The Purist's Lament in Obtuse Couplets

In telepesgalungwe-tangles
Jackson's adaptation jangles,
Film-clinker's mere approximation;
Screenplay nearer a novel'zation,
As Peter, Philippa, and Fran
Both undercut and overran
The truer heart of Tolkien's Tale:
To "almost get" is yet to fail.

Though Arwen's role (or need we mention?)
Hath rous'ed rather more attention
Rude as a blade behind the ear,
The heedful, weeping, wince to hear
That sadder character-mangling's borne
By poor most-distorted Aragorn,
Who, Elfstone and Isildur's heir,
Such burdens did not wish to bear
And so decided "not to" years ago:
In all PJ's shame no greater woe.

More of this "alas" anon, as time, rhyme, and Iaradanduin's indignation may later permit; passersby of poetical mind are warmly bidden "bring it" in verses of their own devising...

My Dear, you make me wish that poetry were my "meter", so to speak, so that I might add to your excellent work as you have asked! However, I would not dare to intrude upon something so special that sums up so well so much in so small a space!

Well done! ;)

The only poetry I can hack
is the woeful limmer-ack!
To earn yet more scorn:
I liked PJ's Aragorn
Oh well, still glad to see you back
