Does anyone know what the rating for TTT is? there was a rumor going about that it was R, but i refuse to believe that.

Its definatly PG-13 but with Helms Deep and possibly the scenes with Merry and Pippin with the orcs could have made it rated R due to violence and "scary moments" it is still PG-13 though.

i was gonna say. they would loose a lot of their audiance if it were R. i wouldnt be able to see it with out my parents. that would be sad.

My friend's brother is the manager of our theater so we really wouldn't have had to worry anyway. :D

My parents wanted to scare the living (insert your favorite word here) out of me for some reason when I was about 6 so they showed me Alien and Silence of the Lambs both at night in a row before I went to sleep.

ahh...fond family memories.

I've heard a few reviewer remarks of surprise that it wasn't rated R. I bet 15 years ago this would've been an R (certainly before the PG-13 rating was invented it'd probably skew more R than PG).

In the Netherlands its was rated 12+, so you have to be at least 12 to see it. They wanted to rate it 16+, but they would loose too much of the audience.

I assume it'll be pg-13. The extended FotR was rated r. TTT is going to have so much more violence. eh. I can pass as 18 as long as I have that disguise with the big rubber nose, glasses, and moutache:rolleyes:

PJ has said that the EE of TTT will be rated R.

Which means if you're under 12 you have to drag an adult along with you.

Excellent selection of reviews on www.tookeysfilmguide.com

Yeah believe it or not the exploding Sauron in EE FOTR was taken out of the original because it was considered to intense and scary for Pg-13.

Not true. Unless you're talking about the UK or something, then I don't know. But in the US, FOTR EE was (like the TC) still PG-13.

Really? Cool! Where did he say that! I assume it'd not for added violence, but for Arwen nudity? (and maybe an added Treebeard line where he describes Saruman as an m/f'er)

Well, I'm a little surprised that the rating could be believably rumored to be R... I guess I associate R with language and sex scenes, not violence. That might be from my exposure to *ahem* Jay and Silent Bob...

I've seen some PG movies that should've been at least PG-13... And at 20 years old was carded to see a movie...

Peter Jackson said the extended edition is going to be rated R because of Helm's Deep. Something about heads and limbs flying off....:D

It says something about that here! (http://www.lordoftherings.net/index_editorials_peterjackson_dvd.html)

Here is the quote:

In the book, the Battle of Helm's Deep is a very violent affair. How does that translate onto the screen?

We've got a PG-13 battle scene, but it's a fairly gritty battle. It's about as far as we could possibly push it within that rating. We filmed some heads and limbs being chopped off which we've taken out. We'll probably put them back in the DVD, which will have an R rating.

Interesting. FOTR had several shots of heads and limbs being cut off (all orc). I wonder if (a) it's already so violent that any head/limb severings would put it over the top or (b) these are man or elf beheadings/belimbings.

Remember though, there was strong speculation that FOTR EE would get an R. Although, that speculation was mostly from the media and this quote about TTT EE is right from PJ. Also, it's almost sounds like they DID have an R, and just took out the bare minimum to achieve a PG-13, which will almost guarantee the TTT EE will be R (unless society's, and the MPAA's values slide significantly this year).

As far as I was in FotR, there was only one beheading/belimbing.

(spoiler)
Lurtz lost arms and head to Aragorn
(/spoiler)

Now if it's something as... explicit as Braveheart, with at least three heads coming off, I'll say that's what earns it a little higher caution rating...

Aragorn beheaded a Moria orc too, with blood spurting out even!

And what about all the arrows in the eye? 2 arrows to the eye I think and one right to the forehead.

Right... forgot the Moria scene. Actually, I didn't see *ahem* heads roll there. Unless I missed that part...

Well, there'll probably be bunches more, and almost definitely more blood in this one, since it's going to be a huge battle. Just makes me wonder what they're going to do for the seige of Minas Tirith. If I remember correctly from the book, the orcs had really nasty "weapons" in use there...

Yes, orcs throwing severed man heads over the wall too. Not sure anything like that will make a PG-13 cut!
