Talierin and I were wondering if the members of Time Lords would be interested in holding professorships within the guild. There would be different eras/places to hold a professorship in.

Any thoughts or ideas? I'm open for suggestions!

Sounds like a good idea but there are a few questions to be solved.

1: How many professorships and in what areas should be awarded?

2: How should a person be proved as "worthy" his proffesorship?

3: Should people be allowed to hold more than one professorhips?

Of these I see #1 and #2 as the most important ones. It's a good idea though.

The only thing I would like to see here is more activity and POSTS!

See you friends!

1. For the different areas for the professorships, I came up with this list:
Ancient Rome and the Roman Empire
Ancient Greece
Byzantium
10th - 11th Century Europe
12th - 13th Century Europe
14th - 15th Century Europe
16th - 17th Century Europe
18th - 19th Century Europe
The Industrial Revolution forward in the United States
World War I
World War II

I will be adding more to this list, and possibly narrowing down some of the fields. If there's any specific ones you have in mind, feel free to contact me.

2. As for proving "worthy" for a professorship, the person interested would contact me, and I would create a quiz or something of that nature. The score would, obviously, determine whether or not the applicant would receive a professorship.

3. Talierin and I haven't decided on that point yet; we'll keep you informed.

Why shouldn't we include a "Eastern Cultures Professorships"?

I'm speaking about Mideast (Arab countries), Japan and China...

Please don't take my list to mean that I'm discluding Eastern cultures; it was just a quick list I wrote down off the top of my head - I'll be happy to add any you can think of. :)

I didn't want to offend you Aerin..sorry...my "tone" wasn't in that sense...

Please, accept my apologies...

It's no problem, Anduril.
Looking back, I do realize that I hardly included Eastern Cultures, and they certainly have their place in history. (A little redundant.. hehe)

I just don't want to leave any cultures or eras out; I don't want any prejudices or biases in the guild, just discussions about history.

Then all who want a specified professorship could PM you or Talierin and you could decide if it's okay. This would be the esiest I think.

Here's my suggestion for the professorships/areas of study:

Ancient:
Pre-Egyptian Civilizations
Egypt
Greco-Macedonian
China & Far East
India
Middle-East
Roman Empire

Middle:
Byzantine Empire
Teutonic/Holy Roman Empire
China & Far East
Muslim Empire
American Empires (Inca, Olmec, Mayan, etc.)
Barbarians

Recent:
Renaissance Europe
American Colonization
Britannic Empire
French Empire
Spanish Conquest
Russian Empire
China & Far East
Middle-East

Modern:
America - Revolution, Civil War, Imperialism
Britain - Birth of Industrialization, Imperialism
France - Revolution and the Napoleonic Empire
Germany - Imperialism
World War I
Russia - Revolution, Birth of the Soviet State
Global Depression
World War II
Cold War

Just some ideas...I know there are a lot of subjects, but I think that the professorships could be in an "Era" and then a specialization in one or more sub-categories. Non-professors could specialize in a sub-category under their professor. Feel free to make suggestions/changes!

Another idea just popped into my mind: National Historians.

Members could choose a country and delve into its history, since the time that humans first inhabited it. For instance, a person studying Mexico would study current Mexico, Spanish-Provincial Mexico, Aztec Mexico, etc. Things like that.

That's a really good idea, and ;) I would live to do the American Revolutionary war, (just had a constitution test. (jk)

That sounds like a great idea, but what would the professorship include. Would they help others to learn about that time?

I studied Chinese and Japanese culture and history in college, and I still have my notes...so if no one objects I would like to be a professor in this field.

I'd be interested in obtaining a professorship for Renaissance Europe, if that would be okay. I'll post again later and give a more in-depth request...but I'm afraid I have to go and make copies with my friend.

Cheers.
