I'm expecting to go with my cousin some time before Christmas, transportation and work permitting... I hope it to be by the 21st.

I'll see it on Tuesday at 7. It's an Amnesty International screening, but I've been wanting to become a member lately anyhow, so it works out. It costs a bit more then your average movie, though ;). But as I said, it's for a good cause, so it doesn't bother me.

i'll probably end up going on the 26th, even though I really wanted to see it opening day. But I hafta go to Minnesota, plus where I live, people don't shut up in the theater when it's crowded and it's reeeeeeeeeeeal annoying.

I'm debating whether I will see it on opening day or not. I probably will not be able to get tickets, no doubt...since I live in New York City and I am not willing to sleep overnight to get the tickets.
I may just wait until I visit my family in Maine. The tickets are so much cheaper there too. In NYC...an average movie ticket costs $10... In Maine $7...what would you do? :)

wow, that's great! wouldn't it be great if they released a 3d version!
I have tickets for the premier in norway! 00.02 -18th desember I will be sitting in the cinema:D I had to sleep outside on the street for three days to get the tickets,an extremely cold experince. after all I live in norway, in the night's it reached 10 degrees below zero. but it was fun and I will do it again next year, but then I might sleep outside one week. :p

Man, and I thought having to wait until Dec 26th (which is when it opens here in Australia) was bad. I don't think I'd be able to wait until the middle of January!
Anyway, we bought tickets last night. Seeing it on the 26th.
We're also thinking of seeing it in "Gold Class", which some cinemas here have. It costs about twice as much, but there are only about 30 seats in a smaller cinema, and they're all big, comfy reclining chairs. There's a little resturant type set up outside, so you can have dinner and a drink then go and lay back in your big comfy chair, with a glass of champage and watch the movie. A most enjoyable experience. :)

Hey Phee,
Where is this "here" that you speak of, I might want to look into this gold class thing. (al i'm asking for is a country and state, not city).
"Here" would be Australia. :)

I bought tickets for the 3:15 pm show on 12/18. Planned on picking my 12 year old up right after school and going. Then I found a theatre here is having a 12:01 am showing so I got tickets for it too. My son and I are going to watch the DVD EE Tuesday evening and when its' over I'll surprise him with the tickets. Of course I'm letting him take the day off school so we can get some sleep before seeing it again that afternoon.
Hope he doesn't read this!

I've been purposely avoiding this site so as not to ruin the movie by being 'spoiled'......
I would be there right now (it's 1:42AM here in CT), but it wasn't playing anywhere near my house.
That's odd, because last year, I decided the night it came out to go at midnight & the first theatre I tried was already sold out. The one I ended up in had about 200+ people in it. But, this year, both places aren't showing it.
Just as well, my wife was throwing up tonight...
So, we are going Weds night at 10:15 after the kiddies are asleep......
Now, I know where, say Thorin, stands on this movie stuff, but I try to go with an open mind & enjoy what I get for what it is......
If I want an EXACT copy of the books, I'll read the books.
Let's face it, there's never been a movie as good as the book - even The Godfather (well ok, maybe The Godfather was as good).
I try to overlook the things like Merry & Pippin being complete fools, Elrond being such a grouch, even the absurd plot angle that Aragorn walked away from being king.
The little things, like No Tom Bombadil or Arwen instead of Glorfindel, or the Balrog breaking through rock, I don't sweat......
One thing I'm hoping for:
A flashback scene showing Gandalf's fight with The Balrog as he's talking to Gimli, Aragorn & Legolas at the edge of Fangorn, but I doubt it will be there as it's kind of hard to have a Balrog that is solid enough to break through rock become "A thing of slime, stronger than a strangling snake", & then "burst anew into flame" as Gandalf says.
One thing I dread:
That there will be storylines dependant on the extra 30 minutes of added footage from the 'Ripoff Cut', er, I mean the 'Director's Cut'. :D
That would be TOTALLY BOGUS.
Review to follow..........
