present, and plan for the future. As for love, to be blunt I don't think any teenager is really prepared to deal with all that junk, no matter how much they think they are. It's a hugely important thing that often turns out badly, in that case I think a few years do make a world of difference.

Rhiannon
05-17-2003, 04:46 AM
I think that there are teenagers who are evil and stupid and immature and awful, and they give us non-idiotic, superly interesting, intelligent Outcast teenagers a bad name. And I spend a lot more time talking to adults than I do to other teenagers. But I know that I am intelligent, articulate, thoughtful, opinionated, morally grounded, I have a good idea of what I want for my life, and as the good book says, "Don't let anyone look down on you because you are young..."

YayGollum

I thought I already said that Afnmnmupusfghkjljaf was just Annushka in my crazy code. oh well. Let me see here. I don't know anyone that's especially and purely evil. Not even a teenager. The stereotype (which just happens to be covered in gobs of the truth) makes all kinds of sense. That doesn't mean that their are exceptions. Obviously. Anyways, yes, I gots to feel sorry for Anna. Maybe she'll grow out of it. It probably won't affect me either way, though. oh well. Happens all the time. I need someone to feel sorry for, right?

Kailita
05-17-2003, 08:46 AM
When I say that I want to get out of my teenage years and be stuck in my twenties, of course I don't really mean it. I know that the experience I'm getting right now by living through my teens is what I'm going to need to help me out once I get into my 20s, 30s, etc. I just mean that I hate being steriotyped (note: there are also many evil, stupid, immature, awful adults out there, too...they're not all teenagers!) and I hate all the not-knowings, as far as what is going to happen and where my life is headed. But, as it is, I'm stuck where I am, and I'm dealing with it. This is where I'm supposed to be, so I'm making the most of it.:) I just don't want to have too many regrets when I look back on my life. As far as love goes...aiieesh...I'm not even getting into that.

Yikes! Anyways, Ack! I don't get why the stereotype would make you mad if you make it achingly clear that you don't fit into it. I have achingly distanced myself from pretty much everyone my own age and won't get tossed into that group. just the Outcasts. Which is good. I could see why you'd get mad if someone new mistook you for the average and boring and evil type, though.

Dragon
05-18-2003, 04:29 AM
huh. I hate the stereotype too, but you cant change it, unless you can improve on the worst of all teenagers, which would be hard....admit it, people look at the worst in a group, and judge everyone by thatmy math teacher always says to us "you have to behave because they see one of you accting out, and they say, 'those middle-shoolers are nothing but trouble' ", and I hate it, but she's right, but also, she's blaming us 4 them blamming us.....just like her and the rest of the world, someone gets victimized, and you blame the victim "now, don't wear short shorts, girls, 'cause you might get raped, and then it would be all your fault" kiss my-....ugh! no cussing, right?

heheh, I like to go into chatrooms and see how old people think I am... they usually think I'm like....a 35 yr. old man:rolleyes: :D weird, huh?

Annushka
05-18-2003, 08:34 AM
I can`t decide whether I hate stereotypes or not:D They are evil of course but absolutely natural. People aren`t able to spend much energy on other people to figure out what they really are so it`s easy to just put them into groups and explain their lives according to the rules of the certain category. I really don`t care about being stereotyped. I know what I am, what I want. So if anyone wants to have opinion about that I don`t mind. But people are so stupid that they think that they have the right to dictate you what you should be. I think that`s the main thing to drive me crazy. It REALLY buggs me. I can`t understand that. Don`t those people have their own lives to be interested in?? Why do I have to explain anything to others:mad: I don`t stick my nose in their business. But have to spent tones of energy to keep them away.

quote
/I have achingly distanced myself from pretty much everyone my own age and won't get tossed into that group. just the Outcasts./

That`s exactly what I`m talking about. Feeling and being distanced. That makes me happy. I`ll die if one day I discover that I`m just an average person with average needs and thoughts:(

P.S. Shush is fine with me:)

Kailita
05-18-2003, 06:46 PM
Hurray! Shush likes her name! :D We should have a christening party for her...

People don't steriotype me with the teenager brand when I'm with my usual friends. Then I get steriotyped as ---> geek, loser, psycho, or anti-social.;):D What funness. What bugs me is when I walk into a 7-11 and see the manager looking at me suspiciously and suspecting the worst just because I happen to be of a certain age group. I don't want him to judge me before he even knows me. Gah, all I want is a slushy, okay??

D's right, everyone is judged by the WORST one of their group.

Exactly! So true! And this exact same truth that Shushy seems to have accepted so well still bugs the Helen of Troy out of me! Just because someone's too lazy to get to know me doesn't mean they have the right to steriotype me. It's their loss in the end, I guess.

Stereotypes are a fact of life. My opinion is, if you can't beat it(right away), then study it. My particular fascination is how a person looks can influence the behavior of others around them. I'll sometimes dress "gothic" or deliberately sloppy or "preppy" and then observe other people's reactions to me. It's very interesting. I had no idea how a person dressed could affect how they're treated so much. To me it's just clothes, what matters is the person who's wearing them. I just find it surprising when I talk to so many people who say they look beyond appearances, but then act in a completely different way when faced with who's appearance they dislike. While I do agree that clothing can and usually is subconsciously/consciously a reflection of a person's inner mood, personality, or what have you, it's far too easy to use that as a way of deciding whether or not you will like them. For example, those messy clothes could be a sign of a careless mind, depression, or it could mean that the person just wanted to be comfortable that day. "Preppy" clothes could mean that the person is from a rich family, that they're a snob, or that they just came from their sibling's graduation. There are too many variables to exact an opinion of someone based on what they look like accurately. Rather than distance myself from people, I like to go among them with a clinical air and see how they really are(an easy thing to do for me, since I have fifty dozen interests). Even the "worst" people are interesting.

As for myself, I'm completely indifferent to the assumptions other people make of me. If they really cared to get to know me, they'd talk to me instead of judging how I am based on my age group, activities, or physical traits. So as Kai said, it's their loss.

YayGollum
05-18-2003, 10:41 PM
I say ---> If you can't beat it, ignore it. Maybe I'm just lazy, but oh well. Ack! Crazy people! Why care what people think of you? Ignore them! Anyways, Yikes! I didn't know that what you wear has to do with how you are. I just go for my favorite color and comfortable type stuffs. *sniff*

The-Elf-Herself
05-18-2003, 10:52 PM
It has both everything and absolutely nothing to do with what a person is. You just told me: you go for your favorite color and comfortable stuffs. So you did put some thought into what your wore, or else you would have just picked anything, be it shorts or a heavy sweater. Clothes do reflect something about a person, be it extremely simple or profound. There are just so many possibilities about what exactly yours and others clothing IS reflecting that to judge someone solely upon that is foolish.

YayGollum
05-18-2003, 11:18 PM
So what people wear might have something to do with how they are, but you shouldn't try to figure them out because of it just in case they're trying to mess with your head like you do. Got it.

The-Elf-Herself
05-18-2003, 11:32 PM
Yep, that's it in a nutshell. Well, wait I said you shouldn't stereotype them based on what they wear. Figuring them out, why they wear that is fine and even better if they are trying to mess with your head(although I've yet to meet anyone who shares that particularly odd interest). Once you talk with them it's easy to do. Gosh, doesn't everyone think in irrational logic? It's the only thing that makes sense when dealing with other humans. I dunno.

YayGollum

My evil and annoying and popular little teenaged sister seems to think that she'd dressing certain ways to get crazy reactions from them, then she tells me that she doesn't care what they think of her. That makes no sense to me. If you dress a certain way just to get crazy reactions from people, you do care about what they think. oh well. When I said that figuring it out thing, I was talking about stereotypes. Some people just don't take a lot of time to try figuring people out and jump on the stereotype. oh well. I'm too self-centered to care about what people are wearing most of the time. I would not be a good eye witness type person.

That sounds about right to me. Sometimes people wear things just because they like the way they look or are comfortable in them, not because they're trying to make a statement or belong to a certain group. Though it irks me when preppy people try to go punk and wear the spike belts/bracelets and black or plaid ties. And it drives the "hard-core punks" (their definition of themselves, not mine) up the wall, because they feel like their identity is being stolen by people who don't even understand the whole punk movement and etc, etc. So I guess it goes both ways. Ick. Too complicated.

YayGollum

heh

actually, jam, I do that sometimes too, but mostly I just wear what I feel fits me best   its funny when I come to school one day like a slob, then the next day I'm dressed like a prep

preppy people going "punk"= following trends...that's "in" right now, thanks to Avril lavigne and a few others....they make some good music that lots of people like, and someone starts dressing like them, and they set off achain reaction, and thus a "trend"

to me, clothes have to do with a sense of style and interest, not personality, and the problam lies therein; people judge personalities by clothing, when, they only reflect the sort of things you are intersted in, or care about.

i.e. I like dragons, (and you're saying "no, really?") so I have a lot of T-shirts with dragons on them. I like to be comfortable, so I wear boy's pants and shorts, because they aren't as tight as girls shorts/pants... I get bored easy and I fidget a lot, so I wear a big ball chain that I play with a lot....its sort of like a security blanket..... people infer from stuffs like that that I think I'm a punk, that I'm a bad-asmha, and that I smoke stuff and skateboard... well.... I dont know how to skateboard, I'm generally pretty nice until someone doese/says something mean to me, and I dont consider myself a punk, I like to beleive I am pretty....well....dignified

so, as I provided an explanation for everything I wear; my clothes do say something about me, but they do not tell you the sort of person I am:cool: :

The-Elf-Herself
05-20-2003, 12:57 AM
Exactly. When I'm not testing the psychology of stereotypes, I usually wear plain, comfortable, nondescript clothes, mostly in dark or monochrome colors, stuff that doesn't get in my way.

Cheers for boys pants! Cheers for big pockets! :D:D

Let's see...I wear jeans. All the time. Every day to school. :D My jeans and I are inseparable. I've got all kinds of them, and I heart them because they're easy to move in, nonrestricting, unprovocative, and comfortable. :) (Even though...I have a confession to make. I wore a skirt to school last Monday on something that was kind of a dare/blackmail issue. It was long and gray and flowy with cool pockets, which you hardly ever see on skirts like this. But the worst part is...I rather enjoyed it. *Cringes* ) As far as shirts go, I wear mainly T-shirts, though I have others. And always sweatshirts over those when it's cold outside, like it usually is in the mornings over here in Cali.

So there you go. Kaili's style (if you go so far as to call it that  ). Really not any style in particular, just whatever feels comfortable.

I wear St. John's Bay boot cut jeans (the closest thing I've found to jeans that acknowledge the existence of the thoroughly hourglassed figure), knit shirts with half or 3/4 sleeves in solids, occaisonally a print, and lately, it being summer, peasant blouses with the sleeves pushed up. My black ankle boots appear to be finally dead, so my new footwear is rattan flip-flop platforms from Old Navy. On Sundays or for special occaisons I wear a skirt- preferably and eight gore skirt, always at least calf length, ankle prefered- and one of my nicer shirts, and depending on the outfit either sandals or black calf high boots with four inch heels. I have mentioned my overhweling boot fetish, yes? Good. I avoid short sleeves, only where sleevless under things, and only have on dress, which is black, calf length, and which I usually where with a sweater or other such thing.

Clothes. I kinda like them to be comfortable and to suit me. Altough I have couple of tops terribly UNcomfortable but they are so beautiful that I wear them sometimes. I hate high hills. They are like my enemies.

Hmm, why don't you try cutting it off, Yay? That is, if you don't ever care about wearing it again. Hmmm, might not be much of a solution then. My friend was wearing this hemp necklace and she got it wet, so it shrunk really tight. She ended up cutting it off before she choked herself.

Sure, I did say Ack! when I tried to get it off the first time, but now it doesn't matter. My neck won't grow enough to kill me. Anyways, doobedoobedoo... why wear something that's beautiful but uncomfortable? You can't find a nice middle ground?

high heels are an interesting matter; some are bane to my very existence, others are awesome, exspecially high heeled boots:D :D :D

I dont have any dresses....when I need something nice, I look thru my mom's closet and usually end up wearing something like a bustier and a skirt.....I like to call bustiers boosterers  :D :D

Because beautiful things make me beautiful too:D:rolleyes: I don`t wear them everyday. I`m not crazy.
And I love dresses. Does that make me less outcasted?:) I feel natural in dresses. Anyway in everyday life I wear pants and t-shirts cause I can just forget about them.

You might be able to see the necklace in one of those pictures of poor Smeagol that's in the huge photo album thread on the fourth or fifth page. I don't know. It's simple, not beautiful. I thought it was achingly fitting. Claspses are pure evil. Anyways, why would you be more or less of an Outcast if you like to wear dresses? oh well. Why care about looking pretty? Who do you want to care about it? Clothes are made to protect you from wind and stuff.

Annushka
05-21-2003, 10:57 AM
You know Yay, that`s interesting cause I`ve never thought why people care about looking pretty. People wanna be pretty because...... I don`t know. Different people have different motives. I just can`t figure out what`s mine. But I know that it`s absolutely natural. I don`t know a single girl who doesn`t care about her looks at all. Somebody said - Beauty will save the world:D Well he meant inner beauty so...

The thing is not only looking nice but when you leave some place and people still remember you. Anyway that`s a ritorical question cause for centuries people have admired beauty.

You have this capability to ask questions the answers to which seem obvious. But only from the 1st sight:)

I wish I could not care about my physical appearance at all. I'm on my way...working on it...but I still can't help sighing when I look at myself in the mirror in the morning before I go to school. I don't hate how I look. But there are always just a few little nagging things that I want to change. Still, these days I'll look at myself in the mirror and sigh, but then I'll ask myself, "Who am I going to see today, anyway? My friends. And are they going to care what I look like? Psh......yeah right. The only people that might think I look bad are people that aren't my friends, and do I care what they think of me anyway?" So that's how I get over that vain streak that most adolescent girls have. Maybe it's not even vanity...just the need to look picture perfect.

Yay, you ignore everything you don't want to see. Which is probably both a gift and a curse in itself. But I can't be like that. I mean, I can ignore some things...but others I just can't help wanting to do something about it, even when I know I have no control over it. It's just the way I am. I can't just accept something that irks me and take the "oh well" attitude (which is why I'm boycotting that phrase with "crackers" ).

Hmm...necklaces. I have two necklaces that I never take off. One is my little silver cross, and the other is my purple guitar pick named Cedric (:D) who's strung up on a thin metal chain that I'm using as a necklace. I keep the cross because it reminds me of who I am and Who I belong to, and I keep Cedric because it's been my dream to play guitar since forever (or at least a year or two  ), and Cedric's the first guitar pick I ever got. Now I have another one named Reuben (I have a thing with naming inanimate objects... ), but he just stays in my backpack.

The-Elf-Herself

I care very little about how I look, beyond basic hygiene. I dress to please myself, so it's dependent on my mood, not necessarily on if I'll look pretty. I don't bother with looking picture perfect. If I did I'd probably hate myself, because flaws are interesting. So basically my only thing that I care about is the condition of my hair, because if it looks nice it looks really nice, but if I'm having an off day it looks horrid. Fortunately I haven't had an off day in a while. As for the rest of me, that's how I am and I wouldn't change it. It makes me unique(although the nagging baby fat thing still bugs me. Oh well).

Kai, that's not strange! I take it you haven't heard of my plastic dinosaur-shaped change bank named Zeek? :D

Rhiannon

I never wear jewelry- only every once in a very long while, when I'm going to something dressy. Mom says I never wore jewelry, not even for dress-up (my favorite game) except for tiaras. Those I love. And I never ever wear nail polish. I hate it. It makes my fingers feel heavy.

Shush, I like dresses too, even if I don't wear them much. I like skirts, especially when they're full and they swish. I like them best on Ren fest outfits, though ;)

Kailita

My hair never obeys me. It gets everywhere! Very frustrating, annoys me to no end. I'll brush it and brush it before I go to school, and it'll seem like it's going to behave itself, but all it needs is about half an hour, and then it's tangles and frizz. And I hate brushing my hair at school, because it just seems...ditzy. So I leave it be. I don't think anybody minds it but me.

Zeek! Hehe, that's a cool name...is it short for something? I don't think I've ever named a change bank. But I have Reuben and Cedric (and I've had my eye on this cool plastic pick that I'm going to name Ollie if I get him...all guitar picks are masculine, don't you know...;)), and my guitar Leticia (she's from Spain, so I figured I had to give her a Spanish name), and my cd player Violet.

The-Elf-Herself
05-21-2003, 08:07 PM
Yeah well, mine is slightly wavy, so the tiniest breeze gets it tangled. If I don't brush it a lot it's really painful to do later, so I shrug off other people's opinions and brush it anyways.

Nah, it's not short for anything. The dude just looks like a Zeek. He's going to get decapitated soon, because I've been saving change for over a year and there's some books I want to buy. RIP Zeek, the books come first.

My sister has a pinata llama head named 'Federick'. I have various stuffed animals that hang around and my obsessively arranged books, which I tend to think of as being sentient- ie, my thoughts about them will literally be "Oh, I can't put A Knot in the Grain here, Beauty likes to be next to The Blue Sword". I don't even realize I've done it until later.

We also name our cars. We've had Jenny, the canary yellow Jenson Healy '74 convertable that my father SOLD :( *sniff*, Mary-Beth, the Mercedes-Benz that we only had for a few years (we sort of wound up with it on accident), and Eliza, the 300ZX that we had in Japan, where it's called a 'Fairlady Z'. And now we have a suburban named Westly, and a 15 passenger van called 'the Beast'.

Dragon
05-22-2003, 01:24 AM
heh, I do the naming with things too, but most of the things I name have to have faces...one time I got a blue soccer ball, and I wanted to name it because I felt like it had a MAJORLY apparent personality, but it didn't have a face so I drew one on, and I named it Ike<-----gotta love that name:rolleyes:

I have LOADS of stuffed animals, and I can remember all their names, and if I cant remember one, I give it a new name that fits their personality ( they all have one) and it usually ends up being the same as what I'd already named it (I remember later on)

hey, I bought a dress today    but its pretty....its black and ruffle-y, but not too ruffley and it only has one sleeve, so that insures I'll never wear it to school for anything:D :D

I think dresses are comfortable because they swish and give you a breeze, but I dont wear them because they're SO restricting, you can't do much of anything in them:rolleyes:

Rhian; you just made me remember; WE HAVEN'T NAMED OUR CAR YET!!!!!   I can't believe we forgot for all this time!!! I remember the last one we had was Rosaria, Rosy 4 short, and b4 that we had Blueberry, but our current car has no name!!!

Yay for my ability to ask questions the answers to which seem obvious only from the first sight! That either means that I'm achingly simple or just a little bit smart.

I know why I like to look pretty (or should I say handsome?)! Because I ignore my looks until someone points them out. When they talk about it negatively, I have all kinds of fun with ignoring it. When they compliment me, I don't believe them for a while, then end up acting achingly vain about it in front of that person. Hence, the hair talk. You people aren't like that? *gasp!*

Anyways, sure, we name our carses, but I can't remember any right now. oh well. We have no sentient stuffed animal type things, but we do have three bears and a bunny with achingly cool personalities that we never use anymore. *bawls while he reminisces about the achingly cool plays with those character where he used to put on just to parody fairy tales*

We don't name our cars. My friend does though, her family has a sportscar named Spirit, an old busted minivan called the Old Grey Mare, and a shiny new van appropriately called the Tealmobile.

Oh, all of my stuffed animals have names! My favorite is a stuffed opossum puppet named Fluffy. I love that 'possum. Then there's a stuffed pink & green snake named Slippy, a bright red bear named Mr. Berber, and a blue hippo name Harvie. All my other stuffed animals I've given away or shoved in a closet, but those four I'm keeping forever.

I don't think I have any stuffed animals without names. Naming dolls and stuffed animals were always just a given for me.

My family has never named any of our cars, but as soon as I get a car of my own, you can bet that I'll name it within the first week! Of course, that may not be until I'm out of college.

I'm not good at naming things unless I can see them. That's more with people, though. Some people just look like they should be named a certain thing. I have a weird obsession with naming strangers or renaming friends. My friend Ashley does not look like an Ashley...it bugs me to no end...so I renamed her Molly. Now she does look like a Molly. (I think it might be partly because she bears an uncanny resemblance to Molly the American Girl - if anybody knows who that is. )

There's a girl in my PE period who I've never talked to, but I'm fascinated by her. She has dark brown hair streaked with green in the front, really dark tan skin, dark brown eyes, and she always wears this black leather vest. And the moment I saw her, I said, "She looks just like a September!" So I've been calling her September behind her back ever since. Turns out her real name is Brittany. Brittany. This girl is not a Brittany. Can you think of a more common name? :o (No offense to any Brittanys out there. ;))

Three more things. I love the name Ike (:D), Rhian's car names are very clever, and I love this:

I do! My house has been hosting the homeschool group's American Girls book club, and my sister starred as Addy in the play just a few weeks ago (I painted the set, but was gone during the play). Sounds great Dragon. Lately I've been in the habit of drawing a vine-type thing around my wrist with black permanent marker. It looks cool, doesn't slide around, and (supposedly) doesn't wash off. Hah! Turns out permanent markers aren't so permanent. I have to go over the darn thing every so often. Oh well. I also do anklets. I used to want an American Girl of today doll so much from the age of about eight to twelve. But none of them really looked like me. I think Felicity was my favorite out of the originals, though.

Jamish's permanent marker anklets sound like what I used to do during Driver's Ed when I was bored out of my mind. Except mine probably weren't half as neat as I imagine Jam's are. They always blotched. But I don't have much a gift with that sort of thing.

I had Samantha and my Sister had Molly.

I loved them all. :) Samantha's outfits were so pretty!
And I loved Felicity because she was so Colonial! :) If I could chose now I'd probably get her.
Though I still don't like how you can see her cloth chest above the collars of her low fronted gowns.
I hated that and that was why I didn't want her as a kid.
And let's see...Kirsten was pretty, but one of the girls I went to elementary school used to dress up as her every Halloween and this girl was mean...
So I didn't like Kirsten too much.
And I liked the era of Molly's stories. :) SO MUCH. But I thought she was too plain looking. :D
Hehe.
Silly me.
And there are two more right? Two new ones...Felicity was added to the originals when I was young enough to still count her as "original" but Addy was added after that point...and to me she's a "new" one...but there's another one now isn't there...
*looks it up*
Yes...Josefina. Yay Latinas! ;) And then Kit, and now Kaya.

I think if Kit had been around when I was a kid I would've wanted her. Oooh...and I definitely would've wanted Kaya.
And Josefina is so pretty.
And what better way to get back to my Spanish roots!
I mean...Josephine is my name!!!

Heck I want them all. Can I have them? Esp. Josefina. Yes. I want them all.

And I played with My Little Ponies, too. I had a whole kingdom set up in the guest bedroom (about a year ago when I was still in Japan, the whole youth group, which consisted of me, my sister, and three other girls, were all at the pastor's house for something-or-other, and discovered that in the closet of toys kept around for visiting children there were a bunch of My Little Ponies. Outcast Type Things Done:

My crazy friends and I are achingly close to overstepping our boundaries as the anti-social powers at our school. Close...but not there yet. So we continue to push...:D

We have finally done something we've been talking about for a long time and created the PREPPY card. It's just a little 3 by 5 index card with PREPPY written on it in red marker. But it's like a warning sign. When preps walk by, we gasp, shield our eyes, then hold up the card behind their backs to warn others in the area to keep their distance. :D (We're not dramatic at all. :p)

We also assailed one of the security guards (the one who always yells at me for sliding down the rail *pouts*) with pretzels, goldfish, and other snack foods. *Cringes, but grins*. He deserves it, though. He's evil. We call him Mr. Cool because he's huge bodybuilder with blonde buzzcut and sunglasses always. The other security guards call him Sunny. (We don't ask.) But yes, he was patrolling by our lunch area today, and every time he passed behind a certain pillar, we "subtley" tossed a pretzel or two at his back. Outcast Type Thing Done: So last night we had a huge all-out thunder storm- freezing rain pouring down, waterfalls coming off the edge of the roof, that sort of thing. We like to sit on the porch for these displays, and my sisters- Rachel loooooooooooves thunder storms. And lightening- were out running around in it getting soaked and giving themselves hypothermia. I didn't participate in this, mostly because I was on my last clean pair of jeans and needed to wear them the next day.

But then I decided that hey, my hair is filthy. And why drive up the water bill?

Hurrah! Chinese food for dinner! And silly randomness in the restaurant, always good.

My little sister Melody (11) decided to declare herself Queen of the Universe recently, and all of the children in her (large) circle of friends were dubbed in to her kingdom- but my brother Travis (8) has decided that he does not want to be in Melody's kingdom any more; he's started a rebellion. The war has been going on in the house for some time now. So tonight Rachel and I decided to swear our loyalty to his cause over dinner- we joined hands, said 'all for one and one for all', and then I went and got us a knife, and Rachel and I went down on one knee in the dining room and were dubbed 'General' and 'King's Cook and Librarian', respectively.

And I watched The Odd Couple last night- v. v. hysterical- and Much Ado About Nothing this afternoon- loved it v. v. much.

Cheers for plant-talking, Jam! Everybody says that it does help them grow better. I wasn't sure about that...but if Jamish says it works, it's got to work. Hmm...I should start talking to the tomato plants and roses. :) I already talk to inanimate objects occasionally...my locker, my stuffed animals, my bottles (bottle conversations usually consist of "Stay...stay...no no no, don't you dare fall out of that locker!")...but I don't think I've ever talked to plants.

We have two very dominant cousins - one boy and one girl - who always seem to take opposing sides. So we end up with one taking over and the other leading a rebellion. Then we have a rebellion against the rebellion...and a rebellion against the rebellion against the rebellion...and so on. But it's all in fun...usually. ;)

Dragon

uh, wars? more like mass confusion of the buttoxes.....yep, u got it, we sit on eachother... I'm afraid its the only way (besides tickling, which is made much easier by sitting on him) to conquer Garrett, the evil, dilusional, bully of the bunk bed... me n my little bro team up against him, and well.....no one ever wins...we're mid fight when we get yelled at:rolleyes:

rhi; when u said "showering in the rain", I was gonna say, "isn't that illegal???" but then u said "in my swimsuit" and I'm like, "OH!!!!!"

I know why its good 4 plants!!!!because, we breathe in oxygen, and breathe out carbon dioxide, and they breathe in carbon dioxide, and out oxygen, so its like...giving them air:rolleyes: which sounds silly, but I guess they dont get enough, or something like that:rolleyes:

That`s a clever theory!;) I don`t know about plants but we used to have fishes and that was a disaster. We managed to have them all dead in just couples of months. I have no idea what we were doing wrong, but I guess something really important cause they died one after another. It was really stressy:( Poor little things being killed:(:( Terrible.

The-Elf-Herself
06-05-2003, 04:36 PM
Hmmm, that's a very interesting idea Dragon! Makes sense too. I'll have to check on that.

Oh, I know all about killing fishes. Or rather my Mom does. She's killed off most the fishes I've owned. Those poor neon tetras and guppies. I should just keep her away from any future fish I buy.

D's theory is true to an extent...as in her facts are straight. Plants take in CO2, we breathe out CO2. But I don't know if talking would have an effect over that, unless you were really close to the plant. *Shrugs* I don't know, maybe. But in that case, you would get the same results if you went about breathing on all your plants. Hehe...that would look funny. ;)

Outcast Type Thing Done: I slid down the stair rail at school on my stomach today for five dollars. :D:cool::rolleyes: One of my friends has been begging me to do it forever...so I finally did. Hey, I was getting paid for it! And it was actually quite fun. Like a slide, but narrower. But...heh...Mr. Cool/Sunny/the evil scary security guard had a flipping fit. For a minute I really wondered if he was going to suspend me...or at least give me detention. But he didn't! :D I'm pushing it...I know...but I can't help it. It's so much fun! And we have less than a week of school left anyway. *Lives life on the wild side*:D

Long, long day yesterday. I never even got a chance to be on the computer for ten minutes, that's how busy I was. And I didn't know when I got up (still tired from yesterday) that was I going to be busy. But things went all right anyway; first Mom packed Rachel and I off to a class on 'Teen Employment in Altus', which has some good information, and took me straight from there to Julie's, where for about two hours I helped her sort out curriculum books in her sweltering garage. For this I earned twelve dollars in ones. I escaped and returned home sopping wet, changed clothes completely and ate some food and then was off with Rachel to a babysitting job for five kids and four dogs.

But as we were sitting outside watching the kids play hide and seek, somehow we got the idea to play one of those Who Dunnit? games. It was very good, because it was spur of the moment, but Rachel regaled the kids with stories about the Ellisons (we are never in short supply) while I quickly came up with a plot and a bio for each kid, using their middle names as last names- I was having much too much fun, making West a 'wealthy business man living at his country estate with his young wards' and Olivia (5) a 'beautiful social butterfly' and Logan (6) a 'notorious card sharp and slick character' and things like that- and then we collected possible weapons (fork, stick, pipe, poisoned Capri Sun), and put them around the house, and set up the actual site of the murder, with the weapon (fork) covered in blood (ketchup) and a trail of blood (small pieces of paper with 'Blood!' 'More Blood!' and 'Wow! a LOT of Blood!' written on them) leading to the body.

Rachel came in and we sent the kids away from the porch for the final preparations- getting Rachel settled as the corpse- and then I brought them in, very serious and pompous with a 'Detective Ellison' name tag, explained that 'Miss Suzanne' was missing and presumed murdered, and it was up to them to find the weapon, the body, and the murderer, and read them their bios, and then herded them around the house looking for the site of the murder (not hard to find), follow the trail of 'blood' to the storm shelter (which, by a quirk of additional building is in the middle of the living room)....

And then came the best part, as they pulled it open and started creeping down the stairs, and all gasped at the sight of Rachel, sprawled on the floor, blood oozing down her shoulder and neck...

That's right. I squirted her with gobs of icy cold ketchup.

I have a friend who gets paid $50 a week (only 3 nights a week, tho) to babysit, 'cause the kids love him, he reads to them and tells them stories, and its funny, 'cause he's such a sweet guy, but by the looks of him, you'd think he was in a gang (not kidding, ear peircing, really tall mexican, carries around knives for some reason!!! and still great w/ kids!!! he doesn't take the knives to the kids houses tho)

OMG, I could not stand under any circumstances, ketchup all over me, I dont even like to eat ketchup....how come some people spell ketchup, catsup? I mean, its so obviously ketchup, isn't it?

Suddenly I don`t feel like an Outcast:( I never do outcast-type things:( Or maybe I don`t consider them to be outcastish? Anyway, if I ever decided to slid down the stair I`d probably end up with broken arms, leggs, or maybe even neck. And I`m a disastreous babysitter. Of course nobody is going to pay me for that. I feel like I can tell everything I`m bad at. That would be a long list:D

That would be so. Much. Fun! :D:D We should seek out an oldish castle on our Outcast Road Trip and go zooming down the crumbling stairrails. ;):D

Shushy...*huggles*...of course you're an Outcast. Everyone's an Outcast in some way or another, and just admitting that you are an Outcast makes you one, whether or not you know how you're Outcasty. (Does that make any sense? ) The way I see it, being an Outcast isn't so much not fitting in or doing weird things (though those are usually involved ;)) as it is thinking with a different mindframe and seeing things that other people don't. You definitely think with an Outcast's intuition. So don't worry about it. :)

Evening gowns? *shudders* Those horrible things that constrict leg movement, so you have to take little normal steps? Yuck! Bagses are just cool. You carry stuff in them. I always have tons of stuff. I buy bags based on how many books I can fit in (a lot. I got 27 in to my old messenger bag)

The-Elf-Herself

Yeah, but in full skirts I always trip over the hem and end up getting it all dirty. Oh, see I have a handy red and black duffel for that, I can pack five or six books in it, all of my cds and my cd player, my hairbrush, and a few snacks and still have room for extra batteries and a notebook.

My family is usually fairly easy-going, unless the topic is something they feel very strongly about. I hardly ever argue anything unless it's important. That's why Craig took me by surprise...when I met him, I suddenly felt the urge to argue every little point...I could not stand to let him win! He reminds me of a stubborn older brother.

Oh, my family is easy going, we're just always right. And we know we're right. And we are going to Be. Right. and no one else can stop us.

Family grapevine says that one of my uncle's current girlfriend was mad about something and really letting him have it, and she said that the Ellisons think they're the only ones who know anything.

LOL! I usually argue not only to gain insight on the other side and defend my own well, but also to gain insight on the person behind the argument and their opinions in general. I also like to provide balance in everything, so I'll often take the unpopular side just because it's so unpopular, to force the popular side to think anew. The thing is, I make a habit of only arguing about things I take lightly and never argue about my inner core principles.

my head hurts:(

arguments, eh?

well, arguing runs in my family, but not all members are blessed w/ it, for instance, my granny will argue with a wall if there was no one else to talk to, and my dad loves to argue w/ her, but he will not go so far as to talk to a wall. I will argue w/ n e 1 that I believe is wrong (in anything, in morals, in logic, anything) until I prove to them that they are wrong, and that I am always right (98% of the time), they prove to me that they are right and I tragically overlooked something (.5% of the time), or, I go into denial(1.5%)

fun, huh?

I also like to experiment what arguing can do to your mind, by changing your opinions instead of just your lousy facts. on many occasions I have convinced ppl that hell is cold, when they originally thought it was ....well, really hot, I like to do things like that, also, I can tell when ppl r arguing w/ me just to argue, and when they actually feel the need to defend their dignity or something like that (dignity, hah! :D )

Aaaah! *is pelted by wombats* *dives into the trenches* "All right men! Load the crepes captipults!" *French accent* "Load all the other catipults while you're at it!" "Ready...aim....FIRE!!!" *live cows, pigs and three-legged dogs fly at Kailita* *Kailita is splattered with homemade crepes*

They follow me like the plague! (Actually, they're just one of the most random animals I could think of - I mean, how many times do you hear people talking about wombats? ;))

Ack! *Is bombarded with strange, disfigured creatures!* The umbrellas! Where are the giant umbrellas?

*Gigantic umbrellas blossom from the ground around the ramparts, shielding Kailita and being splattered with crepe guts*

Take cover! Now...release the CHEESE!

*Cackles as cheese-bearing wombats soar (do wombats soar?) out from under the umbrellas and divebomb poor HobbitGirl with the cheese*

Mozerella! Monterey Jack! Cheddar! American! Hey...where did that dingo's kidney come from...?

Hold your fire, troops! I think she's surrendering!

*Watches HG's prolonged, dramatic death scene...*

Then I scanned it.

My arm, I mean.

My friends and I made a movie called "Night of the Normal"-
The title screen was a plastic cup with "Night of the Normal" written on it with a sharpie. and all of us saying night of the normal. over and over and over.

The characters:
Me- an obese, anorexic, retired football player who randomly goes into relapses of plays(football plays not acting plays) done years ago.
Brad- Had Multiple personanlities and was narcoleptic.
Josh-the guy on the couch(from half baked) and yes he got sat on a couple times.
Seth- a cleptomaniac with an accute fear of toenails.
Matt- a rapper with turrets syndrome.

Oh and the camera was supposed to be an orange soda 2 liter, so randomly you would see the inside of someone's mouth and hear them "drinking".
our ice was actually a bunch of thumb tacs(some were spilled onto the floor and actually stepped on, yeah it hurt, no shoes).

When we showed it to our families they couldn't stop laughing at the stupidity, when they were done they just shook their heads in disbelief. What do you expect though, the movie was a good 30-45 minutes long....

Dragon

umm..... I'm a little bit lost.... it sounds like it was funny tho....but, normal?

BranMuffin

It's called an oxymoron..... Night of the Normal not being normal. Well maybe for us it was.....

Dragon

Ohmygoshness, Bran, that sounds hilarious. :D:D I wish I could see it. I love the idea about taping it from the view of a 2-liter. :D Did you keep the bottle afterwards? I would have...;)

The only movie I've ever made was about a year ago with some friends in an Independent Study group with me. We made a "murder mystery", but it was more of a comedy, being a homemade movie and all. It turned out pretty funny, if you could follow it.

Hah! That's great, Bran.

I want to make a movie. It's called When Geeks Fall in Love, and it's a romantic comedy spoof- about geeks. I have an outline, but no script yet.

It wasn't in a 2-liter, it WAS the 2- liter. the camera was supposed to represent a 2-liter. Then when it was "empty" you get a good eye shot of Brad trying to see if anything was left in the "bottle".

Sounds great! Who needs a script. Ours was improv.... yours might though I don't think you can improv a romantic type movie.

My mom complains that there is no original conversation at our house because all we do is quote movies. My sister and I habitually great each other with

"Hello, you."
"Hello."
"You look fine."
"I feel fine."

And then if we're in fine form we go on to do the whole scene. It's great fun.

My movie I got from being a spectator for my best friend's romance- they're both geeks, and he writes her poetry in Elvish. I hear this and thing Aw, how romantic! I told someone else (a fairly 'normal' person) about this, and they said 'Ah. How....weird.' We geeks are a totally foreign culture to her (poor thing). I've thought about just getting some people and improving it, but I'd rather have a script. I've even thought about making it a play instead. I could at least do a short story of the idea...

What movie is that from...?

The Philadelphia Story, one of the greatest movies of all time. It seriously rocks the Casbah. Run, don't walk, to a video rental near you- It's probably in the 'classics' section. Stars Katherine Hepburn, Carey Grant, and James Stewart.

Siiiiiiiiis! *hurls self at Lomie and severely huggles her* Of course you're allowed here! All outcasts welcome- and 'You're either an outcast, or you're in denial'. This is one of my oldest friends, and one of the original Three- that is, me and my first two adopted sisters, who make of the Fates. We control your destiny, so you'd better be nice to us. And yes Lomie dear- it is who you think it is. Lomie's beau is the one who writes the Elvish poetry. He's an absolute doll ;) He calls her 'Luthien'. And we insist on calling him 'Beren' since his real name is...unromantic. :D

heh, we do a lot of quoting too, but I've never seen that movie...heh, the most fun movies 2 quote from are probably roxanne and mystery alaska... (really crude, but really funny)

I have lots and lots of sisters-

Rachel and Melody, the ones actually related to me by blood.

Lomelinde and Raithnait, who with me form the Wyrd Sisters, or the Fates, and are my two very oldest friends (11 years!)

Cadenza, Kaia, and D, my little sisters.

I love having lots of sisters.

BranMuffin

Yeah I don't understand females either. You'd think that my being one would give me insight, but it doesn't...or atleast, I haven't found any hidden wisedom yet.

how old r u? (ur prolly the oldest...)

yeah, that's y I almost always end up hanging out w/ guys all the time, bc they'll except me, and I'll except them, and that's cool

heh, the other day I was at my friends house, and we were gonna go 2 the movies, and she spent about 20 mins in the bathroom putting on makeup and fixing her hair, and I'm like "what's the point?, no one's gonna c u, we'll b in a movie theatre it's dark and everyone will b watching the movie" she's like "well, u never know!" and I said "I really don't understand girls..." heh, she gives me a funny look and says "well that's 2 bad sweetie, cause u r one"
